Sherri Shepherd’s estranged husband wanted really weird stuff in their prenup

I was surprised by the interest many of you had to Sherri Shepherd’s divorce drama last week. The basic gist: Sherri’s husband of less than three years, Lamar Sally, filed for separation suddenly a few weeks ago. He made it clear that he was only filing for separation because of a residency issue, and that he definitely wanted a divorce and he wants the prenup invalidated because of FRAUD. What made the situation extra weird was that Lamar and Sherri are in the process of having a baby via surrogacy, and that Lamar filed paperwork to have full custody of the kid once the kid is born. So, basically, the whole thing is a huge mess. Now TMZ reports that Lamar and Sherri’s prenup included all kinds of weird stuff about how she couldn’t gain any weight and how they had to have sex all the time:

Sherri Shepherd’s estranged husband wanted her to sign a document promising that she would enjoy sex and not get fat … TMZ has learned. Sherri and Lamar Sally signed a prenup before they got hitched in 2011. We’re told at some point after the wedding, Lamar wanted an amendment to the prenup, which included the following:

– “I respect my husband’s opinions and recognize him as the leader of our home. I will always speak well of my husband.”

– “I enjoy having sex with my husband. I crave intimacy with him and want to be uninhibited and free in our lovemaking.”

– “It is my joy to submit to my husband as a way to honor God.”

Of course Sherri rejected the amendment. Lamar filed for separation earlier this month … Sherri has since filed for divorce. They’re fighting over custody of their unborn baby via surrogate. We contacted Lamar’s lawyer … so far no word back.

[From TMZ]

Well, Lamar sounds like a freak to me. I heard or read once that these kinds of prenups – the ones that include crap about the wife not gaining weight, etc – never stand up in court. Most courts seem them as non-binding “wish lists” and such, not the actual grounds for any kind of legal proceeding. Anyway, I guess TMZ is saying that this is what Lamar proposed and Sherri wouldn’t sign the document with this “amendment.” If a dude came at me with this prenup amendment, I think I would be like, “Yeah… not so much with the marriage.”

Just yuck. She should have filed for divorce once he proposed these “conditions.”

    • Nikki says:

Why do you believe this is even true? Isn’t it weird that we’re hearing about this, not when the prenuptial was being drafted, but only during the divorce.

Besides, didn’t she lose weight for the wedding? So she was fat when he landed her.

      • T.C. says:

I believe it because when he filed for Divorce he was all about the prenup and the unborn baby. This guy is scum and a gold digger. Sherri girl you need to work on your self esteem.

      • Chem says:

Her self-esteem issues stem from her religious beliefs though. If you have ever been to an evangelical church, you know what I mean. The women are taught that they must be submissive and that they must be Psalm 31 women (look it up). If the relationship fails, it is your fault as the woman. I have seen women married to alcoholics counselled to remain with their husbands because “God hates divorce” and because “Paul instructs the believers to remains with their unbelieving spouses so that through them, the unbeliever may be saved”. In fact I would go as far as to say that religious devotion is measured by how much suffering a woman endures in her marriage.

Now add to that the fact that Churches have the largest collection of persons with undiagnosed mental disorders – you know because people who are suffering are easy to recruit. Its just so easy to end up with someone with a personality disorder like narcissism or anti-social personality disorder and not even know it, until he pulls what this guy is pulling.

So you have Sherri, who ended up in Church thanks to a hellish life that plunged her into depression (she has talked about it). And you have this guy with who knows what disorders. Recipe for disaster.

      • Lucinda says:

@Chem–Proverbs 31, not Psalms. Just an FYI

      • Chem says:

My bad, Proverbs 31. On the surface a completely inoffensive verse, until you see how it is applied to place women in a permanent state of inadequacy. Constantly bending over backwards to appease patriarchy……..oh, I meant God. Poor Sherri. I bet she ends up marrying a third “God fearing” man who then proceeds to ruin her life. Again. Honestly, if she is searching for a new guy in Church then she may as well marry a guy she met at a Meth den. Mental disorders galore in both places.

  2. Samantha25 says:

The amendment is a huge red flag. That’s probably when he showed his true colors. He probably waited after they were married because the requirements were ridiculous.

  3. Audrey says:

Why have a baby with a guy who you know is controlling and crazy?

What a hot mess of a bed they made to lay in

    • kri says:

Is this is a joke? My god, who would take one look at this list and still go through with another 5 minutes with a person like this, nevermind a marriage. Gross. Soooo gross.

      • teehee says:

Actually this is entirely NORMAL in terms of a basic christian viewpoint. They really do still teach this and women do still have to accept it. Lets not even get started with Islam. But both want women to be puppets for mans vanity and total indifference.

      • Sooloo says:

@teehee – entirely TOO broad & reaching with that statement. You cannot speak for all folks of either religion.

    • MyHiddles says:

A gold digger would swallow it, but Sherri is the one with some money is this relationship. I would have taken one look at that amendment and been like, “bitch, you can carry your broke ass on.”

  4. Sixer says:

Mine (don’t worry; it’s an imaginary mine) says:

    - “I respect my husband’s smelly socks and recognize him as the smelliest-footed of our home. I will always speak well of my husband’s feet despite this.”

    – “I enjoy having my husband do the ironing. I crave intimacy with the 9in square piles of fresh, crisp t-shirts and want to be uninhibited and free in our laundrymaking.”

    – “It is my joy to mock my husband as a way to show affection (and avoid mention of his smelly socks).”

      Imaginary? *snort* Liar.

      You forgot:

I am allowed trysts of any nature in or on the premises of Thornfield Manor. These trysts are for my mental, physical, and social health, etc. etc. etc.. As such, I will refrain from commenting on any public forum about the apparent lack of maturity of my husband. However, in-person comments are fully permitted. Conversely, he is bound to never comment about my shortcomings. Luckily, I have none.

    • Sixer says:

What is the sock situation at Thornfield?

      • LadySlippers says:

I’m a pesky orchid. How would I know???

        *eyes wide with fake innocence*

Besides, are socks a part of the substantial Thornfield section of the pre-nup? Which, I must admit, is extensively detailed (your attorney/solicitor/barrister must hate you for that section alone. Doesn’t it run into the pages of the most inane items?).

      • Sixer says:

My attendance at Thornfield rests, in large part, on socks. Pre-nup hell, dahlink. Besides, what else does Tommy the threadbomber do with all his sockpuppetry?

    • Really says:

      LOL, love it!
I know a couple that have a prenup that says the wife could not weigh more than 150lbs, except when she was preggo, and after she gave birth there was a specific number of moths she had to get back in shape. In that relationship, the woman is a few years older and the “sugar momma”. It happens.

    • Sea Dragon says:

      Omg. So funny!!

    • I Choose Me says:

      Hahahaha. Brilliant!

  5. blue marie says:

Why would she have agreed to all that, that’s ridiculous.

  6. MrsB says:

I think they’re both a mess honestly. Sherri’s other ex/father of her child filed for custody of their son together before this divorce and he makes some pretty serious claims of abuse against their son. So, I’m not sure what to believe at this point.

    • Latisse says:

Believe the accomplished woman with a job as opposed to the unemployed layabouts attempting to extort her through her own children.

    • Patty Cake says:

Actually the child abuse claims were bogus. He said that the child was, if I’m not mistaken, learning on a second grader’s level & could not yet tie his shoes on his own. But it appears that he is a jack@ss ciz the child is autistic so those struggles with learning are expected.

      • Delorb says:

        @Patty Cake,

So true. And when he mentioned how much time she spent away from him doing Dancing with the Stars, I kinda felt bad for the kid. Then I learned that they filmed in LA and the baby daddy LIVES in LA. Why didn’t he offer to keep his child while she was busy working, if the well being of the child was his top priority? Because it isn’t. All he cares about is the money.

Looking at the current, soon to be ex, I can just see the control-freak written on his face. That smirk tells me all I need to know. But men like this are somehow prized. A strong man who keeps his house in order is a good thing to some women (usually the very religious ones). The gossip is that he’s been cheating on her from the beginning, BTW.

    • FLORC says:

Sherri is a ball of drama that snowballs into more drama. They both created this mess. And sadly there will soon be a child involved that more of a pawn to hurt eachother than smething they can love despite their ill will towards eachother.

      They both disgust me.

  7. kibbles says:

Sherri must have been really desperate to marry this slime ball. But then again, I remember her being really religious and believing that the world is flat, so maybe these conditions are in line with her and her husband’s religious beliefs so she didn’t think much of it. At least she wasn’t stupid enough to sign the amendment but she should have been the first to file for divorce after he presented those conditions to her.

    • FLORC says:

      I remember that too.

I think she’s still like that at times, but has learned to not say that stuff in public for pr purposes.

    • feebee says:

It’s hard to feel sorry for her because she has said a few outrageous things and if you think of those things, then his things are only a couple of steps from them. But for normal folk the problem with what he ‘asked’ for isn’t so much a red flag as a set of king-size sheets blowing from the rooftop in a stiff breeze.

She stayed and went on to (approaching) parenthood with this guy. I know she was good at keeping whatever problems on the DL but man, did she not ever say anything to her girlfriends, cos if they were any friends, it would be Oh Hell No!

    • cubfan34 says:

Sherri didn’t say the world was flat. She said she wasn’t sure it was round. This was the first week she was on the show, she was nervous and said several odd things. She corrected the statement a few days later.

  8. OriginalCrystal says:

“It is my joy to submit to my husband as a way to honor God.”

Boy, sit yo punk ass down with this nonsense.

And why is it always these fat dudes that want to police their woman’s body when they’re looking like Robert Kardashian ? All these 5′s walking around thinking they deserve 10′s. Get out with that bs.

You better be fine as f-ck or bringing in those 6 figure checks on a daily basis for those kind of demands & it looks like he fulfills neither so bitch bye.

Why is Sherri with someone like this? there must have been some red flags at the beginning of their relationship… Desperation makes people so pathetic, how much do you dislike yourself to marry someone like that? Girl, do better. Seriously.

  9. Kim1 says:

According to first husband Sherri works too much and leaves her son with the nanny.Maybe she works so much because she has to support two men.Her first husband cheated on her and got another woman pregnant yet she still had to pay him alimony. Her current husband is an unemployed writer who just hired Kevin Federline’s attorney.

    • Clever hand says:

Does anyone else remember that she had a sitcom based on what happened with the first husband?

  10. Penny says:

That sounds like the form Dennis tries to get women to sign on It’s Always Sunny.

Did he try this before or after they were expecting a child, because surely you’d run a mile at the first mention of this, not start looking for surrogates?

    • Hiddlesgirl85 says:

@Penny: lol. That shout out to “It’s Always Sunny in Philedelphia” was hilarious. Dennis and his bizarre contracts! I love that show to pieces.

  11. Marianne says:

Why would anyone ever agree to sign some crap like that?

  12. Abbott says:

She’s just as crazy as he is. Her first husband filed for sole custody and has some serious claims of shepherd’s abuse against their son. Both husbands filing documents saying she is not fit to have custody of a child? Please. This dude’s amendments, while ludicrous, are laughable compared to the claims against her.

    • Michelle says:

Sounds like the two are both money grabbing, jobless losers. Her son Jeffrey has autism which is why he behaves the way he does. That has nothing to do with how Sherri is as a mother. What is Jeffrey the father doing for his son besides badmouthing the mother?

  13. Lilacflowers says:

Why did she marry this person? Why is she having a child with this person? Why would anyone marry this person? Why would anyone have a child with this person? My sympathies are with the child who is about to be born into this mess, not with either of the adults who created it.

    • LadySlippers says:

Unfortunately, people that have been abused tend to find similar people again and miss the warning signs until it’s too late.

      • P.J. says:

@Ladyslippers: That is an enormous leap you made by proclaiming-or even just suggesting-that Sherri has been “abused” by either man and is somehow stuck in a cycle of it. Sherri herself has never even ONCE claimed that either man abused her-unless you count infedelity as abuse-so why go there?

Let’s not take a strong, wealthy, incredibly independent woman and twist things in an effort to turn her into a victim. Sherri stood up to her ex and walked away from a very bad situation and came out much stronger for it on the other side. (Her own words.)

  14. BeckyR says:

Of COURSE he wants full custody of the baby. That would mean some big child support checks every month for the next 18 years.

  15. Patricia says:

This list should be grounds for not giving him ANY custody!

This man would not make a good father.

    What a complete d|ck.

  16. NewWester says:

That last photo I gasped I thought what happened to Diana Ross?!!!! I need more coffee and new glasses

  17. Kiddo says:

Kaiser, don’t you think a judge will look at this and be appalled at its wording? I mean, if you needed proof that this guy is a controlling asshole, didn’t he, himself, provide that evidence?

    • LadySlippers says:

Judges don’t always have a lot of common sense. Let’s hope hers does.

    • feebee says:

Ah, have you heard about some of the judges making news for their “judgements” lately?? The one who essentially let the school teacher off as he deemed the (late) victim was “older” than her chronological age of 14 so it was sort of okay is the one that pretty much haunts me. But he was just one of a crop.

  18. Ag says:

wow. this sounds like a hotter mess every day. don’t get me wrong, i think that sherri is as dumb as a box of rocks (although, god help me, i LOVE her on 30 Rock), but this guy sounds like an egotistical, delusional a$$hole. i take back everything i said before about him prob being the better custodial parent for their unborn child. that poor freaking baby, good lord.

  19. Mingy says:

UGH hope this first class prick gets a F!ck You deluxe.

  20. Talie says:

If you have ever listened to the way Sherri talked on The View — with her very antiquated views about men, women and marriage — I’m not surprised she attracted a guy like this into her life. And I’m also not surprised that when she got him, she realized it’s much better not to be in a relationship following the Bible’s words verbatim.

    • T.C. says:

The downside to following the Bible literally without context. She wanted a religious man who followed the Old Testament in marriage and she got it then was horrified by the reality .

  21. kimber says:

He’s a controlling geezer how crazy is she for going along with the bs in the first place?

  22. Liz says:

What a prize this asshole. He’s a delusional, overweight, lazy, unemployed goldigger , He wishes he was a “5″. He’s more like “0.4″ on a good day.

The abuse charges Sherri’s ex don’t seem valid. He claims she works a lot. Please!

  23. Liz says:

This jerk thinks he should have a “10″. Let’ see if he deserves one.
His face: – O.5 (yes, that’s a minus sign in front of the zero)
Body: 1 (being generous because he’s not short)
    Career Prospects: 0
    Personality: – 0.000000002

It seems with this kind of score, coupled with what he wants in a partner, he needs to go out and beg, borrow or steal a used blow-up doll.

  24. Grant says:

What a disgusting asshole he is.

  25. The Other Katherine says:

Getting divorced by this guy can be summed up as, “No great loss.” Shame about the kid in utero, though — that’s going to be a mess. I’m surprised their mutual religious conservatism allowed for surrogacy (and I should be surprised that it allows for divorce, but I’ve beaten that particular dead horse of hypocrisy enough times already in my life).

  26. Michelle says:

UGH. Lamar will now pass on these beliefs to their child. She should NEVER have agreed to have a child with him.

  27. Pumpkin Pie says:

An amendment to the prenup AFTER getting hitched? Is that even allowed? It’s a pre-nup. Before marriage.

  28. TG says:

@Chem – Your comment about strict religions ending up with a lot of mental disordered people because they are mentally unbalanced and easy to recruit is interesting. I always assumed the mental disorder was a result of the strict religion. By that I mean these strict rules they often have for both men and women can go against what is normal for a person to go thru. Such as it is normal to get upset at someone or even angry at them and how you deal with it, such as talking it out, etc. But many religious teach that the woman cannot argue with the husband, he is always right, you can never get angry, get jealous, get lustful, etc. All of these are normal human emotions that most healthy people and unhealthy ones as well experience, but if you are taught that anger or getting mad is a sin than you shut that part down in your brain that would normally resolve itself. I am not a doctor and may not be explaining it right but I was raised a Christian Scientist and I have seen and read about a lot of depressed and mentally ill people in that religion, including my mom, and it is my belief the unrealistic expectations will do that to a person. Maybe it is a bit of both though.

    • TG says:

Oh and I forgot to add these strict rules that mess with the brains of the parishioners are why we see murders of spouses or killing their kids due to stress because divorce and counseling to get mental health help is not an option so murder is the only way out in their way of thinking. Since they lost their reasoning skills long ago.

  29. LAK says:

That list is grounds for divorce!!!

  30. Triple Cardinal says:

Pumpkin Pie asks: “An amendment to the prenup AFTER getting hitched? Is that even allowed? It’s a pre-nup. Before marriage.”

    Before the wedding, it’s a pre-nup. After the wedding, it’s a post-nup.

  31. joan says:

If a woman in 2014 is so naive / “religious” / stupid that she agrees to “submit” to her husband then she deserves what she gets.

I’m tired of people agreeing to ridiculous stuff and then wanting to back out when they realize what they’ve done. On some level they must know that submit crap is just code for an unequal situation.

    • Oceansoul89 says:

I agree completely. Most women (not all) I see in this situation are so unhappy it not even funny. What kind of woman/man would submit to anything their spouse says? It’s a from of control and not right!

  32. P.J. says:

I hate to say it but all of that stuff in Lamar’s attempted ammendmeny just sounds like he wanted to get put in writing a commitment to all of the things (except that crazy weight clause) that Sherri HERSELF has always gone on and on about on The View and lots of interviews about how traditionally “Christian” she is. (I put Christian in quotes because almost none of what she has ever preached has anything to do with my-or maybe even most people’s-version of modern Christianity.)

Maybe the “fraud” charges could be based on Sherri not actually practicing behind closed doors what she preaches publicly and she turned out to not be who he thought she was when the were dating and eventually wed. (I’m totally just guessing here because I don’t no either of these people from a hole in the wall and neither do most who are throwing out their own theories all over the internet and in the press. Either way, all I know for certain is that I sure as hell would not want to be involved with either one of them; this whole thing sounds like a DISASTER of horrific proportions.)

I feel very badly for her son and this new baby on the way. My heart goes out to them both. Just crazy…

  33. Ally8 says:

She’s a great comic actress. I wish I didn’t know she is such a moron.

  34. offensive says:

Ms sheppard once had a guest on the View that said the same exact thing..that her husband was the leader of the house and that she willingly submitted to him to honor God…they must attend the same Bible study class!

  35. eva k says:

I really believe his plan all along was that as soon as a baby came into the picture, he would sue for custody and live off the child support she would have to pay him since she makes so much more. This is exactly what her 1st ex-husband is now doing. They’re both just losers trying to sponge off of her.
