Duchess Kate repeats a coat for her first appearance in weeks: pretty & bumpy?

Sigh… I really don’t understand why Kate insists on wearing repeats for her meager public works when we KNOW she’s been shopping like crazy for the past few months, and we know she’s got a closet full of clothes we’ve never seen. These are photos of Kate today in Grimsby, England, where she was making several appearances on behalf of several different projects and stuff. Kate repeated this 2011 Hobbs coat, which we saw her in last year (and I think one other time besides that too). The coat is burgundy-brown, and that little belt is part of the coat, although Kate seems to have raised the belt to accommodate her tiny little baby bump. The coat was purchased by Kate last year, on sale for £182.

People are already talking about how she’s barely put on any pregnancy weight. If anything, she looks smaller to me here than she did during her one charitable appearance in February. Maybe the coat is just super-flattering, I guess. Also: Look at her un-sausage curled hair!!! Is that because of the fog and general dampness, or is Kate experimenting with a new look that doesn’t involve giant sausage curls hanging down in her face? Incidentally, fog was the excuse used when Kate showed up an hour and a half late.

Kate finally arrived in Grimsby an hour and a half late – looking tanned from her recent holidays in Mustique and Switzerland – and wearing a Hobbs coat and a Great Plains dress. She has worn the russet-coloured coat several times before including on a working trip to Liverpool and for Christmas with the Queen at Sandringham.

The Duchess’s first port of call was the National Fishing Heritage Centre, which depicts the 1950s heyday of Grimsby’s distant water fishing fleet. Her baby bump was barely visible under her Hobbs coat and Great Plains dress as she was greeted by jubilant, flag-waving crowds chanting: ‘We want Kate.’

She arrived at the town’s National Fishing Heritage Centre at 12.45pm for her first of three engagements today.

A Palace official said her helicopter, which took off at around 11am from Kensington Palace, landed at Humberside Airport an hour and a half later than expected due to fog but Kate will complete her visit as planned. Kate is on what the palace call a ‘royal away day’ in north east Lincolnshire – a chance to cram in as many engagements in possible in a particular area of the country.

Asked why Grimsby, a St James’s Palace spokesman said: ‘Why not? The town has been keen for the Duchess to come for some time. She is delighted.’

Built in 1991 by the borough council, the museum is an extraordinarily realistic recreation of the time when Grimsby could lay claim to being the largest fishing port in the world. The centrepiece of the exhibition is Perseverance, one of the town’s oldest shrimp boats which has been restored to her original colours. There are also several life-sized models bringing to life different aspects of the fishing industry including the inside of a trawler and even a local pub called the Freeman’s Arms which Kate briefly walked through.

The real Freeman’s Arms was a favourite haunt of trawlermen returning to shore but became notorious for brawling and prostitution. Many of the themed areas have a distinctive smell piped into them – the stench of a working dock and the more mouth-watering scent of freshly-frying fish and chips.

The Duchess was given a guided tour of the exhibitions and sat down at the skipper’s table next to a rather eerie life-sized model figure of a 1950′s ship’s mate to chat to trawlerman John Vincent, a guide at the centre.

The Duchess will learn more about Grimsby’s maritime and fishing heritage and have the opportunity to discuss issues around the environmental sustainability of fishing in the North Sea – one of her father-in-law, Prince Charles’s, pet projects.

[From The Mail]

Sure. I don’t have any problems with this. This is what she should have been doing more of for the past two years. Although I think it’s funny that reporters were like, “Uh, why are you sending Kate to this tiny little fishing town? Is she being punished?” And St. James Palace was like, “Royals go to these little towns all the time, STFU!”

Also: one of Kate’s admirers asked her if the baby had been moving or kicking, and she replied, “Yes, it is. Very much so.”

Bumpy? I can show you a bump and that ain’t it.

  2. trudiebell says:

Gah I’m only a few weeks ahead of her and I look like I have a watermelon strapped to my front and I’m watching what I eat and exercising. F’ing royals.

    • Ailine says:

She’s tall so maybe that’s the difference?

    • Canda says:

It’s unfair that women carry differently, but a girl I knew recently had one of those “I didn’t know I was pregnant” moments and wasn’t showing at all by 9 months… now, she’s kind of dumpy, so the baby might have been visible on a thinner woman, but she obviously carried very far back/high up. Maybe Kate is like that?

    • aud says:

yeah it’s partially her height :(

being petite and pregnant is horrible lol

I’m petite and 36 weeks. I feel like I’m going to give birth to Michael Jordan. I can barely sit up because I have feet jammed into my ribs.

We just don’t have the abdominal space for this. Kate is so darn lucky to be tall

      • Dani says:

Not necessarily her height; I’m 5’8” and was 125 lbs before I got pregnant. I’m 13 weeks now and already showing a pretty decently sized bump. I have HG as well, unfortunately mine seems like it’ll last all pregnancy, but I’m still showing a lot.

    • Gemini08 says:

Well if it makes you feel any better Kate has basically had an eating disorder since she got engaged. The woman barely eats! This is why her bump is so small.

      • Emma says:

I know I’m going to get jumped on for defending her, but how do you know she actually has an eating disorder? A friend of mine ate well, exercised throughout her pregnancy and has a long torso and most days her baby bump was smaller than my not pregnant tummy! I feel that Catherine is certainly very image conscious, but it’s a bridge too far to say she has an eating disorder.

      • bluhare says:

Emma: You won’t get jumped on by me. I don’t think she does either.

      • Jaxx says:

The woman barely eats? Do you know Kate personally? Exactly what facts are you basing your opinion on?

I doubt seriously the Royal Infant is being undernourished. Her doctors would not stand for it, much less all the others watching out for her.

A lot of women use pregnancy as an excuse to eat all they want so they are not a good example to demonstrate proper weight gain. The baby is still very small at this point and if a woman is eating properly and exercising very little extra weight will be gained, if any.

I gained 25 lbs when pregnant. Seventeen pounds came off with delivery so that left eight pounds of fat I had to lose. Nursing took it off quickly, but it was still excess. Many women gain 45-50 pounds these days. Do the math and figure out how much of that is excess fat. Kate is clearly not going to be one of those who pack it on. Don’t expect her pregnancy to look like Jessica Simpson’s.

      • Sarah says:

It’s her first baby, and she’s what, 22 weeks? A lot of women aren’t really “showing” or gaining much weight at that point!

      • candice says:

        Jaxx -
I think Gemini08 is referring to the painfully obvious fact that Kate looks a lot different than she used to due to drastic, extreme weight loss. She used to be healthy and quite slim, but became severely thin just prior to her wedding.

      • sarah says:

Jaxx, youre weight gain in pregnancy is a lot more than just the baby. Women, depending on their size, their weight at the beginning of their pregnancy can gain anywhere from 15 to 40 pounds. I am 5’2″ and when I got pregnant, due to stress and what have you, I only weighed 95 pounds, I gained 40 pounds to be healthy for the baby. here is the distribution of weight gain. for a pregnancy
        Pregnancy Weight Gain: Average Distribution
•7 1/2 pounds is about how much the baby will weigh by the end of pregnancy.
•1 1/2 pounds is how much the placenta weighs.
•4 pounds is attributed to increased fluid volume.
•2 pounds is the weight of the uterus.
•2 pounds is the weight of breast tissue.
•4 pounds is because of increased blood volume.
•7 pounds is attributed to maternal stores of fat, protein and other nutrients.
•2 pounds for the amniotic fluid.
        •Total: 30 pounds

its not just a 7 pound baby, some amniotic fluid and the rest is fat.

      • jess says:

LOL @ 2 pounds breast weight. I’m 22 weeks tomorrow and gained at least 2 cup sizes. I went from a 34C to a 38D (my ribs really didn’t grow noticeably bigger, it’s just comfier lol) in the first 2 months of my pregnancy. These suckers are not fun! haha

      • sarah says:

Brag it up Jess! I went from an AA to an A and back to an AA. Life is unfair sometimes!

      • Turtle Dove says:

You obviously don’t work out. If you did, you’d realize that she would never be able to have the muscle mass that she does without eating.

She obviously eats and eats well.

      • jess says:

haha Sarah! My back sure isn’t excited about it!

    • Cece says:

It’s her first kid and she probably has a muscular stomach, so the lack of much of a bump is not too unusual. I didn’t show until 6 months the first time. I think I showed at 6 minutes the third time!!!

      • trudiebell says:

Lol it’s my first too and I was running 5miles a day 5x a week and doing a rigorous yoga schedule pre-pregnancy. It’s probably the height issue 5 pounds on a 5’2″ woman looks a lot more than 5 pounds on one who is 5’8″

      • Jaxx says:

A muscular stomach indeed hides a lot! I shocked even my doctor at how big my baby was. I had done regular situps throughout and before my pregnancy. My doctor was worried my baby would not weigh five pounds and would have to go into the premie nursery. Imagine his shock when she weighed 6 pounds and 12 ounces. He swore to me that he had no idea where I was hiding that baby because my outer measurements did not calculate that big a baby. (Small for todays birth weights, but normal back then)

Another wonderful side effect of the muscular stomach? Mine snapped back flat immediately. The nurses in the hospital were all clucking how flat my stomach was right after birth. Most usually have a four month bump at that point.

Exercise indeed do a body good!

    • Addison says:

Yeah, well I bet I have a larger bump than you and I am not even pregnant so there’s that.

One day at work the refrigerator was packed. No room for my lunch. I commented this to someone else and she said it was for the baby shower. I was like baby shower? Turns out someone was pregnant and she was barely showing. She did finally seem pregnant in her last monh before her maternity leave.

  3. Azurea says:

I’m not a fan, but she looks wonderful here. The hair is so much improved!

    • Alexandra Bananarama says:

The extra weight in her face and removing some hair weaves really makes her more attractive.

She has that kind of face that when you lose weight you age harshly. She looks younger now.

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

Her hair looks almost identical to mine and I was just thinking this morning how boring my hair is now (I just cut about 4 inches off).

Her hair is nice and healthy but that style is so…meh. (I’m allowed to say so cuz I have the same hair ;) ) I also have a round-shaped face that looks older when I lose weight so overall, I feel her pain!

  4. LAK says:

I see the wiglet is back!!!

    • GoodCapon says:

How do you knoooow Lady LAK?

Her hair looks a lot better without the Goldilocks curls though.

      • LAK says:

Duchess capon – once you see the wiglet, you can’t unsee it when she has it on.

        1. It’s best seen in picture 3 on the right side of her head. For whatever reason, wiglet is never properly blended on that side compared to the left or the back. If you look at the top of the part in her hair, the wiglet is slightly raised. The line of it travels down along her own hair to the right of the picture. Wiglet is a few inches shorter than her own hair on both sides which adds volume. The longer hair is her own.

        2. If you go look at her engagement from Hope House a fortnight ago (between Mustique and Switzerland), the wiglet isn’t being used. Her hair doesn’t have the line or the thickness it is showing above. That was all her own hair.

      • emmie_a says:

LAK: Just my opinion but I don’t think her hair has been all her own for quite some time. She still had something added at Hope House – if not a wiglet then extensions or something to add more hair to her head. If you look at pictures of her ‘before’, her hair was very much like Pippa’s – normal thickness and not a mop-head. Now it’s incredibly thick and voluminous all the time. She’s definitely using something to add extra hair.

      • bluhare says:

I just went back and looked. You’re right. Once you see it, you can’t unsee it. And now she’s not doing the curls, I think she should cut a couple of inches off her hair.

But she looks really good. Pregnancy suits her.

EDIT: DM has a photo where you can really see it. She’s bending over to talk to someone.

      • LAK says:

Baroness/Duchess: OMG, those DM pics are showcasing the wiglet. It’s so obvious. You can see it from all sides.

Duchess: look at the top of her head on the parting, about midway and see the line that travels from the top to the ends. THAT is the wiglet. The line is the separation between her own hair and the wiglet that hasn’t quite blended properly.

      • Jaxx says:

I have a different interpretation of the pictures. It might be a hair piece, but I doubt that because, though you can match color well with hair pieces, you usually can’t match texture. I don’t see a bit of difference in any of the texture of Kate’s hair.

However, I have hair her length and I sometimes tease it on top to give myself some height. I don’t do this when I’ll be outside, especially if there is wind. The reason is exactly what has happened to Kate’s hair. I get parting and separation in the ratted section from the rest of my hair.

My vote is no hair piece and lots of teasing for height.

    • Christin says:

Her very dark roots are showing, too. Not a big deal, but if I only had one public appearance every couple of weeks (or months!) and invested hours for those blowouts*, I’d have my roots done with a natural color product just before the event.

      * I have always suspected that her multi-hour hair “blowouts” are a code for whatever else is affixed to give her much more volume. My hair is naturally wavy like hers, and I can be sleek via blowout in under 30 minutes.

    • Dena says:

For some insane reason I cannot stop laughing at the word wiglet. It’s just a little wig, after all. Oooh. There it goes again.

@LAK – You truly add value. Thank you.

  5. janie says:

I think she’s adorable! I love her style.. She is classy & so gorgeous. She knows how to do pregnancy. I wish them both a healthy baby!

  6. elkiddo says:

    I bet it’s a boy

  7. Reece says:

Most of her weight is in her face and every where else. Like Kim K. LOL
Except on Kate it looks a hell of a lot better!

    • Reece says:

To add: Babies don’t start getting really “big” til the 3rd trimester. First six months is mostly development and last 2-3 are weight. So she’s not at the point of outright bumpiness yet.
Plus first pregnancies don’t show as much. The next one her body will remember and she’ll pop out earlier.

    • Eleonor says:

Duchess Kate was painfully thin, from the start of course she looks better! And I bet not having injected in your butt godknowswhat might help mainting a lovely figure.

      • Reece says:

Well I was specifically talking pregnancy weight. They’re both gaining everywhere but their stomach atm.
Although there are lots of people who think Kate has had more done than hair extensions and teeth put in.

      • Belle says:

I agree they are both gaining everywhere (in Kate’s case, it is much needed though), but there have been some photos that show Kate with an obvious bump…. it was a dress, though I can’t remember which one. I think the coat is really making it harder to see it here.

  8. Nanz01 says:

Gawd, some women look so great pregnant. I did not. At least, from 5 months on, I looked tired, heavy, and uncomfortable because I WAS. I have to remember though that even small-framed women get uncomfortable because they are “heavier” than what they’re used to. I know she’s not popular on this site, but I can’t help but kind of like her. I guess it’s because I don’t really expect her to work or do anything earth-moving. I just expect her to wear fabulous clothes and jewelry as she looks down upon the commoners.

    Kate looks great.

    • ANGELIC 20 says:

if you will have nothing else to do other then look good, shop, exercise with all the money in this world and no tension to pay the bills at the end of the month you will also look great and put together ,so don’t be so hard on yourself.

      • emmie_a says:

Couldn’t agree more Angelic 20!! Kate doesn’t want to do any type of *work* because she puts all of her time and effort into her appearance – she doesn’t have time to work.

      • Gemini08 says:

Amen sister. People need to stop comparing themselves to celebs and royals. They have all the money and time in the world to look fabulous- with none of the stress of working 9 to 5 and paying bills.

  9. JulieM says:

She looks nice; she always looks presentable. At some point she’s going to start showing in a big way; seemingly over night.

None of this takes away from her lazy, entitled nature. Too bad, she really could have turned her waity image around after the wedding. She obviously had no interest in doing so. Is it too late?

    • ANGELIC 20 says:

i agree ,even the comments on most royalist paper dm are negative and all top rated. the wedding could have been a turning point for her but now she is too late.

    • Faye says:

Once the baby comes, she’ll be doing even less. Mark my words — she’ll be too busy “taking care of the baby” (because no nannies, right? *eye roll*)

      • Alexandra Bananarama says:

        Sachi I disagree.

She will never have empathy for peoples suffering. She’s like Kim K in the way that she’ll visit people who endure hardships and it might bring a tear to her eye, but she will leave and forget all about them.

The visit will only serve as lip service. She would have to have both Carol and William forcing her to change her mindset and that will never happen.

It’s too late for her to grow a heart and find a passion in something other than herself.

      • Sachi says:

Alexandra – I think it’s too late for her to have some empathy, but not too late to turn over her image. Even Camilla, who used to get death and horrible things wished upon her, has managed to mellow out a lot of people.

I really hope that Kate changes soon and gets bitten by reality, because right now she’s basically nothing but a robot who must always be told what to do. She comes across as empty and to be honest, a bit brainless.

Carole is the Captain of the Kate ship and William is First Mate. Sometimes, in a truly creepy scenario, I wonder if Carole and William likes Kate to be kept this way? You know, unable to speak her mind and stand up for herself? Easier to control her and let her stay as a doormat.

It will take something really, really serious for her and William to shape up. As bad as it sounds, it probably will be the Queen’s passing that might just wake up the two out of their laziness and over-indulgence.

      • Alexandra Bananarama says:

Oops! Didn’t realize i posted in the above comment. Sachi, are expectations are so low her image can only go up.

Her and William’s image could get a rehab, but i’m extremely sceptical.

Do you remember when it was reported that Kate stood up to Will and told him to stop cheating on her because it was embarrassing? He broke up with her and said because of who he is he can do whatever he wants. I’m sure he likes her that submissive way. Also, their body language says he is in charge and she’s only looking for his approval.

      • Sachi says:

        Alexandra – we’ve hijacked Faye’s post. Apologies. :D

Yes, I read about that one, something about William yelling, “Don’t you know who I am? I can do what I want!” Since then I doubt Kate ever questioned William. IMO she stopped growing as a person when she started dating him. Must be tough dealing with a control-freak like William.

Doesn’t help that her mother probably whispers in her ear that she should turn a blind eye to William’s ego and issues and just focus on the ring.

In the end, Kate is the “biggest loser” here since she doesn’t have enough experience on how to deal with people/situations outside of her cozy little bubble. She just doesn’t know how to function outside of her aristo-wealthy people world, and that’s why she can’t connect with people whose lives are different from hers ie. most of the public.

Did you see that video of her asking William if he was singing the National Anthem? Not participating in the National Anthem is acceptable, but to turn to the person beside you and tease him while the Anthem is being played? Completely childish. And this happened in 2011 only. She just seems so immature and always needs to be told what to do, shown where to go, etc.

      • Alexandra Bananarama says:

I do remember that. It’s not the only time she’s been inappropriate and it was caught on camera. She stopped growing as a person during her uni days. William made her regress. Also, her childish behavior is a mirror of William. He was caught making fun of people and complaining about how bored he was at a gala.

I want to like her, but the truth is I can’t respect someone who aspires to be taken care of. If William divorced her and her parent’s business suffered could she go out and pull in income? No.
Last bit. I don’t care for some of my husbands family, but if my mother in law wants us at dinner we will be there with freaking bells on. For W&K to blow off the Queen at Christmas when Will sees the Mids every 2 months for a week long family vaca is shameful. It says much about Will, his family values, and Kate not respecting his family.

Sorry for the rant Faye! I do enjoy your posts!

    • Sachi says:

I think it’s not too late. She needs a good dose of reality and hopefully Grimsby has helped to open her eyes as to what many ordinary citizens are going through while she lives her privileged life.

Unfortunately, I think a lot of people are truly sick and fed up with her. Most of the comments on websites are always negative, sarcastic, and leery. People are not seeing her “charity work” as genuine and don’t take her efforts seriously.

Her image has really taken a bad hit and I don’t think she even realizes it. She’s become a joke to many people and others don’t see her as respectable. Many of her previous fans have given up defending her and excusing her actions.

      • bluhare says:

Sachi, I think they could rehab their images as well, but from what I’ve read of Kate I don’t think Grimsby will do much.

I really wish she would do something, though. I want to support her, I really do.

      • Sachi says:

I agree with you, bluhare. I criticize her a lot (obviously), but I want her to do well because this is what she has been chasing after for a decade. This is the life she signed up for and short of William divorcing her, I really doubt she and her family will be the ones to say, “We want out!”

If she still can’t change after 2 years, and the end of her “settling time” of 2 years is coming up next month, I don’t know if she ever will, even with the baby’s birth. Her life as a royal is not gonna get easier and other factors are contributing to the public’s opinions about her turning sour.

I wish William will just man up and decide whether he wants to be King and serve his country or not. If he doesn’t want the title, give it to his brother. He and Kate are just so out of touch right now that I don’t think they’re even aware how badly they’re coming across.

      • Alexandra Bananarama says:

About the William dragging his feet with responsibilities. Didn’t the RAF give William the ultimatum that ends in April? That he either needs to work like everyone else and cut the special treatment? In a statement his superiors are flipping mad at his entitled behavior and how he destroys their budget for his personal whims.

He himself said he would take on full time royal duties when he leaves the RAF. Has there been any news on this? I’ve been curious.

      • Sachi says:

Alexandra – I think that RAF ultimatum must happen almost every year. There’s always talk about whether William will finally leave the RAF and become a full-time royal, but time and again he still doesn’t make the decision.

The RAF has always been dodgy when it comes to William. William has used the RAF helicopter for his personal trips, one was to go to a stag party:

That was back in 2008. Where was the reprimand? Nothing ever happened to punish William. If it was someone with no HRH title who did that, he’d have been fired on the spot.

But William even got promoted, even though he only got into the SAR training using a loophole in the first place since his vision isn’t perfect. Special treatment was given to him.

William has made the RAF his hiding place and they’ve been happy to cover up for him like the rest of the media. I really doubt he will leave the RAF when asked to do so this year. If he leaves, it will be on his own terms, and he’d be moaning about what a difficult decision it was to make because his life is so stifling and hard. *rolleyes*

    • Suze says:

It’s not too late, both she and William could easily rehab their images. I actually think William is more responsible for the WillKat disaster that is looming. He’s used having her around to do whatever he wants whenever he wants and to take herself off to her parents when he doesn’t want her around. It works for him but it doesn’t make her a very a productive member of the royal family

To me, the issue is that Kate MIddleton – pre-marriage – was billed as the perfect consort for royalty because she was (somewhat) middle-class, normal, and came from an “average loving family”, something William craved. She was older, educated, down-to-earth and had a long relationship with William. These were all billed as great attributes for a working duchess – plus she was supposed to have been “trained extensively” for the role.

So to watch her do so little over the last two years has put the public’s back up. Plus, the dread “what good is royalty for?” question is looming large.

If those two found causes they cared about, and were willing to work at least semi-hard for, that would go a long way.

      • bluhare says:

What Suze said! Especially the Wiliam part. If she’s the door mat everyone says she is, she does what he says.

      • Lexi says:

Royals, what are they good for? …absolutely nothin’ (accompanied by Elaine Benis dance)

  10. A says:

Is she wearing a half wig/extensions?

  11. ANGELIC 20 says:

is she far along to have a baby kick and move?

she looks good and i will not guess she is pregnant if i didn’t know it already.

    • JenD says:

I’m about as far along as she is, and I’ve been feeling my little one for a couple weeks. This week, my baby is learning somersaults in there, I think.

  12. berry says:

As someone who is from a small fishing town even the Queen along with Prince Charles and Princess Anne have visited us, so Kate isn’t being punished. And I can’t believe I just defended Kate SMDH.

  13. Dawn says:

I like her so much. She always looks so well put together. I think she will not pop until month 6.

  14. GoodCapon says:

Kate talking to jobless teenagers about “gainful employment” – what an irony.

At least the delay had done something good: more people turned up. Had she been on time she would have been greeted by 30 locals who are vastly outnumbered by photographers. She’s not really a pull as everyone would like to think.

I smell a vacation coming up.

    • bluhare says:

      (Tinfoil hat is in place)

Do you think she was late because they did enough recon to determine there weren’t enough people there?

      (hat off . . . for now)

      • GoodCapon says:

Nah they’re not that smart. Otherwise she would’ve been late on her engagements all the time. ;)

I think this is the first time her solo engagement has seen more than 100 locals. Most of the time her figures hover below that.

      • bluhare says:

I always thought she drew more people than that. Wow.

  15. backwards says:

She looks good, but every time I see a picture of her I urge to just grab a hair tie and give her a ponytail.

  16. Lulu says:

Gawd, if she would just stop HUNCHING. It looks especially creepy in the photo of her looking over her shoulder.

  17. taxi says:

Tall women with long torsos show bumps later than shorter women. There’s more space between the pelvis & ribcage.

  18. AnnieC says:

God, she looks Normal in these pictures! Jeezus, just Eat some Food!!

  19. Shannon says:

Some women just don’t show that much, myself included. I have two kids, I didn’t show till the end of the sixth month with either of them. I am five foot even and 115 pounds soaking wet, I gained 20 pounds both times, and gave birth to healthy seven pound boys both times.

    • sherylynn says:

Shannon, did you lose a drastic amount of weight before the pregnancy like Kate? Seriously, she still has a ways to go before she hits a healthy bodyweight for her height. She’s not even close to how she looked before her crazy dieting.. Tsk. tsk.

      • Chris says:

Gisele has spend all her life being malnourished/anorexic/bulimic and she is still alive and looks healthy so Kate has good chances of survival if she takes good care of herself.
Hopefully Kate will gain a load of weight otherwise it’s fake just like Gisele.

  20. LadyMTL says:

Wah, I love that coat. I loved it the first time she wore it and I love it now. And her hair does look so much nicer un-sausaged, it makes her look a lot younger.

    • spinner says:

*sigh* I love that coat too. The color & fit is stunning. I think she looks beautiful — happy & healthy.

    • bluhare says:

Kate does some of the best coat and boot porn around.

      • Another K says:

That is so true! I had never thought of coats being cute but she has worn some really attractive styles over the last year or so.

  21. Francesca says:

Not everyone gets a big bump. I was six months prego with twins before I had to buy bigger clothes.

  22. shewolf says:

She looks gorgeous as always. She does pregnancy really well. Some women put on tons of weight or have a very obvious bump from the near beginning and thats ok too. I really dont think there is a wrong way to do pregnancy, just a wrong way to dress for your shape.

  23. Merritt says:

My sister’s bump wasn’t much bigger than that when she was much further along. Women have different size bumps.

  24. mk yarwood says:

She doesn’t look smaller. And she’s gaining most of her weight in her boob area for now. Wait until she has 4 weeks left, and see what size she is then. Give women a break for not putting on drastic weight.

  25. My2Pence says:

The reporters on the train from London appear to have gotten there just fine, no trouble with the weather. Rather than take the less expensive train, Snowflake takes an $18,000 helicopter ride on the taxpayers dime and is 1.5 hours late.

Oh, but wait, she’s sick, don’t you remember? So sick she can be on an airplane for 8 hours, but cannot handle a train trip? I suspect the unemployed of Grimsby could have used $18,000 of taxpayers money for something better than this meager 2 hour visit.

    • Alexandra Bananarama says:

Kate deserved that helicopter ride! Why should she ride the train with all the common folk. She’s so much more important than them.

    • bluhare says:

I’m sure helicopters are much better for nausea than trains, TwoPence. The stench of the common folk can be unbearable.

Seriously, though, my first thought was helicopter? When she’s had puking issues?

  26. Gine says:

She looks really good, but I also want to see her in new outfits. I know there was just a post where people were complaining that she doesn’t repeat stuff enough, but her clothes are the only thing I care about, so.

  27. Katie says:

This idiot is going to make Jessica Simpson’s first pregnancy look short.

  28. Faye says:

I actually do think her body has changed quite a bit. If you look at pre-pregnancy/early pregnancy photos, she’s plumped on in the face, bust, butt, and backside, I think. She looks good though, younger and healthier.

  29. Suze says:

I’m going to be nice: she looks really, really good. Pregnancy suits her – or maybe it’s just the extra weight – whatever it is, she looks better than I’ve seen her look in years.

I love the coat. Love the color and the style suits a pregnant woman.

I really like her hair like this.

She looks much more comfortable on engagements without William. Maybe we’ll see more of these in the future ; ).

    • Alexandra Bananarama says:

      Oh Suze

It’s all she can be complimented on. Appearance. Pregnancy hormones are a wonderful thing.

      • Suze says:

I know! She’s not a model or reality star so there should be something else to compliment her for, but I always come back with “nice clothes, pretty hair…”

  30. Sachi says:

That coat is awesome. Overall she looks nice.

Hopefully she follows up on this visit and this isn’t just a one-time thing that will not to be done again until next year until a PR boost is needed.

  31. NeoCleo says:

I’m not a fan, but she will make a very pretty pregnant lady, no doubt.

  32. skuddles says:

Nice to see Katie looking healthy and happy.

  33. Hyuga says:

Nice that for her only appearance of the month she was an hour and a half late.
And she’s following in the footsteps of Prince Andrew by getting helicoptered around the place.
I guess the train is good enough for the Queen but not for Kate.

    • Cazzie says:

She should enjoy those helicopter rides while they last – if I had to guess, traveling by helicopter will be one of the main items ‘examined’ in the upcoming Royal Family budget hearings…soon to be cut.

  34. MyLittlePony says:

She looks good, I think, and now looks about the same as she did at Uni. But am I the only one seeing more droopy eyelids and lower set eyebrows… So no more fillers?

    • Sachi says:

I don’t know about fillers, but isn’t pregnancy supposedly good for the skin? All those hormones? Or maybe she hasn’t had an appointment for microdermabrasion and facials.

Her makeup today wasn’t done well:

      • MyLittlePony says:

Good God! She really should take some lessons, and not be so obstinate as to “knowing” what suits her best make-up wise.

      • Laura says:

She is wearing so much make-up…it kind of looks gross and ages her. It’s also interesting to note that in the majority of published photos of Kate, she looks flawless…but in this photo she looks harsh and her face is done up like a drag queen.

Not sure what the fascination with her is. Yeah, she wears nice clothing and isn’t hideous, but she sounds stupid whenever she speaks and is the laziest princess in recent history.

      • Alexandra Bananarama says:

Jeez! Her skin is in bad shape! And her roots are showing.

Pregnancy is amazing for your hair, skin, and nails. Unless you don’t take care of yourself. Most of her pics are photo shopped. A friend from germany saw her close up and said her hair and skin were just terrible. She also, wouldn’t look people in the eyes. Weird.

      • Belle says:

No idea about Kate’s skin, but not all women enjoy gorgeous glowing skin during pregnancy. ;) Those hormones can cause you to break out as well… and get melasma (pigmented areas/spots), etc.

      • GoodCapon says:

Here’s a BIGGER picture. You have been warned.

      • Jaxx says:

Yes, some women do enjoy glowing skin. But my poor daughter suffered severe acne throughout her entire pregnancy. And I do mean severe. They weren’t the big bumps but tiny red ones that covered her entire face, chest and back. Nothing at all she could do about it, she carried on bravely for nine long months, but she felt embarrassed and mortified.

    • Suze says:

I agree – she’s gone back to looking more Kate circa 2004/2007, and that’s a good thing

  35. veeta says:

Can’t stand her. Why applaud this woman who laid on her back until she got the proposal from the weak William Middleton, then laid on her back again showed her nude boobies and butt, then got pregnant(imo to squelch the nude photo tarnish )
All she’s done is lay on her back, she does little royal charity or royal work and once the baby comes it’ll be back to business as usual, vacations, shopping, hair appointings, no Nanny because she’ll just move her mommie in or go stay with her mom to care for the baby, while the press keeps that from the public.
William is no better, he’s always miserable or angry and getting uglier by the year.

Kate is so average looking, it cracks me up when people fawn over her as sme great beauty, sorry but I just don’t see it.
Don’t like her at all, waste of space and total slacker.

  36. Gemini08 says:

Well she was so underweight before she got pregnant it’s not surprising that she is still tiny. But- she will either blow up (as most women do who are underweight when they get pregnant) or she will continue her eating disorder into the pregnancy.

    • blonde on the dock says:

      She has an eating disorder?

      • bluhare says:

I don’t think she does. I think when she got engaged and was getting ready for her wedding, the stress probably did cause her to lose weight. And then I think she liked the way it looked in photos and she’s stayed thin ever since.

      • Alexandra Bananarama says:

        Blonde And Baroness Bluhare

She may have lost the weight as a combination through stress and diet. She was on a diet prewedding. There was even the bit with the wedding ring. She asked for it to be sized 2 sizes smaller because she planned to lose that much weight and wanted the ring to fit. Come the wedding day William had to cram the ring on her finger. Cameras caught it all and statements were released why the ring didn’t slip on easily.

Kate was never naturally this thin and in her 30′s her metabolism is slowing. She has smoked in the past to keep weight off.

      • Belle says:

bluhare… wasn’t there a lot of talk about the diet she was on before the wedding? I thought she actually acknowledged the diet… and her mother and sister were on it as well (I think)?

      • Alexandra Bananarama says:

Belle I meant to include the diet name in my post. She, pippa, and carol were all on the dukan diet. Low car, high protein, blah blah.

      • bluhare says:

Belle and FLORC: The Dukan diet! Or something like that. I remember; the diet for meat eaters. OK, she dieted, and then decided she liked the result. I still don’t think she’s got an eating disorder, though.

      • LAK says:

RE: The weight loss. Don’t know if she has an eating disorder, but the weight loss was a deliberate plan. A fan asked her about it on walkabout during one of her engagement walkabouts and she replied that the weight loss was ‘part of the plan.’

      • Belle says:

LAK… I remember hearing the ‘part of the plan’ comment now as well. I’m not a usually a big royal watcher, but it seemed to me like she did lose a fair amount of weight before her wedding… but then she kept getting even thinner after.

I guess I think she used to be ‘healthy’ and once she started losing weight for the wedding, she went overboard and continued… and yes, she did look way too thin at one point (IMO of course!).

    • candice says:

Thanks Alex – you nailed it yet again.

  37. blonde on the dock says:

She looks gorgeous. She has the same overwhelming thick hair as I do. I think a bit of layering around her face would be flattering. It’s difficult to wear it up because of the weight of the hair. I get a headache from it.

    • Alexandra Bananarama says:

Blonde. Her hair only got thick overnight before the wedding. Her whole life before that she had very flat and thin hair. This is all documented in photographs.

Also, in the 1st weeks of her pregnancy she had layers around her face. It didn’t look good and suddenly they were gone. Probably the layers were blended in from extensions or wiglets. She certainly didn’t grow inches of heir in a week naturally.

      • blonde on the dock says:

Nope! That’s her hair. Every last strand. I went back and looked. It’s always been that thick. I still think she should layer it though.

      • Alexandra Bananarama says:

Blonde, i’m curious how far back you’re looking.
I am talking her whole life up to the 1st few years at her university.

Please post the links to what photos you’re looking at.

If you see those pics next her hair now and still think it’s natural you either have cataracts or you are delusional. Sorry to be so blunt, but it’s a night and day difference.

Her hair is fake. It’s not an insult. You can admit this and still adore her.

      • Thinker says:

I think the issue of her hair is still up for dispute. It’s certainly fake in that her natural color and texture are naturally quite different from the way she likes to wear it. She dyes it a warmer shade of brown with some golden tones, and her natural color is quite a bit duller. The natural texture appears to be quite thick and wavy/curly based on photos from the tropics. She spends a great deal of time and money on presenting that hai, fancy blow outs, teasing and mirror tricks for the camera. However, I’m very much doubtful she’s ever worn a wig or a weave. I think that for certain events she may have worn hair pieces but IMO only the temporary sort that clip on and off at the end of the night. Caucasian women really can’t wear weaves without damaging their hair in a semi permanent way.

      • Alexandra Bananarama says:

Above LAK has posted some very compelling and obvious photos of Kate’s clip on wiglet and her early hair. The thickness of then and now is totally different.

As for the blurry tropics photos i’m white with straight hair. Our hair texture looks about the same. When I go to a tropical climate I put my hair in a braid or bun before i go in the water. When i get out I let my hair down. By then the sun has dried it and it’s frizzy and wavy. Beach hair.

Also, points made above of her hair growing out its layers within a week is suspicious. As for hair damage and weaves. Her hair is broken all over close to the scalp. that’s common for people, but not those that get their hair pampered a few times a week by a hair dresser that specializes in weaves.

Again, this isn’t an insult. Lots of people have weaves.

      • Thinker says:

See for me none of those photographs are compelling evidence, the size change in her hair can be attributed to just different camera angles, different haircuts and different styling. A really good blowout can do wonders.

I once saw Jennifer Aniston in person on a rainy day and was shocked at how dead and thin her hair looked up close in the light of day.

      • Alexandra Bananarama says:

Well Thinker. You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink. It’s painfully obvious to others.

  38. The Original Mia says:

She looks nice, but why wouldn’t she. It ain’t hard work being lazy. I wonder if this extended work day came about because someone at SJP is finally acknowledging the turn in popular opinion.

  39. Melissa says:

Everybody keeps saying that she looks good here b/c the lack of sausage curls, but I’m still seeing sausage curls! Maybe toned down a little bit, but definitely still there.

Personally, I think she should cut 4+ inches off of her hair. She’s 31, about to be a mother, and isn’t a Hollywood starlet – why have hair that goes past your boobs?

  40. KellyinSeattle says:

I think she looks great…doesn’t bug me that she doesn’t “work”…I still think she’s okay.

  41. Jenn says:

I see no such bump … she’s so tiny there is nothing their!

  42. TalkyTina says:

    Glorified welfare mama.

And her idiot husband is too dimwitted to see his failure of military duty and do NOTHING WaityKate is giving the “End the Monarchy once Elizabeth dies” party, more and more ammo!

  43. cozee says:

The most overrated average looking woman in the press, besides her sister. Her face is so average and yes I do believe she has “some issues with food and not wanting to eat.”
Thank god for hair because her face isn’t all that, pockmarked skin from what I hear.

  44. Jaxx says:

I don’t agree about repeats. Especially coats. Why should Kate buy a new coat for every appearance? That’s just completely wasteful and in these economic times she would be put in the stocks for that kind of extravagence.

Criticism aside, she may actually LIKE the coat and certainly wants to wear her favorites more than once.

    • bluhare says:

I’ve got no issues with her repeating either, Jaxx. But I do think the press goes overboard with the “Thrify Kate” stuff.

  45. Mich says:

Argh. I’m struggling. I’ve pledged to say something nice about her every time she extends herself beyond her own little bubble but I’m not feeling very generous today.

What exactly was the point of this trip? I’m sure that despite its unfortunate name, Grimsby is a charming village (an old shrimp boat has been restored!) but was a local tour really worth the expense of the helicopter trip? Are tourists now going to start flocking because the Duchess visited for a few hours? Is the issue of sustainable fishing now dominating dinner talk around the country?

If she is going to do one event (or less) a month, I wish it would be something more substantial.

So back to saying something nice…she’s, uh, got good ankles.

    • bluhare says:

From the reporting ahead of the trip, I got the impression it was supposed to be a morale booster for Grimsby.

Mich: Try this. “Kate has good taste in coats.” Did that help?

  46. CC says:

To be honest her body shape is something that brings me no issue, seen people like her and people that become human barrels. I think the ones with little bumps are lucky SOB’s, regardless of how that’s accomplished. But I don’t diss the Jessica Simpsons either, I just don’t care either way, and women are body-shamed enough , unless it’s KK, but I can stand her even less than Waity, pr0n tape is a shittier claim to fame than chasing the ring.

Now if we go into her “work ethic”…. I’m surprised real people (you know, the ones that only get paid if they show up to work) bothered to go and see her.

  47. babythestarsshinebrite says:

The more I see and hear about her the more I like her. I think it has something to do with her be really smiley but not in a fake way.

  48. 20/20 says:

I saw some video footage of this “appearance” and I have to say she seems so mechanical and wooden and her interactions with people seem forced. Diana was a natural and effortlessly endeared herself to the young and the old. She genuinely liked people and it showed.

Kate is just a phoney – lacking in depth, sincerity and on the more superficial side, natural beauty.. Hey, wouldn’t it be funny if one of the young children she pretends to be interested in decided to yank on her extensions? Ouch…

    • Alexandra Bananarama says:

Many people have tried to compare Kate to other royal women. You just can’t do it. Kate is her own completely unique person.

As people that have known her said before she has a hard time relating to people, showing interest in them, caring. She can’t think on her feet or make much more than brief, polite conversation.

She’s no Diana, Marie, or Anne. She is just Kate.

If a child yanked at her hair she would cancel all future engagements out of fear for her life.

  49. bagladey says:

I luv that coat. I’m 5′ 8″ tall, was never on a diet when I was pregnant, (wasn’t much in to carbs), gained 21 lbs , had a 7lb 2oz son and wore the same shorts out of the hospital that I wore when I was admitted. People are different.

  50. Thinker says:

I think this was punishment too, also to quell the public revulsion and justify the lifestyle perks… Which brings up the question why did she need to travel by helicopter? That’s the most expensive, least effecient mode of transport and what makes this visit the sort that justifies such a rapid and stelth mode of transport. I’m guessing William considers Kate’s VIP status enough to justify the cost for travel extravagance for herself and her staff of minders. I think taxpayers may like to know why shes rushing to and from London. Me thinks its to ensure she makes it home for a dinner date with Carole and Pippa to discuss palace renovations and complain about the tediousness of meeting sad poor people rather than flitting from vacation to palace meeting only the rich and titled.

I think some of y’all are being unfair about Kate’s weight. At this point the baby is still just the size of a little peanut. Weight gain isn’t yet for baby and more for Mom, its hormonal weight that is meant to shift around so that when baby does need the calories, or milk, or vitamins, the essentials are all available.

When you look at the photos on the DM, Kate is clearly feeling pregnant. Her feet are swollen and her shoes look tight, her roots are growing out and graying. She’s stopped with the Botox or whatever face treatment she was doing, her skin is more lined, I would say she’s having a right go.
at a natural healthy pregnancy. I bet she’s off the ciggies too. She certainly has put on weight and looks like she feels pregnant, I really do think she’s trying to do it right and healthy.

    • LAK says:

The hair is growing out grey. She’s had grey roots for several months. They were really obvious during the Jubilee.

The Palace said she cancelled her mini list of engagements last February because the stress of the engagements was giving her grey hair.

of course it also coincided with Ski trip to France so there was that…..

    • TalkyTina says:

That’s what I’m wondering. Why does she get such an insanely disgusting waste of taxpayers money?

Michelle Obama does not get use of Marine One on her solo trips. Even if she did, she is the First Lady.
Kate has done nothing but get knocked-up!

      • Alexandra Bananarama says:

Tina The lovely POTUS & FLOTUS both insisted that they cover much of their own expenses while at the white house like travel and white house renovations. The logic was there was no need to burden the taxpayers to renovate a house only they would live in.

These are 2 people that are where they are through hard work and sacrifice. Also I looove that Michelle makes the first daughters clean up after themselves. Maids are not to make their beds, wash their dishes, or clean up after them.

Kate & Will have not earned what they have. If they did they might value it more knowing what would be waiting for them should their wealth be stripped away.

  51. Sachi says:

According to someone who was at Grimsby, this is her account about Kate’s visit:

“I Waited 4 hours? Outside the fire station and For what! She barely spoke to anyone stood with her back towards those who had braved the cold then waved and went inside she didn’t greet hardly anyone who was outside and then she was driven past crowds when leaving. Oh and when it says she made an unplanned stop to meet patients of St Andrews hospice, well actually they had left their hospice and been wheeled down to the fire station in the cold by carers to meet her she didn’t go out her way to visit them like suggested. Very disappointed in her brief encounter, because she was running late she seemed rather rushed and like she couldn’t wait to leave, I love Kate and was so pleased she was coming to my local town but all in all I cant help but think what a dissapointment it turned out to be. – Gossipgirl27, Grimsby, United Kingdom, 3/5/13, 4:41 PM”

I guess the visit wasn’t that productive? A helicopter ride costing $18,000, 1.5 hours late to the event, a visit that only lasted 2 hours, and then she was also in a rush to leave? What had her in a hurry? Was there another event she had to attend?

Someone on twitter also snapped this:
https://twitter.com/BillyWalsh_/status/308994743407353857/photo/1 – Kate arriving at Kensington Park before being driven (5 mins. at most) to Kensington Palace.

    • The Original Mia says:

I feel sorry for Kate’s fans when they are faced with the reality that is Duchess Dolittle.

What was the point of her visit? Why did she have to take a helicopter? When will the Queen put her foot down and stop all this silliness with W&K?

    • TalkyTina says:

Why does this dolt get a helicopter!?
Michelle Obama don’t get one when she comes back to visit Chicago! And I can’t recall her using Marine One without the President!

    • LAK says:

She has used helicopters to a number of engagements. I suspect she uses them alot more than is made public.

Here is another account of someone at Grimsby posted to a royal blog.

“No offense to anyone, but I have to laugh at people who keep insisting Kate has gained weight and has a healthy glow. I”m in Grimsby and saw Kate today. I also saw the photos in the DM and I can tell you those pictures are VERY heavily photoshopped and chosen to make Kate look better. In person, she looked as thin as ever, NOT pregnant, stooped posture, and covered with an absolute LAYER of make-up. Photoshop really does do wonders. I was surprised how thin, hunched, and old she looked.”

      • Sachi says:

I really hope the Windsors’ account books get scoured by the PAC for every expense.

Aside from the initial weather delaying her travel, she probably overslept or took a longer time getting ready (including having her batteries replaced, a robot must be tuned up to function) so she had to use the helicopter.

I can’t get past the “She looked like she was in a hurry” and that she hardly interacted with the people who waited hours for a glimpse of her.

Will she ever be genuine in her work as a royal? She sounds as unimpressive and dull in real life as she is in paper/photos. I’m starting to wonder if those “Can you test the smell of the tea…”-type of comments weren’t flukes or moments of vapidness, but it’s the real Kate.

      • LAK says:

Sachi – Here is another comment posted to a royal blog.

“William and Kate are like the starter couple in getting to know about royalty, and then you find out about how much more awesome everyone else is.”

  52. coconut says:

maybe she’s shopping now for the months ahead so the paps won’t catch her waddling round huge.

in my early pregancy months i wore my non-preg clothes as long as i could and even bought some regular clothes a size or two up. not that cost is an object to her, but maternity clothes are a lot pricier and there are relatively few options to choose from.

  53. vava says:

sorry, but Waity just doesn’t demonstrate anything intelligent. She, and the public’s reaction to her, are that she is a plastic manniquin. What the heck did she say or do today that was of any significance? NOTHING.

It’s all about her wardrobe, her horrible makeup, and her fake hair. That’s all we can comment about. She’s really a loser….from a celebrity standpoint and also from a personality stance. There’s just nothing there behind that fake grin. She has always been Willy’s mistress…..and continues to be so even though she now has “the RING”. The ring of sadness, no less.

sadly, vava, the sentiments (okay, the “facts”) in your comment seem to reflect the views of 98% of the commenters here. unfortunately for Kate, the other 2% – i.e. Kate’s fans — have yet to successfully rebut any of the dissenter’s valid points.

I think it’s really insulting to send someone as vacuous as Kate to a place like Grimsby which, like many towns, is suffering economically and socially, and deserves better.

Say what you like about Camilla but the reason so many people have warmed to her is that she’s shown genuine empathy, warmth and commitment to the causes she supports and takes an active role in them off camera. Whereas I bet, with Kate, she wouldn’t be able to find Grimsby on a map with a gun to her head and will remember it only as that bleak place she wore her Burgundy Hobbs coat to.

At least some celebs have gotten to where they are now via some hard work and starting from the bottom i.e waiting tables, small acting jobs, dance gigs etc. So if they are able to enjoy their hard earned wealth, so be it. As for this one….

Flopped on her back for Willy W.
That is ALL she has ever done!

Sadly, the taxpayers support this disgusting dog and pony show.
Waity Kate – Welfare mama in a fancy hat.
