Prince Harry used to drunk-dial Chelsy Davy & leave her crazy-drunk messages

The neverending phone-hacking trial is the gift that keeps on giving. When we’re not hearing about Prince William’s “babykins” pet name for then-Kate Middleton, we’re hearing about how Sienna Miller totally banged Daniel Craig in 2005. And now this gem, which… I honestly think we’ve all assumed, but it’s interesting to get a confirmation. A former News of the World reporter said in open court that Prince Harry used to drunk-dial Chelsy Davy a lot in 2006. HA.

The phone hacking trial in London today heard that Prince Harry would make drunken phone calls to his then girlfriend, Chelsy Davy during ‘piss-ups’ with his army colleagues.

In an email sent in March 2006 and read to the court today, former News of the World royal correspondent Clive Goodman said “She gets calls from him and he’s completely not in a good condition… piss ups”.

He would apparently ‘shout affections to her down the phone,’ Goodman added.

There was also a rehashing of evidence of a prank call by William, where he put on a female voice and left a message for Harry saying: “Hi it’s Chelsy here. You’re the best looking ginger I’ve ever seen…. You big hairy fat ginger.”

The message came from a transcript of micro-cassettes recovered from private investigator Gleen Mulcaire’s home.

[From The Daily Beast]

We’ve heard about William’s “prank calls” to Harry before, I’m pretty sure. And last year, we heard about how Chelsy Davy “blitzed” Harry with phone calls and texts while he was studying and training at Sandhurst, circa 2005. So, Chelsy and Harry had a lot of passion back in the day. We knew that already! But at least it went both ways. She blitzed him with calls and texts and he was always drunk-dialing her and boisterously telling her how much he loved her. Aw.

There were more revelations about Harry in court yesterday – apparently, at the 2005 wedding of Tom Parker Bowles (son of Camilla), Harry reportedly told someone at the wedding that he would have rather been attending Katie Price/Jordan and Peter Andre’s wedding, which was taking place on the same day. His exact words, according to a lip-reader employed by NOTW, when asked about how he felt about Tom’s wedding: “To be honest, I’d rather be at Jordan’s.” Funny.

    I’m sure he did.

That phone call from William to Harry made me laugh.

    • Liberty says:

I know!!!! I will walk around all day laughing at this: “You big hairy fat ginger.”

Honest to goodness, I have nothing against little Cressida but I just like Harry + Chelsy. I imagine them drunk dialing and laughing all over the place. I imagine Cressida slowly and dreamily pawing through a bedroom full of scattered discarded scrunches and pants and scarves and leotards looking vaguely for her mobile, then finding some beads and wafting away while Harry waits for four hours for a call back.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Ha! Good images. Yes, they were cute together.

      • Apples says:

I loved your imagery re: Cressida! This will be my new impression of her: vague and slightly listless.

      • bluhare says:

Thank you for putting it into words. That’s exactly it!!

Look at Chelsy and Harry’s photos. Granted it’s just a few and hand selected, but they look like they have so much fun. Harry and Cressida, not so much. And it is just beyond adorable, Harry would get drunk, boisterous, sentimental and amorous. Nice quality, actually.

      • Liberty says:

@bluhare — yes, those photos say so much, don’t they? Sure, just a selection, but they seem to fully underscore that natural comfort and playfulness they seemed to have had…. sigh. “…boisterous, sentimental and amorous.” All that.

      • Liberty says:

It just hit me: in the photos we see, it looks like Harry is always trying to make Cressida laugh. In the Chelsy photos, she already seems to be laughing with him.

Maybe that is coloring my viewpoint…..

      • bluhare says:

Liberty, I agree about Cressida. The press reports are all about reluctant Cressida and Harry’s coaxing her to get serious. Now she apparently is, and we’re still being fed reluctant Cressida stories.

It’s the “shouting affections to her down the phone” that got me. It’s so bloody endearing. Scampy Harry in one phrase!

      • Liberty says:

Bluhare, I am sighing over the idea of scampy Harry.

Do you think she is really “all in” or just…trying to be?

      • bluhare says:

Liberty, I don’t know about Cressida. She’s got that enigmatic thing going on. She’d better be all in, otherwise, she’s playing him and that’s not right.

      • Liberty says:

bluhare….she doesn’t strike me as a player per se? More like someone who sort of floats and sparkles along, what will be will be. People say she is sweet and down to earth generally. Perhaps kind, fond, trying, “oh look over there! a dance show with puppies!”

    • wolfpup says:

I don’t see photos of William and Harry together, but we know they often are. That makes me think that they have a whole life going on that we know nothing about. That is the problem with Will and Kate. They’re out of touch! (as they wave graciously).

I do not know how the royals interact with the press, and how much influence they have over a story… Harry and his girlfriend are noticeably public, that I think that we’ll see more and more of Cressida, until the crescendo. Are the royals controlling the story line? It’s hard to understand why Will had Kate, sit away from him, at his mother’s concert, when they were actually engaged. At least Harry treats Cressida her with respect. She has a free spirit, and perhaps that is why Harry is drawn to her.

It would be nice to know Kate. There’s nothing about her to relate to, except her looks, clothes and smiley faces, (residences, and vacation)s. It’s hard to see Cressida looking the soldier, like Kate. That’s what Kate reminds me of, uniform, duty and all that. Smile, be nice. Who is she? It’s just so vacuous!

      • Dame Snarkweek says:

Good questions/observations. I think there is always a disconnect between the real person, the image they want to project, the perception their admirers/detractors swear by and the version the media decides to run with. The complexity of all these variables is further heightened by the fact that personal character and development are anything but static. And by the time sources, the media, key players and the passage of time, itself, gives us a glimpse of the truth all of the already mentioned variables have shifted yet again. But yes, it keeps things interesting.
The semi-official reason Kate stayed out of the limelight during the Diana benefit concert was to keep the focus on Diana’s legacy and philanthropy. I tend to think that William carefully guards Kate from the media and public functions is because he knows she is a shaky mess if he is not by her side and can varely string a sentence together for a sound bite. Sad, really.

    Ah young love……..

    So cute.

    • FLORC says:

But we all have to grow up at some point.
I can appreciate that Chelsy knew this sooner rather than later.

      • bluhare says:

I still don’t want to grow up, FLORC, and I’m going to stamp my foot to prove it. You’ll have to take my word that I actually did. :)

      • Liberty says:

Stamping my foot along with you, bluhare.

My German neighbors were a silly laughing teasing couple. Jokes, he would make her blush, pull pranks, she would laugh so hard and tease him right back. The chemistry!! Oh I forgot to mention, they were in their eighties, and had raised two lawyers, two doctors and an IT genius. I am so glad they never grew up and I got so see their young love.

      • LAK says:

Oh Liberty. I’m so envious that you witnessed that. That’s my ideal relationship.

Who said love has to be grown up. Give me teasing, laughing and creamy all over!!!

      • Liberty says:

LAK – They will always be my relationship watermark. The affection and joy was ever present, even when they just sat together on the bench in their garden chatting in summer evenings. I am so lucky I got to see this kind of relationship, yes. And I agree…teasing, laughing and creamy all over. Life is so serious; love can be a haven.

      • FLORC says:

Liberty that sounds like a lovely family.
And we can all act like this because we’re not marrying into a fishbowl. I think you ladies knew where I was heading with that, but I do appreciate the foot stomping!

      • Liberty says:

FLORC — I understand! and there’s definitely a point to be made that way. My elderly lovebirds also ran a business, they didn’t just sit around beaming. And yes, in the royal fishbowl — another sort of story. But one still hopes for…a romance for Harry. He seems a truly open-hearted person.

      • FLORC says:

Your couple just sounds better and better. They also sound the like an exception to the rule. A 1 in a million match. Or maybe i’m just jaded.

  6. Kali says:

He’s totally the “no I RILLY luff youuuuu” drunk guy, isn’t he? Oh Harry, you loveable ginger scamp 😉

  7. Secret Squirrel says:

Harry really is the life of the party! Nice to see a royal enjoying themselves and not taking everything so seriously!

  8. Anna says:

Man, I wish they had lasted :(

    • FLORC says:

Can I polish those rose tinted glasses for you Anna?
Good quality lenses not only hide blemishes, but glorify the image.
Personally I prefer the rose tint to the beer goggles, but find the goggles screw with your head less in the long term. Hindsight is more distorted with the glasses versus goggles.

      • LadySlippers says:

That’s because beer goggles get less fuzzy as you sober up. Or fall off entirely after praying to the porcelain god(ess). Rose coloured glasses tend to stay ‘rosy’ for longer durations of time. Makes all the difference in the world.

      • bluhare says:

I love a good pair of rose tinted glasses, FLORC.

Actually, I used to take beer goggles out to health fairs. Seriously. We had a set of glasses that mimicked your vision when legally impaired. People loved them. :)

      • LadySlippers says:

Oh bluhare, I HATE those glasses! Lol

      • bluhare says:

Which ones, LS? The rose tinted ones or the beer goggles?

      • LadySlippers says:

Good call bluhare. I missed that. Lol

But what I meant is the beer googles people bring to fairs and whatnot. They make me SO nauseous. :-(

      • FLORC says:

I remember wearing those! They were nothing like my later in life beer goggles since I lacked my inflated self esteem. And they did not make the people around me any cuter. Only wavy and swirled.

  10. Dame Snarkweek says:

His code name for her on facebook used to be chicken. Too cute!

    • LadySlippers says:

Some of his posts about her were funny. And embarrassing. :-/

He really wears his feelings on his sleeve.

      • Angelic 21 says:

What post a about Chelsy?! Please tell LadySlippers, I would love to read Harry unedited talking about Chelsy!!!! Please, please please……..

      • LadySlippers says:

        OMG! Lol.

Stuff like he couldn’t wait to see his chicken. He was taking off all his clothes for chicken, to surprise her when she got home. Lots and lots of very thinly veiled sex stuff.

Go on tumblr and you can find actual screen shots of his old FB page. There are a couple of really good Prince Harry blogs too — I can link a few if you want.

      • bluhare says:

        I want Harry links. I can’t believe I haven’t gone looking actually.

      • Angelic 21 says:

He put all those on Facebook!!! You are right they are funny and embarrassing. I stay away from tumblr but post me links to blogs that have these messages.

      • LadySlippers says:

I don’t know if Emma* still has them or not but Emma was one of many that had screen shots of his old FB pages. At one point she wasn’t sure if she was going to circulate them because they were meant to be for his friends and only his friends. (Check her tags)

Mel* might have them too but cannot recall. She also has an interesting counter argument to all the Chelsy fans… (Not saying I agree but it is very interesting)

I am not sure if anyone else has the FB pages saved.

*I use the women’s names because they themselves have out it ‘out there’. Not every blog owner does that and I try and respect those that wish to keep silent.

      • bluhare says:

        Thank you, LS.

    • bluhare says:

When I saw my English relatives last year, the first thing I said to one of them was, “you know what I remember most about you? You used to call me “chicken”!” She did. She was my dad’s cousin’s wife and we’ve stayed in touch. Lovely lady.

      • Liberty says:

        awwww…….. :-) such a sweet story!

      • bluhare says:

Thanks Liberty. She’s a good person. She’s the one who phoned the day George was born, and I assumed that’s why she was calling but it was only to talk bonsai with Mr. bluhare!

      • FLORC says:

Lol! That was a great conversation.
Bonsai plants are very tricky sometimes. I’m 0-2.

      • Liberty says:

“I say, my dear, let’s talk bonsai, shall we?” — oh I love it.

      • bluhare says:

FLORC and Liberty, they were actually quite taken aback by how much I knew about the royal family. They didn’t think that Americans pay any attention (and I’m a Yank even though I’m not!).

      • Liberty says:

        bluhare — truly cool.

    • TG says:

I am surprised it wasn’t Miss Piggy.

  11. Obsidian says:

I like Chelsy more than Cressida. She seems fun and smart.

  12. epiphany says:

He really does have a type, doesn’t he? Has he ever even looked at a brunette?

    • Dani says:

The only thing Chelsy and Cressida have in common (besides both starting with a C) is their hair. Chelsy is really bright with an actual career in law.

      • epiphany says:

By type, I was referring to his seeming preference for blondes.

      • Angelic 21 says:

Frankly speaking not to get into Chelsy vs Cressida debate but implying someone who doesn’t have a career isn’t bright is rather offensive. A career sure implies someone is driven or smart etc but the inverse is not always true. My mother, aunts and a lot of cousins still never worked in a professional setting and I don’t think they aren’t smart or intelligent or hard working.

      • FLORC says:

        Yes Angelic

It’s just not a decent argument saying Chelsy is better than Cressida because Chelsy has a career in law.

Careers are not how people should be judged above and below eachother.
We might bring up Kate’s lack of work history, but that’s not the same as a lack of career. It’s a history of being lazy or lacking work ethic. Cressida may not have a career as strong as Chelsy’s (plus there is an age difference there), but Cressida has shown herself to be able to be busy and have goals at the very least.

And lots of people will come around to Cressida once the PR machine kicks in.
It really sways opinion so easily.

    • Talie says:

I don’t know, but Lainey has said he’s been with black women. Just not publicly.

      • LadySlippers says:

A blog on tumblr has said the same thing.

        Not sure how they know…

      • bluhare says:

Someone whispered? That’s my guess anyway.

Where there’s smoke and all that . . . unless someone just forgot to put their cigarette out.

      • LadySlippers says:

Oh bluhare, you made me chuckle!

And it quite possible that Harry and others have had romances kept from the public. I don’t discount that at all.

      • bluhare says:

I aim to please, Ladyslippers. :)

      • Dame Snarkweek says:

The rumor was that it was a particular waitress at a club he favored. It was for a period of six months or so and they failed to keep it much of a secret, allegedly.he also is rumored to have had an off and on thing with Natalie Imbruglia.

      • LadySlippers says:

There are actually several people whispered to have hooked up with Harry.

    • mayamae says:

I’ve only seen these two girls, but it seems he likes average looking girls. Good for him.

      • bluhare says:

I have to agree, mayamae. For a guy who could have his pick, it’s quite refreshing that he hasn’t dated any swimsuit models (that fling he had doesn’t count!).

      • LadySlippers says:

I think the fling should count but she was still an outlier as most of the women he’s been with or rumoured with haven’t been drop dead gorgeous or super thin.

And both Chelsy and Cressida, plus most
of his rumoured women, have all been smart (i.e. college educated, a lot with post graduate degrees). That speaks volumes too.

  13. Angelic 21 says:

They were adorable together and real, genuine without any ulterior motives or social climbing which is different and rare for a royal romance. The romantic in me still hopes they would get back together even though I feel she would not make a good royal.

    • Liberty says:

@Angelic 21 The romantic in me feels the same. Maybe she wouldn’t make a good “classic” royal but maybe she would make a very good modern royal. She strikes me as the kind who gets the crazy fun out at the right point in her life, then gets busy with work and good concerns. Maybe I am thinking this, pretending this to myself, because I have friends like that. They were utter partiers, then settled into solid careers and building charity arms. Life happened, time passed, new priorities get their rambunctious enthusiasm. They’re still fun but they can compartmentalize. If you met them in one context, you would not imagine them in their wilder jello shot, band following, ski bum, prankster lives.

      • FLORC says:

I’ve got 2 basic modes. Work mode and play mode.
When someone has only seen me in play mode they’re shocked at my work mode.
I hate it when people try to bring up 1 during the other. With being in the public eye i’d imagine it would have been harder to keep the 2 from bleeding together. I feel for Chelsy with that, but I also enjoy my privacy.

      • Angelic 21 says:

I think she won’t be a good royal because she doesn’t care what people think of her or how she presents herself in public like horrible outfit at royal wedding in 2011 etc and not because she likes to party. As a public figure she have put herself together in a conservative, dignified manner and not look like she just rolled out of bed after all night drinking, be PR savvy (especially being the spare’s wife), care about what media or people think of her etc together with work ethics. And clearly she doesn’t give a tiny rat’s ass what people think of her, or what media writes about her or her appearance for that matter, which is something I really like about her and probably Harry does too but all this makes a very public figure IMO. Imagine her being dressed the way she did at royal wedding while meeting president of USA, it has nothing to do with her partying.

      • LadySlippers says:

Chelsy’s outfit was pulled together last minute. She couldn’t get it tailored or anything. I don’t think she was happy with how she looked.

      • FLORC says:

Why was it last minute? Seems pretty odd that such a publicized wedding caught her off guard unless she pulled a Hathaway at the Oscars deal.
Or that she had nothing in her closet to cover any event. I’m not near her level of wealth and I have a few unworn or once worn looks for various occasions. Mostly because I hate shopping and am too picky. If there’s something I like I buy it and wait until there’s a reason to wear it:)

      • LadySlippers says:

Last minute because Harry and Chelsy were so on and off. Chelsy went as his plus 1 and I think they decided it only days before (maybe a week) before.

      • Liberty says:

I hear what you’re saying Angelic 21, but….her father became ill, she returned to South Africa for a bit during that time, and I’ve read somewhere it made her quieter and perhaps circumspect. Who knows.

She did say it wasn’t a life for her, the whole royal thing, so I know I’m hoping for something that won’t likely happen. I just feel like “awwwww….” when I see the old photos. As to her wardrobe, that can morph and change over the years and hiring a personal stylist is possible for everyone in the public eye. It’s not like Camilla is setting the bar very high, either, and she got in.

      • bluhare says:

LOL, Liberty re Camilla and the high (or lack thereof) bar! She does OK now, although I do concede her need for an industrial strength bra.

      • Liberty says:

@bluhare — yes, she does okay now – but got through the door with only average dressing skills. So, Chelsy or Cressida can blow in too.

Industrial strength bra! My goodness, yes, a wonky bra can make or break almost anyone’s look.

    • bluhare says:

Another romantic here, waving slowly at the ship that’s sailed going over the horizon!

    • Francis says:

Her outfit for the royal wedding wasn’t last minute at all. Go read about it, weeks before Chelsy was seen going in for fittings for the wedding outfit, this was a outfit pick out, by her and fitted with a designer. Chelsy chose that weeks ahead and it was announced early o. That she was invited by Williams pr. She and Harry weren’t dating at the time of the wedding anyway, they were friendly but not dating. Chelsy was invited as a longtime gf, friend but she had months to prepare. I too agree, although a nice, fun, bright lady Chelsy would be too much of a wildcard for royal life. I don’t think she would handle being ordered about by Courtiers very well, I just don’t think she could deal with that sort of thing.

      • LadySlippers says:

I’ve read it was last minute, do have links that state otherwise? I’d love to see them.

    • Francis says:

There were sketches done of Chelsy depicted in the dress done by Albert Feretti, not last minute at all.

      Time Mag.
Prince Harry’s on-and-off girlfriend, Chelsy Davy, has picked Italian designer Alberta Ferretti for both the Westminster Abbey ceremony and dinner reception hosted by Prince Charles. In the morning, Davy will wear a foam green satin dress with a matching silk jacket. The strapless dress has criss-cross details across her dress and falls to her knees. In the evening, she’ll switch into a one-shoulder, blue floor-length gown.

      Harpers Bazaar
We’ve just received sketches from the company depicting the two different Alberta Ferretti dresses Chelsy Davy will be wearing to the Royal Wedding. (We’d previously reported that the designer would be dressing her for the big day.)

The first, for the actual ceremony, will be a bias-cut satin dress in an aqua shade (sketch above right), topped with a silk faille boatneck jacket in the same hue. For the party that night, she’ll don a dark blue silk crepe gown (above left) with a cutout detail. While all eyes are on Kate Middleton, of course, it sounds like some will be wandering Chelsy-ward as well.

This was not last minute at all, sketches done, fitting, etc.
harpers Bazar had earlier reports also as well as many news outlets.

P.s. I actually liked the dresses in sketch but the weird thing is somehow Chelsy managed to look unkempt in it, although I think her figure looked lovely, the satin just didn’t wear well for her on the wedding day. She has a lovely figure but the dresses didn’t make her look classy, although expensive, can’t put my finger on it, but she looked a tad tarty and I like Chelsy, so I was sorry to see that.

      • Francis says:

Chelsy Davy, the South African heiress (and sometime-girlfriend of Prince Harry) will be wearing two dresses (costume change!) “created exclusively for her by Italian designer Alberta Ferretti “, the designer’s rep confirmed to

For the ceremony in Westminster Abbey, she’ll wear an aqua green bias reverse satin short dress with a faille silk jacket of the same color. For Prince Charles’ party in the evening, Davy will change into a one-shoulder midnight blue crepe satin gown with a cutout detail on the back. From the sounds of it, that dress seems to take design and color inspiration from Kate Middleton’s engagement announcement dress by Daniella Helayel of Issa.

  14. mena says:

I guess I’ll go against the grain and say I’m glad these two aren’t together.

For me, Harry & Chelsy are the Royal version of Jude Law & Sienna Miller. It’s fun to reminisce about their wild old times, but in reality, they weren’t in a good relationship. If they had been I think it would’ve worked out for them. There’s a reason it didn’t.

    • LadySlippers says:

I liked them together but I agree, they didn’t work out for a reason. It’s time for us to move on as they obviously have. I can say I’m thrilled they still are friendly with one another — that also speaks volumes.

      • mena says:

        Has Chelsy moved on?

At the Percy Wedding last year, it looked to me like Chelsy was angling for a reunion. She’s still on the periphery of Harry’s party pal set & she’s friends with Cressida’s playboy brother. I’m sure Chelsy still keeps tabs on Harry.

My guess is Chelsy may still work an angle or two on Prince Harry.

      • LadySlippers says:

From what I know, yes, Chelsy has moved on. She’s dated several guys after Harry and continues to look happy in the shots we do see of her. She and Harry are very friendly to each other but I attribute that to how close they were and the maturity both seem to possess post break-up.

Chelsy is still friends with both York princesses and I’d wager she’s friends with Cressida too because as you’ve mentioned — they all loosely hang in the same group. I think both Harry and Chelsy love one another but both have put that aspect of their relationship firmly behind them. I don’t think she or Harry is angling for anything other than being good buds at this point. My guess is they both learned and grew from the relationship and that’s what we all strive for in any relationship.

      • Angelic 21 says:

Well just because someone have started dating other people doesn’t really mean they are still not carrying a torch for an ex or try things differently with an ex again.

      • LadySlippers says:

But Chelsy broke it off with Harry. It was her decision. To me that states quite clearly she doesn’t or isn’t carrying a torch for Harry.

I do think they love and care for one another but both have moved on. They broke up some time ago now.

      • Angelic 21 says:

My impression was that the last time it was a mutual decision. Still even if she did, she haven’t been in a long time serious relationship with anybody else after him. I’ve heard at least 3 different bf with who she broke up after few months of dating just like Harry. So till this date they are each other’s longest relationship.

    • Angelic 21 says:

They are real life Chuck and Blair from Gossip Girl and until and unless 1 of them is officially engaged to someone else, I’ll always root for their reunion. Sometimes right people meet at the wrong time (me and hubby did, I thought he was a pig and only date him if men became endangered species), so the idea if they were right would’ve worked is a very unrealistic idea IMO.

      • bluhare says:

LOL, Angelic. Love your first impression of your husband!!

I wasn’t dazzled by Mr. bluhare at first either.

      • Dame Snarkweek says:

This. At first the future Mr. snark was just the smiling, friendly, gentle guy helping me figure out the karaoke line up at a NYC pub. He was a nice guy but I was distracted and frankly, underwhelmed. But he was not a quitter and thank goodness for that. Within six months we were absolutely inseperable and five years later we are happily married and still, strangely, inseperable. But he was unlike the edgy, tortured genius weirdos I used to fall for. Mr. Snark wears proper pajamas, falls asleep while watching Law& Order reruns and can do the Sunday Times crossword in 45 minutes. But there is a rich, beautiful depth to his character and a child-like wonder about him that still surprises me because I am far more jaded, I guess.
But that old saying is not true – you do have another chance to make a first impression. And sometimes we don’t realize we deserve better until better finally shows up.

      • FLORC says:

I love your accounts of 1st impressions!
        I’m such the opposite.
I met FMORC (Mr. FLORC) at a bar playing pool and he was the most attractive man I had ever laid eyes on. It was lust at 1st sight. Then we fell in love a short time later.

We match perfectly, but are still opposites in many ways. I think that’s how we push eachother to grow.

        Dame Snarkweek
I’m fairly jaded as well. Because of that im always amazed by my husband too.

      • bluhare says:

I met Mr. bluhare in a bar too, FLORC. Only in this case I was in lust with his friend, who was a hot looking Italian guy.

Sir Snark sounds lovely. I too can fall asleep to L&O reruns and I do the NY Times puzzle in pen. Love crosswords. (The pen doesn’t mean there isn’t a whole lot of rewriting sometimes!)

      • Angelic 21 says:

Gr8 to know it wasn’t just me with a bad story to tell my kids of how I met their papa. My hubby thought I was and I quote ”full of herself, stubborn girl with an attitude problem and who thought too highly of herself’, he got the stubborn part correct and all he wanted ‘is to get laid’ again I quote. Our 1st date (which happened almost a year after we initially met and only because I was so bored 1 evening and had nothing else to do) was also horrible. I spilled my drink on myself and instead of helping me, he kept staring at my wet shirt. I didn’t take his call after that and he practically stalked me to a common friend’s party to go on a second date, again because he ‘really wanted to sleep’ with me. I thought he was manner less, rude, obnoxious jerk but now I absolutely love that he is very straight forward, honest and blunt rather then 1 of those guys who says something else and mean something else. Later on when we were discussing what we thought about each other in the beginning, he actually argued why I didn’t like him for starting at my cleavage after all I looked so desirable! His counter argument was that if his imaginary 6 pack abs were on display I would have also started and he would not have minded that.

      • bluhare says:

Angelic, love it! LOL Mr. Angelic, the horn dog!

      • Dame Snarkweek says:

These stories are amazing and really sweet :) i loooove how we met stories – they are poignant, very revealing and often hilarious.
I think the the similarities between people in a relationship are the solid foundation – the strong roots of a tree and the differences are more like the leaves, they add movement, color and interest. So funny you thought your future hubby was a hottie. It took me a month to realize mine had aquamarine eyes, and that is a rare color lol.
I see a common thread among the royal loonies here: our significant others know how to be with strong, intelligent women. Alas, none of us could have made it work with William Baldtop.
Great story! I can imagine you sitting there, fuming with a wet shirt on, glaring across the table lol. Future Mr. snark later fessed up to furtive glances when I wasn’t looking. He knows I would have had more than a mildly negative reaction had he been caught ogling/leering.

      • Dame Snarkweek says:

If you’ve ever auditioned for Jeopardy youand Mr. snark may have been seperated from birth!

      • mayamae says:

@Dame, I love your story. I have heard from many women that they (as a rule) have sex on first dates, and if the sex isn’t great they dump the guy. This doesn’t seem to allow the type of relationship you and your husband built on, and what a shame if you had judged him so harshly that first day.

I’m by no means implying you have a lousy sex life, nor attempting to elicit details of your sex life. I hope you get my point.

      • bluhare says:

They play dirty pat-a-cake, mayamae. It’s sort of gross. ;)

      • Dame Snarkweek says:

Exactly! I was lucky there was something incandescent about his personality that came through. And he is lucky that I wasn’t auditioning for a male co-star but willing to see what would develop. One night stands are perfect for some people or for some situations, I guess, but omg what if you or your partner were drunk, had a bad cold or was upset about something that happened at work? The sex might be terrible and you might decide the person isn’t worth a second chance. A good one might get away, I think.
But, yes, after our first date I knew anyone who would let me explain why Edward II was unfairly maligned in history was probably a keeper, lol.

      • bluhare says:

Snarky, I haven’t auditioned for Jeopardy but I’m a dab hand at it. Trivial Pursuit too. Sir Snark and I should team up especially if he’s good at sports and American anything. My two weak spots.

      • FLORC says:

These stories are great! All of them!
And for the record…When FMORC and I have children I will not being telling them how we met. I fear the moral of the story could too easily be… Find a hot person in a bar and they could be your great love!

        Dame Snarkweek
I love the image you’re giving. And as different as FMORC and I are we have the same core values. Family, hard work, being good to people. If we get miffed with eachother it always works itself out because we’re a family and your can’t break up with family:)

  15. BeckyR says:

I miss seeing Chelsy and Harry together. They looked like they were made for each other. Cressy, not so much.

    • Liberty says:

A friend just said: “Cressida is the type of pink balloon who usually needs to marry a steady quiet banker or barrister who can secure her with long long ribbon so she doesn’t get completely lost when wandering about” — she says she means a dreamer who needs a very steady home base to return to and to allow her to keep safely dreaming, afford her the security to do so.

Is Harry that? I don’t know. Will the palace allow her enough length of ribbon to play? I don’t know.

  16. ZsaZsa says:

Who hasn’t drunk dialed their Ex?

    • bluhare says:

I was going to say me, but if I was drunk I probably don’t remember. :)

      • FLORC says:

I’ve had the ex play the voicemail I left before. Oh that was a revealing and shaming moment for me! Thank goodness we’re friends! Could have been more awkward.

      • bluhare says:

Ohmygawd, FLORC. That would be so embarrassing, she says as she thinks about all the stupid things she ever did while drinking . . . . .)

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

What? He broke the rules, FLORC!
One cannot shame another for their drunken vmails, BUT one DOES have the right to play it over and over for entertainment purposes ;)

I’ve definitely done it before but not in a REALLY long time. Sadly, now I’m more into drunken texting :(

      • FLORC says:

        Lol TOK
He played it, but didn’t shame me. That was all me in utter embarrassment. And I did ask to hear it.
I didn’t realize there were rules!

I later saved him drunkenly singing “away in a manger” while drifting in and out of “mary had a little lamb” on my vmail. So there’s leverage.

      • LAK says:

Virgin mobile used to have a service here in the UK that you could sign up to [at a small cost of course] which allowed you to register upto *5 numbers that were blocked from 11pm to 6am. 11pm is pub closing time. so you’d drunk call whom ever, you’d hear the ringing tone, but no one would pick up whilst on the other end, phone didn’t ring at all.

*Initially, the service simply blocked your phone except for emergency service numbers like 999, but that didn’t work if people needed to ring other numbers, so they updated it to the 5 numbers.

i don’t know why they discontinued it, personally i thought it was a great idea.

      • Liberty says:

I had a client who used to drunk dial me from London and NYC! He would be wahhhhhing about his life and waistline and silly rubbish and I would have to coax him off an emotional ledge and get him back to being jolly! haha I forgot about that until reading this!

      • bluhare says:

That Virgin service was brilliant. Seriously brilliant. I guess people don’t realize they’ll do things drunk before they get drunk if you know what I mean.

      • Dame Snarkweek says:

My stepson drunk texts me and I’ve saved them all. They are hilarious and when I read them to him he groans and covers his face. He gets it from his father. He drunk dials when he’s out with friends. No matter what the topic of conversation he will start every sentence with “No, no, no!”
Me: Are you going to sleep at Matteo’s house tonight?
Him: No, no, no! I’m am going to sleep on Teo’s couch. His couuuuuuch! *sigh*

    • LadySlippers says:

I would LOVE to say ‘not me’. But my nose started itching and was threatening to grow so I’ll fess up and admit my shame. Luckily you don’t get drunk often as you get older so those embarrassing moments can fade with the other crappy memories. Lol

    • Angelic 21 says:

Or said a rude comment on family/social events like a wedding!

  17. Ms. Turtle says:

    Chelsy will be Harry’s Camilla.

    • Liberty says:

    • LadySlippers says:

That’s even a myth for Charles.

      • Liberty says:

        How a myth, pray tell?

      • LadySlippers says:

The whole ‘Charles loved Camilla from the first’ is part of Charles’ PR rehabbing of his image post divorce. Camilla and Charles were strictly a fling in the 70′s and picked back up after she gave birth to her children. Camilla was busy chasing Andrew Parker Bowles during the fling too. HE was who she really wanted. Not Charles.

Charles had several mistresses all throughout his life — even during his marriage to Diana. And people, when asked about his mistresses, described them as a revolving door and he had one in every country (like his great uncle David he also seemed to enjoy being mothered). He might have even fathered a son in ’84 with a Canadian women.

Diana knew about all his mistresses but focused the attention on one — Camilla. Ironically, she became friends with another, Kanga. Camilla ‘won’ simply because she stayed quiet and loyal. And while I don’t doubt they love one another, it’s not the love story we’ve been sold to believe.

YouTube Prince Charles’ Other Mistress. Benedict Cumberbatch narrates it and it shows Charles and Camilla in a much different light.

      • FLORC says:

That’s a story often overlooked, but much more exciting.

      • Angelic 21 says:

Charles was/is a douche bag who was never faithful to either his wife or his mistress. And Cam was a perfect mistress doormat just like Kate(who probably thank her lucky starts that she is wife not mistress) who took him back no matter what or who he did beside her.

      • bluhare says:

Out of curiosity, has anyone heard if Charles has lovers now?

      • Liberty says:

LadySlippers — ah, thanks for that fleshing out of the tale! I didn’t know. And Kanga? Forgot about her. A friend who follows the RF news once told me he was serious for quite a while with a famous opera star as well, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, but i don’t know if that was before or during his marriage to Diana? Was Camilla of her time line, or not?

      • LadySlippers says:

I think Camilla, the opera star, and Kanga were all late 70′s and yes, did overlapp, as did the Canadian women. Which hardly paints the picture of Camilla being his one true love, now does it?

Charles is certainly not a saint. And I’m not fond of slinging mud but he certainly deserves a few mud balls his way.

Harry and Chelsy were very on off but at least Harry doesn’t appear to have a half a dozen women at his beck and call like his father. (In fact the H & C for Hot & Cold the press is using now is actually from Harry and Chelsy NOT Harry and Cressida. Lazy journalism and repeating stories & facts.)

      • Suze says:

Didn’t Kiri sing at his wedding? Wowza, those are some cohones on Prince Charles. No wonder Diana was steaming mad most of their marriage.

      • Liberty says:

LadySlippers — oh my. I just found and dipped into that youtube about Kanga you mentioned, narrated by Cumberbatch. Wow. Just wow. I tippled through it and will have to watch it all this evening. How messy, sad and —- ye gods, Charles, bad show.

      • bluhare says:

Wait a bloody minute!! Charles did Kiri Te Kanawa?????

      • Liberty says:

bluhare, my understanding is yes, they had a quiet little thing for awhile. I asked my friend who recalls all this romantic stuff and she says, emphatically yes.

I could only find a recent photo of them here, in this unfortunately titled DM piece:

    • ZsaZsa says:

I was thinking the same thing that Chesly would become Harry’s camilla.
I wish the press would stop speculating cressy and Harry’s engagement. They haven’t been together that long and are in diffrent stages of their career. I also think that they’d want to live together like Kate and wills did before marriage

  18. Splinter says:

What surprises me the most is how in this hacking case, where they want to punish those who invaded others’ privacy, they keep on revealing more and more private details of the victims of the hacking!

    • bluhare says:

      DISCLAIMER: Horrible comment ahead!

      It’s great, isn’t it?

    • Angelic 21 says:

      I know right!!!

I must say despite my huge dislike of both William and Kate, this trail is making me give them some break over their media paranoia. Now if they start working and less vacationing, I might start to tolerate them again.

    • Liberty says:

Splinter, bluhare, Angelic 21 — I know, right? We’re all enjoying silly bits from it, but at the same time it seems strange to be watching a court/legal body saying, basically, “don’t do THIS (does it) and rude to listen to THIS (listens) and terrible that the public should have heard you say THIS AND THIS AND THAT (splooges it out to us and then some).”

  19. itsetsyou says:

Still wonder if what they say is true that Chelsy quit the relationship because she simply didn’t want the life of a royal.

    • LadySlippers says:

I think the reality isn’t quite that simple. They were on and off A LOT which means they weren’t that stable even while dating. My guess it was several things that made their relationship falter — not any one thing.

    • Angelic 21 says:

I agree with you. Everybody is jumping all over saying Cressida obviously wants a title because she apparently decided not to pursue dance professionally (which is again something she might not want to do in the first place) but on the same breath say Chelsy didn’t even thought she moved to another country for him, tolerated mostly very harsh, negative media attention on both herself and her family for a man she never intended to have a future with. please!!!!!!! For them to be together for almost 8 years and her to tolerate so much because of him, I think she was at least, at the minimum Okay with royal life and duties. IMVHO things just didn’t workout between them and she moved on, I don’t believe it has anything to do with being a royal. Sometimes relationship just doesn’t work out simply put.

      • claire says:

This comment isn’t to you in particular, but the fact people keep bringing up a dance career. As if Cress really had one to begin with.

Many professional dancers begin working after high school. Some even earlier. At the very latest after undergrad, but serious dancers tend to begin working as soon as possible. She’s 24 or 25? At this age, she should be seasoned and in her prime after working for years. Not debating on whether to even begin. There’s a reason pro ballerinas over 35 aren’t common.

She studied at the royal ballet, and yet didn’t take a job with them. Perhaps she isn’t talented enough. No ballet dancer waits this late into their life to begin a pro career. It’s possible she went on to get an advanced degree because, “those who can’t do, teach.” But to make it sound as if she’s giving up the possibility of ever becoming a soloist or prima is false. The time for taking center stage has passed already.

  20. Amy Tennant says:

I like seeing these pictures. I always liked Chelsy. However, I don’t mind Cressy either. I tend to think Chelsy was smart to get out of the situation. I would hate to see her get the Fergie treatment. You’re great fun and a breath of fresh air, until you’re too much fun and now they hate you because you won’t behave.

  21. Maggie says:

That girl is homely. Looks arent everything. Perhaps she was fun for awhile.

    • bluhare says:

      Gawd, Maggie. You’re just jealous! And a prig! That’s it . . . a jealous prig!

      I enjoyed that.

      • Maggie says:

      • bluhare says:

Apparently you didn’t read the exchange Suze and I had yesterday where we encouraged you to do more than post and run and I said I was looking forward to getting back at you for the jealous prig comments. I thought your comment was the opening salvo. It’s called fun, Maggie. You might try it sometime.

Until then, enjoy. I will now go back to ignoring you.

      • Maggie says:

Oh I read it. Not my idea of fun…….arguing with a bunch of prigs. I’d rather get drunk with Harry!

      • Suze says:

Maggie – We would all rather get drunk with Harry but that option is not open to us, and I don’t it’s open to you. Unless, of course, there’s something you’re not telling us. In that case, sit down and dish.

And why do you even pop in here if the jealous prigs are such a burden to you? Hmmm? I think you miss us.

But have it your way. From now on I will just gloss over your posts as if they aren’t there.

      • bluhare says:

I think she’s jealous, Suze. We have a good time here.

      • Dame Snarkweek says:

        Oh Maggie
We could have more of a laugh if you joined in. We are a harmless bunch. But if not, at least refrain from name calling. Too much to ask?
You always make me lol. And I think your response was classy. Well, classy for a jealous prick, that is.

      • bluhare says:

Prig, Snarky, prig!! Thank you though. Some things aren’t worth the trouble, are they.

      • My2Pence says:

I always thought Chelsy was cute, not beautiful, but cute and lively.

And I’m sure there should be something in this you’re-just-unattractive-jealous-prigs-post-and-run bit about cats…

      • Maggie says:

        LMAO! Prick?? For shame Dame!

Suze no one said you were a burden. I’m simply stating my opinion. And I never called any of you by name saying you were a prig. You recognized yourselves in my comment so in actuality you called yourselves prigs?

      • Dame Snarkweek says:

Oh, right, prig. Lol, thanks :)
Its only trouble if you frame it that way. Orrrrr…you could choose to see it as smart, strong, sometimes snarky royal loonies on a passing a few fun hours a week gossiping. You’re pretty sharp yourself. Just touchy, imo. I hope I haven’t been offensive here.

      • Suze says:

        Did someone post a comment ; )?

I was busy attending a Legion of Decency and Priggishness meeting – may have missed something.

        Oh well.

  22. Andrea says:

LOL Am I the only one laughing how he’d rather be at Jordan/Peter Andre’s wedding?

I like Chelsy a lot more over Cressida. I hope he doesn’t marry her!

  23. Dame Snarkweek says:

Harry would drunk dial Cressy if she allowed him to drink.

  24. My2Pence says:

Bringing this over in case the St. Patrick’s Day thread has been abandoned.

    Meanwhile in Imperial news:

The £20m Fabergé egg that was almost sold for scrap
A scrap metal dealer bought an ornament to be melted down for its gold – until he read a Telegraph article revealing it to be a £20 million Fabergé egg

Apparently the sale price would surprise art history major Kate Middleton, who was recorded asking HM if Fabergé was still making eggs. I’m amazed HM didn’t swat her with that big handbag of hers in frustration.

  25. Francis says:

Look at Chelsys press during the years she dated Harry, she was not popular , her press was quite negative, which was another reason she hated royal life. Kate was portrayed as the good girl and Chelsy as the bad, party girl ,the press hated Chelsy. Also I gather the Palace was sort of relieved when it petered out with Harry and Chelsy, they didn’t like the political aspects of her. The Palace didn’t want to go through explaining the whole Mugabee, dictator connection to Chelsys dad.
Also Chelsy played games at times There was a lot of fighting I. That relationship, she would up and break up with the slightest new Harry perceived offense and yes some well Several were real, he was said to have looked around a bit , but some were small things like he couldn’t get a certain time off to go traveling with her. It was a young love that petered out and if she’s his Camilla,, than she’s definitely not as bright as implied. Why would Chelsy be considered smart to take a guy back who she claims cheated on her?
Also Cressida went to the same University as Chelsy and has a degree, Cressida is also a very educated lady. People study what interests them, why should she go into a field that does not interest her, to prove something? I just don’t get people who say Chelsy is somehow better because she studied law, IMO she studied what interested her,Just as Cressida did. Different strokes for different folks, if University was a place where the only respect goes to people with a law degree than what’s the point of having varying studies ,instead just stop all other degrees and make everyone in the world who goes to University take law classes . Let’s just have one University system of lawyers and nothing else. I just don’t get putting down this educated lady Cressida, who spent four years earning a degree in the arts ,for dance from the same University .
Chelsy wasn’t even popular when she and Harry dated, many people in forums couldn’t stand her and that’s the truth, it was always how wonderful Kate was and how bad Chelsy was.
I think Harry has better taste in women that William ,IMO both Chelsy and Cressida are better than Kate, both ladies seem authentic, they are who they are. Whatever both women do, they at least seem real.
If this is about Harry picking someone of a different background or not from his circle, forget it, Harry doesn’t work like that. He is a wild Prince but in his romantic life he keeps it close to a certain circle. He has to live with whomever he marries, it’s his choice in the end.

    • bluhare says:

I keep forgetting about Chelsy’s father’s Mugabwe connection. Although I hate blaming people for the sins of the fathers and all that. But when you’re in their position I guess it counts.

    • LadySlippers says:

People forget that Chelsy was not treated well by the press at all. So they see the press being nice to Cressida and assume it’s because she’s an aristo. I think the press will turn on Cressida soon enough — aristo or not.

      • Francis says:

The press hasn’t exactly been all nice to Cressida either, they splash her private photos all over news stories, they bash her mother constantly over previous marriages, the way they bashed Chelsy ,over her fathers supposed Mugabe connection.
But those who suddenly find this new liking of Chelsy are possibly many of the same who couldn’t stand her when she dated Harry. Chelsys private party photos ,looking wasted photos , bum crack showing photos, were being pulled up by some to explain how they thought she was not an appropriate choice and posted on old forums by some of the same tumblers who now proclaim a new love for all things Chelsy.

    • We Are All Made of Stars says:

Preach. +1,000 to everything you said. I love how people have this selective memory and forget that Chelsea was decried as a dirty, piggy party-girl, as if Harry was so straight-laced. Hell, half the people pining over her right now were probably giving it to her back in the day. And thank you for countering the class and lawyer worship with good sense. It takes all kinds to make the world go round, and quite frankly, I think we could do with a few less lawyers and a lot less lawyer/corporate worship.

  26. Suze says:

Chelsy, a smart, ambitious, happy, good time party woman! All rolled into one.

She’s too smart and too HERSELF to ever be a happy royal (if there is such a thing, who knows).

    She dodged a bullet.

    • bluhare says:

You’re right as usual, Suze. She probably did dodge a bullet. A hot, scampy ginger bullet. Le sigh.

      • Denise says:

No guy is worth the de-humanization process you have to go through when you become a part of the royal family.
