So, over the weekend, animal-loving actress Kaley Cuoco married equestrian Karl Cook in a ceremony held at his San Diego horse ranch. There was a romantic ceremony and elaborate reception, but, as with every wedding, its all about the bride (right?) and Kaley was definitely the center of attention in her custom-designed wedding gown by Reem Acra.
The designer told E! News that the gown took 400 hours to create. The lace dress and beaded cape was made of pure silk chiffon and was decorated with handmade floral appliqués and embroidered tulle. A team of ten seamstresses hand embroidered the gown. Wow, said the woman who bought the dress for her second wedding off the rack at a Caché store in the mall (RIP).
Reem Acra released a statement. “It was a joy to create this custom gown for Kaley. She looked wonderful and I wish her and Karl a lifetime of happiness.” Karl, who I guess is going for “strong silent type” said of his new wife’s wedding lewk, “G–d damn that dress was amazing!”
After the ceremony, Kaley changed into a Tadashi Shoji lace, boot cut jumpsuit, which was paired with Louise et Cie heels. I know a lot of you commented that this jumpsuit was on the tacky side (and I tend to agree with you), but you ain’t seen nothing yet – like the matching denim jackets they wore post-ceremony bearing their initials and the wedding theme KCSquared (get it?) Wow, that’s little extra.
E! News spoke with wedding planner Lauren Tatum about Kaley and Karl’s big day. Lauren said that Kaley knew exactly what she wanted, stating that her “vision” had to include “romance, animals, [a] 1920s theme and love.” The animals, the couple’s many horses, were in a barn for the cocktail hour. Kaley’s dogs and Karl’s bulldog, Tank, were also part of the ceremony. The animal motif was carried out at the reception with napkins imprinted with paw prints and horseshoes. The ceremony itself took place in front of a huge floral arrangement in the shape of a horseshoe. The couple wrote their own vows and the whole shebang was officiated by Kaley’s sister, Briana, who joked that she got her license to wed online from a “very questionable website.”
The reception was held in a two-story tent, wart guests dined on hamburgers, with buns “branded” with the couple’s KCSquared logo. Attendees had plenty of pampering as well, with a beauty room, wine room and beer room. After dining, guests went outside and were entertained by aerial acts, a fire-breather, jugglers, a magician and stilt walkers. In keeping with the ’20s theme, there were also cigarette girls (without cigarettes), lots of late night snacks and some potentially embarrassing dance moves. The festivities went on until the wee hours of the morning and, if the photos are any indication, it looks like a splendid time was had by all. Lauren told E! “It was spectacular. I think everyone was happy. I think the family, Kaley and Karl are happy. I had one [guest] say it was the best night of their life.”
Among the guests were Kaley’s Big Bang Theory co-star, Johnny Galecki, who shared a photo from the event to Instagram, captioning it, “Couldn’t be happier for my fake wife @normancook and @mrtankcook whose words brought us all to tears last night.”
I’m not the most sentimental person, I’ll admit it, but it does look like a really nice celebration and it sure looks like everyone had fun. If I had the dough (and a willing beau), I’d throw a huge bash, even though it would be wedding #3 for me. I’d skip the denim jackets though. Congrats, you two.
