Hugh Jackman’s sweet message to Deborra-Lee Furness on their 22nd anniversary

When I say that Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness are #RelationshipGoals, it’s two-fold. One side of me loves how much they enjoy each other. The other lusts after Hugh and pretends we’re in a relationship. (Truthfully, I think I have developed as big a crush on Deb.)

One of the things I’ve come to count on with Hugh is his annual homage to Deb on their anniversary. Hugh and Deb just celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary and, as promised, Hugh posted this lovely message to the world for the world to see:

“I believe in life we need to see and truly be seen by the most important people in our lives.” What an amazing comment. I wonder if that’s his or something he heard and adopted. Either way, still amazing. For anyone who’s curious, I don’t cover Deb’s messages and love notes because she doesn’t post them. My relationship is the same way, The Mister is verbal and I’m action but we both know how much we value each other. I have no inside knowledge of the Jackman-Furness home but I get the sense that they struck a beautiful balance in their lives and honest to Christmas, if they split up I’ll need years to recover. And it’s not that I haven’t heard, repeatedly, the rumors surrounding their marriage, it’s that I don’t believe them and agree that they’re basically offensive.

Not offensive is how much Ryan Reynold’s adores Hugh. If Ryan and I were at the same party, we’d probably spend the whole night swapping “Hugh is awesome” stories. As it stands, Ryan spends his time chasing Hugh around Twitter leaving sarcastic love notes on Hugh’s posts. His response to Hugh’s anniversary tweet was:

This is off-topic but I wanted to post the honest trailer to The Greatest Showman. I haven’t seen the film yet. I like the cast very much so that makes me want to see it, but I have always been uncomfortable with any favorable portrayal of PT Barnum and Honest Trailers just confirmed all my doubts about the movie. (Thanks to Kristy Puchko at Pajiba for the story). However, this is funny enough that I might want to see the film because of it:

Beautiful. This is the kind of love these pseudo stars should aspire to have. Genuine, from the heart, from the soul. Hugh is such a romantic and Deb must be a truly lovely woman to inspire him to love and respect her so. Relationship Goals!

    • Menlisa says:

This is definitely the kind of love people should wait for.
Unfortunately too many people settle in order to hit milestones by a certain age, which I’m compassionate towards because fear is a ghastly thing.
But a genuine, soulful relationship as you put it, is a thing of beauty.

      • Garner & the Phoenix says:

Hope its genuine…..I don’t always believe the ‘smoke and mirrors’ Social Media relationship. I have good friends in LA. He constantly gushes over his wife on Insta. (And she is cheating on him).

  2. Lindy says:

Good for them, 22 years together. Whatever arrangement they have it sure does work for them.

  3. Slowsnow says:

Ryan Reynolds is Twitter’s most beloved puppy.

  4. Jenns says:

I know there has been a lot of speculation about their marriage, but whatever their arrangement is, I have no doubt that he adores her.

  5. smcollins says:

I know there’s no such thing as the “perfect man” (or woman), but Hugh comes pretty damn close. They make such a beautiful couple, happy anniversary to them!

  6. Snowflake says:

They have such a sweet relationship! Mashes me feel good to see it.

  7. Kitten says:

    #relationshipgoals

I love Hugh and adore these two together.

  8. Abby says:

Relationship goals. I will cry my eyes out if something ever happens to their marriage.

They are so lovely together. And he’s a lovely man (from what I can see). I like him as an actor and a person.

  9. Georgia says:

    Such a beautiful couple ♡

  10. Paty Kerry says:

If they ever split I would be heartbroken. She was so awesome in the Australian film Shame years ago. Must watch it again.

@Hecate, see The Greatest showman. just do it. It’s hands down one of my favorite modern musicals. I listen the the soundtrack on repeat.

Yes-there is a lot of white washing or issues-but you can say that of any movie. Go into this one not expecting accuracy-just enjoy the camp, and colors and music. It was incredibly well done.

I adore Hugh and Deborah. They are amazing. My husband and I both have crushes on Hugh. God I love these too.

    • lannisterforever says:

I loved the movie and especially the soundtrack too! Zac and Zendaya had amazing chemistry and Hugh was great as always. Highly recommended :)

      • winosaurusrex says:

My husband is obsessed with Hugh and Zac together. The Other Side and This is Me are basically in constant rotation at our house.

I sobbed when I saw This Is Me performed. Not only is that song so frigging powerful, watching it on screen with those characters? SLAYED. I will watch that segment a million times over and never get enough.

  12. Rumi says:

They are so lovely together, his message is full of love and respect for his wife. I watched the Greatest Showman and it was amazing, better than Lala land and very close to Moulin Rouge.

    Hecate-
I absolutely Love Hughjackman too! :) What a beautiful message..
Hubby & I watched The Greatest Showman last night. Hubby is not into musicals much.. he enjoyed it so much he never even snoozed. (Lol). I was in happy emotional tears at the opening number. I literally cried thru the movie (especially the musical numbers because yes I am sappy like that). It has been a very rough year & THIS movie is the first that really swept me up & let me escape for 2 hrs. I watched it again at 5:00 A.M. this morning. If you like Hughjackman & good toe tapping make your feet move in your chair music.. you will love this movie!

  14. Case says:

Yesterday I was talking about how Tom Hiddleston was one of the very few people in Hollywood I’d consider to be a genuinely good man — Hugh is absolutely on this list, too. What a sweet guy. It’s admirable that he has managed to have a great career while also making his marriage and children his priority.

  15. deadnotsleeping says:

They seem truly happy. I would also be genuinely sad if they broke up.

That was the best honest trailer ever and completely encapsulates how I felt about it. I’m cooling down on the treadmill and literally was laughing out loud. (I use earbuds) (and yes, that’s when I read this – on the treadmill, waiting in the school pick up line and, I’m sorry, in the bathroom). I didn’t want to go because of all the problematic real life PT Barnum issues, but it was the last day of Christmas break and my kids both had friends over and they were bored! The musical numbers were great. Everything else sucked. My kids call it “The Lamest Showman”. The soundtrack is on amazon prime and I love it. But I’d only sit through the movie again if I could fast forward everything but the musical numbers.

  16. Case says:

The Greatest Showman was a disaster of a movie. And I’m typically not very hard on movies, but this one was just terrible. Every bit of drama that popped up either disappeared or was magically resolved in the next scene. The plot was verrrrry thin. Hugh, Zac, and Zendaya are talented and all, but…eh. I’d just skip the movie and check out the great soundtrack.

    • Mel M says:

Finally someone that doesn’t like it. I actually never even heard of it up until like a month ago. I don’t have cable and only use Netflix and amazon so I see zero commercials. Everyone on my IG is obsessed with it and has gone to see it multiple times. I am not a musical person so I have zero desire to see it and am just so confused about everyone’s obsession with it especially given the subject matter in this day and age. I do love Moulin Rouge and oldies like Singing in the rain.

  17. Shelly says:

Insisting a married straight man is gay and his wife is a beard IS horribly offensive. There isn’t even any tangible proof he is interested in men unlike Travolta. Not a sniff. Yet because Deb is older, his kids are adopted and he does musicals he must be gay?

  18. Ladykeller says:

Even if the rumors are true (and in this case I don’t buy it) he obviously adores this woman. Whatever their arrangement May be you don’t go 22 years and still look at each other this way and post love notes like this without genuine love and affection.

What offends me most about the rumors is the insistence that a Hollywood man could not possibly love a woman over 40 who isn’t rail thin. Same thing with Pierce Brosnan’s marriage, like it just isn’t possible for a successful man to love a woman for her heart, her mind, or yes even a few extra layers of padding or some wrinkles.

And so far no one has been able to conclusively provide the receipts on Hugh so for I’ll be content to enjoy the fantasy that he is truly this great of a guy.

  19. InsertNameHere says:

I think that people who insist that they aren’t *real* have no concept of what it’s like to meet someone who truly makes you a better person just by having their presence in your life. That’s clearly what Hugh and Deb have with each other. These people who don’t get it are the same people who have crazy relationship drama and talk about how women are crazy or all men are dongs (typo for dogs and it stays). Stop being superficial and dumb and maybe you’ll find a true relationship and figure out that it’s about so much more than the physical.

    • Jennifer says:

I used to see Deb out and about in Melbourne, probably around the time she met Hugh. Let me say – she has presence in bucket loads! All eyes would go to her, even if she was simply walking through the room. She just radiated confidence, intelligence and yes, massive sexiness. Hugh got lucky, that’s for sure.

  20. BB90 says:

Ryan Reynolds is terribly extra and annoying on twitter!

    • Lee says:

I thought I was in the minority! At the beginning he was funny and enjoyable, now he’s just annoying.
