Cardi B confirms that she secretly married Offset in September

Cardi B has been venting about planing her baby shower, which reportedly took place this past weekend in Atlanta. The post office must have misplaced my invitation. The 25-year-old musician took to Twitter on Saturday, writing that “Baby shower planning makes me not even wanna do a wedding. S–t so overwhelming.”

Earlier last week, she shared the issues she’s had setting up her shower registry, jokingly tweeting, “Doing my registry but I wanna add gifts for myself. My baby think I need this Gucci dress. Let me stop… Ugh I’m so shleepy.”

There may not have been a Gucci dress for Mama B on the registry, but the baby is set to clean up. TMZ reported that, among the items on the registry were a battery-powered mini Bentley Bentayga and a $2,799 bassinet, which Cardi requested be covered in gold leaf (for an extra $839). Thinking about making the money to afford that is making me “shleepy.”

Cardi, who is set to tour with her “Finesse” partner Bruno Mars in September, is due to give birth to her first child with Migos’s Offset any day now. And, according to news uncovered by TMZ on Monday, Cardi and Offset have been married for months. The outlet reported that the couple got a marriage certificate in Fulton County, Georgia on September 20 of last year. The names on the license are Belcalis Almanzar and Kiari Kendrell Cephus, Cardi and Offset’s government names. A source told TMZ the couple were wed by an officiant in their bedroom, with only Cardi’s cousin in attendance.

If this is true, their “engagement” at a concert in Philadelphia back in October was just for show.

Also, at the BET awards Sunday night, Migos won the Best Group award. During his acceptance speech, Offset quickly blurted out, “I thank my wife. You should thank yours.” Curious….

After I wrote all this, Cardi confirmed that she did marry Offset in September. She wrote on Twitter that it was a moment that she wanted to keep for herself.

They may be married on paper, but they can still throw a bash. With a registry like this for the baby, who knows what kinds of presents Cardi and Offset would request for wedding gifts.

Why are celebrities compelled to explain the private part of their lives? Even in non-celebs it really befuddles me. I have to use Insta for work and I don’t want to see your kids/meals/endless love declarations please. I love Cardi B (in smallish doses) but this is so off-putting (off-setting?).

    • Starkiller says:

She’s literally talking about how she doesn’t want to explain the private parts of her life. Did you even read her statement before commenting?

      • slowsnow says:

Lol She gave details : no dress or ring, only them with a cousin etc, Did YOU read the statement?

      • Beth says:

If she doesn’t want to talk about it, she shouldn’t bring it up in the first place. She shouldn’t post her life on social media, and her saying how she now wants to keep parts of her life private, but teases by giving bits and pieces of info about her marriage is what keeps people nosey, curious and interested. Too late.

  2. Tanesha86 says:

She had to know this would come out eventually, why would they hide this and fake a proposal?

Why do celebrities who post everything about their private life on social media complain about fans being nosey? Don’t post it, and people won’t be interested anymore

    • Babs says:

Cardi B tends to overshare and is also in every comment section randomly responding to random people instead of cutting out the toxic for the well-being of the baby. I unfollowed her because she is annoying and sad.

  5. Babs says:

She said she was going to drink red wine at the baby shower. Such a wrong message. I wish she educate herself.

    • ValiantlyVarnished says:

European guidelines allow pregnant women to drink one glass of wine or beer a week. It’s considered “minimal risk”. Also – it’s quite clear she was joking when she said said.

      • Babs says:

This is not true. It’s zero alcohol during pregnancy politics, we have signs on bottles and all. And no, the joke wasn’t clear, sorry.

      • ValiantlyVarnished says:

@Babs I LITERALLY Googled it hun and it was the first thing to pop up. It states that of course no alcohol consumption would be best but minimal should be limited to one glass of wine or beer a week. So…sorry but you’re wrong. And for the record: just because the joke wasn’t clear to YOU doesn’t mean it wasn’t clear. Personally I wouldn’t drink if I were pregnant. But it’s not my body. And it’s not yours. So we can all mind our business.

      • Babs says:

You can hun me all you want, but maybe you could also provide a valid link to back your claim because my european self never heard nothing of the sort. Plus I have been pregnant so I think I know what the guidelines are, at least in my country, which is also the country of wine. I get fangirling but I don’t get denying that what Cardi said was potentially harmful, it is not just her body, it’s her unborn baby’s body and also the harmful misinformation spread to the people who follow her and that you contribute to spread too. One alcoholic beverage a week is NOT considered minimal risk anywhere on the planet, and I don’t even need to google that, “hun”. It’s a huge amount of alcohol when pregnant.

      • Cait says:

Also European, also been pregnant (recently), also been told, VERY CLEARLY, that NO alcohol while pregnant is the official guideline. I don’t know where you’re getting your info but I’ll remind you that “Europe” is not a country and there is not one medical guideline for the whole continent. In my country, as in Babs’ country, it’s ZERO alcohol while pregnant.

    • ItsTooEarly says:

You are quite wrong. The occasional glass of wine is not harmful and also, it’s none of your business. It’s Cardi’s business and Cardi’s doctor’s business. But never your business.

      • Beth says:

Ouch! @Babs was just giving her opinion, not claiming it was any of her business. When Cardi or anyone says what they do, everyone is free to have an opinion, especially on a gossip site where we comment. I have no kids, but my sister didn’t drink at all during her pregnancies because her doctor told her it was dangerous to the fetus

      • Babs says:

Yes, it is harmful and yes, it is my business when a celeb who has a young people following is promoting unhealthy behavior. One minimal intake of alcohol can cause developemental delays or even FAS, look it up.

    • ItsTooEarly says:

So I provided you with links that disprove your very wrong point and my comment is gone? Wow, you are almost Trumpian.

      • Babs says:

I am not a mod here, you know that? Maybe you should try again and get checked for that paranoia, also a trumpian trait.
Wow, Cardi B fans are really something else.

  6. Crowhood says:

Wow 6 comments and nobody has a single kind thing to say. Maybe this is what she was referring too.

    • ItsTooEarly says:

I love her. Her music doesn’t do it for me but she’s a fabulous person. I love her honesty and the way she navigates the world. If I was in her shoes, I’d be just as openly thankful and giddy and silly about it too. She worked hard and now she is reaping the benefits of being a dedicated, driven woman. She’s not too much older than my daughters and I just want to pinch her cheeks and tell her she’s lovely and I’m proud of her lol.

    • Lilly says:

They get in here quick, ha ha. I love her and am grateful for her particular balm in music and joyful personality, in today’s world especially.

  7. ValiantlyVarnished says:

Frankly I think it’s awesome that they were able to keep it quiet as long as they did. Kudos to them.

  8. BJ says:

So he was legally married when he cheated.Got it

  9. Mo' Comments Mo' Problems says:

Sure hope she got a prenup…

  10. Pandy says:

Am I supposed to care? She’s cancelled to me. Reading about a gold leaf covered bassinet is sickening … anyone who would buy it needs their head examined and priorities reorganized.

  11. Yes Doubtful says:

This is the last piece of the puzzle as to why she wouldn’t leave him after he cheated on her. I thought it was just stupidity and pregnancy, but it’s also marriage as well. Good luck to them and props for keeping it a secret for so long.

I hope she got a prenup.
