Rhea Perlman found her rescue dog under the house as they told ghost stories

Rhea Perlman is in a new movie called Poms, co-starring Diane Keaton, Jacki Weaver and Pam Grier. I just watched the trailer and am sold. Did you see Book Club? That was adorable. This looks like Book Club meets Calendar Girls. A bunch of ladies in a retirement community create a cheerleading club and it looks like an adorable ensemble comedy about friendship and self actualization. It’s out this week. Rhea was on Seth Meyers, where she told an hilarious story about one of her first jobs, working as a waitress at the Rainbow Room in NYC. She dropped a whole tray of food right next to a Rockefeller. She got escorted out and wasn’t asked back.

She also showed the cutest photos of her rescue dog, a little mutt named Zorro. Unfortunately we had to see the pics on video and I couldn’t find them on Instagram. I’ve made screenshots though. She said Zorro was her kids’ muse so I looked through their accounts and couldn’t find these photos. Her daughter Lucy has posted other photos of Zorro though. (Rhea’s Instagram is a bit sparse.) Zorro loves rice cakes so showed a photo of him with a rice cake crown and necklace on a pile of them. She also told the story of how she found him. They were at their beach house telling ghost stories when they heard something under the house!

We found him, he was a rescue. We were at the beach house. It was a miserable pouring night. We were telling ghost stories in front of the fire. Then there’s a pause and we hear this ungodly sound which sounds like it’s coming from the floor. We were like ‘oh my God.’ Jake and his friend go out to look. There was that little fluff ball under there. That was 11 years ago.

Ooh if you like ghost stories, listen to our podcast this week. At minute 30 Kaiser/Chandra tells a story which gave me goosebumps. Then I talk to Hecate/Kat and she scares the crap out of me with a couple of stories. I even remember a creepy incident from my childhood and cold call my mom to ask her if she remembers it. Getting back to Rhea that had to have been scary for a little bit, but look at her sweet dog. How could you not adopt that dog? You can tell their whole family dotes on him too. We’re like that with my mom’s miniature schnauzer Sassy, everyone loves on that dog.

Here’s that interview:

Oh my god that dog. I’m not a huge tiny dog fan – but I’d take that one in a heartbeat. Zorro looks absolutely hilarious.

  3. meh says:

POMS does look like a cute movie.
I hate the Angelica Huston kinda shat all over it in her recent interview.
Its like, if it aint for you just say it NICELY and keep it movin.

    • Jerusha says:

That was a nasty little throwaway comment she made, especially in relation to her defense of Polanski and Allen. That interview totally changed my opinion of her.

      • Celebitchy says:

She is such trash. I didn’t realize she talked smack about that movie too. We talked about her and that interview on the podcast this week.

I had the same thoughts. I also found it interesting how she defended literal sex offenders or just let them slide but held onto grudges and threw shade on people for the pettiest things. Sex abuse is fine by her bc that’s just the way things are but a professional reviewer panning a performance a lifetime ago – he’s dead to her. Bill Murray didn’t invite her to dinner? Loud him out.

It could just be the way the article was presented or maybe just excerpts. Btw I totally buy that Bill Murray is a dick at LEAST part of the time, and I am petty too, but this just came off as “it didn’t hurt me so idgaf”

She’s the mean girl who disses other women while batting her eyelashes at men. I wonder if she has any female friends.

    • lucy2 says:

I think the movie looks cute too, and I’d like to go see it.
What is wrong with Angelica Huston? She seems very messed up. There’s no need to crap on what other people are doing, especially older women who are still working in Hollywood. If she doesn’t like that sort of thing, don’t be in it!

That sweet doggo! His little mugshot is so cute. I’m a sucker for little dogs and have a chihuahua right now. My little pomeranian-chihuahua mix passed in Dec 2017, but I still dream about her.

Also, Celebitchy, I love your reactions to the ghost stories! Your gasps as the stories progressed kept me entertained (of course along with the cool stories and gossip)!

    • Celebitchy says:

I’m so sorry to hear that you lost your dog. She must have been such a sweet girl. I just went to Instagram and saw that video her barking at a treat and playing with it. That was adorable.

That’s so nice of you to say about the podcast! I do get really scared by those stories. Kat/Hecate even told another one about a haunted hotel that got me too but I cut it for time.

      • launicaangelina says:

I love that little clip! She was such an alpha-dog too. Thank you!

I love your reactions because you are genuinely engaged. Maybe we can get the haunted hotel story down the road. Hecate has so good spooky stuff to share!

      • Celebitchy says:

I could post the haunted hotel story on Twitter or Instagram at some point. It was really good I felt bad cutting it but this episode was so long.

Zorro’s a doll and Rhea’s great. Wonderful to see her again. I’ll go see her movie.

  6. Xilco8 says:

I’ve always liked Rhea Perlman. She’s quite a lady. I’m a big dog person but that little Zorro is mighty cute.

  7. NightOwl says:

First interview I have ever heard of Rhea, after so many years watching her on Cheers eons ago. I just absolutely love her energy and warmth. Loved the clip!

  8. Giddy says:

I will definitely be seeing Poms. I have some friends who are in a similar group in central Texas. I have met their member who started the group and she is hilarious. They have so much fun; they are The Plungettes! They have matching outfits and march in formation in parades twirling their decorated toilet plungers and it is great!

  9. JennyJenny says:

    Zorro is SO adorable!

We have a group of ladies who get together for the Cherry Festival Parade. There’s the regular Cherry Queen and then there’s the “Dried Cherries” ~ they’re just having the time of their lives!

  10. Cordelia says:

Don’t tell my dog, but that is the cutest dog I have ever seen. That must be a real fun family, look at all that dress up and silliness.
