Liz Hurley & Shane Warne, the couple of the century, probably broke up: nooo!

I have some bad news, you guys. It seems like The Couple of the Century might have broken up!!! Elizabeth Hurley and Shane Warne might have split up. I think it’s happening mostly because these breakup rumors have been percolating for a few days and Liz and Shane have yet to deny them or push back in any way. Plus, Shane is in Australia right now and Liz is in England and it doesn’t sound like they have any plans to physically reunite any time soon. NOOOoo!!!

Liz and Shane got together in late 2010, when Liz was still very much married and Shane was… sort of married, but openly fooling around with anyone and everyone. When they got together, Shane was a pudgy Aussie bloke who seemed very sports-oriented and unsophisticated. Liz remade him into some plucked, tucked, Botoxed Ken Doll Escort and their love grew and grew. But now it might be over.

One last tweet is expected from cricket legend Shane Warne and model Liz Hurley – confirming that they have split up.

The couple, who announced the end of their previous relationships and their engagement to each other on the social network, have not tweeted each other for nearly three weeks.

Warne is currently home in Australia with his family. Hurley is in the UK.

The Mirror spoke to both of their agents about the rift but neither commented on the story, also picked up by Australian media.

The spin bowler, who celebrated his 44th birthday last week, thanked friends and family on Twitter but notably didn’t mention Hurley.

And a few days before, Warne posted the cryptic tweet: “It’s not what happens in your life, it’s how you react to what life throws at u, in both the good & bad times.”
Hurley also posted a similarly cryptic tweet that raised eyebrows.

Posting a picture of her dog, she said: “The more I know of man, the more I love my dog. Goodnight from me and Raja.”

Instead of wishing the bowler a happy birthday, Hurley tweeted about how she had “just spent an hour fixing the alpaca fence”.

Warne’s last tweet to the 47-year-old model was on August 30, in which he apparently made plans to spend a day at the races with her.

The couple split briefly in 2011. They were first linked in December 2010, after being spotted kissing outside a London restaurant.

Hurley announced her marriage to Indian businessman Arun Nayar was over.

Warne revealed on Twitter he and wife Simone had separated.

In 2011, it was reported they were engaged, which they confirmed via Twitter.

[From The Mirror]

They haven’t tweeted each other in three weeks? She didn’t send him a tweet for his birthday? Yes, they are over. Although I do think it’s interesting that everyone agrees that they split up briefly back in 2011 – this couple is made up of two very high-maintenance people. Both are drama queens, to a certain extent. This is what happens when the joy and drama leaves a relationship. Maybe this will work as the needed “drama” to bring them back together, or maybe it’s just completely over. All I know is that we need to all mark our calendars: September 17th is the day True Love died.

And yet, the sun rose this morning….

  3. Badirene says:

Knightsbridge Barbie and Outback Ken need to be together forever! But with so much botox in play we will never be able to tell how they really feel about each other.

  4. Sixer says:

Wow. So much cricket around here today. I like cricket. I think they split forever ago (not that I remembered they were even together) because he’s been back to his funny/obnoxious, podgy self all through the Ashes this summer. I remarked on it several times during the endless coverage blaring out on every TV in the house.

  5. The Wizz says:

Noooooooooooo. Actually Warnie has been sending me sext messages so I’m not surprised.

  6. Guesto says:

Noooo!!! These were my absolute favourite most unlikely couple ever!

  7. T.fanty says:

You think he’ll get fat and masculine again?

  8. Jegede says:

IMO anytime a couple is engaged for longer than 2 years; a split is almost the order of the day!

It does not take much to go to a Justice of the Peace to get it done, IF YOU REALLY WISH TO, and if you don’t want the brouhaha of a wedding.

I will be surprised if Brad/Angie, Jen/Justin, Kate/Matt, Dax/Kristen and pretty much long term engaged couples e.t.c make it down the aisle.

    • The Wizz says:

I’ve been engaged for 6 yrs and whilst I have no interest in walking down the aisle (I’ve been unhappily married before) I certainly aren’t planning to split from the father of my two kids anytime soon.

      • Maureen says:

is it wrong of me to ask the obvious, out of curiosity? If you don’t want/plan to get married then why are you engaged? I’m genuinely curious because a lot of people do this, don’t they?

      • Jegede says:

As in my first word – My Opinion.

Second my post referenced celebrities on CELEB-itchy.

And I know many people for whom the situation is reverse from yours (although there are no children in the equation) who remained engaged for aeons, break up and proceed to marry the next person they were engaged to for 6 months

      • The Wizz says:

Hi Maureen, we were always planning on getting married, heading off to Vegas (were in Australia) but decided to spend the cash elsewhere (buying a house, then starting a business, having another kid) perhaps one day we’ll do it if I can be tempted, although everyone I know who gets married after having kids, etc, ends up separating after a really short time so maybe not!

      • MademoiselleRose says:

I’ve been engaged for 20 years. I got engaged and planned the wedding then realised it was going to cost and arm and a leg and decided the money was better on the mortgage. My partner had been married before and had zero interest in doing it again and we never had kids so it didn’t seem necessary.

PS: Wouldn’t have thought CB would have known who Shane Warne is … am surprised by this post. Don’t think too many people will care they’ve broken up, I sure don’t like either one of them.

      • bluhare says:

Maybe I’m just dense, long time engaged people, but why stay “engaged” if you aren’t going to get married? I know you both say other things came up but both of you say one of you doesn’t want to get married, which is the point of being engaged, right?

No shade intended at all. I just don’t understand. :(

      • Maureen says:

That was my exact question. I was trying to be tactful, but I didn’t quite get an answer. I guess this is meant to be a mystery, like the riddle of the Sphinx.

      • The Wizz says:

Hey, we personally stay engaged, because why not? Why change whats working for us? Actually we refer to each other as husband and wife, not as fiancé, and I LOVE my engagement ring. Staying engaged is still a sign of commitment above just being in a relationship, and if we ever fall arse backward into a bucket of money we may still decide to go ahead with the ceremony….if we can’t find anything else to spend the money on.
With the way our business is structured corporately, we’re way more legally bound to each other through that than through any marriage certificate anyway.

  9. Hmm says:

Why is it that celebrities tend to adopt an attitude or air of snobbery as if they are royalty? I get this feeling from Liz Hurley and AngieJo, Maniston, etcetc. They are merely rich people who happen to be in films, and many of them are poorly educated/high school dropouts, so why is it that we should treat them as if they’re the queen of fvking England? It’s infuriating.

  10. gillociraptor says:

First Liam and Miley, now Liz and Shane. Twitter killed true love.

  11. brin says:

Noooo,,,my favorite plastic couple, the horror!! *crying fake tears*

  12. Maureen says:

It’s weird what she strong-armed Warne into doing with his face yet SHE looks totally natural and aging gracefully. Like her or not, she does look natural. But that guy….I just would never be able to get past that face even if he had the greatest personality in the world.

    • mercy says:

It’s the difference between good work (hers) and bad (his). She was good looking before, too, though she looked different pre-Hugh Grant. He never was a looker.

  13. Sarah says:

    Ick.. These two!

  14. eliza says:

What adult couple, with an ounce of maturity communicates via Twitter? How sad that Twitter is now where people go to find out information and to communicate. Sad state we are in as a society.

  15. Caz says:

Simone Warne is high-fiving with her friends and doing the happy dance as we speak.

Does any intelligent rational woman actually find Warnie attractive?

  16. Cazzee says:

    I blame the Botox.

How can someone look at you with an expression of love and affection if they have a frozen face?

Relationships are hard enough as it is – when you remove your ability to express emotion through your face, and therefore shut down that avenue of communication between you and your partner, I really think that might put some couples over the edge.

    • fingerbinger says:

How can a grown man in his 40′s think having a cat face is attractive? He must have really been in love even if no one could tell.

  17. Shelley says:

I just cannot handle his face. Liz will forever be beautiful though. Her and Hugh were a gorgeous couple.

  18. smee says:

He looks completely fake – reminds me of a Thunderbird!

  19. QQ says:

I for One am BEREFT Motherf—ers!! This man’s Face of Love became what i too aspired too, a Plastic, overgroomed pulled and tucked love like theirs!… these tears i’ll be crying in this corner , Yo!

  20. Ag says:

Nooooo! They were so perfectly plasticky together!

  21. Maritza says:

He morphed to what she wanted him to be, I guess once her project was finished she got bored with him.

  22. Madriani's Girl says:

I can’t stand her because she has zero morals but she is so gorgeous. I don’t know if she’s had anything done or not – bottom line is she kills girls half her age. Wow.

  23. Andrea says:

This guy looked weird once he started dating Liz. Liz is one of those people who will always love Hugh Grant and never truly get over him.

  24. BizziLizzi says:

I remember the good old days when Warnie was just about the hottest guy ever (in cricket). Then came the fame and sexting and Liz Hurley. Can’t believe how he looks now. If they have broken up I can’t wait for him to go back to the Aussie F*ck up he was, that was so entertaining.

  25. raincoaster says:

Well I for one wish she’d get back with her ex-husband, but I’m only saying that because she looks damn ravishing in a sari.
