Kim Kardashian attended the premiere for Armenian-genocide film ‘The Promise’

Kim Kardashian, Cher and Kourtney Kardashian at The Promise Premiere in LA

Have you seen the trailers and ads for the new movie The Promise? That’s an awful film-title, isn’t it? With a name like The Promise, I would expect it to be one of those super-churchy films, but it’s not. It’s about the Armenian genocide. Or, let me be more specific, it’s a love story set against the backdrop of the Armenian genocide. I think this was supposed to be a bit like The English Patient, only the trailers make me feel… like this is sort of miscast? No offense to Oscar Isaac and Christian Bale, but… I don’t know. Here’s the trailer:

Anyway, the LA premiere was last night and Oscar Isaac wasn’t there (or he was not photographed at all if he was there). Christian Bale was there with his wife. But Bale barely got any attention, because the most famous Armenian-American in the world came out to the premiere: KIM KARDASHIAN. We are living in a world where Kim Kardashian goes to the same premiere as Christian Bale… and she gets more attention than Bale. Which I actually think Bale is probably fine with?

There was another famous Armenian-American in attendance: CHER! I actually didn’t know that Cher is part Armenian, but there you go. Cher happily posed with Kim and Kourtney Kardashian on the red carpet. Movies about the Armenian genocide: ON FLEEK. Speaking of on fleek, I don’t really have much to say about the fashion here. I don’t think that color complements Kim, but Kourtney’s suit is pretty great. Cher looks like Cher. Like the Ghost of Kim’s Future Faces, actually.

  1. Cherry says:

hang on, does Kim’s ass look deflated to anyone else? What’s going on there?

  2. Poop says:

I dunno what sort of surgery she’s done, but she looks OLD.

  3. tegteg says:

I know Kourtney is the forgettable Kardashian, but she looks really good here. She’s gone Kardashian-Lite on the tweaking, and it’s made all the difference.

    • Justwastingtime says:

Saw the older one last Sunday at a restaurant with kids and partner at an unfashionably early dinner hour. She was sitting directly across from me. Didn’t recognize till we got up to leave. She looked very very normal which is not to say unattractive. Just normal no excessive makeup and mom clothes.

    • erbs says:

I agree. Kourtney looks way way better than Kim. I don’t even recognize Kim anymore. She’s definitely deflated her behind.

      • Matomeda says:

Kim looks so painful! She looks a lot heavier here. For a while she looked smaller. And yes kourt all the way.

      • jwoolman says:

Kim used to look very good before the plastic surgery, injections, and fat suctioning and re-accommodation caught up with her. She would be really stunning today if she had followed the route taken by her older sister. She still can look good, but she lost a lot of natural beauty by messing with her body and that will be more of a problem as she continues to age. I hope her daughter follows Kourtney’s approach instead of Kim’s, preferably without the early surgeries Kourtney had.

    • Elisa the I. says:

yep, came her to say that Kourtney looks great! I also like the suit a lot, even if it’s not very well tailored.
Kim is closing the cycle and returning to her original face. Her smile does look painful.

    • jwoolman says:

And Kourtney is also the oldest. So the comparisons should serve as a cautionary tale.

  4. OhDear says:

She’s always been very vocal about the genocide, so why not?

    • Meredith says:

I have an embarrassing confession: I didn’t actually know about the Armenian genocide until Kim Kardashian brought it up. And I’m fairly well-educated; I just think that like most Americans I didn’t know that much about that part of the world.

      • Asiyah says:

Don’t be too embarrassed, Meredith. Better late than never. As long as you know now that’s what matters

      • M.A.F. says:

A lot of people don’t know because most history textbooks barely mention it if not at all. I teach it every year when I get to WWI and every year I get students who had no idea.

      • Nicole says:

Honestly, I think it’s because we don’t really teach much about WWI. It wasn’t until college that I started to really learn about it.

      • Bootsie says:

It was the 100th anniversary of the US entering WW1 the other day, and I have barely seen it covered on American new sites.

      • jwoolman says:

I hadn’t heard about the detention camps for Japanese-Americans until it was mentioned incidentally on some tv show. Pat Morita played the character who talked about it. Nobody in school or in my family had ever said a word about it, and I was born just a few years after WWII ended so it’s not that nobody could remember it.

I knew about the Armenian genocide only because I knew a guy of Armenian descent and he talked about it once.

We all have a lot of gaps in our knowledge of the world, and unless it shows up in our school history books – it’s often accidental that we find out about such things. I was especially shocked learning about the American detention camps. FDR gave the same excuses for them that Hitler had given for shipping German Jews off. People had to quickly sell what they had to people with no Japanese ancestry, generally at a big loss. Nobody knew when they would be released. Or if. The supposedly confidential census data of 1940 was used to quickly round up people. I have reminded census takers of that whenever they go into the standard privacy spiel, and it’s always news to them.

There has been a history of denial on the part of the Turks and, as a result, many countries don’t even officially acknowledge that it happened.

  5. Mia4s says:

Bale has actual talent and class so yeah, I doubt he cares if the paparazzi are busy salivating over that nonesense.

Weird Oscar Isaac wasn’t there but I think he is or was filming in New York and probably has to make an appearance at that Star Wars event tomorrow. Probably just a scheduling conflict.

  6. Josephine says:

No one looks good here except for Christian Bale’s wife. Christian needs a little cleaning up and poor Kim chooses one unflattering outfit after another. She needs a bra and her face looks oddly smushed up, like she’s had a huge crying jag or is hung-over with alcohol bloat.

But the real question is where the heck are the pictures of the handsome Oscar Isaac??

  7. Chaine says:

Everyone appears to be dressed appropriately for the premier of a movie about genocide except Kim. Why did she think that shiny-golden-sausage-with-nips was a good look for this event?

    • Mei says:

      THIS.

But while totally agreeing with you, I don’t think Kourtney was dressed appropriately either, would it kill her to put a top on under the suit jacket so it didn’t draw the eye to her cleavage?

    • jwoolman says:

Kim is dressed much better than usual, so I’ll take it as progress. That’s probably as close to appropriate as she is likely to get.

  8. trollontheloose says:

Kim K can barely smile. She definitely got into the territory of housewives that eat Botox for lunch. I still think she fried to death her hair hence the wigs. Her wigs replace jewelries. The dress is s very 90′s and awful. meh.. And you can tell she remove the fat from her butt. It’s deflategate! As for the movie, the trailer doesn’t make me want to see it. Bale in an Armenian movie? Hummmm

    • Zh says:

Her smile looks like it’s physically painful to do.

      • trollontheloose says:

it’s from the injections on each side of the nose to reduce the crease of smile. Not that she needed it but now that she started it she’s doomed to do it again. she aged at least 5 years. She is just blah and meh.. the spank under the dress might be painful too. this type of dress doesn’t forgive. I think she is wearing 2 of them.

  9. Shelley says:

Kim needs to stop whatever she put in her face. It truly looks distorted and definitely not like her. Boring outfit

  10. KLO says:

Good for her. It is nice of her to support her fellow Armenians in acknowledging their history. I am happy for her that she got to meet Cher, too. :)
    Kourtney looks perfect here.

  11. Babs says:

    I think Kim looks good.
But Christian Bale… he looks like Tom Cruise here, what happened?

  12. Zh says:

Angela Sarafyan (Clementine in Westworld) was at the premiere too; she’s gorgeous but is really hit and miss with her outfits sometimes, and yesterday was one of those times. She was wearing a Kardashian-lite dress, so maybe it was in honor of the guests. :)

  13. deevia says:

Kim lools about the same age as Cher from a glance. Kourtney looks like an actual star!

  14. Zuzus Girl says:

I’m convinced that Kim has no mirrors in her house or she can’t see them past her hand holding her iPhone taking selfies. She looks horrible. The trailer for the movie did not make me want to see it.

  15. Rocio says:

For once, I reallylike what Kim is wearing. She’s giving me Cleopatra vibes.

  16. Wellsie says:

Okay, so guys, is it just me or are the thunbnail pics at the bottom of articles always stretched vertically? How am I going to satisfy my curiosity re: Kim’s modified derrier (kill me) if I can’t adequately examine pics?

  17. Needlehole says:

The Ghost of Kim’s Future Faces – Bloody brilliant!

  18. adastraperaspera says:

Important work. Anything anyone can do right now to highlight the atrocities of this genocide and help prevent future ones is good with me. Watching this movie and talking about it will fly in the face of the cruel and unforgivable speech that Hitler gave to his troops in 1939 right before he invaded Poland:

“What the weak Western European civilization alleges about me, does not matter. I have given the order—and will have everyone shot who utters but one word of criticism—that the aim of this war does not consist in reaching certain geographical lines, but in the enemies’ physical elimination. Thus, for the time being only in the east, I put ready my Death’s Head units, with the order to kill without pity or mercy all men, women, and children of the Polish race or language. Only thus will we gain the living space that we need. Who still talks nowadays of the extermination of the Armenians?”

    • mar_time says:

Yes!! As an Armenian whose grandfather was 2 when it happened, lost his whole family except his 13 year old sister, had to seek refuge in SYRIA 💔… this movie is an important step towards recognition…

      • Asiyah says:

So many Armenians fleeing to Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, and Iran. My heart breaks for the ones who had to then flee one of these other countries when they were either going through civil war or conflicts. Love Armenians and how they keep surviving and overcoming any obstacles that come their way.

  19. Beth says:

Kim’s dress looks like it would be difficult to walk while wearing it. Not a pretty color on her. Kourtney looks great

  20. Lightpurple says:

Oh, Kim. Stop trying to be Cher. Cher does Cher just fine. And unlike you, Cher has some discernible talent other than self-promotion. You will never be Cher.

    • Babs says:

Kim doesn’t try to be Cher. She tries to be Liz Taylor. Nothing wrong with ambition :)

      • Lightpurple says:

Marriage-wise, she’s going for Liz but looks wise, she’s trying to copy Cher. Like Cher, Liz had some talent. Kim loses again.

  21. Ashley.Nate says:

I used to think Oscar Isaac was middle eastern/Arabic (his looks, and last name), but then found out he was Guatemalan/Latino.
I’m glad the Armenian genocide is being talked about.
Very strange/bizarre how one of the main characters and actor is absent from his movie premiere, but some parasite who goes by the name of ‘Kim’ somehow managed to show up and steal the spotlight. Wtf? Lol.
Maybe he heard she was coming and got the f out of dodge. Smart man lol

  22. M.A.F. says:

It is miscast considering NEITHER OF THEM (INCLUDE THE ACTRESS) ARE ARMENIAN AND/OR TURKISH (I’m assuming Bale and the actress are playing Turkish characters).
Why do these movies have to include a love story element? Just tell the story.

    • Mei says:

Totally with you on the why-is-there-always-a-love-story element. I’ve seen far too many films that ruin themselves with unnecessary romantic threads.

  23. Elisa the I. says:

Christian Bale looks totally stoned. His wife is absolutely stunning!

  24. Erica_V says:

Seriously who’s face is that?!?! Because it’s not hers.

  25. Anna says:

I’m Armenian, and came to America as an Armenian refugee in 1991 during the 2nd Armenian massacre. When I was a little girl, Cher was THE Armenian American to look up to. Seeing this goddess next to the embarrassing Armenians, is making me quite ill. Title should be Cher Attends premier with Garbage Humans.

  26. dancingonmyown says:

If you know about what Turkey did to Armenia, check out what they’re currently doing to Kurdistan. Same story.

  27. Jag says:

I love Cher – just want to say that first. But it’s funny to me seeing the picture of both Cher and Kim attempting to smile, due to how distorted both of their faces are from all of the alleged surgery and fillers that they have had. lol

  28. Missmarirose says:

Wait. What? When did Kardashian become more famous than Cher?

  29. Abby says:

I’ve not head of this movie before, but it’s exactly the kind of movie I most enjoy. My birthday is the next week after it opens, maybe I’ll get a babysitter and go see it!

Did not know Cher was Armenian. That’s cool! She’s way above the Kardashians. So much talent.

  30. A Fan says:

She’s finally crossed the line into Housewife cat-face. Up to this point, she still either looked good (different, but good) or had snippets of good. It’s all over now!

    [*Meow.*]

  31. Disco Dancer says:

If anal warts had a human face- it would be Kim’s new face here. She’s more repulsive than ever.

  32. Anare says:

Amazing how Kim, with all her dough, always looks so cheap. That dress is completely fug. Her bra-less look is gross. Her face looks puffy and plastic at the same time which is quite a feat. Kourtney would have looked fabulous if she put on some kind of bustier under that suit. Cleavage is fine. She just looks half dressed. Once again they fail because they are so “try hard” without an ounce of taste. Cher is Cher. I love her.

  33. artistsnow says:

Turns out Kimmy came for the carpet and left before the film started.
