Elisabetta Canalis got married in Italy on Sunday, beating Clooney to the altar

Well, well, well. Elisabetta Canalis managed to beat George Clooney to the altar. Not that he cares. I actually got the impression – month ago – that Clooney was trying to one-up Stacy Keibler, not Elisabetta. I think George was done with Elisabetta a while ago and he never really looked back.

Anyway, Elisabetta announced her engagement a while back, and she announced recently that she too would marry in Italy, her home. She married Brian Perri, an orthopedic surgeon, in Sardinia yesterday. And we had photos, of course. It looks like a pretty normal-ish Italian wedding. Cobblestone streets, a lady in a puffy lace dress, lots of paparazzi. Elisabetta seems to be towering over her new husband. I don’t really care for her dress, but it’s not flat-out awful or anything. My biggest problem is with her hair. It’s your wedding day and you’re going to do the ombre dark-roots thing? NO.

As for Clooney, he did not marry Amal in London last Friday. Too bad. Page Six ran a lengthy item over the weekend about how he’s definitely going to marry at the Belmond Hotel Cipriani in Venice on September 27th, which… God knows, it could be true. I tend to think George is trying to be clever and letting people think he’s going to marry in Venice and it will really be in Como. You can read more about the alleged wedding plans here.

I could hate Clooney for the mere reason that he brought these people (the other one whose talent was being knocked up) to the collective consciousness, at all. Go away already.

    • mimif says:

You forgot the, erm, Vegas cocktail waitress Sarah Larsomething. Why do I know that? Thanks a lot, Kiddo.

      • RobN says:

I kind of liked Sarah whatshername. Seemed kind of nice and harmless, especially compared with this one.

      • Pager90 says:

Whether they are waitresses or wrestlers, They are all George’s level, IMO, because he chose to date them and some he dated for two and three years.

    • Lady Macbeth says:

Same here Kiddo. More puke-buckets needed now. Ouch

    • blue marie says:

Damn that Clooney. Why did I see these photos and mistake them for Popeye and Olive Oil?

      • Kiddo says:

I was drawn in by the bad orange-y dye job with generous roots. That doesn’t speak well on my behalf, but I contemplate Cumberbunches’ carefully crafted and coiffed curl.

      • mimif says:

Are you a forensic scientist? It’s the only explanation.

      • QQ says:

        So dead at “Generous Roots”

      • Kiddo says:

@mimif, so basically you feel we are reconstructing the scene of a crime.

      • Kiddo says:

        Fashion and Style CSI.

      • mimif says:

You mock me yet again! I’m serious. Your attention to detail is astounding, either that or you’re Rainman.

I’m going to get to the bottom of this if I have read through and read every.single.one of your posts. Trust.

P.S. I always wanted to be a forensic something or other.

      • mimif says:

Omg I got it! You’re totally a cop. A DEA agent, even.

We might have to break up, Kay-Z.

      • Kiddo says:

Special Unit: Sarcasm Swat. On hand with the vests, automatic weapons and heavy artillery when seriousness strikes and aims to takeover.

And also, I’m an excellent driver…of tanks.

      • mimif says:

Okay I get it, you just play a cop on TV, like Mariska Hargitay. Phew.

    • paola says:

I knew her long before you all did for obvious reasons.. so I’ve been the one who suffered the most!! She’s been on Italian tv for at least 15 years and boy.. I can’t stand her! I disliked her since the very first day and I hate Clooney for giving her importance and make her feel like an A-lister. After many years of work in.the showbusiness her body stoically refuses to learn how to dance, sing, host a program and learn to speak in English. Just go away.

    • Pager90 says:

He chose these women, showed them around the world as his girlfriends, yet now puts them down as not worthy of HIM. He sounds like a bit of a jerk. IMO
He chose them and was perfectly willing to be considered their boyfriend, now he puts them down and says they are beneath him. I think they are exactly HIS level.

      • Malak says:

Did he SAY they are beneath him????
I think he is a bit of a sleazebag, and couldn’t understand those women wanting to be with him.

Haven’t been to the cinema to see any of his movies.

    • Brittney B says:

Whose talent was being knocked up? He’s never had a child with a woman, or dated one with children, as far as I can remember…

  2. Ag says:

i don’t get her dress… is it off the shoulders? i guess the veil overwhelms the whole thing?

    • mimif says:

      I’m pretty sure it’s a lacy muumuu.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

A great Big, lacy mumu. I’m usually all, well it’s her day, but that is one gigantic dress.

      • Ag says:

it sort of looks like a mumu/toga hybrid.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

Don’t drag innocent muumuus into this mess.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Even innocent muumuus can be corrupted if they get into the wrong hands. They’re not angels.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

        *runs away sobbing*

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

OKitten, come back, please! Here Kitty, Kitty!! I’m so sorry! Did I say muumuus weren’t perfect?? Oh, hahaha, silly me, I must have been hallucinating! Typo! Yeah, that’s it, biiiig, fat typo. Mistake. My bad. Oops! Is my face red! I meant of COURSE muumuus are perfect! See? It’s safe now. I have mimosas!

    • Rae says:

I must disagree with Kaiser on this one… that dress is an abomination.

      • Sabrine says:

The bride is pretty and we can’t see the dress as it’s covered up by some kind of cape thing. Who cares anyway – it’s her deal. I doubt she was thinking about Clooney. She was two girlfriends ago. She looks really happy here and that’s what counts.

    • PunkyMomma says:

The dress looks more First Communion than Wedding.

      • aang says:

When I went looking for a first communion dress in the Italian area of Toronto I thought they all looked like wedding dresses. So maybe in Italy there is not much difference?

    • Hazel says:

We can’t actually see her dress–it’s covered by a cloak & veil.

    • Longhorn says:

Me too. I’m confused – too much going on. She’s covered from head to toe with material except her shoulders.

  3. bella says:

i think she looks just lovely.
so typical of an italian…easy, simple, unobstructed style.
and she is beaming…appears genuinely happy.

  4. alreadyready says:

Puffy lace dresses in Italy? Maybe in 1950!
Anyway her real dress is covered under meters of lace because she sold the pics to a magazine.

  5. tmh says:

She looks like a man. She has a very strong face.

  6. Hissyfit says:

It’s not even the ombré, it’s the style of her hair that looks terrible under the veil. And that dress, there’s too much going on. But other than that, she looks happy so congrats to the newly weds.

As for George, I’m sure he’ll keep us updated with his super private wedding every week with a leaked new info.

  7. alice / jane says:

I’m under the impression that we don’t really see her actual dress in those pics. She might have given an exclusive to some Italian tabloid and she’s wearing some kind of lace cape over the dress in compliance with the deal. If it’s not the case, that thing is hideous!

    • Lady Macbeth says:

I’m not sure, but I’ve kind of seen another wedding in Sardinia once and the veil with the lace all around could also be a part of their typical custom. Might be wrong, of course.

    • alreadyready says:

Right, it ‘ s a cape. And she sold the pics.

    • Susie says:

Right, she sold the exclusive of her wedding and wedding dress to the magazine CHI so she could not show it until the magazine came out (today). It is strapless but too heavy with lace, embroidery, pearls, et. and probably a size too large for her. She had this shroud around her so nobody would know the details of the dress.

  8. Dani says:

She looks really happy. Good for her.

  9. HappyMom says:

  10. Erinn says:

I just really can’t like Elisabetta. She just looks so severe in the face all of the time.

  11. LAK says:

    Her wedding dress confuses me.

  12. Jaybee says:

    Infant of Prague gown

  13. Jayna says:

She looks like she is swallowed up in an unrolled sea of lace, etc,l with the gown. No love for it, and the veil just flattened the top of her hair. But pretty woman and she seems really in love with this man. So good luck to them both..

  14. DavidBowie says:

I just keep thinking “poor schmuck”.

  15. Mitch Buchanan Rocks! says:

She likes the Little Lothario’s – good for her – you know what they say about short men with big feet.

  16. Jen34 says:

Her husband is adorable. I keep laughing about all these exes of George. I want Sarah to get married, also. She was the prettiest of the lot.

    • Pager90 says:

I think Celine?, one of the early girlfriends who was French, I think she was medical student, was pretty.

  17. Mischa Jane says:

I don’t get this dress at all. So much fabric! She looks like she’s drowning. It is almost nun-ish looking.

  18. RobN says:

That whole scene is one hot mess.

Is there any chance she’s simply on a different step than the new husband and looks like a giant because of it? I’m taller than my husband, but we don’t look like I’m standing next to a little boy. She looks like she could be his mother.

  19. Diana B says:

This is totally hilarious. At this point the universe is really sabotaging Clooney and his little wedding. So entertaining!

  20. Blythe says:

I didn’t know she was engaged. Anyways, she looks really happy. Congrats to the happy couple.

  21. Pager90 says:

She looks happy and she married a surgeon , good for her.
    Wish her the best.

  22. Miss M says:

She looks happy and her husband is younger and hotter than Clooney. Good for her! Congrats to the couple!

  23. George says:

Her gown looks like a shapeless sack. What is that?

  24. aqua says:

She has had a rough time in the last few months with a miscarriage so I’m glad she has found happiness. Congrats to them.

  25. Kosmos says:

The dress overwhelms her too much….she’s not a big person, so the dress should not be this gigantic, ugg. About Clooney, I don’t know why he has had a parade of women. You know he wasn’t really serious about any one of them for long, but they agreed to be his sidekick of the moment, perhaps for the fame it would bring them having been associated with him, geez.

  26. moo says:

She looks very happy. And her husband is better looking than Clooney.

  27. snowflake says:

she looks so happy, i’m glad. just warms my heart, her joy is so genuine

  28. Kara says:

    She looks gorgeous.
