Mika Brzezinski & Joe Scarborough respond to Donald Trump’s tweets

Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski

Yesterday morning, the unhinged lunatic living in the White House decided that the best use of his time would be tweeting out some insults to a private citizen who co-hosts MSNBC’s Morning Joe. Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough at one point (last year) tried to massage Donald Trump’s ego, but they stopped a while back and ever since then, Trump has held the grudge. And no matter what Joe says about him, what really makes Trump mad is that Mika dares to criticize him. Because she’s JUST a woman. Because Donald Trump is an insecure piece of sh-t who cannot be questioned, mocked or criticized by a woman.

Things got crazy yesterday, with a series of statements from the White House about Trump’s tweets. The First Lady – whose anti-bullying campaign was over before it started – issued a statement through her office saying: “As First Lady has stated publicly… when her husband gets attacked, he will punch back 10 times harder.” Sarah Huckabee Sanders – the only person who makes me miss Sean Spicer – went on a nonsensical rant during the press briefing, claiming that Trump “fights fire with fire.”

Throughout Thursday, congressmen, congresswomen, reporters, diplomats, and more were all defending Joe and Mika, saying that Trump had crossed a line. I get that, that yesterday was a special kind of hell, but this is the same man who grabs ‘em by the p-ssy and has allegedly sexually assaulted and harassed dozens of women. Let’s not pretend that it’s a brand new revelation that Donald Trump is a a f–king misogynist.

Joe and Mika were the subjects of such intense focus – and sympathy – that they were expected to actually directly answer the president’s tweets. Think about this world we’re living in for a moment and soak that in. Joe and Mike wrote a scathing op-ed in today’s Washington Post called “Donald Trump is not well.” It’s a good read and they call out Bigly’s lies. They also agreed to postpone their vacation so they could appear on-air on Morning Joe this morning. I watched it live, and while I usually f–king hate how Joe talks over Mika, I found it slightly endearing this morning, that Joe wanted to defend his co-host and girlfriend/partner. We, as a society, should not expect Mika to stand alone and defend herself against the president. We, as a society, should come together and defend her, if only because we’re next on Trump’s hit list.

Here’s a short clip of Mika & Joe this morning, I’ll update when the full video comes in, because it was good and shady. Joe goes OFF. Update: I hope this video works.

Update #2: THIS STORY, my God.

Oh, Melania. Such a unique approach to being the First Lady of the United States. That was an OFFICIAL statement.

It infuriates me that THIS is what gets Republican leadership upset finally. This is nothing new. But few, if any of them, actually tweeted back TO him or called him directly about it. And they remain silent about his attacks on judges, the Khan family, and so many, many more.

I had the opportunity to meet former UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon the other night. These people don’t belong on the same planet as such a man.

    • Kitten says:

“It infuriates me that THIS is what gets Republican leadership upset finally. This is nothing new”

THIS!!! What Trump did was gross/crass/disgusting and completely TYPICAL. I find it appalling that THIS–and not the fact that 25M are about to lose healthcare–is what they choose to get sanctimonious about. They are all deplorable AF.

      • B n A fn says:

Kitten: Thanks for ALL your comments today. Also, I saw on tv about a hour ago that 45 wants to repeal health care without replacing. That’s the latest.

    • Megan says:

And he’s doubling down by tweeting about Mika and Joe again this morning.

I keep saying it … work fast Mueller, Trump is becoming more unhinged by the second.

      • Stella in NH says:

Although I want #45 out of office ASAP, we would end up getting the alternative–Pence. He is far worse. We would be dealing with sharia law in the “christian” sense.

    • LMAO says:

Consider it the proverbial straw ….if you accept / agree it was bad, and it was, then accept that it was just one too many,

Healthcare reform / repeal / replace / fix….whatever…..needs to happen. What we have is not sustainable either. I’m not saying what was proposed is better, but I am saying what we have isn’t sustainable. So fixing this mess is going to be messy, ugly and brutal.

I’m not mixing up two totally different issues. The republican leadership does need to hold the buffoon like entity in he Whitehouse accountable for abhorrent behavior. And the repubs and Dems need to come together and find solutions for healthcare, (Single payer, non profit, seems the only viable one to me, I hate saying that, but it is the conclusion I’ve come to ).

      • jwoolman says:

Yes, we really should go for Medicare for All as a basis for an option divorced from the private insurers. Let people use private insurance for extras, as they do in other countries. Medicare would be a good start because it’s an existing structure, rather than struggling to put together something entirely new. It also fulfills a regulatory function, preventing prices from going to impossible heights. But the Republicans in recent years have been trying to cripple Medicare also.

The ACA was actually a decent attempt to deal with private insurers, not the “self-imploding nightmare” that Republican mythology casts it as. There is no good reason not to simply fix the problems that have surfaced, but that would require extending subsidies and Medicaid and putting some regulatory brakes on the insurers and not cutting back on taxes for the 1% very rich. The Republicans fight this because they want to go in the opposite direction. It is important to remember that their push to repeal and replace is not really about health care. It is and always has been about big tax cuts for the very rich.

      • Janetdr says:

Jwoolman, yes, yes, and yes. It is unbelievable that we don’t have this already!

      • Tiffany :) says:

Yes, what we have is not sustainable largely due to the efforts of the GOP.

      • Susannah says:

Richard Nixon (Nixon!) was more progressive than anyone on the liberal side of the Republican party of today. Nixon Proposed a Comprehensive Health Care Plan all the way back in ’74.

        Nixon said:
“Without adequate health care, no one can make full use of his or her talents and opportunities. It is thus just as important that economic, racial and social barriers not stand in the way of good health care as it is to eliminate those barriers to a good education and a good job.”

I can’t believe how far the GOP has fallen. They took money from the crazies, let them in the door and they took over the whole party like ants at a picnic!

    • Embee says:

You know what else I find infuriating? The fact that everyone is focused on the face lift portion of the comment and not the fact that his accusing her of being dumb and crazy, which is the absolutely fracking typical fat-old-white boy attempt to silence a woman or a person of color. That, more than the facelift crap, reveals his disgusting sexism.

Also there is no way he knows Mika’s I.Q., so more ridiculous lies.

      • jwoolman says:

Mika’s response in the video was very sensible. She is not bent out of shape by his tweets personally but sees them as a danger sign for the country. (She had relatively minor work done and has always been open about such things.) She actually didn’t attend the party Trump references. But she and Joe did come later in casual clothes just to interview someone. I doubt that Trump even saw her, much less any blood.

Trump’s fixation with women and blood seems to run very deep, and as she and Joe point out- his tweets are disturbing because they highlight the risk of having an emotionally fragile POTUS in such dangerous times. He is so easily played, as Mika says. His outburst seems to be a reaction to a joke she made about those fake TIME covers he put in some of his clubs. Joe pointed out that when he himself criticizes Trump, Trump tends to attack Mika. He really has a serious problem with women in particular. Joe says he has been getting calls from high level government people and diplomats saying they are really scared and don’t know what to do with Trump.

      • jwoolman says:

Ember – and ironically, Mika is obviously much smarter than Trump, who at best is of average intelligence. Just listening to her for a few minutes makes that obvious. That’s why Trump keeps saying how smart he is, how he has such a good brain. If it were really true, he wouldn’t need to say it. I’ve known some very smart people and they never announce their intelligence. It shows in everything they do, even if just pushing a broom. And they see themselves from the inside and know all the doubts and incomplete information and failed attempts they make, so they typically don’t think of themselves as particularly smart. It becomes obvious only when you compare the way they think to other people, and among my students, they typically didn’t understand why they were getting better grades than their friends when they felt they themselves weren’t working as hard as their friends.

Trump, on the other hand, shows frequently that he isn’t too bright and is certainly extraordinarily ignorant. I doubt that he did his own work in college (that economics program he was in was actually at the undergraduate level and his classmates don’t seem to actually remember him). He just wanted the draft deferments, which I respect because it was a stupid war and no government has the right to force anybody to unwillingly risk life and limb for anything. But I don’t think he had the ability to actually do the academic work well enough. That’s why he is so clueless about basic economic concepts. He never really studied economics. He knew how to do certain things that his dad showed him how to do, but kept messing up because he didn’t have instincts except for cheating people.

    • Alarmjaguar says:

      Amen!

    • holly hobby says:

Someone should copy and paste all those Repub pols’ tweets to Orange Lard Butt. I bet that will set him off. They should have tagged him but some kind citizen can do that now!

    • CTgirl says:

The Donald is cray cray but it’s inaccurate to state that someone who hosts a tv show is a private citizen. They are part of the media/entertainment machine, unlike the actual private citizen who isn’t on tv that checks you out at the grocery store.

  2. Beth says:

Trump is such a pig. When will the Trump disaster end? Again, I apologize to the entire world for the U.S. making you have to see and hear him. I promise we’re not all like him

    • Pumpkin Pie says:

He could aspire to be a pig. Pig are useful and intelligent animals :)

    • polonoscopy says:

It’s ok, girl. Every country in the world has had a dark or embarrassing period you didn’t hear about. As a Torontonian, I know that I was fucking mortified about both Rob Ford and Stephen Harper and wanted everyone to know that never voted for either. You’re going to be ok. We support you.

      • NeoCleo says:

You know, as a US citizen I am very touched by your reply. Still feel terrified of the future, but thank you for your sympathy.

      • ELX says:

Franklin Pierce was a raving alcoholic, we survived him and we’ll survive fat, dumb and lazy too. Look on the bright side–keeping him occupied with TV is probably better than having him in actual meetings, trying to ” be President.”

      • jwoolman says:

At least Harper didn’t control a huge nuclear arsenal….

      • jwoolman says:

ELX – the doofus Presidents in the 1800s did not control a nuclear arsenal, had to do surveillance the old fashioned way (no electronic gadgets), had slow communication with citizens (no tv, no radio, no phones – just stuff in writing) and it was hard to do demagoguery in the later years of the century via Morse code. They also had to do obscene wars and massacres up close and personal at least, while modern versions can be done at a distance by dropping bombs and sending in drones (maximizing civilian deaths and injuries while minimizing American casualties).

President Tweeter can do damage on a much grander scale, much more remotely, and much more quickly. We can’t afford doofus Presidents any more.

    • Shelly says:

This!! I’m so embarrassed that friends I made while living overseas see our country as such a cesspool and may now think all Americans are lunatics for electing this man. He’s proven time and again that he’s an egomaniac who hates women. Please don’t judge all Americans based on our “leader”. He has forever sullied the most prestigious office and I’m afraid of what he might do next.

  3. RBC says:

Watched Anderson Cooper 360 last night and seeing Jeffrey Lord rather subdued trying to defend trump’s latest Twitter outburst was fascinating. He really had to dig deep to find a way to explain/defend trump.

    • Beth says:

I wanted to punch Jeffery Lord last night. It sounded like he was saying that if women want to be equal to men, we shouldn’t complain about people like Trump making those comments. Like usual, he had to talk about the Clintons and Obamas to defend Trump.
I admire Anderson Cooper and Don Lemon for never screaming at some of those people

      • RBC says:

Anderson looked like he had some sarcastic remark on the tip of his tongue at times, but he kept it professional. He could see Jeffrey was shovelling a truck load of crap in his attempt to defend trump.

      • Megan says:

I want to punch Jeffrey Lord every night.

      • Beth says:

Thankfully Jack Kingston wasn’t on last night. I mute it when Kingston talks. His voice sounds like he’s stuffed up or pinching his nose. He’s also VERY punchable.
I love when Anderson makes a sarcastic remark or rolls his eyes. When he commented that Jeffery would defend Trump taking a dump on his desk, I couldn’t stop laughing.

      • holly hobby says:

One line we should always say to Lord, and Hickabee Sanders (why the perpetual frownie face?): Would you say those exact words to your mother? The rule of thumb is, if it’s not good for your mom, chances are it’s not good for another woman too.

        Does that make sense?

      • nicole says:

I cant stand Jeffrey Lord, no matter what Trump does or says he defends him with always referring back to President Obama or Hillary/Bill Clinton, he makes my blood boil, were did they get him from, he is so annoying.

  4. grabbyhands says:

I wish all these asshats had been this outraged BEFORE the election. As low and disgusting as this was, I’m puzzled why THIS was suddenly what made everyone upset. His entire campaign revolved around behavior just like this and had continued into his presidency.

Having said that, I admit that I was flabbergasted by his camp’s response. For some reason I wasn’t expecting it to be that unapologetically belligerent. I don’t know why. His wife’s response didn’t surprise me at all because I’m 100% sure she didn’t have anything to do with writing it-that statement was issued for her. But to have his new press witch come out with “He’s fighting fire with fire” was just..I can’t even.

The most depressing thing about all of this is that it was probably intended as a distraction, and it succeeded. Not only that, but ultimately not a damn thing will come of it. I give it a week or less until the noise dies down and everyone forgets about it.

    • STRIPE says:

The sad thing is as long as they have the ability to give tax cuts to the 1% and have a shot at another Supreme Court seat, they don’t care what he does. They’ll say they’re appalled etc etc but they won’t do anything. Nothing will change.

      • Imqrious2 says:

Stripe, I wholeheartedly agree. They will make noises, but that’s it. There is not one set of intact b@lls between the lot of them to stand up and stop this orange abomination.

    • swak says:

If Melania’s response was issued for her and she did not write it, she should have at least read it and approved/disapproved it. That is still on her. I would not let anyone issue something for me that I have not read. So, no, she does not get a pass on this.

      • grabbyhands says:

@swak Oh, I wasn’t trying to imply that she got a pass. Just that her response, which is being offered up as some kind of passionate defense of her husband’s “toughness” was so obviously constructed for her, as are most of her “official statements”. I don’t really feel sorry for her at all. Her kid? Yes. Her-not so much.

      • swak says:

I feel sorry for the child also. Sorry if I took your comment wrong. Everyone gives her a pass so many times just because she is married to Trump. You reap what you sow and she wanted this marriage and could get out any time if she wanted to do so. Barron, unfortunately, is of no use to Trump right now and so I don’t think there would be much of a battle (other than to look like a “loving” father) over custody. He didn’t pay much attention to his other children until they became useful.

      • Oh-Dear says:

I think it is a very telling tweet from Melania. He is a bully and that’s what she has to live with and why she hasn’t physically left him. He would see it as a compliment to his toughness but I see it as a porch light being turned on (in some areas, women who needed help from their abuser would turn on their porch light. My grandma used to do it when my granddad was out drinking. The neighbours would be a little more visible and a little more present).

      • B n A fn says:

I don’t feel sorry for Melanie, she sold her sole to the devil, I hope she’s happy. Also, she did say before the election she did not want sympathy from anyone when the p$$$y tape came out. Now it appears her job is to sit or stand by her husband when he has visiting dignitaries at the Oval Office. Most of the times she looks so sad and unhappy, ha ha ha ha.

      • ELX says:

No one should have any expectations where Hooker Barbie is concerned. Mrs. Trump will pick up her check come hell or high water.

      • Megan says:

I think this was intended as a “I told you so” to Joe and Mika.

      • jwoolman says:

Swak – it seems unrealistic to expect Melania to have the power to refuse approval to such things or to express any displeasure with her husband. He’s a raging narcissist. He has no interest in raising her son, but he has highly focused interest in revenge on anybody he decides has slighted him. He is quite capable of insisting on custody in a divorce out of vengeance. Even joint custody would be disastrous for the child and his mother.

We will never know what Melania really thinks about such things until Donald dies. She will probably be cautious for the boy’s sake even after he is 18, as long as his father is alive.

    • ORIGINAL T.C. says:

Mika has been calling him a liar and psychological unhinged for months but he said nothing or didn’t care about that. He went off this time because she made fun of his tiny hands being partially hidden in his fake Time magazine cover that was recently revealed. He cannot stand for anyone to point out his TINY HANDS. It’s personal so he went personal on her the only way he knows how: bringing out his hate for the female gender and their “bleeding”. He is so petty and egomaniacal.

I think it was a male writer for vanity fair who first pointed out his small hands. To this day Trump still considers the man an enemy.

      • Christin says:

I’ve expected him to tweet at them, and think she and Joe all but admitted today that they were baiting him yesterday. The “teensy” comment is exactly what spun him into finally firing back.

It took him nearly two hours to not-quite rebut the tabloid story they mentioned this morning. He more or less confirmed something happened. Just unbelievable how he spends his time, and what an example is set.

      • Annetommy says:

Yep T.C., it was Graydon Carter, the editor of VF. Apparently afterwards trump used to send Carter drawings of his hands, made by tracing around them, with the comment “not so small are they?” Totally ridiculous and pathetic. These tweets are rock bottom, but I expect there’s scope for them to get even worse.

      • FLORC says:

They are very tiny hands. They make CeeLos hands look monstrous!

      • B n A fn says:

Now I understand why Mika was so upset several months ago. I noticed she started calling 45 out on his lies. I remember one morning she looked into the camera and said something to the effect you don’t know what you have done or what you doing addressing it to 45. I guess that was the time he was trying to blackmail them and bringing her daughters into his madness. I guess that was when that story was to be printed at the national enquirer. Now everything is clear, he was blackmailing them and they decided to go hard at him, that he was unhinged and a liar.

      • holly hobby says:

It was the editor of Vanity Fair who pointed it out BTW.

      • holly hobby says:

Maybe if he lost all his lard, the hands will appear the same size as his body?

    • Megan says:

Sara Huckabee Sanders needs to hand in her woman card. She is officially cancelled.

      • NeoCleo says:

        AGREED!!!

      • Emma33 says:

Yes, she is one truly disturbing person. At least with Spicer you could see he was giving himself ulcers trying to defend the indefensible, but she seems to be actually enjoying herself.

      • Oh-Dear says:

And her Christian card. Lawrence O’Donnell had a great analysis last night about her religious response about fighting fire with fire. Jesus actually said not to do that because there would be no one left to see. What he actually said was to give the person your other cheek and leave the situation with pride, humility and pity.

      • holly hobby says:

I think she got fed that lie from Dad Hickabee (that is on purpose). He was on another show saying the same thing and the other people on the panel weren’t having it either and shut him down.

    • Tiffany :) says:

“when her husband gets attacked, he will punch back 10 times harder”

This is SO DUMB. He’s president. He’s going to get attacked a BILLION times per day. The job makes you a target. A wise person would not waste his time “punching back 10 times harder” in response to EVERY critique that is lobbed at him. He has no sense of priorities.

    • nicole says:

I really dont think the media/journalist thought he would win to be honest.

  5. STRIPE says:

These Republicans are the same people saying that giving less money to Medicaid isn’t a “cut” in funding. Their mental and verbal gymnastics are Olympic level. I stopped being surprised by them months ago.

  6. hmmm says:

Joe and Mika were fanatically pro-Trump until they weren’t- several times. No sympathy. Ever.

    • STRIPE says:

I think that’s why he’s so hostile towards them. He sees them as disloyal and that’s a cardinal sin to him.

    • STRIPE says:

I think that’s why he’s so hostile towards them. He sees them as disloyal and that’s a cardinal sin to him. If they were against him the whole time, he’d still be mean but it this vicious

      • hmmm says:

They deserve everything they get because they supported this bilious, vindictive, etc. etc., moron. Now they want pity.

      • Jeo says:

        Hmmm

No Mika does not deserve everything she gets. Donald Trump is your typical bully who has always been able to get away with everything. Just because they used to be close to him before and now they are not does not mean the President has the right to personally attack someone because she dared to criticise something he has done. Trump is nasty who seems to have a fixation with women, and especially women who dare to speak up against him. He crossed a line and you should not be saying they deserve it. Where is Melania’s stupid crusade against cyber bullying? Oh yeah, it was all bs!!

      • third ginger says:

The issue also goes far beyond Mika and Joe. It’s about the total lack of dignity, our reputation around the world, and the ridiculous distractions that keep the administration from getting anything done.

      • Kitten says:

It’s not about WHO he bullied though and anyone who is focusing on that is completely missing the point.

This man is of poor character and weak temperament and was hired to LEAD our country to “greatness” and his perpetual tantrums should be alarming to all US citizens.

This is a man who cannot handle relatively-benign criticisms from two MSM talk show hosts and he’s supposed to represent the strength of our nation?

Trump is not the embodiment of the hard-working businessman/populist/deal-maker narrative that he ran his campaign on, he is a draft-dodger who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He’s a man who has never faced an ounce of adversity in his life and has consistently had everything handed to him on a silver platter. He is a spoiled, entitled, privileged, and arrogant man who has never been held accountable for his actions.
Deep down, he’s just an insecure coward who’s mother never loved him.

This isn’t about Mika and Joe, this is about an American president who is a universal laughingstock, a punchline.

Do you think any world leader finds Trump to be strong or intimidating or even someone to be taken seriously on any level?
The President’s words MATTER, how he conducts himself MATTERS, his perpetual tantrums and juvenile behavior MATTERS.

It matters not because of who he is targeting, it matters because it sends a very clear message to the rest of the world that this man cannot handle even the most silly, inane criticisms.
It matters because it shows that our so-called leader is nothing more than a weak, sniveling, spoiled little child.

I mean look, I get it: Mika and Joe suck but let’s not lose sight of the larger issues that this incident represents and that is one that quite literally endangers our country’s safety.

      • Christin says:

Kitten makes a point that was also brought up by Joe and Mika today. They were aware he would likely fire back at her / them. What does that say about temperament to the rest of the world? He can be played, just as HRC tried to point out in the debates. He is easily baited, and that is downright scary.

      • Megan says:

        @Kitten + 1 billion

      • Oh-Dear says:

@kitten – this article speaks to the point that Trump has been detrimental for the US. The top earning countries were ranked internally and externally. Canada is number one (yay us!) but the US is 38 out of 55, and they attribute the drop to Trump. Also interesting – since Trump’s arrival on the political scene, Mexico’s reputation has risen. And he had his first fundraiser for his re-election 2 days ago, so he isn’t planning on going anywhere. But that picture of the eagle is so poignant.

      • AnnaKist says:

        Brilliant post, Kitten. Brava! ⭐️⭐️⭐️

    • Megan2 says:

I know a lot of people hate Mika and Joe for their past support of Trump. I’m judging them pretty harshly for that myself. But… what keeps playing through my mind is how many times I have positively RAGED about the blindly loyal Trumpsters, and wondered how the eff they can still support him. I have asked myself one million times “why won’t they turn on him, how can’t they see??” So… I mean I’m side-eyeing them like heck, but a part of me really feels like I should give them some (conditional) forgiveness, because this is exactly what I’ve been wanting Trump supporters to do. I don’t think Mika or ANY woman deserves those kinds of comments, and I’m glad they’re hitting back. I’m glad they are no longer supporters. I don’t know what was their “come to Jesus” moment, but I’m trying to be grateful they had it because the more of his supporters that turn on him the better for the rest of us.

I think the most terrifying comment I’ve read about Trump is “there is no rock bottom.” Because it’s true… every day he says or does something worse. Every single day him and his party walk around with their facial sphincters twisted into ever-smugger grins. The limit does not exist, people… so sure, I’ll give Mika and Joe a chance because frankly it’s uplifting to me that ANYONE is willing to turn their backs on this clown and his GOP minions.

      • holly hobby says:

Anyone who would speak out and push back against this turd gets points from me. What can he do? He can’t throw them in jail for talking. If he thinks he can, he should go live in North Korea.

      • jwoolman says:

I don’t think Mika or Joe actually supported him for President. They had been friends for years (she said that she really likes Melania) and like most people, assumed he was just running for publicity for his tv endeavors. He had entertainment value. At some point they realized more was going on and that he was dangerous, and that’s when they shifted. I think Mika was always polically at odds with him.

Trump, like other malignant narcissists, is quite capable of being charming when it benefits him.

    • Annetommy says:

However nice/nasty they were to trump, it’s totally inappropriate for the POTUS to send those tweets.

They weren’t necessarily Trump supporters because they thought he had a good chance of being elected. Gave that warning to the left and welll….here we are with Trump. They did have him call in but that is necessarily supporting a candidate. They asked, he accepted to call in. Their failing is they exposed him to those sitting on the fence viewers that watched their show. Some of those people ended up voting for him because he did call up on their show. Trump actually came off as more “sane” and likable when he called up on their show. Showing another lying face of his, faking. So he probably ended up appealing to some viewers. Softened Mika and Joe’s view of him until at points they did try to “explain” all that was Trump. Which can look like support but were rather defending him at times. Mika for the most part pointed out his flaws from the beginning. Joe is more of the butt kisser and think it was because him/Mika and Trump were friends before he even ran.

Really Melania? There are times when I wonder if she’s trolling him with the cyber bullying and the hand swats, but then she comes out and defends this disgusting behavior? It reminds me of her birther comments and I’m just so over this whole family. I would respect Melania or Ivanka if one of them could call him out publicly and say: No. This is not acceptable adult behavior. Please be a better role model for our children and grandchildren. As a parent I want him out of office and in jail so badly. Because I want my kids to see bullies never win.

    • Christin says:

I echo your hope that this story ends the right way. In the early days of movies, one of the rules was that the bad person had to receive their comeuppance by the movie’s end. A moral ending is certainly needed now, as power-hungry greed and bad behavior are not what kids need to mirror.

Any private sector executive would have been canned long before this, if they chose to repeatedly lie and insult others. There are people in white-collar prison for taking freebies while holding public sector exec positions. This typically doesn’t go unpunished in the real world.

When Melina said her issue would be cyber bullying, I didn’t realize she meant she was pro-bully.

Everything I said yesterday. All his defenders could do was squirm in their seats and throw out what about Kathy Griffin and Johnny Depp. One has nothing to do with the other. Kellyanne was on GMA and per usual refused to answer George’s questions. It almost looked as though her nose was going to start bleeding, oops. trumps equating blood and women is sickening. It is so ironic that all three of his wives and his beloved daughter have had plastic surgery big time and supposedly Mika didn’t…..but the truth and trump have never sat at the same table. Sociopaths are incapable of remorse. To be continued…..

  10. justcrimmles says:

So, who wants to remind him/them that he didn’t win the popular vote?

The responses from Pearl Clutcher and (“from”) the future ex-Mrs. Trump reek of a junior high spat. We should all be shaking, America! Orange Voldemort fights fire with fire! He’ll punch back ten times harder! He has tired cliches on his side! Because he sure as f#ck doesn’t have right.

    • Rice says:

@justcrimmles, but he did win the popular vote because illegal immigrants, blah blah, rigged election, blah blah, Obama, blah blah, Crooked Hillary, blah blah, Comey, blah blah, covfefe, blah blah, the greatest chocolate cake, blah blah, biggest inauguration numbers, blah blah. I just want to know what his fascination is with “blood”. He brings it up in the worst ways possible. I watched Hardball last night and even it was brought it up by Chris Matthews. It’s disgusting I tell you.

    • Mermaid says:

      @Jane
I have a theory about the blood thing. Maybe he’s been told many times by various wives and women that it’s not a good time of the month to have certain relations if you know what I mean. As a way to get out of a certain activity (I’m apologizing profoundly for the visual). So therefore he associates blood with being turned down? Just a guess. Omg every day he gets worse and worse. I’m really hoping there’s some truth to the Wapo sitting on a big story and it may be coming out tonight. Wouldn’t that be the best 4th of July weekend ever?!?!

      • TheOtherOne says:

@Mermaid I’ll take your explanation. I was wondering why he is so obsessed with that time of month as well. OMG could you imagine if a group of free bleeders went on a tour of the White House when he was there? Oh I think that would definitely get him some time in the asylum and us a deserved break.

My friend thinks it is because when a girl turns into a woman she has a period and he hates women. So he probably thinks periods are disgusting. He is obsessed by his own revulsion. He should be repulsed by his image in the mirror but they probably put old photos of him blown up to fit the mirror so he sees himself at 30 every morning. The fact that the image doesn’t blink escapes him.

      • Christin says:

I have tried to figure out what is the basis of his repeated repulsion. Interesting theories. I also wonder if it implies overall weakness? It’s hard to rationalize the irrational.

      • Jane says:

@Mermaid…I pretty much had the same idea. I am glad that someone else has the same opinion.

  13. Indiana Joanna says:

Seeing how hateful he is towards women, he probably threatened Melania that she should defend him or else. Huckabee Sanders looked scared yesterday. All his team looks scared. That they choose to work/stay with him is very bizarre.

baby fists is a deeply disturbed man. Why won’t anyone in Congress come out and say he is dangerous? He is consumed with the kind of rage and resentments that make someone attack people with scissors or mow them down with vans. baby fists has the mental and tempermental make up of a terrorist. He especially hates women. He will destroy the country by perpetuating his strance that he must be seen as a god to everyone.

    • Triple Cardinal says:

He probably threatened Melania? No doubt.

I’m reminded of a photo of Trump looking over Melania’s shoulder as she made out her election voting card.

  15. Shelley says:

Less no forget he did this abusive stuff to Rosie ODonnell (yep, I know she may not get any sympathy) and Katy Tur. It’s just that we can never get to the bottom of the barrel with him.
Let’s not talk about Ivanka and Ivana’s remodeling. I feel sorry for Ivana because she had so much plastic surgery, she is literally falling apart and trying to pretend that she’s twenty and hot.

    • third ginger says:

Yes. I have been very interested in Katy Tur’s responses. For example, she immediately disputed Huckabee Sanders’ lies that Trump had never incited violence. She recalled Trump’s statements at rallies during the campaign.

      • Tate says:

Katy Tur is not having the bullshit. Watching her response yesterday I could see a mixture of anger and fear. That orange monster turned a crowd on her during the campaign. She knows his abuse first hand.

      • PunkyMomma says:

Cheeto Mussolini was horrible to Katy Tur during the campaign. I hope NBC paid her a ton of cash for the crap she had to endure covering him.
and yes, Tate , her fear and disgust was visible yesterday as she recounted her experiences. She still seems to be shaken by it all, which leads me to wonder what he actually said to her off mike and camera.

    • Triple Cardinal says:

Ivanka was shocked at Trump’s vindictiveness? What nonsense.

This woman lived with her dad for years and has seen this level of rage and worse. Her statement that she was taken aback is simply another Trump (a Kushner, now) lying in public.

Is there ANYBODY in the Trump-Kushner family who has any scruples or morals? I mean, I’m just talking the basics here. Basic morality. Basic civility.

      ANYBODY?

  16. Rice says:

This “thing” doesn’t deserve the status of human. IMO, those tweets represent an attack on all women and makes me extremely nauseous to hear people defend his actions. BTW, his defenders are just ecstatic that the guy who holds the highest office in America and one of the highest in the world, is making it acceptable and normal for them to show their true colours without any consequences. Every time I think the bar can’t go any lower, Drumpf simply shoves it closer to the ground and easily limbos under it.

    • Oh-Dear says:

And a love of reality TV shows that celebrate opulence, self-indulgence and vapidness. I truly think that people thought this was acceptable behaviour in a candidate because it is the dialogue so many watch on reality tv. Trump didn’t normalize this behaviour, the reality shows did and he capitalized on it. And now we’re not talking about the very direct link between Flynn, Erik York and the hacking sources about the Hillary Clinton emails. I don’t think Trump is smart, but I do think he is savvy. He knows that people love a good cat fight and love to take sides. They’ve watched the Real House Wives and Kardashians do it for year. People get emotionally invested and react, and defend both participants. So he creates these scripts that people can react to and get emotionally invested in, which distracts from the political sh*tshow that is going on policy-wise. He’s a great producer, and awful leader and horrible human being but he is definitely feeding America’s appetite.

      • jwoolman says:

President Tweeter can try to distract us all he wants. He’s not distracting the one who matters most. While Trump fiddles, er, tweets – Mueller and his team continue to relentlessly investigate.

@jwoolman – here’s hoping! I cringe at the thought that he is forever memorialized in American history, I keep hoping he will be disgraced.

  21. boredblond says:

One new revelation that people in the WH called joe and told him if he called trump to ‘apologize’ for calling out his chronic lies, trump would stop the enquirer from printing their typical garbage..ah, blackmail..say, that’s what mr.ivanka’s dad did time for…

  22. Triple Cardinal says:

    Understand two things.

    1. As far low as this cretin has gone, he will in fact go lower. There. Is. No Floor. So don’t be surprised at his next hateful/vulgar/lying/whatever statement or action.

    2. And in the overall arc of his time in office, realize that this is what you get when you put a bush-league amateur into a professional position. The work that goes undone. The lack of focus. The poor choices made. Others constantly putting out fires that he himself sets and cleaning up after him, as if he were some circus elephant.

Don’t expect any intelligent or fair consideration from this carney barker, this TV huckster. He doesn’t have the capacity for it and he doesn’t have any interest in it. He’s incapable of improvement.

He has the ability to lie, to exaggerate and to attack. And that’s…that. Don’t expect anything else…from him or his groupies.

    • Zan says:

You are right. The man who wrote “Art of the Deal” told everyone who would listen before the election exactly that–there is no limit to how low Trump will go. I know many of my fellow citizens don’t care, but they should.
His behavior, as usual, as proven, as proclaimed by his own words–either spoken aloud, or typed with his “teensy” fingers—is outrageous, but not shocking. If you are truly shocked, you haven’t paid attention for a long, long while.

    • CynicalAnn says:

Exactly. But what is far more upsetting to me is that the Republicans are willing to put party over country, and the MILLIONS of people who are still ready to stand by him because “Benghazi” or “her emails”. They are willing to put up with this crap because he’s not Hillary. It’s mind boggling and infuriating.

    • Mathilde says:

I’ve seen power hungry narcissistic windbags in high places behave in the exact same way as D. Trump. You don’t need to look any further than the Catholic church and the sex abuse scandals. It’s how these kinds of people try to hide their staggering incompetence. I feel truly sorry for the professionals around the orange fool who have to deal with this. It never ends well!

  23. chermcherm says:

So this is a bridge to far? This? Not his outward disdain towards minorities, immigrants, women and the disabled? Not the fact that he uses the office of the presidency to enrich himself? Not lying to his voters or his support of taking healthcare away from americans and voter suppression of millions? Not colluding with a foreign government? A tweet to a tv show host is where we draw the line? Yeah sure alright, eff you very much.

It’s also not surprising that every Republican will disavow his statements up and down, but still vote in lock step with his orders. Remember when someone changed the invertebrate page on twiki to include Ryan? Should change it to the Republican establishment as a whole. All bark and no bite. Spare me your “this is not presidential” garbage. Stop pretending you care.

    • Jerusha says:

  24. themummy says:

Oh my GOD, that second video!! This is just pure crazytown. And it has all been so normalized that these stories now just have no impact whatsoever where in another time, under any other President, it would have shook the world with its impact. This is just crazy and scary.

I cannot express my hate for Cheeto AnusMouth or the degree to which I look down on him with absolute disgust.

    • mander says:

Yes! As bad as his tweets were, and they were AWFUL, blackmail is a whole different level! I was waiting to read more comments about that. My mouth fell open, like the other hosts on the show.

      • themummy says:

I hope this blackmail story doesn’t just get glossed over. I think it is a huge deal.

      • Tina says:

Everything will be glossed over. It has been, and it will be. All the media can do is report on it, and soon enough they won’t be able to do that. Two of the branches of your government are controlled by venal, craven, soulless opportunists and charlatans. And the third branch will also be so if Anthony Kennedy retires. They are taking away your ability to do anything about this. They are disenfranchising you. Soon it will be too late.

  25. Jerusha says:

“claiming that Trump “fights fire with fire.” Actually, she said, “fights fahr with fahr.” Just listen. It’s Southern.

Seriously, though, she’s pathetic with her selective Christianity.

    • third ginger says:

I’m a native southerner. She is a disgrace to the region, and Lord knows we’ve had lots of disgraces. For SNL, Aidy Bryant is too cute to impersonate her. I demand it be Zach Galifinakus because she sounds just like him when he does southern characters!

  26. Monsi says:

I don’t know much about Mika but certainly even if she is a terrible person and journalist she deserves to be treated with respect and dignity as every other human being on this planet just for the fact of being a human being. The fact that we pretend to have the right to choose who deserves respect or not is the exact same unfair and arbitrary treatment the far right wing give to minorities, Muslims, Latinos, LGBT community and others.

The fact Trump used the white house staff to blackmail a private citizen is incredibly frightening and dangerous. My father was 19 and in the Navy when the Pinochet coup happened in 1973, he refused to take part, he was taken tortured and jailed for 3 years. After he was released my father could never find a job again (until 1990 when the dictatorship ended) my mom is a social worker, whenever she found a job, she was let go soon after they found out who she was married to. I was born in the late 80′s (my mom wasn’t sure about having children because of this) so I don’t have memories of this but my mom said every once in a while a black car parked in front of our house for weeks, we lived in a small town… They weren’t from there.. That was the secret police following my dad.

My point is: when resources of government are used to punish a private citizen for a whimp of the authority of turn that is a dangerous path that usually dictatorships follow. It’s frightening, and must be stopped as soon as possible because it could get worst.

And about Republicans, I don’t know what you guys even expect from them, they’ll say this is unpresidential and unbecoming but that would be it, they are happy full filing their agenda while all this mess unfolds.

    • Mathilde says:

Your parents’ story should be repeated on the news over and over again so that people really get it. It’s where it’s heading that’s for sure! Add to that all the people who will soon be without health insurance and you cannot emphasize enough how bleak the future looks. I’m trying to understand how this happened. Despite all the wars going on in the Middle East at present, there is plenty of research that points out that the world is a safer and more prosperous place than ever before in human history, so why then is Trump’s scare mongering so compelling to so many people?

  27. Brittney B. says:

Holy s***, the blackmailing! The bragging about National Enquirer plants! (That one’s election fraud, no?)

This revelation felt like the beginning of the end, but then I remembered… so did the Access Hollywood tape. So did the Russian dossier. Nothing matters anymore.

    • Tate says:

It really does feel like nothing matters anymore. I am just completely exhausted from this shit.

    • Christin says:

And taxpayer funded staff allegedly spending time contacting the co-hosts to encourage them to give in. Apologize to him and the story won’t happen. It’s mind-boggling.

  28. Rapunzel says:

    Two things:
    1. I was disturbed by Joe’s story of the politician who called them about Trump going off on Mika during a meeting on healthcare. That is so creepy! And evidence that Trump is unhinged.

    2. Trump’s most disturbing tweet this morning was not about Morning Joe, but about Obamacare. He’s laying the groundwork for it being repealed but not replaced!! This is even worse than the Republican bill!! We must stop this!! Call your senators and reps and governors, even.

  29. Tw says:

      • third ginger says:

In all seriousness, I want to ask a person like Huckabee Sanders what her reward is for all the lies and support of the unsupportable. I always wonder if it is issues such as the desire that no poor, desparate woman ever have a legal abortion or even access to health care or her hatred of LGBT people like my little girl. Those are my strong speculations, anyway.

    • holly hobby says:

It’s the down turned mouth and not all there eyes.

  30. why? says:

Mike and Joe are telling all. They also talked about how Trump used The Enquirer as a weapon against them. They said that they were asked to retract or say something nice about Trump and in exchange any negative stories written about them in the National Enquirer would stop. I didn’t even know that The Enquirer had written negative stories about Mika and Joe. Most importantly, it confirms that all those negative articles that were written about Ted Cruz, Obama, and Hillary in The National Enquirer, were sponsored and approved by Trump. Why is any of this acceptable?

Trump’s bad behavior isn’t going to stop until the GOP grow a backbone and impeach him. When enough going to be enough. He is using twitter as a bully pulpit and no one is willing to stop him. Why hasn’t twitter banned him yet?

    • Christin says:

My understanding of what they said is that the tabloid acted as if a story was imminent (trying to talk to her teen kids, etc.). When they claimed to have dirt from her ex-husband, she knew they were bluffing. During this time, the offer was made from the WH side, to squelch the story if they cooperated.

    • holly hobby says:

I hope Mueller is taking notes from all of this. Using your position to intimidate and for self enrichment is a big no no for govt employeees.

  31. why? says:

The first thing that Mika and Joe need to do is stop trying to convince everyone that the Trump we see today isn’t the same Trump that they knew in the past. Trump is the same man today that he was years ago, the only thing that has changed is that he is president. Trump was never kind, smart, considerate, or a good business man.

Notice how Mika and Joe’s experience with the dinner is similar to Comey. Trump says that Mika and Joe and Comey asked to have dinner with them. In reality, it was Trump who requested that Mika, Joe, and Comey would have dinner with him.

As usual, the fake president is spreading fake news again. He claims once again that MJ has low ratings. Trump has low approval ratings and because he is unable to deal with the negative thoughts he has about himself, he claims that it’s MJ that has low ratings.

Trump also just admitted that he has control of the stories that the National Enquirer prints. He said that Joe called him to stop the National Enquirer and he said no. So all those negative stories about Hillary, Obama, and the Ted Cruz were all done because Trump said “yes”.

Trump is having a meltdown. He is back to repealing Obama(If you repeal Obamacare, how then can you go back and try to replace it? So once again Trump demonstrates that he doesn’t know as much about healthcare as he claims) and threatening to send “federal help”( does this mean he is sending in troops ?)to Chicago.

When is enough going to be enough? This needs to stop. Trump uses National Enquirer, twitter, and Fox News to bully people.

  32. swak says:

And in the middle of all this distraction, Trump has pissed off China by making an arms deal with Taiwan.

    • holly hobby says:

Yeah I saw that. WTF can Congress cancel it?

    • Marie says:

      why is that bad?

      • swak says:

Don’t know if this makes sense, but here is what I found: Despite U.S. opposition, but very much in response to U.S.-China détente, the United Nations in 1971 voted for Beijing to replace Taiwan in the China seat. Finally in 1979, official U.S. ties with Taiwan were cut, in keeping with the U.S. acknowledgement that there could only be one legitimate government in China.

So by dealing with Taiwan, the Chinese feel we are recognizing two China’s. There was a fall out when Trump excepted a call from the president of Taiwan.

        Not sure this helps.

      • Tiffany :) says:

Here is an article about the “One China Policy”

  33. mayamae says:

Katy Tur stated yesterday that off the record, many WH staffers are actually pleased with Trumps’ actions. They feel they are unjustly “under siege” by the evil MSM, and they feel vindicated by Trump’s lashing out. It boggles the mind that they even speak these things off the record (although gutlessly). They truly live in an alternate reality.

On Morning Joe, someone finally said it (Donnie Deutsch). He questioned how a man who looks as revolting as Trump has the nerve to speak of others’ appearances. He said he didn’t care if NBC fired him. I guess we will see.

  34. Mrs. Ari Gold says:

Watching that video of Sarah Huckabee Sanders is almost more disturbing than Trump’s tweet. At the very end of the 7 minute video that Kaiser posted, she talks about God being the only moral standard. It is frightening to see this kind of religous talk coming from the White House. She is a religious zealot who went to a Baptist college. People like her on the religous right view Trump as the person who will carry out their Christian-Right agenda. So they don’t care if he is immoral b/c his actions speak louder than words and they will defend him to the death. She defended him like she really meant it. She is so transparent: you could see her disgust of progressives and anything that is not on the Christian right. The grip that the religious right has on this country is very, very scary and it was personified in her press briefing today. They are against everything America was founded on and everything this country truly stands for.

  35. seesittellsit says:

That’s the thing, he IS unhinged. A friend of mine has a motto: “You don’t talk to crazy.” But unfortunately, the media, the broadsheets, mainstream journos: they keep having to “reply” to him and by doing so, they keep up the pretense that he isn’t cuckoo. They should try ignoring him – what would happen if no one bothered to answer Trump?

If they keep responding to him as if he were a sane person doing bad things occasionally, they just keep helping him feed the facade of WIthin the Realm of Normalcy. He isn’t.

Stop talking to him and get out of the way of the truth.

  36. why? says:

Trump’s Voter Fraud Commission(which should really be called the Voter Suppression Commission) requested voter information from all the 50 states. So far 18 states refused to hand over that information. Someone stated that the majority of people that Trump has placed on the Voter Suppression Commission are people who experience in reducing Democratic voter turnout.

Once again Kristen Welker tried to normalize Trump. This is a problem. The press need to stop talking to Kristen Welker,Kelly Odonnell, and Hailly Jackson because it’s clear that they have an agenda. They praise Trump and then they get to travel with Trump and ask whatever they want in the Spicer/Sarah briefings without being disrespected by Spicer/Sarah. Kristen Welker tried to claim that Trump’s tweet about repealing Obamacare and then replacing it later, was a strategic move to get the Republicans moving. Trump tweeted about Obamacare because he is jealous of Obama, it had nothing to do with trying to put the pressure on Republicans. Trump doesn’t even know what’s in MitchMcare, just like he had no idea what was in the housecare and TrumpRyancare.

  37. why says:

The WH is still using Kristen Welker and Kelly Odonnell as their mouthpieces. Now they are reporting that everyone in the WH was pleased with Trump’s tweets about Mika and Joe and that Trump didn’t meet any opposition from any of his staffers for attacking Mika and Joe. According to Welker and Odonnell, The WH staffers viewed Trump’s attack on Mika and Joe as “winning” and that the only thing about the Mika and Joe attack that caused them to be upset was that it was overshadowing the “vindication” they received when CNN retracted a Trump Russian story and fired 3 people for it. This sounds like the time that Trump made his cabinet members go around the table and say something nice about him. It sounds like the WH staffers have been given orders to agree with anything and everything that Trump does no matter how ridiculous or bad it makes the WH look.

Who wants to bet that Jared was the number one person egging and praising Trump to attack Mika and Joe? It was Jared’s idea to fire Comey and then Jared wanted to strike back viciously against Mueller.

    • why says:

Now it’s being reported that the WH official who told Mika and Joe to call Trump and agree to cover him favorable and maybe the negative story about Mika and Joe in the National Enquirer would go away was Jared. Jared is just like his father. He egged on Trump to fire Comey, to attack Mueller, and now to blackmail Mika and Joe.

This is also disturbing. The National Enquirer wrote a negative story about how Melania was fat and a blimp when she got married. So that means that Trump used the National Enquirer to attack his own wife.

Based on Trump’s own admission, he controls what negative stories that the National Enquirer write. So Trump has used the National Enquirer to attack Obama, Hillary, Selma Hayek, Ted Cruz, his own wife, and Mika and Joe.

This ongoing drama is also a convenient deflection from the travel ban, health care, e-mails, and many other negative things.
