Star: Emilia Clarke & Sophie Turner tried to ‘bag’ Tom Hiddleston at the Emmys

wenn29553086

Just hours after the Emmys wrapped, we learned that Tom Hiddleston got Priyanka Chopra’s digits at the Emmys Governors Ball. We also learned that Tom and Priyanka were probably canoodling or hugging or something intimate. Maybe Tom only had eyes for Priyanka that night. But that didn’t stop several high-profile ladies from putting a bounty on Hiddles that night. Allegedly, Emilia Clarke, Sophie Turner and Lindsey Vonn made a bet to see who could bag Tommy Hiddles.

Emilia Clarke, Sophie Turner and Lindsey Vonn had their eyes on the prize at the Emmys – but it’s wasn’t a trophy they were after, it was Tom Hiddleston! The women made a bet to see who could snag Hiddleston, even giving the contest a code name: Operation Bag Bond.

“The girls tried every trick in the book,” snitched Star’s Emmys insider. “They were leaning over him seductively, showing their cleavage, stroking his leg – you name it. Lindsey even tried to woo him with tales of naked skiing!”

But the spy reports that Hiddleston was “incredibly gentlemanly” to the gaggle of girls and wouldn’t commit more than five minutes of chit-chat to any one of them.

[From Star Magazine, print edition]

This just reminded me of something I wish I had known when I was younger: women make it too hard on themselves when they’re trying to “bag” a guy. Basically, if you see a guy you like, you should just go up to him and talk to him. If you see a guy you want to bang, go up to him and offer to bang him. It really is that simple. Most guys will be into it. You don’t have to make it this complicated, although I do think that simply being forward probably won’t get you any closer to Lord Dragonfly’s Paper Knickers. Some guys do take a little finesse. Tommy is one of those guys. You have to lead him to the water with a trail of swan pastry breadcrumbs, Shakespeare sonnets and fudge. And even then he wouldn’t put out until the fourth date.

Now, all that being said, if Tom and Priyanka don’t work out, I could TOTALLY see him with Emilia Clarke. Like, they would make so much sense together. Sophie is too young for him, and Lindsey is just… no, they wouldn’t make any sense. If this did happen, it seems like something silly with GoT women, like something they just did to amuse themselves. I could totally see Emilia and Sophie making a game of it.

i am trying really hard to get why he’s a thing

    • Bex says:

He’s pretty good at Shakespeare- I saw him on stage in Coriolanus and I enjoyed him in that. But I don’t really think he translates as well to screen. Definitely can’t see him as Bond if that’s what he wants.

      • lisa says:

i enjoyed the night manager. i dont have an issue with him as an actor. it’s more the fan girling. he looks like he needs a b12 shot to me.

      • Bex says:

Ha! I think he had a lot of fangirls largely because he projected this image of being sophisticated, educated, and slightly above the Hollywood rat-race, though this summer rather put paid to that :D

      • Secret squirrel says:

The guy is talented but easily distracted!

    • SM says:

@Lisa, you are not alone. I struggle to understand the appeal too. Not feeling any of it. I even tried to have another go at the Night Manager. Nothing

      • eggy weggs says:

@SM, @Lisa, I am with y’all. My stomach clenched unpleasantly when he took his pants off in “Crimson Peak.”

    • AlmostThere says:

Charm, personality, lean-athletic physique that can rock a suit. For looks Tom’s had a lot of incarnations, Loki, Prince Hal/Henry V, Hank Williams. His looks are kind of fine so they’re more varying over time or with styling. His eyes are lovely and expressive. It may not be just one obvious, overwhelming thing. It could be a combination of many things rolled into one total package.

      Speaking of Shakespeare:

      • popup says:

I like his Prince Hal. Never got into his bearded Henry V.

      • spidey says:

@ popup. I didn’t like the bearded Henry V look but I did like his different interpretation of the role. I thought it was brave of him and the director.
But he should have had a nasty scar on his face in all scenes after the Battle of Shrewsbury at the end of Henry IV Part I. Sorry, the history nerd in me coming out.

      • popup says:

@spidey I’m so superficial that I was only talking about his looks. I preferred his Henry V over Prince Hal if we’re talking about performance alone.

    • OhDear says:

He’s talented, intelligent, and by all accounts seems like a genuinely nice guy. And IMO, he’s nice looking, esp. compared to other “hot” male celebrities (see e.g. Damon, Gosling).

The worst thing you can say about him is that he’s thirsty, and that’s rather refreshing considering the recent and not-so-recent stories about some other celebrities out there (see e.g. Wahlberg, Depp, Pitt).

    • virginfangirl says:

When I first saw him I thought of him as average. But for me, it’s his personality that lead to my obsession, and now I think he’s gorgeous. Not the personality that gets played out through magazine photos and paparazzi pics, but in his interviews. He’s very smart, charming, willing to let loose by dancing or acting out a velociraptor. I’ve heard him speak of sobbing at a sad movie. He’s also spoke about pursuing your passions even if it’s not perceived as cool, because that what will truly make you happy. I see that as as an important message that I even have to revisit as an adult. So yeah, his personality made him better looking to me, and now there’s no turning back.

    • inkheart says:

no way he is corpsymouth. A corpse would be lucky to have this kind of beauty. :D

  2. browniecakes says:

Tom tweeted a song of the day – Bon Iver’s 00000 Million. Songs to bag Hiddles by.

  3. T.Fanty says:

I don’t buy it. If a semi-famous and hot woman wanted to shag Hiddles, there’s no way he wouldn’t have gone for it. He doesn’t have that much self-restraint.

    • ell says:

      exactly!

    • Bonzo says:

My thoughts exactly. He wouldn’t have said no to any of them.

    • detritus says:

Tommy left that with the strange feeling maybe he hadn’t properly rolled the lint off of his trousers, otherwise why were so many eligible young women patting him down?

      • antipodean says:

@detritus, my keyboard cannot take the dousing in spat coffee that your comment elicited from me. Too much dry insouciance for a Friday morning. I think you need to take the cake, or biscuit, for the best comment of the day! I have a suspicion that Emilia Clarke would be able to erase all thoughts of beach strolls and swan pastries from Mr Hiddles addled brain….and HOW! This pairing would truly be the gossip manna from heaven. Please let it be so.

    • Lilacflowers says:

Jet lag and short turnaround before returning to Oz?

      Or Star made it up?

    • MI6 says:

Nailed it, T Fanty. Pun intended. 😉
I believe this like I believe in “unsolicited photographs.”

    • inkheart says:

not everyman is a dickhead.why is it surprising he left emmy alone. just because a woman is hot, a man has to bang him?

  4. Jo says:

Is it me or is Emilia Clarke looking a little Miley Cyrus in that photo?

  5. Jenna says:

I’m so bored of being told that I should find this guy remotely appealing. It’s a level of “OMG women are dropping their panties for this man every second of every day” hyperbole I haven’t seen since, like, vintage Tom Cruise.

    • Squiggisbig says:

      *slow clap*

    • ninjagirl says:

good for you. But don’t think girls like tom cause they are being told to do so. As you can see here most of them are mature women who can make their own decision. If they like him they have their own reason to do so.

    • spidey says:

Nobody is telling you who should or should not find attractive. If you criticise his work you may have someone tell you “try watching him in this” which is a different thing.

    • AlmostThere says:

Well, the media circuit does this to ALL popular celebrities calling them handsome, hot, etc. That shouldn’t be a surprise. Tabloids and online gossip is usually responding to demand as well. Although they beat up as much as they praise TH imo. I can understand if you’re referring to all the young fangirls that go a bit overboard and can seem like peer pressure. But even discounting that, many women, young and mature, find him attractive. First impressions count a lot on how you perceive someone, and his looks have changed quite a bit these past couple years. IAH, for those really curious why some women truly go for him, you’d have to watch everything. Not just Thor, Avengers and his other films but also promo interviews, panels and film interviews and other candid stuff.

  6. freebunny says:

Lol at the PR pushing him to look like the ultimate seducer.
If he didn’t “date” Taylor Swift this summer we would not see all those articles about gorgeous women wanting him so bad.

    • ell says:

it really raised his profile, like big time.

      • Willow says:

In a bad way. But seriously, what woman who is successful in entertainment/fashion as in having a hit show or franchise or good movies in the works is going to be bothered with someone like Hiddleston after he made a laughingstock of himself? What is the upside for her to PR, along with his crazy stans who think he walks on water? It would just make her look just as thirsty as he is. This summer and these photo-shoots/interviews will be taught in marketing classes of how not to sell your client to the general public.

      • AlmostThere says:

        @Willow

If Hiddleswift is used to study in classes, they will probably be looking at the effects and speed of social media, cross sm contamination, and its ability to critique the validity of PR marketing.
As for TH’s career, the perception of peers and the general public, that will be studied in sociology courses about social-media / gossip culture and faulty perceptions of reality.

  7. ell says:

lol, this sounds totally made up

ETA: on a different note, he wouldn’t make much sense dating emilia, because she’s rather private, and he’s most definitely not.

  8. Secret squirrel says:

I think the type of girls who make bets about bagging guys and shamelessly flaunting their assets to tease a man into bed (then no doubt laughing about how easy it was afterwards) are not really the type of girls you want hanging around you anyway.

    • Bettyrose says:

Why not? I shy away from loud, aggressive behaviour in any context, but the bet itself seems like more of a joke.

      • Secret squirrel says:

Unless you are the unknowing butt of the joke and everyone is laughing at you behind your back. Not so fun then.

    • deevia says:

I am sure most men would be happy to do it. What a judgy comment. Sexual adventure holds no limit for any sexes.

    • Cranberry says:

I think it’s just as sexist to assume all men are going to follow their penis and have no standards on what they find attractive. For most women, drunk and desperate men are a turn off. It’s the same for men too. Assuming any of this is true, plenty of men wouldn’t take silly girls playing games as a serious come on.

Also Tom’s probably still shell shocked after spending the summer tied to the #1 immature ‘girl-woman’ on the planet. He’s probably ready to run if any young thang starts flirting with him. PTSS, Post Taylor Swift Syndrome. It’s going to take a while.

      • bonzo says:

Or he may have gotten a taste for tabloid fame and will repeat the performance with another fameho’ in the next year. If so, I won’t be surprised. TommyAnnE was loving the attention he got and will be missing it.

      • Uh-huh says:

        @bonzo

Possible, yes. They may try and learn from their mistakes with Hiddleswift and attempt to do it in a more believable manner. As Willow pointed out the difficulty would be finding someone who would agree to it but not be problematic in some way. I would imagine someone who might readily agree would probably be desperate or a media player or a famewhore themselves so it would end up making Hiddleston look like even more of a prat (if such a thing is possible after that tank top).

      • Cranberry says:

        @bonzo
No, I don’t think even TommyAnnE was enjoying the skewer tabloid fest this summer. TH makes the best out of all situations and knows how to enjoy himself in less than ideal situations. He probably thought TS was a nice enough person. After all she’s super famous, and her leagues of fans love her. Ever the optimist, Tom probably figured any awkwardness from barely knowing each other and having nothing in common could be over come with his upbeat and accommodating personality. I think he over estimated his good nature over coming a hasty and badly executed PR roll out and the unforeseen TS backlash.
It didn’t seem like he was particularly enjoying himself as much as he was putting up a good front. At first he was making the best of an awkward match up and following through, enjoying himself as he usually does. Later on it looked like quite a chore even with TS fans on the street asking about her, not him, and knowing he had to watch everything little he said.
Over all, despite any gains, I think he barely considers it was worth it. Imo, he primarily did it because he was strongly advised (pressured ?) to get more US exposure for upcoming televised Emmys and up coming bb SI, and this was a window of opportunity that was guaranteed to accomplish that.
But the tabloid fame was not favorable, and it’s still unknown if it will payoff where it counts. He’s had a rude awakening to the limitations of PR and how harsh sm and gossip trades are when you’re in their cross hairs. So no, I doubt even TommyAnne will ever deliberately put himself in that situation again.

  9. neomi says:

mother of dragon has good eyes. :D

  10. tasha says:

ok, I didn’t see that coming.

  11. Uh-huh says:

His publicist needs to give it a rest. Cease, desist, go away for a bit. I think he’s made enough of a stupid spectacle of himself this summer already.

    • spidey says:

His publicist possibly had nothing to do with this silly tale.

      • Uh-huh says:

        Maybe, maybe not.

‘Operation Bag Bond’ sounds like more very convenient name association for TH though. I mean is he really even in the running?

      • spidey says:

@ Uh-huh he said long ago that he wasn’t in the running, and the franchise still wants Craig.

      • Uh-huh says:

        @spidey

You believe he doesn’t want it then? I think he does and his PR people stoked the fires on the suggestion that he could be suitable for it off the back of The Night Manager.

He says one thing, something else happens behind the scenes – much like the Swift saga. But don’t mind me. I’m just a cynic ;)

      • spidey says:

        @ Uh-huh

I’m not above cynicism but not everything you read in the press is generated by publicists. I just have half an idea that Tom knows he isn’t going to be Bond and has done for some time. TNM was filmed long before Craig’s unfortunate comments and if it hadn’t come out when it did I doubt Tom’s name would have been mentioned in connection, and the timing wasn’t his fault. But the problem is that if an actor is asked about wanting to be Bond what is he supposed to say? If they say no they are classed as arrogant “you haven’t been offered it” sort of thing, if they say yes they are classed as thirsty.

Tom might have been pitching for it 6 months ago, but not any more. But that’s just my opinion.

      • Leah says:

As if he wouldn’t want bond if it was offered to him. Yeah right.

      • Spidey says:

Leah, I never said he didn’t want it, I said I thought he knew he wasn’t getting it.

      • Uh-huh says:

        @spidey

Hey after Hiddleswift I probably see media manipulation everywhere. This one might be just ‘shit that tabloids make up’, yeah. Other stuff hasn’t necessarily been though.

God, I wouldn’t want to work in PR.

      • RUNSWITHSCISSORS says:

I suspect it’s just clickbait. But amusing clickbait.
I know he said he was out of the running for Bond. But privately, he’s probably still hoping.
I still think any chance he might have had went down the drain after the 💖 t-shirt of doom.

      • inkheart says:

@spidey as H laurie said it himself if tom is wearing socks people would assume he is doing it for bond.

    • Lilacflowers says:

How would his publicist know what any of these women are thinking? Tabloids make stuff up for click bait and the subjects ignore it unless truly scandalous because, otherwise, they would be spending all their time issuing denials, which actually encourages the tabloids.

      • Uh-huh says:

Publicists can make stuff up too. Stuff that is advantageous in some way for their client(s). The will is clearly there to get TH’s name out in the media by whatever means necessary. IMO, of course.

      • inkheart says:

don’t you know Lilac his pr team are bunch of mindreaders ?

  12. Jen says:

Isn’t Lindsey Vonn dating JJ Watt? That makes this whole story seem, surprise, 100% made up.

    • @jen it’s not only her name but also two other actresses name are being brought up too. if this wasn’t true shouldn’t their pr team say something about it? cause people are gonna read those stories. and isn’t one night stand a common thing in HW? these people are not reknowned for their loyalty rather the opposite.

  13. tom and clarke would make a cute couple. what would be the couples name? tomelia?

  14. Green Is Good says:

Emilia Clarke portrays the Mother of Dragons, and Tom is the Dragonfly King! Illuminati conspiracy ! LOL!

  15. The Spiral says:

I find him very talented but unattractive. And I don’t believe for a second he wouldn’t have gone for one or all three of these women if they made themselves available. If this weird-sounding encounter even happened, he probably just realized it was an inside joke between them and played along for laughs. Dudes, even famous dudes, are not that complicated.

  16. spidey says:

I think the writer from the Star ought to taken up writing fiction. Oh, they already did.

Photos or it didn’t happen, as they say.

  17. ninjagirl says:

well I think somehow tom realised it was an inside joke and that’s why he avoided them.

  18. spidey says:

Just as a vague matter of interest – I wonder what the reaction would have been if the story had been about an actress and three actors?

    • I Choose Me says:

TBH I’d find it a lot more skeevy. Not that this excuses these three women if it happened, which I seriously doubt. I’m not sure I’m explaining my feelings very well but sex always seem more charged with potential danger when it involves men pursuing a woman rather than the other way around.

      • spidey says:

It would be considered creepy if the roles were reversed. They would be accused of touching her up wouldn’t they?

  19. Caitiecait says:

Isn’t Sophie Turner dating someone? And why would Emilia Clarke and Sophie Turner be hanging out with Lindsay Vonn? How would they even know each other?

  20. I Choose Me says:

Um yeah, I doubt any of that really happened. I wonder how the writers of Star come up with these sh-te? They need more subtlety less hyperbole. Lindsay even tried to woo him with tales of naked skiing. Sure Jan.

  21. Leah says:

His overzealous publicist needs to calm. This is not believable!

    • spidey says:

So how come you think it is his publicist and not the press making things up?

      • Uh-huh says:

@spidey Hiddles is thirsty? Very thirsty. You’re probably right though. This one could be just clickbait.

@Leah TBH, that’s my knee-jerk reaction now regardless. There’s no work news about TH anymore (theatre project?), just gossip column crap. To be expected I guess after Hiddleswift, but he volunteered for it – he wanted the media attention and now he’s got it and pegged himself as low-rent tabloid fodder in the process.

      • inkheart says:

@uh-huh better thirsty than wife abuser or rapist.
Go tom be thirsty, be SUPER THIRSTY.

      • Uh-huh says:

        @inkheart

Of course! Nothing wrong with being ambitious and dedicated in the pursuit of his goals. I’d rather he dialled the desperation down a notch though. He *was* a fairly class act before all the nonsense of this summer and now look at him!

I’m still a fan (sort of). I guess it depends on the work he’s got coming up. I’ll check out Thor 3, but I don’t care about the Kong flick. I’m waiting to hear about something else in the pipeline.

    • cindy says:

Tom’s agent Brandon Liebman from WME is also Emilia Clarke ‘s agent.
Also he was with Tom at Emmy and after party too.
      http://variety.com/2011/scene/people-news/fast-rising-tenpercenters-1118043820/#Liebman

And joevincentjanolo( on instagram) said Tom spent the night
with Gwendoline Christie at HBO after party. So Star is not a reliable source for sure.

      • spidey says:

        @ cindy

“Tom spent the night with Gwendoline Christie ”

Well, you’ve started something now!

      • popup says:

Meaning, he spent time with her at the party, not “spent the night” as in stayed overnight with her, right? Because I initially read it as the latter and my brain exploded a little bit.

  22. Guesto says:

Whether this is true or not, it just seems to be another attempt to try and make Tom happen by people who’re determined to milk his elevated profile to the bitter end, regardless of how ridiculous and eye-rolling they make him look in the process.

Presenting him as this hot-to-trot women-magnet is just not the way forward. Ditto ‘edgy’ magazine shoots which try to remake him as something he’s not and will never be.

    • Uh-huh says:

^^This. But what do I know. I think he must want some of this (at least partially) himself, otherwise why Hiddleswift? Unless he’s easily persuaded that certain things will be a good idea in order to progress his career. That’s a fair possibility I suppose.

      • Guesto says:

Oh absolutely. I wasn’t suggesting for a second that this is being done without his knowledge/approval. If he were in his early 20s looking to make a name for himself, I’d excuse it , but this is a 35yr old – an educated and allegedly intelligent one – who has no excuse for not knowing the consequences of his (high density summer of love) actions. He’s totally on board here.

      • Uh-huh says:

        @Guesto

Yeah, he agreed to it and he’s a mature intelligent man (or usually gives the appearance of one anyway, lol), so he should have foreseen the consequences. And yet he was rubbish at selling it, looked uncomfortable and weirded-out at times and couldn’t seem to lie about it with any confidence or finesse when asked. Very odd – almost like he was a gullible sap who’d agreed to it on the fly and then realised it was an idiotic idea later on…

    • seesittellsit says:

@Guesto: and ten more of ^^^^This. You should see DL’s comments on his latest two photo shoots.

    • popup says:

So he should stay in his lane, eh?

My favorite performances of his are Loki, vampire lover Adam and Henry V. Fairly diverse but he’s probably aiming to do more, take more risks. Time will tell about whether he can pull off more versatile characters and personas. Funnily, the leather shoot was probably closest to his Loki character but it didn’t read as credible, at least not to the Celebitchy and DL audience among others, but wonder how it played to the general public or to the decision makers in Hollywood.

      • Uh-huh says:

Ambition to diversify work-wise is fine in my book. Adopting lame and immature-looking Z-lister type tactics to try and generate buzz is not.

He’s a good stage actor, he was excellent in The Hollow Crown and he’s enormous fun as Loki. I’m sure he could do more (and well) but I’m just not digging the Village People/Matrix Reloaded photoshoot or the recent tabloid shenanigans.

      • rose says:

@popup well general public are taking it quite well much better than gucci’s as far as I have seen.

  23. seesittellsit says:

Did they really? Guess they didn’t get the memo from Hiddleswift that should have told them, er, something. A man who keeps ensuring that the world sees him getting a woman’s digits instead of doing it privately the way a man who is really interested in a woman would, instead of a man who is really interested in LOOKING like a man who is interested in a woman . . . should know better by now.

    • Uh-huh says:

      Hahahaha. Yeah, there’s that.

I think it’s just a feeble attempt to keep his name in circulation. There’s not much else happening so made-up tittle-tattle about his alleged romantic exploits is all they can come up with.
Not so long ago there was a clumsy attempt to suggest a connection with a historian named Suzannah Lipscomb just because they happened to be photographed coming out the door of a London club at roughly the same time. I don’t think she even knew him. It’s pretty weak fare.

      • popup says:

@Uh-huh Hiddleswift was fully Tom’s responsibility and he should take ownership for that PR mess, but do you actually believe that Suzannah Lipscomb connection was generated by Tom’s team? Some things are actually out of their control as rags like the Daily Fail will simply make things up based on a little photo assumption and wishful thinking.

      • Uh-huh says:

        @popup

I don’t actually know is the honest answer. :)

      • Spidey says:

Can’t see how Tom accidentally bumping into a historian as he leaves the restaurant can be down to his team. But it was the DF.

    • Spidey says:

And did we get the photos of Tom taking the digits? Sorry I’m being cynical the other way.

      • third ginger says:

No, you are being logical. Logic does not apply if we’re joking here [the best part of CB], but when there are attempts to analyze what are being labeled as PR strategies, logic is in order.

      • Spidey says:

So we are being sensible again? I think I know what we need -🍹 and/or🍸and/or 🍷.

        lilacflowers, where are you?

      • TotallyBiased says:

The only thing we have on video is from that backstage camera at the Emmys, where Pryanka is working it hard (flirty moves, arm touching, hip swinging), the woman sitting in a chair behind her is giving serious side-eyeing, and Tom is making polite-face while keeping his hands securely in his pockets.
Make of that what you will.

      • rose says:

@totallybiased well tom is acting like a normal genltleman and other, I don’t know, weird?

  24. rose says:

am I only one find it creepy? I mean 3 women persuing a man. Imagine the other way around. Those 3 men would face much criticizing.

    • spidey says:

It would be classed as groping wouldn’t it?

      • virginfangirl says:

I was listening to an interview with Luke Bryan and he said woman often grab his bum when taking a pic with him. Doubt that women would tolerate that.

      • Spidey says:

In the olden days, when Mel Gibson was young, beautiful and sane, he said women had grabbed his family jewels on more than one occasion. It just isn’t acceptable. It’s assault whichever way round it happens.

        agree

      • inkheart says:

@spidey @rose exactly. that is creepy. Women should not get away with it just becase it seems so called harmless. Not everyman is a manw*0re.

I think the ladies saw this and couldn’t resist https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cU6UBAPGM9s
If this would be the only one outcome from this summer, it was definately worth it.
    I’m done… 😂😂😂

    • Secret squirrel says:

      That is hilarious!

      Oh bum!!

    • smd says:

Sue that is fabulous, thank you! The only thing that trailor needed was Tom reclining on a chaise lounge stroking one of the Afghans from the Gucci photoshoot. I’m partial to either Esmerelda or Calliope who understood it was a summer of madness. On a side note, Spidey can you send Colin over with a pitcher of beverages after he is done at Lilacflowers and then your place? Hubby has strep throat and is miserable, firmly squatting in the big Lazyboy recliner with a blanket, Gatorade and the TV remote. He is not a good patient…I’ve been periodically dropping off meds and meals but he’s soooooo grumpy!

    • tasha says:

      Oh my hahahahaha…

  26. inkheart says:

Hmm I don’t know why but these girls giving me the wrong vibe. Stay away from them tom.

  27. Wendy says:

Tom adn Emilia would make a lovely couple. I don´t believe the story. But it is funny.

And here I am having no idea who those women are. :/ o.O
