Amal Alamuddin & George Clooney’s wedding photos cover People, Hello Mags

Lainey at LaineyGossip was right! George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin did not give/sell their first wedding photos to Vogue. Sources told Lainey that George and Amal negotiated some kind of Brangelina-like deal with People Magazine and Hello to publish the official photos. And here we are! People and Hello released their covers early this morning – People chose the photo of George and Amal looking at each other and Hello chose the photo of them looking at the camera for their cover. Brangelina got something like $3-5 million for their wedding photos. I wonder how much George and Amal got? FOR CHARITY! I will donate $5 to their charity if they name it The Alamooney Foundation. Here’s some of People’s write-up:

After George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin exchanged traditional vows, platinum bands and, yes, a lengthy kiss at their 30-minute wedding ceremony on Sept. 27 in Venice, Italy, the newlyweds turned to their family and friends. And the place went wild. Cheers and applause filled the gilded hall at Italy’s historic Aman Canal Grande Venice as around 100 guests, many with tears in their eyes, celebrated the much-anticipated union of the Oscar winner and his barrister bride. The intimate wedding – including 25 exclusive photos of the emotional ceremony, star-studded parties and all the sweet candid moments – is featured in this week’s issue of PEOPLE, in conjunction with Hello! magazine internationally.

Marriage, Clooney, 53, tells PEOPLE, “feels pretty damn great.”

“George and Amal radiated love all night,” Alamuddin’s mother Baria tells PEOPLE. “The wedding was so unbelievably special, it was legendary. These three days – the friends, the families, the atmosphere, everything – will stay with me all the rest of my life.”

One of four loved ones to deliver heartfelt speeches during the short ceremony, Baria, an editor at the Arabic newspaper Al-Hayat, addressed Clooney at one point. “I said, ‘George, we love you truly, deeply and sincerely. We enjoy your charm, your wit, intelligent conversation and generosity. You are simply perfect.’ ”

His tux wasn’t so bad either. Created by Giorgio Armani as part of his Made to Measure collection, the black tuxedo in ultra-fine wool/cashmere was paired with a white shirt, black bow tie and oxfords in smooth, brushed black leather. (To finish off his look, Clooney wore customized cufflinks, a gift from his bride, with “George” inscribed in Arabic.)

“It is a privilege and a pleasure for me to dress him for this occasion, in which he stars in the most important role: that of the groom,” Armani tells PEOPLE.

“[Giorgio is] the class act of all class acts,” the actor says. “He’s been a good friend for many years and the night wouldn’t be complete without him.”

Of course nothing could upstage the bride, stunning in a custom Oscar de la Renta French lace wedding gown, hand-embroidered with pearls and diamanté accents, featuring an off-the-shoulder neckline and a full circular train.

“He’s such an elegant designer and such an elegant man,” Alamuddin, 36, tells PEOPLE.

With three days of parties followed by a civil ceremony, the festivities took center stage in Venice, which the actor calls “the most romantic city in the world” and a natural choice for their wedding locale. “We met in Italy,” says Clooney, who has long owned an estate on Lake Como. “We have a home there. We knew that was where we wanted to get married.”

While the guest list included famous pals like Matt Damon and Bono, the couple kept the celebration intimate and sentimental. They tapped Nora Sagal, the daughter of friends, to sing the Irving Berlin standard Always at the ceremony – which happened to be the song Clooney’s parents, Nick and Nina, danced to at their wedding – and Cole Porter’s “Why Shouldn’t I?” for their first dance at the reception.

As Nick Clooney said in his speech during the ceremony, “George and Amal present us with … belief that in this place and at this moment, love is alive and well.”

The bride’s close friend Jae Kim couldn’t agree more. “I had never seen her smile like that,” Kim said sweetly during the ceremony of witnessing her Alamuddin find the love of her life. “She has had that smile now for almost a year straight!”

Besides the afterglow of an unforgettable weekend, did the guests take anything home? “Other than a hangover? Yes,” cracks Clooney, whose favors included iPods loaded with a playlist chosen by the couple. And what’s next for the newlyweds after a brief honeymoon? Quite simply, Clooney tells PEOPLE, “We’re looking forward to everything.”

[From People]

Yes, it’s all pretty over-the-top. Thoughts on Amal’s dress? I don’t hate it. It’s a classic, lovely, traditional wedding gown and it looks very pretty on her. I’m glad she wore her amazing hair down.

Other random details, from other sources… Page Six says the wedding probably cost about $13 million, which is pretty interesting considering Amal’s parents supposedly paid. I didn’t know Amal came from that kind of wealth. I mean, I figured her family was probably upper-middle-class, more like an academic family rather than a wealthy family. Oh, and sources claim that George and Amal went from Venice to Marrakech for their honeymoon. That’s really cool! I’ve always wanted to go to Marrakech.

hello

George Clooney got married? Wish somebody said something.

  2. Victoria1 says:

Does this mean the spectacle ends or now or we will continue be inundated with this garbage??? Oh George, what happened to you? Did Stacey and Elizabetta make you a groomzilla?

    • Abbott says:

In the words of Christmas carol icon Karen Carpenter, “We’ve only just beguuuuun!”

    • mimif says:

Bump watch is next, the inundation will continue. And 13 million dollars?
      *bites tongue hard*

      • Charlotte says:

As long as she gives birth to a pot belly pig for George to drive around and beg the pappz to take pictures of.

Memorieeeeeeees light the corners of my mind….

      • PunkyMomma says:

        @Charlotte – ouch.

      • Charlotte says:

NOt calling Amal a pig – as clarified in prior post, I just really miss the George that was so open about his FameHo-ing. And that was a dern cute pig.

      • PunkyMomma says:

@Charlotte – agreed George was so Suzanne Sugarbaker with his little pig.

      • Mitch Buchanan Rocks! says:

@Charlotte – Max made George seem sweet – and it was the longest relationship he’s had in the public eye. I’ll bet Amal doesn’t eat pork.

    • QQ says:

No, This just starts the season of Wombwatch

    • LadyMTL says:

What makes me laugh is the whole “being married feels pretty great” thing. I mean, did anyone think he’d stop and go ‘ehhhh, it’s okay I guess but I’d rather be single again.’ He’s not only a groomzilla, he’s a vapid one.

    • anonymous says:

This was not a wedding it was a movie, scripted, produced, and directed and paid for by George Clooney. even and up to the brides clothing which was coordianted by the editor of Vougue. Amal’s leg showing and hand waving scene, was she imitating jackie Kennedy? Boats cruising in the canal. It was worse than Kim Kadashian and Kanye because at the least they have a child and it was somewhat about family, but with George Clooney I don’t even think it’s about love. Who would have taught George Clooney is such a famewhore! So what are we supposed to do now worship at your feet now King George?

      • Someonestolemyname says:

        +1

      • Ally8 says:

This circus wedding is either a major late-mid-to-end-of-life crisis, or part of Julian Assange’s long-term Bond villain plan to get Manchurian candidate George Clooney into the White House.

        Dun-dun. Cue creepy music.

      • DrM says:

Yup…when I saw some of the pics I thought…”Lord it looks like they think they are the new Royal Family….” seriously over the top stuff….

    • Isabelle says:

He’s going to run for political office, so its only the beginning. Next, kids!!!

      • Cindy says:

Clooney isn’t even college educated. He dropped out. Look it up. He just pretends to be smart….or has convinced himself like most celebs that fame= brains.

      • Someonestolemyname says:

Exactly. Clooney is not even a college graduate, has no degrees., He also has married a woman who represents enemies of the US.
I don’t even get where people see him as a viable candidate and IMO, Amal is a terrible choice for a political candidate wife in the US. She represents people who blew up planes and who have committed terrorists attacks, The GOP would have a field day digging up her past and using it against him and no way the Democratic Party would want all the baggage that comes with him.
He’d be fighting a onslaught of negative press everyday put out by the GOP ( ……he could barely handle a joke about him made Tina Fey)… and Amal would be ripped to shreds by the time the opposition was finished digging into her past client list and I don’t really think George wants anyone looking behind the curtain of his personal life. He would not be able to stop the GOP from doing that ,if he ran, everything would be fair game and George has spent a lot of time in Vegas and Other places partying hard over the years, there’s a lot of stories floating out there, which could come to light if he ever ran for a office and I don’t believe he wants that.
        I just can’t see it.

    • Janet Planet says:

      Needs more spraytan.

  3. GlimmerBunny says:

I LOVE the dress and that she wore her hair down! She looks stunning.

  4. Renee says:

Amal looks pretty on the cover of Hello.

  5. Dany says:

    People-cover is super beautiful

    • Belle says:

I think that one is gorgeous as well… they both look weird to me on the Hello cover… photo shop, I guess.

      • Sassy says:

I was surprised that she is a bit taller than the groom. And she has hands as big as his. If she ever gains weight, she will overtake him. Meow!

  6. Honeybea says:

The fact that the photos appeared in People Mag just sums up the whole vibe of this fiasco for me.

    • Mia V. says:

It sounds so fake, it’s just a sketch to award season. The dude who only dated dumb eye-candy settles for the inteligent and pretty? What a role.

    • Naye in VA says:

Thank you. This whole thing is just feels odd somehow. And this pics look even more odd. They just dont look…comfortable? Idk. I get a really weird vibe from the both of them on this. They look like extras at their own wedding. The guests look like theyre enjoying themselves more

      • Beatrice says:

Is it just me that finds it odd that Amal has no “past”? She’s 36 and I don’t recall any info coming out about who she’s dated and no tell-all lovers surfacing. It can’t be for lack of trying by the tabs. Sort of like the clean slate of Princess Diana, but she was only 19 when she was engaged.

      • Steph says:

Beatrice,I agree. It seems like there is a news blackout regarding her history and background. We know she is a “human rights” lawyer who represents questionable characters like the Wikileaks dude and that is about it..and her mother was a journalist. How did her daddy and mommy make their money? Look at how the Middleton family were dragged through the press. Amal seems to get a free pass.

Back to the topic of her dress, she looked beautiful as always. I like her hair down because it is so gorgeous,I do wish her hair and veil were styled more…if that makes sense.

      • Cheryl says:

I also find it odd that this woman has no past. Just what the press kit says about her. Nothing from old room mates, old lovers, old fellow students. She is like some kind of paper-doll cut out in her lack of dimensions.

      • Nina says:

Not every woman has an extensive dating history, I don’t. And even if she did, it doesn’t necessarily mean that her past boyfriends would or should come out of the woodwork to trash her. This fascination with her “past” is really just a bizarre obsession to know whether or not she was sexually active prior to GC. Every woman, regardless of age, will determine what is appropriate for her. Furthermore, she was hitherto a private citizen, there’s no reason for anyone to know who she has or hasn’t dated.

      • noway says:

The comments about Amal don’t have to be bad from her exes or friends. I just find it weird no one is talking, just about her professional life. Just a bit odd.

      • hmmm says:

Well, her life only began when she met George.

    • lucy2 says:

Yup. A few years ago I never would have imagined him being like that, so public about it and selling the photos, ugh.
Hopefully they’re really happy together though, and her dress is very pretty.

      • Mia V. says:

He’s selling this new image, out with the Clooney who gets the pretty chicks, in with family Clooney. It’s PR. His manager should be Mama Kris.

  7. PunkyMomma says:

    What’s an “amazing hair gown”?

  8. pru says:

I think the Hello cover photo is awful – fake smiles, unnatural pose. The paparazzi photos were better.

    • lisa says:

seriously, that’s really unflattering esp when you consider it was airbrushed

somewhere mr bean cant believe all the free press

    • chaine says:

George looks oddly photoshopped on Hello. Something about the shape of his face. I think they changed his jawline or cheeks or something in a failed effort to make him look younger?

      • Someonestolemyname says:

He is looking so dry, skin, hair. Etc.

      • Rae says:

They both look oddly photoshopped in both pics. And they sporting some horrible (photoshop?) tans that make them blend into the wall behind them. All in all, I think they’re horrible photos.

    • Sophita says:

In ten years or less, this will be the wedding picture of one the Candidates for Presidency.
So fakey HappyHappy we are awesome.

      • Cindy says:

I think it would be a sad day for this country if a man who couldn’t even finish college becomes a President.

    • Belle says:

Yep, agree about the Hello cover… posted up thread before I read your post. I think they both look photo shopped and odd. Really surprised that was used as a cover photo as I’m sure there were plenty to choose from.

I do think the People cover is lovely though!

      • Sassy says:

Ronald Regan (sp?), Arnold Schwartzenegger – it can happen, people!

      • Someonestolemyname says:

Dream on, not with Amal as his wife. Too much baggage.
George is Not married to a Kennedy, which helped Arnold greatly despite being a Republican.
Ronald Reagan was college educated, he had a degree. George does not even have a college education.

  9. Uzi says:

Yuk! I’m already sick of this woman…makes me realize how much I liked Stacy Keibler.

    • Erinn says:

I liked Stacy too, oddly enough. I had hopes for Amal because she seems independent and worldly and everything, but she seems otherwise cut from the same contract girlfriend cloth.

  10. Aussie girl says:

Wowza!! 13 mill is a lot to pay for a wedding. George would have had to chip in..? Are her family that wealthy..? And if they did pay than this marriage better last. And yes she looks beautiful but I’m not wowed by it. Don’t get me wrong she looks amazing but I wanted to be wowed & I blame it on them with all this lead up & coverage.

    • Karen says:

Gossip Cop – George’s go to site to correct all things “inaccurate” – said that HE was paying for the wedding.

Hope the money these mags donated is a tax deductible. That will help off-set the cost of future alimony payments.
      ;)

    • Belle says:

I read somewhere that he paid for most of it, though her family ‘insisted’ on paying for one of the dinners… or something?

  11. Chrissy says:

The gown is very pretty but can you get a close up of that cake??? What in the world?

  12. t.fanty says:

Damn. They didn’t waste any time.

Tom Cruise jumping off Oprah’s couch is starting to look *so* amateur.

  13. MrsBPitt says:

I think her dress is lovely! I love the classic wedding dress! I love the top picture of them staring at each other! Best wishes to them both….

  14. delorb says:

I just can’t get in the mood. A fifty something dude getting married for the second time? Meh. I guess if its her first wedding, then he’s excused for going overboard, but its still a bit boring to me. They both look great though.

  15. lisa2 says:

I like her gown.. I hate that People put the celebrity guest on cover. Not sure why. I was trying to think how she would wear her hair..and could only come up with wearing it down. So I was right. I think she has a lot of hair and trying to put that in bun or updo would be hard.

anyway congrats.. I don’t think I will be buying the mag.. but will look at pics online at at the store. People mag only gets my money on rare occasions.. and I have already bought for the year.

    • pwal says:

Yeah… not crazy about the celeb guests pics and the 25 pictures pronouncement. I understand that People is in the business of selling magazines, but that rubbed me the wrong way.

    • siri says:

She wouldn’t look pretty with her hair up, or back. Her hair down is the most attractive for her.

      • Sophita says:

So right, she just doesn’t look pretty any other way.
But she is FINALLY A WOMEN ON HIS LEVEL unlike all the other ones.

        Still liked Stacey better.

  16. Bea says:

Let’s all now wait for George’s first missive to the media to give them their privacy because they are newlyweds. He craves being out of the limelight, y’all.

    You know it’s coming.

Right before they do a PPV to announce they are adopting/pregnant.

    • Someonestolemyname says:

Oh he’ll be on the Newlywed tour going into the Golden Globes, when he receives his prestigious award and he can thank his new wife from the audience for being on his level and loving him. Maybe we’ll even get a misty eyed George during his speech.

  17. LadyJane says:

The dress is fine. I am not wowed, but whatever – they didn’t approve my wedding dress either. :)

  18. Lindy79 says:

This marriage wont end until he’s well established in congress or whatever his next plan is.
The media circus around this is just so un-Clooney-like

    • Someonestolemyname says:

This woman with her Gaddafi’s client list does not help George politically in the US. (she represents people who BLEW Up airplanes.) The opposition will have a field day.
If he tosses his direction into the political arena, just watch what comes out. No way he survives past level one to even get his name on a ballot. IMO

      • Uzi says:

If George wanted to run for political office in the US he would’ve married into the Kennedy family. A wealthy Arab wife is a liability, not an asset, especially considering everything currently happening in the Middle East. IMO he’s angling for some sort of appointed position on the international stage, an ambassadorship or something UN-related.

      • epiphany says:

Yes, but like so many celebrity limousine liberals, George believes the vast majority of Americans see things as he does. He would have to depend on his fame to carry him, or do a Bill Clinton circa 1992 and be willing to take a centrist stance.

      • Kim1 says:

ITA marrying Amal does not help him regarding a political career in America. Her clients are polarizing. Also her ethnicity and religion may be an issue.I will eat my words if George runs for office in US.
I wonder where they will live in terms of their primary residence?

      • Someonestolemyname says:

Uzi, THANK You, a voice of reason.

      • Malificent says:

I’m actually convinced that they are marrying purely for love (or at least some other conveniently apolitical reason) simply because Amal is such a terrible choice of wife from a purely political perspective. I agree with Uzi that if he does have political aspirations, it will be more toward an ambassadorship or other appointed office.

      • noway says:

Okay I agree with everyone on a national stage, but I could see California being crazy enough to like him and her. Governor of California is about to be coming up. I wouldn’t be entirely surprised. Sorry if you are a Californian, just an opinion.

      • hmmm says:

I can see him targeting governorship in California.

      • Someonestolemyname says:

        …can’t see it.

      • Anotherdirtymartini says:

Crazy Californian here! Nah, I wouldn’t vote for Georgie Porgie. Too emotionally immature – he gets his panties in a bunch easily & gets snippy. And I didn’t even mention his lack of experience…okay, now I have!

      • TotallyBiased says:

        noway,
I am a Californian. And you’re right. I can totally see it.

      • Tiffany :) says:

People talk about “crazy California” like its a liberal haven, but forget that we have a VERY strong conservative stronghold in Orange County and in the great expanses of farmland and rural areas.

Over the past 40 years, we have had GOP governors for more years than democrats. (GOP = 32 years of Governorship; Dems = 15 years of Governorship since 1975).

      • noway says:

Tiffany do you work in PR or Politics because that is some spin. Since 1975 CA had had 15 years Dem./24 Rep. Governors and there were 3 Dem Govs. and 3 Rep. Govs. You added Reagan who was done in 1975, but served 8 years and before him was a Dem who served 8 years. So I am going with it being pretty even.

As a sometimes Liberal thinker, I take a tiny bit of offense that my Crazy California comment meant Liberal, I was actually going more with the celebrity actor occupation. If you do add Reagan, you have two movie actors serving 16 years as Governor of California since 1967. I think California likes their Hollywood Actors in Politics. Wouldn’t be totally shocked. Granted both were Republican, but not sure if that would matter.

      • DocP says:

I can’t see America having a Muslim as a first lady. If he was looking for a political career, he just shot himself in the foot. With everything that has happened with so many fanatical Muslim groups this country would freak out if they had a Muslim in any executive part of our government. Look at how many people are still trying to say that Obama is Muslim. George isn’t that loved as a celebrity or a public figure. He’s delusioned if he confuses celebrity with mainstream popularity. His fan base is mostly women, and not enough to win him a nomination let alone an election.
I do love the dress and I think she looks very pretty in these pictures, George however is looking older and older by the minute.

      • Someonestolemyname says:

        I’m a Californian and I CAN’T see it.
The opposition(GOP) would make Roadkill out of her terrorist client connections and George Clooney’s partying and exploits in Vegas and elsewhere ,would be daily news fodder. They’d make him look like a joke by the time it was finished.
Just judging by the negative comments in varying world newspapers commentary sections from the public, George has a bit of a image problem.

  19. Kate2 says:

The dress is pretty, nothing spectacular but very pretty. But rather uninteresting. They both look happy and content so good for them.

    That’s all I got.

  20. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I love her dress, and they both look beautiful and happy.

The quotes from people made me roll my eyes a little because the Love Story is being hawked so hard. I mean, what bride’s mother doesn’t think the ceremony was flawless and magical and the room was filled with love? It SHOULD be, and it IS, even at peasant weddings. Idk, everything was just so suck up. Like they invented love. I wish them well, but they aren’t the only people in history to get married. I’m sort of glad it’s over, though the comments have been great.

    • PunkyMomma says:

      @GoodNames – it ain’t over yet . . .

      • Aussie girl says:

GNAT ITs true, they didn’t event love and yes every brides mother would say those things. Especially at a 13 mil wedding, I bet these was a loooooot of love and I would be feeling it too.

    • Ag says:

they do look lovely and happy, and i wish them well. (i can’t even comment re the 13 mil, makes me sick to my stomach to think about it.)

and yes, even our peasant wedding that happened during a hurricane was perfect. :)

  21. GiGi says:

I’ve been largely absent because I’m doing some pro bono election campaign work which basically requires me to work from 5-9 am every morning :| How I’ve missed you Celebitches! Anyhoo… because I’ve only had one eye on all this wedding stuff, I can honestly say that I’m enjoying everything about it, lol! I love her dress, I love the entire display of it all. It’s just so extra!

I’ll be back to snarking regularly with you lovelies after Nov. 4th… until then, it’s kind of fun just getting the surface amount of gossip ;)

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Miss your little Gigi face! 5-9 as in AM? Impressive!

      • GiGi says:

Don’t be too impressed, lol! I’m running the social media aspect of a school bond campaign and I have to do the work (schedule posts, create infographics, respond to emails, etc.) all before I take the kids to school and start my actual (you know, paying) job. It’s exciting and fun, but it might be killing me a little bit, too. I’m going to bed at 8:30 every night, lol!

      • Aussie girl says:

You are super woman Gigi. We look forward to having you back on board here after oct xo

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I am VERY impressed! Good luck!

      • Esmom says:

GiGi, Awesome, I’m on my town’s library board and we could really use you for the election, too! City council has forced us to go to referendum for funding and it’s been an uphill battle every step of the way, with very little support. Best of luck!

    • Ag says:

awesome – good luck with the campaign! :)

    • jane16 says:

Gigi, that’s great that you are doing a school bond campaign! Now that is a worthy use of time!

  22. Gea says:

Yes, she does look lovely, they both look great.
I have read somewhere that she comes from a very prominent Druze family, actually whole family are made out of high achieves . .

  23. Mitch Buchanan Rocks! says:

My bad side imagines a disgruntled employee at ‘Hello’ magazine, switching Amal and Georgies faces on the cover, for just a few copies or until someone noticed.

  24. JuJuBee says:

I’m surprised he didn’t wear a Casa Amigos T-shirt underneath his tux jacket. All of this coverage doesn’t scream love, the man is making a HARD sale to the public. What an ostentatious display by George. This is Kardashian and reality tv level of gross. I don’t believe for a second her parents footed the bill. I think it was leaked to the press, so her family could save face, but no way they had that kind of money.

    • Mrs Darcy says:

Haha… he did wear the His Casa Tequila Tee in the picture that they gave to all their guests

      • Sassy says:

Tax deduction documented. “I asked my partner, Rande Gerber, to fly a plane load of tequila over to Italia for promotional purposes. So – deduct the cost of the flight and retail cost of the tequila from the next tax return. Oh, and while you are at it, deduct the cost of Rande and Cindy’s room, and of course Cindy’s gown. Business reason? Hmmmm – oh yeah, she is a model spokesperson, so we hired her.

  25. Gina says:

Physically she reminds me of a raven haired Caroline Bessette….but the similarity stops there, she’s way more bubbly. I love the way she dresses, you barely notice George standing there, which is odd, what did he have a lobotomy or something….letting her shine while he stands there grinning like a love struck school boy, kinda cute…

    • AG-UK says:

NOOO not Caroline I loved her style and I guess they are both slim but Amal far thinner. The dress was nice but didn’t wow me but hey it’s her dress not mine. that’s all I have just will stop clicking on these links for a bit. As long as they are happy goody goody for them but I am curious as to what the NEXT installment will be.

      • Someonestolemyname says:

Mr Bean crossed with Bianca Jagger was a better comparison. IMO

She looks nothing like Bessette in style or looks.

      • Gina says:

Look back at Caroline pics. She was Virginia Slim 100. She had an air of mystery about her, unless perhaps it was just the coke. Yipes….don’t speak ill of the dead. The next installment..hmm….I think he’s had just about anyone he wants by now. He should stay clear of Leo though, he will start to look at all those starving super models and get jelly!

      • mimif says:

Omg Mr. Bean… I shouldn’t laugh but I totally am.

      • AG-UK says:

        @Gina

I didn’t mean installment as another woman but career or whatever I think he has planned. I think Caroline was more private or she really hated the intrusion. They both have a lot of hair though.

      • Luciana says:

Caroline Bessette and Gwyneth Paltrow’s style…so much love. We need to bring the 90s back…only style wise.

    • Maggi says:

I totally see the Caroline Bessete resemblance too! It’s the long hair and the facial features (shape of chin and jaw, large slightly droopy eyes). Amal has different style but when she keeps it simple and classic, like the pantsuit, the resemblance is more apparent.

      • Nephelim says:

Amal is more mentally stable and more fascinating ( clothes and personality wise) than Carolyn Bessette (R.I.P)
the “Kennedy – Bessette marriage” was a lot of things, and none of them were “aspirational or dreamy”.

        P.S:
        Sorry for my bad english

      • Gina says:

Wow people get all serious and angry on here sometimes! I didn’t say they were Patty and Cathy Duke, I just see a slight resemblance in their faces (like you said the chin, jaw, eye area) not their demeanor as a whole. Caroline was very mysterious until after her death and people started crawling out of the woodwork saying she was a cokehead. George’s gal just seems happy in the moment and doesn’t have any aire of mystery about her.

      • lisa says:

i just want to high five gina for patty and cathy duke

    • Esmom says:

Yes, I have gotten a Carolyn Bessette vibe from her too a number of times. Glad I’m not the only one. Although I’ll say CB was much more of am effortless fashion trendsetter than Amal has been so far. Although the wedding could have changed that.

    • lisa says:

i cant imagine carolyn wearing any of amal’s pap stroll clothes. she’d have broken out in a rash over those floral jeans.

      • Someonestolemyname says:

Haha yes she would have run screaming from some of Amal’s outfits.

Carolyn knew her husband to be,for real, dated him for several years before marriage, never famewhored it up, hated the press cameras in her face and had a elegant ,timeless style. She would have never been caught, even on a side street in NY in some of Amal’s Hello-Kitty attire.

      • perplexed says:

I don’t think Carolyn would have worn Amal’s shoes either.

      • Patricia says:

Carolyn and John were old money – they had class. George and Amal are nouveau riche and have no class hence this crass vulgar ostentatious Look at Me wedding. Also as you point out, Carolyn and John were a genuine couple who dated for years prior to getting married. Clooney and Amal barely know each other – they’ve only been together for 10 months. The paparazzi will stalk George and Amal on their honeymoon now and for a few months like Bennifer. It’s exactly what Clooney deserves after selling his wedding to the media for PR.

  26. Emily says:

This is the prettiest celebrity wedding dress that I’ve seen in a long time! I’m so sick of all the edgy/”high fashion” freakshow dresses.

You’ll never convince me that this marriage is legit, but the dress is perfect.

  27. Sarah says:

I am sure it cost $13M if things were paid at market price, but do you actually think Amal’s family or George did that? Is this kind of like how the Middletons paid for Kate’s Alexander McQueen dress? In my mind that means the dress was given away by the designer and they paid like a dollar. But hey, they “paid” for it!

    • Someonestolemyname says:

It’s already been denied by George’s peeps that her family paid.
George paid for the entire wedding.

She may have paid for her dress, yes, but the wedding was entirely paid for by George.

    • Granger says:

But I think you’re right, Sarah, that they didn’t really PAY for everything. Those iPods loaded with Alamooney’s play list? Probably a gift from Apple in exchange for some brilliant advertising.

  28. Loopy says:

This is the same thing that happened to Tom Cruise, he was always the cool understated movie star and then suddenly went bat shiz crazy for attention. It’s like some weird hollywood mid life crisis.

    • LAK says:

Tom Cruise didn’t suddenly go bat shit crazy for attention, he was always bat shit crazy for attention and remains so. He had a publicist who was very good at keeping a lid on media reporting any of his behaviour. She was so effective that people actually believed the image of TC as an understated, modest actor. When he fired her, the cat was let out of the bag. His new publicists couldn’t do for him what his previous publicists had done. His new publicists trained under his that first publicists and use the same tactics so we are back to people thinking that TC had a momentary lapse in judgement/mid life crisis, but he has seen sense and is back to being understated and low key. That is the work of his new publicists, the crazy Tom is still very much with us.

      • Someonestolemyname says:

Still I can definitely see the point Loopy is making.

Up until the couch jump or maybe the beginning was actually the break with Nicole which let a bit more daylight into his image a bit, but the Couch jump- Katie Holmes union really revealed some major discrepancies in his previous public image.
He sadly thought he knew better than his PR people….

So…..it’s understandable why some are equating a similar vision to Clooney.

Clooney has done a complete 180 not just on marriage( YEs men do that all the time, change their minds) …but he is pummeling the press with his personal life and it’s not just the days of the wedding, it was also the entire engagement , the Lead Up to the wedding. A full pummeling and non step selling of his personal life suddenly.
Also there was the Las Vegas drunk fighting with Steve Wynn, then the bitch fight in the press with Steve Wynn. Some of George’s actions even before the wedding were making some people scratch their heads and wonder?
So Loopy comparing him to Tom Cruise IMO is understandable on some level.

      • noway says:

We don’t know George hasn’t been bat shit crazy the whole time? George’s PR is probably the best in the biz. Stan kept Charlie Sheen’s form of crazy just under the radar long enough for the man to have several career highs or he at least he kept it acceptable for over a decade. How hard can that be, because Charlie truly is nutty. Then Stan finally quits, and we get his FU tour. The one thing I know for sure after this well produced wedding show, is no one on here really knows the true George Clooney. I used to think with him what you see is what you get, and now I think it was, is and will be an extremely calculated image.

  29. Jen2 says:

I really like the veil and I am partial to lace. The dress is nice, but nothing spectacular, (like something in Brides Magazine) but it is pretty. I think George paid though, not her family, but I could be wrong. But it seems to be all about the groom where most weddings are all about the bride. I wanted to see the dress from the back showing it off with the veil with photos of the bride alone. I think folks are already over saturated with this, so this magazine probably won’t be that special. But hope Amalooney are happy and content and wish them the best.

  30. Jag says:

The People photo is nice, but the Hello photo is awful. For $13 million it seems they would’ve had better photographs.

  31. Artemis says:

Hmm, her dress is quite classic and for me, that equals boring. Her fashion sense can be quite quirky so I expected a bit more. Something crazy no matter how subtle. At least she didn’t do strapless.

    • hmmm says:

Agree! This is playing it safe. Very traditional, especially when her taste is rather ‘quirky’. I guess that in future, it’ll go over really well with the voters.

  32. Dani L. says:

Knew it. I wonder why he’s suddenly so open about his private life. Anyway, congrats to them.

  33. Someonestolemyname says:

    I like the dress.
What is going on with George’s skin lately, it looks so dry.
I don’t like the Hello cover that much, it just looks so stiff.
    George looks like an undertaker.

  34. Shopgirl says:

Frankly, I think the dress is to young for her at 36. I wish she would have chosen something more mature. For the record, I’m 34 years old myself, so my comment is not based on “ageism”.

    • PunkyMomma says:

@Shopgirl – I tend to agree with you regarding the maturity of some of her dress choices. While I give the gown a pass, it’s the cathedral veil that I don’t care for – (and yes, I know, Angie wore a long veil, too).

    • Nephelim says:

Dress what you want! Stop caring what society thinks about you! Why you should you care about ” bitter, pathetic, olde biddies”? You body, your live, your Money, your taste, and your prerrogative. Are you a free human being? Age? What is that? Just a number.
      You live once, Live well

  35. BeckyR says:

She looks absolutely beautiful! He married UP.

  36. Monica says:

A few people yesterday made snarky comments that Clooney won’t be selling his pictures to tabloids like others celebs. I wonder what they have to say now.

    • Ennie says:

Well, they are going to be comparing the 2 weddings, and how superior is this one and how it is going to outsale Brad and Angelina’s, of course.
Anything to put the other couple down.
And don’t forget to also say how much better in their eyes Amal is/looks than the other bride, AJ.

Two absolutely different weddings and relationships. Good that both couples are supporting charities, its millions of dollars that translate to a LOT of help to people in need.

      • Someonestolemyname says:

George will probably throw another million of his own money at magazine purchases just to make sure it’s rises above.

      • Lena says:

Oh good grief. It is completely TACKY to sell your photos to a tabloid, and don’t tell me it’s OK because they are going to donate their riches to charity. Its fame whoring, pure and simple. That said, this wedding and dress are way more beautiful than that joke of a Brangelina affair, which was done only because their kids nagged them into it.

    • Someonestolemyname says:

Hahaha Yup. Remember George is too classy, only KK would do such.
Hahahaha George is famewhoring it up BIg time!

    • V4Real says:

A few people also said that Clooney and Pitt were not friends but only working friends. I think the guy from TMZ put it best when he said Rusty and Danny are bff. George and Brad, well they just did some movies together.

On the other hand George has said many times that he and Brad are friends, I never once saw the word working in front of friends. George has said that he’s happy to call Brad a friend. He also said that he and Brad are friends but it’s not what people think. He said Brad has been to his place in Como and they rode motorcycles together. They are just not the type of friends that hang out often. In 2012 he said he hadn’t seen Brad in over a year. So who really knows maybe they still are friends or maybe they are no longer friends but at one time they were. So we can say they were never friends but if the man himself say they are who are we to say different.

Lastly according to E News a source told them that Brad and AJ didn’t attend the wedding due to a heavy work schedule. Ben also said he didn’t attend due to promoting Gone Girl. Yes, that came from the horses mouth.

  37. Sarah says:

Blimey! Matt Damon’s wife’s boobs are on the front cover of People Mag!!

  38. Jackson says:

I love the dress. Glad she didn’t go with strapless – although the peeps on Say Yes to the Dress will be stunned to learn that wedding gowns do indeed come in something other than strapless.
    They look great together.

  39. cody says:

Nice gown and nice hair, now can we move on and talk about other celeb couples. I wonder what Joan Rivers would say about her gown?

    • Someonestolemyname says:

I’ve missed Joan all weekend. I would have loved to hear her comments on the mullet dress.

    • Olenna says:

Bless her heart, I miss Joan, too. I think she’d be forgiving on the wedding dress and just say it’s boring. But, she would’ve had a field day with the mullet dress. The whole look, with pixie stick legs, was sorta puppet-on-a-string.

  40. Mrs Darcy says:

Is the cake taller than them? I don;t get it, and she looks like she doesn’t eat so such a HUGE monstrosity makes no sense…but it does fit it with the huge spectacle Clooney is making of himself!
    And did they seek permissions from guests to put them on the cover? And their “looking at each other” cover pic is SO like Brad and Angelina’s except Brange seemed real. {And had a better cake…because Pax baked it :) }

    • Uzi says:

Yeah, as far as I’m concerned Brangelina raised the bar for celebrity weddings….just a few family members as guests, no hype, making it all about their children.

      • Chris2 says:

        Uzi
        I agree….the Miraval wedding’s the one that I’ll remember.
Still, I’ve loved the spectacle and glamour of G&A in Venice…..tis like Brad Pitt says: “George does it (ie HW fabulous-ritzy) for the rest of us”.

      • Jen2 says:

Nothing can beat having her mother’s name engraved on the stone they stood on when they were married and giggling children when their parents kissed. Those things are one of a kind and memorable. George’s was glamorous though, but it has been done before. The one thing I kind of don’t see with George and Amal is “heat”, but I do see friendship. But it is very George, so let him have his moment.

    • Nedsdag says:

Good grief, people! Why does Brangelina get a pass and Clooney is given the Tom Cruise treatment? I’m not a fan of either Brad or George, but what makes George the bad seed and Brad the angel? Get your priorities straight.

      • maddelina says:

I think some are worried these two will outdo the Brange and they very well could. She is highly educated, connected and beautiful. They have the possibility to do good things on a much larger scale.

      • Kvan says:

I guarantee that most on this board would be peeing on themselves with excitement if Angelina and Brad had a big public wedding. Somehow it would be justified and praised to the heavens. Just because it’s not your taste doesn’t mean it was done for the wrong reasons. You don’t know these people personally and are just assuming you know their motives. I can’t imagine the snark some of you have for people you actually know. The world does not revolve around the Pitts. There are actually other celebrities that fall in love and want to celebrate it!

      • Mrs Darcy says:

Well, I never compared the actual ceremonies. Just a joke on the cake.
And I originally hail from a country where people go bankrupt trying to outdo their neighbors with lavish weddings for their children. It is very common here for people to invite 500+ folks (even random colleagues, random distant relatives) and normal weddings have atleast 800-1000 people.I am one of the few who not only had an intimate ceremony with just 100 people (yes I know 100 too is big!) but also insisted on paying for my wedding (with my partner sharing equal parts of responsibility) and we made up with family by letting them invite 2 additional guests lol! It was not easy mind you as my family is pretty well known here and having a “small” wedding worried some people that my dad had got business trouble. (insane but true)My partner and I donated the money our families forcibly gifted us to an orphanage we both volunteer for.
With some friends I have started an organisation to counsel families to not go bankrupt just to show off that they can have the biggest possible wedding…It may all sound boring to some folks but financial repercussions of such social pressure are very severe and all too real. And that is the reason that insanely huge weddings for no rhyme or reason put me off.Even if someone can afford it, it still is not a logical explanation.

Maddelina – Only insane people will “worry” that someone will outdo Brad and Angelina. If anyone can do (and many people do!) more charitable work then that is better for the world at large. And as for “she” being connected, educated, beautiful- I suppose you mean Amal? She is beautiful and educated but beauty and education have nothing to do with making a difference in a total stranger’s life. Her client list so far is of famous individuals but famous for wrong reasons & we are yet to see any “outdoing”. At the Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict in London, Angelina was the host, she was on stage, while Amal was in the audience, just once. So we shall see.
But hey they (George) had a gigantic cake at the wedding at least the kids attending if any would be happy :)
That will be all from me.

      • Lea says:

Well Angelina is also well educated, perhaps not formally but through her decade long travels. She is also very connected, having met a number of world leaders & in June organizing their conference on sexual violence in war.
She is also beautiful, a director, actress etc.

How will they outdo Brad & Angelina, when most people are saying Amal Who?

      • Janet says:

FFS Maddelina, this is not a contest. Angie and Amal are in completely different lines of work. The only “competition” is in your imagination.

  41. Guesto says:

The Hello cover is awful, particularly after all the really elegant ‘candids’ over the weekend.

  42. Belle Epoch says:

Where are Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford now? Maybe they’ll turn up in Marrakech also!

  43. Calcifer says:

I love the dress, and I really like George and Amal together. Never thought I would say this, as usually I am not a fan of older men marrying much younger partners. I also found it refreshing that they invited the public to watch the festivities in Venice, why not just show it if you are happy. Also much more practical instead of hiding and sneaking around. George knows he is a public figure and doesn’t usually complain about the paps, and Amal seems to be willing to come along for the ride. I wish them the best, I sincerely hope they will last!

    • Calcifer says:

And no, the wedding did not remind me of a Kardashian wedding. I found it chic, even if it was on a grand scale.

    • Ally.M says:

I find your comment refreshing, the online response to this wedding has been pretty negative. I have no strong feelings either way about Clooney – I can take or leave him, so I’m surprised how much I’ve enjoyed seeing all the fanfare and celebrations. I don’t get why so many people are convinced she’s a beard/famewhore. What would be in it for her? She’s at the top of her chosen career.

      • Palermo says:

        Money, fame, worldwide recognition?

      • maddelina says:

        I agree

      • maddelina says:

        my reply was to Ally.M

      • Miss M says:

I don’t thik she is a famewh ore. She is living her fairytale (regardless of a real relationship or not). The common denominator among keibler, Larsen, canalis and Amal is george Clooney. So, he IS the famewhore one. At least, he found an accomplished woman who would be willing to give up Her privacy. I definitely would NOT, as I am a private person (unlike mr privacy Clooney)

    • Vava says:

Me too! I really enjoyed this wedding and think they did it up right! I think my favorite outfit of hers from the wedding weekend is the black and white stripe dress from Dior(?). Amal looks beautiful. I found a blog that features her fashion and intend to follow it in the future.

    • Marny says:

Totally! The gondolas and the fashion on everyone has been very fun to watch- very chic and glamorous.

  44. MsMercury says:

I like the dress but I wish she would have put her hair up or pulled it back.

  45. Hannah says:

Howard stern met her and said dye I’d captivating. Quite surprised by that because she doesn’t strike me as the mind of woman stern would drool over.

    • siri says:

He also said she talked a lot about her work for her clients…

    • Someonestolemyname says:

She talked about herself for 45 ‘minutes straight and then finally asked howard about himself. He sort of laughed during that comment.

The thing is George and Howard go way back,to leaving ER days, when many big entertainment shows still somewhat had doubts on seeing Clooney as a serious jump to feature films.
Howard was one of the few that would invite him on the show and support and help him promote that yet untested Try at feature films. But one of the things George had to do was also Discuss his colorful dating life and girlfriends with Howard on air, to please Howard’s heavily male audience. As George grew in Hollywood stature ,Howard remained loyal. He always speaks whatever PR talking points with every new girlfriend George has had
Elisabetta, Stacey etc were all given high praise, by Howard as long as they were with George.

In comes Amal who was coincidently placed near Howard ( The King of all Media) at one of George’s or a Hollywood party and had Howard’s ear for 45 Minutes, she talked just about herself for 45 minutes …and guess what, once Howard was back in studio , he was talking all the PR Clooney /Amal talking points, we are all reading in magazines today.
It was almost verbatim,International Lawyer, Full Package, Intelligent, she talked about representing Gaddafi’s sons. Which IMO was odd to discuss at a party.

But if Amal ever goes out of George’s life , watch the talking points change.
One funny part for me was Robin his sidekick, hinting that Howard was being big phony basically , kissing up to George., but I can’t recall all of what she hinted at because the video was broken up when I heard it.

      • siri says:

Wow, it all makes even more sense now! Thanks for all the details! If I’m not mistaken, Howard also hangs out with Georgie at Cabo…think I’ve seen pictures. I just love how you write Amal was ‘coincidently placed’ near Howard- oh yeah, sure. I think this PR-marriage will last for a while, after all, it’s a deal. I wonder, though, what role her mother/father played in this. Perhaps more her mother. I mean, Clooney’s PR team probably worked late hours after that Fey/Poehler joke to find someone more suitable. But I can’t help thinking Amal’s mother was also looking for a suitable candidate for her daughter. I mean, 36, no known former boyfriend/partner…Because I doubt that a mature, truly intelligent woman would just agree to be with a man who is known for his womanizing, and constant change of arm candy. Why would I do that to myself?

    • Kcarp says:

Howard Stern is one of the leading celebrity butt kissers in recent years. He is so PC most of the time it’s sickening

  46. serena says:

I love People’s cover! She looks really stunning, while George looks like…his usual self (lol). On the other hand I hate Hello cover photo.
I just hope they won’t feed us with endless stories about how ‘they love each other so much’ from now on. Enough of that! I’m already fed up with it.

  47. siri says:

Did her mother really say: “George and Amal radiated love all night!” ? How odd a thing is that for a mother to say? Oh, I forgot, she’s THE communication specialist, having her own PR company. The dress is nice, which translates to boring for me. But I expected something like this; unlike the mullet dress, George approved this one. The Hello cover is awful on many levels. Looks like they spend the night before on a tanning bed together. Hot, hot :-) Some people on here insisted earlier on, he wouldn’t sell his pics like other celebrities did. George will milk this till the end of time, it’s just the beginning, unfortunately. And I hope it’s just a rumor that her father said now it’s time to start a family. I can’t imagine them wanting/ having kids, they are too self-absorbed. And as much as George’s PR tried to make her into that highly-sought- of lawyer, the last couple of days proved to me that she’s just another girl loving the very large scoop of ice cream. I wish them well though, wouldn’t mind being wrong.

    • Sarah says:

@siri Yahoo did an article about Amal’s sister. The first thing I thought was, that just what we need. Another Pippa Middleton.

  48. islandwalker says:

    Geebuz. Overkill much?

  49. Sara says:

Amazing. I doubted these two all along UNTIL the wedding celebrations began. They look genuinely happy, so much so that I can’t help but feel happy for them! It really is true love.

  50. hilda says:

Thank God no Buttock Futtock on her dress

  51. BlueeJay says:

Anyone who sells their wedding pictures to People/Hello are fame whores (sorry loons even AJ and BP that’s why people criticize them just like they are with Clooney). No doubt about it – whether they donate to charity or not. Really respecting ScarJo all the more lately.

  52. Mimz says:

Am I the only one who thinks this is sooooo fishy? I don’t believe GC suddenly became groomzilla is madly in love and decided to get married in like what 5 months? someone that avoided marriage like the pest?

    Hmm NO

photos are ok. Thats all i got.

  53. Paloma says:

The dress is absolutely beautiful. I can’t help but compare it to Kim Kardash’s monstrosity of a gown. What a difference.

  54. murphy says:

    I prefer the People cover.
But I can’t get it out of my mind that this is just one giant farce.

  55. Suki2 says:

I would bet the palazzo that some of the endorsement deals for this wedding might make Sherri Shepard proud: the new Aman hotel, the free booze, all the photo ops for restaurants, tequila, designers and swag, even the City of Venice itself. Plus payouts by People, Hello, Vogue.

  56. joyful says:

Cannot believe the cynics on here blinded by jealousy I suppose. Obviously, the bride is beautiful and how perfect to be married in Venice. It is her first marriage and she had all the trimmings. Lovely! Why doubt the motives and not just enjoy the love.

  57. Someonestolemyname says:

Grace Kelly still steals the thunder of most.
Grace Kelly is hands down the most beautiful on that cover. IMO.

    • jane16 says:

Grace Kelly is indeed more beautiful than Amal, but Grace looked like she was going to the guillotine on her wedding day, and she stated many times over the years that it was a “wretched day”, and that her and Rainier were miserable with their state wedding and couldn’t wait to get it over with. Also, I don’t see any magazine covers or blogs featuring pix of Grace and Rainiers wedding this week, so not sure how you figure she is stealing anyone’s “thunder”.

      • Hazel says:

Grace is in the upper left corner of People magazine, a photo they used for an interview with Prince Albert. Grace is clearly the draw.

      • Someonestolemyname says:

I get the feeling they added Grace to draw more readers too.

  58. Nima says:

I find this marriage about as real as Beyonce’s baby bump.

  59. lowercaselois says:

Why do I get the feeling he is using this opportunity to change the direction of his image. Her hair looks good. I wonder now if she will be appearing on CNN as one of their experts on international law.

  60. AryaMartell says:

I love Amal’s dress. I’m going to give this marriage the benefit of a doubt and believe they honestly love each other and that he fell hard for Amal so much so that he decided to give up being an eternal bachelor. It’s happened to many a man and woman.

  61. TheCountess says:

If he was doing this in hopes of improving his profile for a potential transition into politics, I have to think this has backfired. It’s so completely over the top, against his grain and just utterly “try hard” that no one has been fooled for even a moment. Frankly, I take him less seriously now for having been a party to this spectacle.

    • Blythe says:

“If” he was? He is. There’s no other justification for this spectacle. I thought George hated these kinds of things. He’s known Amal for less than a year and now, they’re married? This is odd as hell. I’m not saying it’s odd to marry within the twelve months someone has known their partner, but looking at Clooney’s track record, this is weird for HIM. The paparazzi, the tabloid articles, the proclamation of love during the weekend for Amal. There are definitely some alternative motives for this “thing”.

    • TheCountess says:

I’m not exactly contesting that, but it’s a bit astonishing that no one in his orbit could tell him objectively that this would have the exact opposite effect that it was intended to have, if indeed his intention was to change his political profile. That’s sort of why I don’t get it. Someone could have, should have, would have seen what any outside observer could see and that it would backfire. One doesn’t have to be a seasoned political advance person to recognize this would be seen as over-doing-it.

Yes, there are clearly other motivations involved but you and I don’t know what they are.

When did he become so public? He was notoriously private…I don’t get the change.

I have to put my 2 cents in. First off, I am no fan of George Clooney, but I do not understand the dissing of him. Yes, he’s said some BS over the years, but who hasn’t? (*cough*BradPitt&AngelinaJolie*cough*) Personally, I think he went all out in this marriage because his first marriage to Talia Balsam was a slapdash affair and he admitted he wasn’t mature enough to commit to a marriage. Secondly, he found someone who is beautiful, intelligent, and TBTH way above even him. She didn’t have to go out on a date with him let alone marry him. (One publication stated she married some actor named George). Yet apparently he saw something in her that he didn’t see in Stacy Kiebler, Elisabetta Canalis, Krista Allen, Lisa Snowdon et al. As for the gay rumors, that’s what she has do deal with. Also, I do not think he is going into politics. Where is he going to run? California? BWAH, that’s not going to happen. Kentucky? BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! His own dad couldn’t get elected to Congress from there. Plus her career is a bit controversial to say the least, especially to the knuckle draggers in Middle America. I’m going to give these two the benefit of the doubt, at least for the early part of their marriage.

They are a classy and elegant looking couple.George looks immaculate and as handsome as he’s ever been. Love Amals dress it’s romantic, very feminine and she looks gorgeous.Congrats to them on a long and happy life together.

  66. Mrs Darcy says:

I forgot to add my congratulations.
Congratulations Tina Fey and Amy…George is now married and Taylor Swift has been single for a while! Can’t wait for what your next set of jokes will be at Globes 2015 :D

  67. Jayna says:

I love that wedding dress. I love lace anyway, and that is beautiful lace. I think the sillouette on her really flatters her. Boring? It’s classic and elegant. I guess I’m boring. And the bodice is done beautifully. I love the off-shoulder sleeves. I’m usually not a big fan of that, but the design is beautiful. After seeing so many celebs in wedding gowns that really do nothing for them or meh, I was relieved to see she made a beautiful choice.

I also sense the fakeness. To me it’s the body language – it looks choreographed. They don’t have the easy intimacy or signs of chemistry of people who are clearly sleeping together.

Remember the early days’ photos of Brangelina, when they were obviously into each other but pretending not to be? Yeah, it’s the exact opposite of that.

  71. Dari says:

Why so much photoshopping on George. He again looks like he is auditioning to play Barrymores corpse. (OLD Hollywood story of Barrymore’s buddies stealing his corpse and propping him up with a cigar and whiskey)

  72. Belgian_sky says:

For someone who always claimed that would never, ever get married again, this happened suspiciously fast (and flashy!). But I really doubt that was simply love at first sight… I’m quite sure George Clooney has a hidden agenda…

    • Someonestolemyname says:

      +1

    • Jayna says:

Men who say they won’t marry usually do marry fairly fast. My co-worker dated a sought after bachelor on and off for five years, lived together . He was a confirmed bachelor, no desire for kids. He had a dating history like George. He never committed and was adamant he had no desire for marriage. He was older than her and charming. Several years later he met a woman and he married fast, shocked everyone. He was almost 50. He changed a lot about his life, cutting back from work and traveling with her. It was odd, but they are really happy and have been married for years now.

And George and Amal both seem well suited for enjoying the limelight as far as this marriage. LOL

Beatty said he would never marry. Then he met Annette at the same age as George, 50s. Liam Neeson, around 40, said he operated better on his own when asked about marriage. Natasha changed that.. Natasha said her friends told her Liam, a known womanizer, would break her heart. They married a year later.
      Warren Beatty:
“The two had lunch and went for a short walk. When Beatty returned to his office, he called “Bugsy” director Barry Levinson and said of Bening, “I love her, and I’m going to marry her.”
It was love at first sight — at least for Beatty. Bening knew of her future leading man’s reputation as a womanizer. Beatty was all in, even if it meant leaving the single life behind.
“It took about 10 minutes [to fall in love with her]. Maybe five,” he later said. “I was so elated to meet her, and yet at the same time, I began to mourn the passing of a way of life.”
Beatty had lived an exciting, libertine lifestyle that seemed to involve nearly nonstop fun and sex.
“When I was in my 20s and 30s, there were certain things that were irresistible. And then into my 40s and into my 50s, being adolescent never got boring,” he has said. “That fortunately came to a conclusion, not a moment too soon.”
When he met Bening, then 32, Beatty was ready to be domesticated..”

      • Someonestolemyname says:

Liam Neeson marrying around 40 yrs old after being a womanizer and enjoying his single life as a young man, is not unusual, nor is it a good comparison to George. Liam never went around proclaiming year after year he would never marry.

Beatty married true to the type of woman he dated all along , he usually dated actresses and married an actress, when he finally did marry. People saw the romance progress in a normal fashion.

With George something just seems unshakably off about the whole thing. Not sure why or what it is though.

      • Jayna says:

@Someonestolemyname says, I agree George’s comes off more calculated, but I was pointing out how all men said they had no desire to marry and then fell hard quickly as far as the one they knew they wanted to marry. Warren’s public girlfriends were actresses but he was banging a million bimbos also on the side. or not publicly He was legendary. Then he falls for Annette while working with her, and the minute they get involved after the movie wrapped they started trying for children. She said they had a conversation about what they both wanted. She wanted children and she said they got romantically involved and started trying from that moment on. They got married while she was pregnant.

      • Suze says:

It’s not so much about George being older and getting married quickly, although that plays into it. It’s about George doing a 180 on his public persona of six months ago.

He was “never going to marry AGAIN.” He proclaimed that, publicly, repeatedly. He was a private person, who kept the details of his private life private, again, something he proclaimed repeatedly.

Warren Beatty never said he would not marry. Neither did Liam Neeson. And when they met the people they decided to marry, both their relationships and marriages occurred out of the public eye. The relationships were true to themselves.

George and Amal, on the other hand, are a public spectacle.

If they go off and have an interesting and meaningful life together, then more power to them. If they continue to do the pap waltz and live life on speakerphone, then the image that they have created will be solidified.

      • noway says:

I hate all the comparisons and looking for the true love story, as there are some BIG differences. First neither Warren nor Liam were married before they met their partners, George was a divorcee. Liam has little comparison. He was only 40 when they got together. I know a lot of men who get married late 30′s early 40′s big difference from 53. He never said he would never get married. He was just playing the field, not as much as George or Warren. Natasha was married at the time and 29. He was a working actor not the movie star of today, pre Schindlers List. Most of his success came with Natasha.

Warren not sure I would want this comparison if I was George. First Warren was with thousands of women. He was also on a pretty big career downward spiral when he met and married Annette-Remember Ishtar, then Dick Tracy another flop. Since being married to Annette (22 yrs), he has made three films, and George already has three films in the works. Beatty at the time and looking back at it now wanted a new and different life and became a father and house husband. Dustin Hoffman said something like that about Warren after Ishtar. As far as the fairytale love story, my understanding from people who know them as he comes from my hometown, they have had some problems. Warren is 77 now and I doubt Annette would leave him, but they have had real issues about his transgender son among other things. I think their marriage has been a bit of struggle for both of them, and sorry I think George wouldn’t put that much effort into keeping it together. Don’t see him giving up that much in the long run, but time will tell.

I love the dress, but I don’t like the top of the veil.

I’m just glad they are giving the proceeds from these pics to charity…that is a good thing.

It occurs to me that his PR people may have also floated those rumours about her parents paying, so that it would look like she came from an obscenely wealthy family.

And how about that Mom Alamuddin- the wedding was ‘legendary’? Not ‘lovely’ or some other heartfelt word. Sounds like another PR mouthpiece to me.

    • siri says:

“George and Amal radiated love all night!”….that’s PR & journalism talk, not a mother answering how she feels. Oh, she does come from a very wealthy family, sheikhs and all.

      • hmmm says:

Okay. Maybe they floated those rumours to show that her family could afford to pay for the wedding and are, therefore, obscenely wealthy ? :)

    • Nedsdag says:

Her mom is a respected international journalist. I’m not surprised by her gift of hyperbole.

  76. Miss M says:

He always had this pose ( from people’s cover) with his previous girlfriends. I like the dress, quite classic.

  77. Altariel says:

Dress is gorgeous. Lucky beeotch. Her whole life is one big success story, isn’t it?

So, did they get Kanye’s barber to decorate that cake?

  78. Magnolia says:

Does anyone know if there is a pre-nup?

  79. Katebush says:

I have thoroughly enjoyed the wedding coverage and each new set of pics .
    Classy elegant dream wedding.
I am in the minority but I absolutely lovex her short white dress, probably my favourite. She has been looking incredible in all the photos. I don’t know how they do it, I’m exhausted after one night out lol.

I wasn’t over the moon about the actual wedding dress itself was hoping for something a bit more daring but at least it wasn’t strapless.

George looks happy, good luck to them!

  80. Mean Hannah says:

I loved the whole wedding weekend bonanza coverage and all the comments!

I don’t know what George’s motives are for getting married so quickly and so publicly – and no, I don’t believe it’s true love – but I have a theory for Amal.

I’m guessing that she grew up sheltered and spoiled, raised for and worked for great things and found herself in her 30s with minimal dating experience. Wanting to be married and possibly wanting kids, with no real prospect who would measure up to her and her family’s standards. Then came George Clooney, who tried desperately to sweep her off her feet, and she decided that he was good enough. Mind you, he’s not as well-educated and a bit older then she’d like, but his fame and fortune would make up for it. Having settled on him, she managed to make him propose and throw a wedding extravaganza, making him think that was all his idea.

Their wedding, minus paparazzi and tabloid magazines, look like a lot of weddings I’ve been to or heard of. Rich people and people famous for their accomplishments get newspaper and magazine features on their weddings.

Is she a fame whore? She’s a barrister! Do you know any lawyer who is not high on his/herself and who doesn’t want to be famous? I don’t. Oh, and I also don’t know any lawyers and shrinks who don’t use their clients for cocktail banter.

  81. Side-eye says:

My opinion: I think we’re being trolled at this point with this press coverage. Of course it could all be genuine. Cynical me. I hope I’m wrong; even if it would be good joke on some levels I think it would be disrespectful to the public upon whose genuine respect and affection George’s career has been built and to the seriousness of marriage in general if this ultimately turns out to be something other than a real commitment to each other. The photos are lovely though and I wish them much happiness.

  82. lisa2 says:

So George paid for the wedding.. Why did they make such a big deal of her parents paying when that was not the case.

  83. Bella bella says:

Look at her hand in the Hello! cover photo. That is not a relaxed, comfortable hand. It is tensed up. The hand language in both photos is very off. I can’t believe Clooney is stooping so low as posed photos for People magazine. What has happened to the world.

    • lisa2 says:

So George is too good for People Magazine..

When did that happen exactly. George was on People quite a few times. So I don’t see how he has ever been above being a cover boy.

  84. siri says:

Most people think he’s gonna enter politics, but I doubt that, except for perhaps some UN/ambassador job. Amal woudn’t be an asset. But what he sure gets with this, is the connections her parents have with big Arab oil money, sheikhs and all, so he can produce more movies. I truly believe this is a very calculated move by George. Next to an image makeover, which is equally important to him. The Daily Mail already started making an international style icon out of Amal by comparing her to Duchess Kate. There goes the humanitarian rights lawyer. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Amal in the first row at fashion shows soon. I hope George is ok with a style icon wife in the long run, because I feel we will see less and less of the lawyer. She will be photographed whenever she leaves the house, and Clooney hopefully remembers that he cannot first invite everybody, and then send them away. Doesn’t work like that in showbiz land.

    • hmmm says:

Great point about expanding his connections. No matter how much of a style icon she is made out to be, I think the media will never let us forget she’s a “top barrister”, nor will George’s PR, because it remains useful.
