Rielle Hunter on CNN: “it surprises me how mean people are… it’s unfair”

You’ll excuse me while we revisit captain batsh*t here and cackle over some of her latest ironic comments about how she’s a victim. As you know, Rielle Hunter got dumped by hapless onetime Presidential hopeful, John Edwards, after she came out with a book detailing their affair and trashing Edwards’ late wife, Elizabeth Edwards. Rumor has it that Edwards’ oldest daughter, Cate, told him to break up with Rielle or lose any kind of contact with her. It was a long time coming, and it reveals what a spineless twit John Edwards is that he couldn’t drop Rielle without an ultimatum from his daughter. Well Rielle was on The Piers Morgan show promoting her book, and she whined about how her breakup was painful, and how “mean” people were to her. I don’t need to point out how ripe this is.

On public perception of her
HUNTER: Destroyer, villain, evil, basher. All of that… I think all of it is unfair.

On if Cate made John break up with her
HUNTER: The truth is we’ve had problems for a very long time that we haven’t addressed because we put the children first. So it just came to a head. Everything came to a head with the — and the media scrutiny and bashing is very hot right now, obviously.

If she’s surprised at the media scrutiny
what surprises me most is how mean people are and how much they judge based on things that they don’t know anything about. That always surprises me.

[From Transcripts.CNN.com]

Then Rielle and Piers got into this long back and forth where she refused to discuss details of her breakup with Edwards. She also claimed that she offered Edwards advance copies of the book multiple times, but that he didn’t want to read it ahead of time. She wouldn’t say whether he’s read it now after publication. Piers also pressed her about why she trashed Edwards’ late wife Elizabeth in the book, and she laughingly tried to claim that she wasn’t trashing Elizabeth, she was discussing relationships in general. (Disclosure: I haven’t read the book and I’m not going to.)

On why she won’t discuss the breakup or say if John has read the book
The media is not entitled to everything in your life.

On trashing Elizabeth, she didn’t mean it that way and she’s the victim
MORGAN: And the main criticism has come from the way you describe Elizabeth. And you know, you use phrases about her, venomous, crazy, witch on wheels.

HUNTER: I did not say — a witch on wheels is not about Elizabeth. These things are taken out of context. When you read the story — just you take the little tidbit about the extraordinary night and you take it out of context —

MORGAN: Who was the witch on wheels?

HUNTER: I was talking about passive aggressive relationships, when a man doesn’t stand up — in general, relationships in general, when the man doesn’t stand up, the woman is often seen as a witch on wheels, often vilified, which incidentally is exactly what has happened to me.

On how she felt when John Edwards publicly denied that baby Quinn was his
I was devastated. It was devastating. I knew he was going to do it as well, but it didn’t — even knowing he was going to do it did not prepare me for how it felt.

On how she takes the criticism
It’s hard. It’s very hard to have the wrath of America directed at you, especially — and I really do want to say that I — I am responsible for my part in this. And I do take responsibility for my part and I am not a home wrecker.

Claims she wrote the book for her daughter
Because there’s so much distortion about this story. And I feel that it’s unfair for my daughter and really for all the kids to have to grow up under the umbrella of negativity and distortion. Because what happens, though, is like there’s all this — this judgment based upon things that are not true. And that judgment actually affects the kids.

[From Transcripts.CNN.com]

In that interview, Rielle also talked about the sex tape she made with John in Uganda. (The one that former Edwards aid Andrew Young was holding as collateral.) Or rather, Piers asked her about it and she hedged and refused to answer any questions about it. She wouldn’t say whether making the tape was her idea or John’s. She was a “filmmaker” hired to document the Edwards campaign, and she’s already dished plenty of dirt about him, so draw your own conclusions.

It’s all about her. Rielle is the victim, and she turns everything around so we’re focused on poor Rielle and how she’s misunderstood and vilified. She’s just trying to set the record straight for her daughter, by creating a record of the very shady and underhanded way she was conceived.

Here are some clips from the show. Rielle asks rhetorically, “Do you really think men cheat for bad sex?

Here’s where she claims she was devastated at Edwards’ claims that Quinn wasn’t his daughter.

I suppose what she said about elizabeth
    edwards was fair?

    • gee says:

This! If you’re going to dish it out, Rielle..

    • Jane says:

I don’t know whether what she said about Elizabeth was true, fair or whatever. But, the woman is dead and can’t defend herself. The mistress (which is all she ever was) is a coward and a low life. She takes advantage of the fact that her target is dead and she can say whatever she wants and there is no one to say otherwise.

Did Rielle every give a thought to what Elizabeth was going through? The wife of her lover had cancer and her husband was cheating on her, all of this very public and being talked about all over the country.

I doubt Rielle has ever really cared about anyone but herself. She has no conscience and she doesn’t understand why she is getting slammed. Any man who is stupid enough to get involved with a woman like that deserves what he gets.

      • endlesscircles says:

I had a friend in college many years ago who was almost identical to Rielle — the way she talks, acts, thinks. There is a palpable delusion they hold. It’s disturbing because they can be functional members of society, but when it comes to men, they have these eerie, false beliefs. I always felt a touch of compassion for my friend because I felt as though there was genuine mental illness there…

I’ve always held the belief that women behave the way they do with men in accordance to their relationship with their father.

      • Turd Fergussen says:

        ^^^ WORD.

    • Sweettart says:

I think Rielle has stolen Lilo’s crown as the Queen of Delusion.

It’s hard to believe that is even possible.

      • Moi says:

I second that. I tried watching an interview of her on tv a few days ago…the women is totally nuts and she doesn’t get it. Furthermore, her criticism of a dead woman is pathetic. Maybe Mrs. Edwards was a “witch”…can’t say I blame her. She wore a smile while fighting cancer and tried to keep her family together while her stupid husband cheated on her with the likes of this retard.

Novelist Jay McInerney said that his character Alison Poole in Story of My LIfe, was about Rielle Hunter (his former girlfriend) and that her and her friend’s behavior “intrigued and appalled” him. Author Bret Easton Ellis also included the Alison Poole character in two of his books, Glamorama and American Psycho.

        She’s a nutter…

  2. ZigZagZoey says:

LMFAO. Clearly she is INSANE. How anyone could be surprised at how mean people are is beyond me!

    • CTgirl says:

it’s as if she thinks that she acted in a vacuum and that her actions only impacted her sad little New Age life. Pathetic.

    • Jenny says:

I don’t frequently laugh out loud while on the computer, but that is just way beyond funny. Wow. She cannot be serious.

  3. Jackie O says:

i cant get past her hair. seriously.

  4. Mary says:

During which part of their relationship exactly where they putting the kids first? Oh wait, they weren’t. What happened to the good old days when people like her were ostricized (mispelled?) from society instead of being embraced?

    • brin says:

No one is embracing her, she’s disgusting.

      • Mary says:

But in a way, we are. Everytime this woman so much as takes a dump, the news is all over it. We may find her pathetic and disgusting, but there will be a lot of people that buy her book which puts even more money in her pocket.

    • fabgrrl says:

Maybe when we became enlightened enough to realize that ostracizing the mother would mean punishing her innocent child as well?

      • Kayla says:

I agree. Ostracizing the mother IS punishing the innocent child. What Rielle did was wrong, but the public needs to get over it.

    • Zelda says:

Oh please. Welcome to the Victorian freakshow, retooled for 2012. I wouldn’t call the attention to this woman (or Lindsay Lohan, or the cast of Jersey Shore, or the Kardashians etc.) an “embrace.”

    • Meg says:

THANK YOU! I was thinking the same thing! She may have thought about her daughter (but only a little) and sure as hell didn’t give a crap about his kidsd with Elizabeth. Such a waste of air, this woman.

    • MST says:

Embracing? The book debuted at #89 and is now at #121 on Amazon.

Please God/Goddess/Higher Being, let it fall to 10 + infinite number of zeroes . . .

      • Genevieve says:

I vow….VOW, people…that I will cut off my hand if I so much as pick up that blasted book at Barnes and Noble. I will CERTAINLY not grant her the favour of buying the damned thing. :-/

  5. Genevieve says:

Why should it surprise you, b*tch? Homewreckers in general usually aren’t treated very nicely.

Even after years of marriage, Camilla Parker-Bowles is still loathed for her part in the downfall of Charles and Di’s marriage.

Get a clue, Rielle….you’re a whiny, loathsome object of hatred, and will always be so. What did you expect?!

  6. kpist says:

That’s exactly what Elizabeth probably said about Rielle slutting it up with her husband, karma is a bitch

  7. Jezi says:

Really Rielle? People are unfair? Well gee, when you do messed up shit, people do get upset. No one is going to feel bad for the mistress. I wish these adulterers would realize that they are not the victims. The victims are the spouses that were cheated on, the children that had their family torn apart. These are the real victims.

  8. Sillyone says:

Grrrrrrr. I really do loathe this woman.

  9. Jayna says:

She’s trying to backtrack. I have read more excerpts about Elizabeth from her book. She is most certainly painting Elizabeth as an abusive bully and Johnny as the helpless victim with no backbone and herself as the savior, the enlightened truth-seeker helping him to find his authentic self. Gag me.

  10. StephanieMarie2685 says:

She should be really mad at her hairstylist..
    SHE’S mean.

  11. Jayna says:

She was so smug and gloating in the first interview. Right after that interview being dumped by “Johnny” and the vitrol she is receivng from the public in reaction to the bashing of the dead wife by the mistress has shaken her. You can see it in later interviews.

    • gg says:

I know I’m just preachin to the choir, but it’s high time she started feeling something from Planet Earth, including the outrage at her boldness. It’s all there in black and white now, thanks to her book. No way to take it back. So she digs her grave and doesn’t want to lie in it now. A regular human can’t go on compartmentalizing everything they did with somebody else’s man in a long and drawn-out saga like this one, and to his family forever. This stain is not really going to go away. She needs to learn to live with it and face reality and quit blaming everybody else. The blame is all hers. Move to Puerto Rico or something and start a new life.

And you can’t be a sniper AND a victim, “Rielle”. I suggest you change your name back to the nonstripper version you were born with, since the world is fed up with “Rielle Hunter”.

      • gg says:

One more thing to Miz CrazyHead here. It was the Lying, lady. All the LIES. This is what happens when. you. LIE. People will hate you for not being adult enough to tell the truth, when you and Johnny both had SO MANY CHANCES to tell the truth, and still chose to lie. SHAME on you!

Ask Bill Clinton if he’s ever lived his down. When, oh when will these people learn? Lying, cheating, stealing, backbiting, coveting somebody else’s spouse. She’s broken all ten commandments and every other rule in every rule book. She need not be so damn surprised at the outcome. Who else wouldn’t have seen a backlash coming? Answer: any responsible adult.

  12. dholmas says:

She clearly has mental issues. A bit dillusional oh wait a lot dillusional. What a bitch. She needs to shut up and go away. I would not waste my time or money reading her trash book.

    • gg says:

Yes. She sounds like she’s either reading weird books or seeing somebody or listening to somebody else’s rationalizations, because of the rhetoric she spouts whenever somebody asks her a question. Oprah asked her about what she was feeling when she took up with a married man with a dying wife and she just says stuff like “that is not my reality”. ?? Obtuse much?

I think she’s got some sort of schizo- or personality disorder where she (and he) are completely oblivious to future consequences. Like if it’s true he never saw the book before it was published. If he had any sense or spine whatsoever, he’d have been redlining the drafts to try and circumvent shaming his family. But both of them live in a cloud of living in the moment and nothing further.

Anyway, my whole point is she needs a hard driving old fashioned psychiatrist. And for the love of God, don’t give her any drugs.

REMORSE, Rielle. People don’t want to crucify you really but they want to see accountability and remorse. And you are the Queen of Denial.

      • Jayna says:

Gg, bingo. What kind of man doesn’t read the book first so he can make sure to protect Elizabeth and, thus, his children and actually so he doesn’t look any worse. It boggles the mind that he refused to read it before it went to print.

      • crazycatlady says:

Yes, the personality disorder she has is narcissistic personality disorder, i.e. she’s a sociopath. So it also comes as no surprise that she would hunt down a politician (celebrity) through which to feed her narcissism. Many women who chase celebs (starf*&kers) are narcissists. They crave attention ergo fame ergo they’ll get it by association if they have to.

The whole scenario that she describes how she came onto him the SECOND he locked eyes with her says it all. And all the me me me rationalization is the blithering of an extremely self-centered person. She is incapable of seeing or admitting what she did was wrong. She displays not an ounce of remorse. Sure, she says the words, but there is absolutely zero truth or sincerity behind them. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone deliver bullshit as poorly as she does. She’s as transparent as a plate-glass window.

I can’t believe the nerve of her to say she wrote the book for their daughter and his and Elizabeth’s kids to know “the truth.” What she’s saying is she believed the Edwards kids needed to know that their mother was a witch on wheels? I think (hope) her intentions will actually garner her the opposite effect; it will show the kids that their father was lured and manipulated by a psycho bitch.

  13. marie says:

if you really took responsibility then you would know you’re a homewrecker.. the woman is completely delusional and needs to go away..far, far away and stop giving her air time..

  14. wendy says:

    borderline personality disorder. textbook.

“Rielle, you keep using that word, ‘Hot.’I do not think it means what you think it means.”– Inigo Montoya

  17. Chatcat says:

I just want to bitch slap her into next week.

  18. Mitch Buchanan Rocks! says:

This situation has got to be hardest on Rielle and Johns poor kid – that is what is unfair in all of this.

    • gg says:

Probably not right now, but she will in a couple of years.

    • cbinatl says:

“Not”- it is harder on John and Elizabeth’s children much moreso than Quinn-Elizabeth’s children no longer have a mother; Quinn does!

  19. dorothy says:

    Karma baby, karma.

  20. Over It says:

Maybe people are “being mean” because you wrote a book about an affair with a married man and bashed his wife. Even if a marriage has problems and an affair happens, you don’t blame the spouse! She asked for everything she is getting! I really hope this book does not sell well! She should not profit from bashing a women who is not here to defend herself. I hope her daughter realizes how disgusting she is one day.

    • Kara Ann says:

Yes to everything that you said! I don’t think that a mistress, f*ck buddy, one night stand, or whatever is even vaguely removed enough to comment on the state of their lover’s marriage. Besides which at what point did you become gullible enough to believe whatever your married lov-ah is telling you? By definition of adulterer, this person is dishonest!

  21. MorticiansDoItDeader says:

My favorite part Is when she says she accepts her part in it then, in the same breath, says she’s not a home wrecker.

Also a classic, “do you think men cheat for bad sex?”

Don’t give yourself too much credit Rielle. Men cheat for ANY kind of sex. So his sleeping with you says nothing of your “sexual prowess.”

As an aside, did the mobile format change? I can no longer see the reply arrows and have no idea if comments are replys or stand alone comments. Also, I cannot switch from mobile format to full site.

  22. original lucy says:

She wrote the book to set the record straight for her daughter…um…she couldn’t have just sat down PRIVATELY one day, when the child is old enough, and told her the story? Oh, thats right, then she wouldn’t be getting all this publicity and money…if you look up “piece of shit” in the dictionary, Rielle’s ugly face will pop up!

    • gg says:

oh I know. People always say that when they publish a tell-all book. Then she goes on to say the media doesn’t need to know everything.

    • Theresa says:

I despise as well when anyone justifies self-serving behaviour such as writing a tell-all by saying it’s to set the record straight for their family or friends. B***s**t! They want public approval and sympathy so badly you can practically see it written on their foreheads! Of course she could have kept quiet and raised her daughter away from the spotlight and hoped that as time passes so does the heat of the scandal. But this woman lives for the spotlight, she wanted not only the high profile man, but she wanted the “first woman” seat beside him. She now has to live with the regret of not having anything at the end of the day, not realizing that she did get something; a beautiful daughter. She is selfish, pathetic, delusional, narcissistic, pathetic and and ego maniac. Nothing good comes from people who suffer from such a destructive combination. Looks like JEdwards suffers from the same. And in the end it is the children that suffer, and it does not end when they become adults. There will be a legacy of humiliation, betrayal and mistrust for the rest of their lives!

  23. Suki says:

poor woman. how come we are all so mean and unfair to her when all she did was sleep with a married father and then get knocked up, lie about it and badmouth the wife who died of cancer? Life is so cruel to her.

What a F-ing joke! Please no one buy this whore’s book!

  24. flan says:

They are not nearly as mean as you, you dumb bitch, or as that morals-devoid ex-lover of yours.

  25. potatopeel says:

a week ago she was more than ready to discuss her sex life – and now she isn’t? coy does not become her at all. sadly, keeping up with these tidbits is like watching a train-wreck – you don’t want to but you can’t help yourself. kind of fun to watch someone so smug and self-serving get her come-uppance.

  26. The Original Mia says:

Bitch, please. Why won’t she go away?

    • Minty says:

Seriously. She needs to fall into the nearest elevator shaft.

This narcissistic trick is determined to stay in the public eye because she is a famewhore, but worse than others since her “fame” is from shameless homewrecking, rather than from some stupid reality show. She’s loving the attention.

She was born Lisa Jo Druck to wealthy parents. Read somewhere that she was a failed actress and a former coke fiend party girl. She once had an idea for a TV show about “women who help men get out of failing marriages by having affairs with them.” Really. Not sure if she was already with Edwards when she had that brainstorm.

Years ago she declared that she would be famous and meet a rich & powerful man. I think you meant infamous, Lisa. There’s a big difference. Ask Monica Lewinksy. Your 15 minutes are up.

  27. GoodCapon says:

She looks so much like Samantha Brick…

  28. Lizzie K says:

It tells you everything you need to know about John Edwards that he chose this woman.

  29. Madhubala says:

This woman has bigger problems (mental and emotional) than I suspect anyone can help her with. Trainwreck in every sense of the word. It’s just a tragedy for her little girl that her mom insists on playing out this mess in the public eye.

  30. TxGal says:

If anything I can not stand this bitch’s face. She is a Dog. John Edwards is not too far behind either since he is a SOB for what he did.

Whether his marriage to Elizabeth was good or not the thing is that they were married. Their is no excuse for having his affair(s). To me it shows the man had no love for his wife at all. All he cared about was her money.

I do feel bad for his kids and I hope his daughter ends up throwing her father out the curb since he has no morals at all.

Rielle, I do hope in time you and Edwards will pay for what both did.

  31. Rachel says:

The media is not entitled to everything in your life… until you want to write a tell all book and cash in on it.

  32. LittleDeadGirl says:

I love people like her. No one should ever be mean. Doesn’t matter what you do … we should all coddle and hug you. I hate to break it to you princess but you aren’t four years old, you are a grown adult, you chose to make the shitty decisions you did, and we as the world collectivly hate you. The end.

  33. CTgirl says:

He’s a spineless p*ssy and she’s a morally diseased skank. Unfortunately, these two idiots are all the children have.

    • Loulou says:

I couldn’t have said it better. She’s one dumb c*w if she pleads unfairness. (eyeroll)

  34. Jayna says:

How not to endear yourself to potential stepchildren when writing tell-all.
In summer 2007, “I saw Johnny for two nights and he had never been sweeter to me. I remember thinking, wow, he should renew his vows more often.”

Nice, Rielle. Wife told she has terminal cancer renews vows with longtime husband and you’re bragging about seeing him after and how amazing he was to you.

The kids can’t help but love you after in your book making such a mockery of a day that was meaningful to their mom and poignant for the whole family.

Keeping it classy, as usual, Rielle, you spiritual person you. Not.

    • stinky says:

      o. m. g ….

    • crazycatlady says:

Yeah, OMG. What is so psycho is that she seems to think the world wants to share in her cheap thrills. She’d HAVE to be a clueless narcissist to think that she’d get ANY reaction other than disdain and disgust from this book. And I think it’s humorous to watch her make the press rounds and just get lambasted over and over while she sits there dumbfounded that she isn’t getting support and praise.

  35. ladybert62 says:

I guess this twit figured since the “bunny money” was gone that she should hedge her bets and write a tell all book so she would have some money in the future – unfortunately for her, she is a dumb twit and her book is NOT going to be the best seller that she envisioned. Karma for all the utterly mean things she said about elizabeth who cannot defend herself.

The only thing I do like about twit is her hair cut.

  36. Lucy2 says:

She’s either incredibly, debilitatingly stupid, or she’s just a horrible, horrible person. Maybe both.

  37. JudyK says:

No Comment, because this woman is not worthy of one.

  38. MST says:

Too be fair, her hair looks very fine a and probably can’t hold a curl or wave very well, but it still looks dated.

  39. bea says:

“it surprises me how mean people are… it’s unfair” – must be a quote from Elizabeth Edwards.

  40. Katie says:

She opened that door by writing a book. She’s got no room to complain at all.

  41. cody says:

I saw the interview with Piers Morgan and it made me cringe. I think she thought it was going to be a fluffy interview, but it did not turn out that way. She certainly did not win Piers over. Piers asked her why they didn’t use contraception and Hunter’s reply was “that they were in love.” She sounded like a teenager and not a mature woman in her upper 40′s. There seems to be no remorse and I think she suffers from Narcissistic Personality disorder. I feel sorry for her daughter.

    • Juliane says:

I guarantee you that John Edwards thought “they” WERE using contraception. It doesn’t absolve him of responsibility for getting involved with this low class disaster or his appalling behavior to his wife, children, campaign staff or the voters but I am sure he was panicked and appalled when his delusional side piece announced she was having his baby.

    • Opiesgirl says:

Why didn’t she use birth control? Because you can’t get pregnant and force a man to stay in your life if you don’t have a child to hold over him if you do. She used the oldest manipulation in the book and Johnny stupidly fell for it. He allowed her to ruin his political career and the rest of his life. Thank goodness she ferreted that out so we didn’t have to look at his lying, cheating face for the last 4 years. We should all celebrate this stupid tw**t and tell her why. Keep those cards and letter coming.

  42. Anon says:

    Poor Baby.

  43. Aims says:

Edwards is a jackass, no question. A real creep and any bad mojo he gets in the future is a gift from karma, as far as im concerned. But this crappy women, who has the balls to blast a dead women, who had shown nothing but class is beyond words. Lets see, this trashy women who has no issue with hitting on, dating a married man. Then getting pregnate, while hes still very married, and making a family. All of this when his wife is fighting for her life, im sure thinking about her minor children, and their well being. Both she and edwards are a perfect match, theyre both the lowest of the low.

  44. Tansey says:

Oh boo freakin hoo Rielle. Guess what? Men have been cheating on their wives for hundreds of years and the mistress is ALWAYS vilified. Know why? Because they know what they’re doing is wrong but they do it anyway. Do you know who else knows what they do is wrong but does the things they do anyway? Sociopaths. That’s what you are, Rielle, a sociopath. You screwed a woman’s husband while she was dying and had a baby with him. Now everyones calling you out on being the POS you are and you’re surprised? Puhlease. You keep trying to justify yourself but deep down you know, just like every other mistress knows, you’re nothing but a home wrecker.

  45. Selina says:

I still can’t believe that she also dated Jeff Goldblum and writer Jay McInerney…so weird. I think she needs a lot of therapy. I really feel bad for her kid…all the kids.

    I mean look at this:

    • crazycatlady says:

Oh no I DO believe it. (See my other lengthy comment here re: her being a narcissist celeb chaser). Not surprised in the least.

  46. Linda says:

I have to agree with her there.

  47. Emma says:

I don’t know anything about her or this situation but I do agree with her on “what surprises me most is how mean people are and how much they judge based on things that they don’t know anything about. That always surprises me.” She’s really spot on there. People are a-holes. I mean just look at the comments on this page, or on any page on any website ever, or listen to people talking. Why are everyone so mean? It actually baffles me that there are people who would say/write something just to hurt another person and that it’s accepted. It’s an absolutely disgusting behavior.

    • cbinatl says:

Emma it is called “you reap what you sow.” I don’t believe ppl would be as hard on Rielle if it was just another fling for John but the fact she was not just a fling she deliberately got pregnant to get some money from Johnny, tried to plan a wedding as soon as ELizabeth passed away then bad-mouths her in a book she trying to make money from, and on top of that doesn’t care who she hurts in the process. This is why ppl are being very very angry towards her!

  48. SRT says:

This woman lacks any sense of self-awareness whatsoever.

  49. bettyrose says:

For all that their little girl will probably be raised with more wealth than most children, it’s not worth it. Aren’t there some sane grandparents or something who can step in?

  50. telesma says:

I suppose if you are a crazy homewrecking sl*t, yeah, people are mean. But I’d hardly call it unfair, especially when you’ve been talking sh*t about a dead woman.

  51. dizzy says:

People are mean to you because you’re a cold-hearted bitch.

  52. Beck says:

All I can say is bitch be crazy. The End.

  53. Mrs. Odie 2 says:

Rielle, you need to wait until the wife is dead before you audition for the job.

  54. Mrs. Odie 2 says:

Rielle, you need to wait until the wife is gone before you audition for the job.

  55. Gigohead says:

I think she has a condition called borderline personality disorder where one believes too highly of themselves and fault everyone but themselves.

  56. the original bellaluna says:

Bitch, please! If you don’t want people to “be mean” to you, don’t sleep with other people’s husbands! ESPECIALLY while they’re fighting for their lives! And DON’T turn around and write a book about all the tawdry details while his family is still mourning their dead mother. It’s really quite simple, actually.

    Stupid ho.

Rielle Hunter’s book an insensitive fantasy

    From Miami Herald:

With the publication of What Really Happened: John Edwards, Our Daughter, and Me, Rielle Hunter enters the company of Gennifer Flowers (movies), Donna Rice (jeans) and Monica Lewinsky (handbags) who try to get something other than the obvious out of their brush with political fame.
In Hunter’s book, moxie, ambition and self-delusion ooze from every pore. Just as Flowers insists she wasn’t just a lounge singer, Hunter maintains that she was more than a videographer. She had studied Eastern philosophy in California and came to New York to be a spiritual adviser.
Maybe that’s why she stood at the door of the Regency Hotel in Manhattan in 2006 and whispered “You’re so hot” in Edwards’ ear. When she found herself sitting on “Johnny’s” bed, she must have exchanged the tenets of Buddha for those of the Kama Sutra, and “the most extraordinary night of my life” ensued. Frances Quinn Hunter, the result of subsequent encounters, is now 4 years old.
And that gives Hunter her excuse for giving up her career in spirituality for writing: She wants her daughter, and Edwards’ children, to have an accurate record of her place in their father’s life.
While most of us would look for a quiet moment and a private venue for such a delicate conversation, Hunter decided the better venue is a book, a prime-time ABC News special and multiple talk shows. The book supplements earlier documentary evidence provided by Hunter in April 2010 in the form of a spread in GQ magazine in which she tells her story posing, legs spread and in a man’s shirt, with a bevy of stuffed animals.
Of course, Frances Quinn could go to the transcript of the trial and find an Edwards staffer testifying under oath that Edwards called Hunter a “crazy slut” with expensive taste upon learning she was pregnant. We can only hope the record is now complete.
We already lived through Edwards’ dalliance with Hunter. Is there any reason to relive it? There is — if only to see how so many were fooled by such a shallow man. Selected as the vice- presidential candidate of a major party in 2004! Serious candidate for president in 2008! Father of the Year in 2007! Hunter accidentally reveals someone who didn’t deserve to be a senator, much less a president.
Edwards is self-absorbed, vain, lazy and remarkably comfortable with a lie. He spent as much time on the phone (four hours a night) as in briefings. Of course, it showed in the endless primping waiting to go on TV, the empty emoting over the two Americas.
Was serial sexual harasser Herman Cain a more preposterous candidate than John Edwards? The frequently married Newt Gingrich? It’s a close call.
The only surprise in this book is Hunter giving full vent to her hatred for Elizabeth Edwards, John’s deceased wife, who had to cope with both the return of deadly cancer and Edwards’ affair, which she discovered little by little — a woman trailing Elizabeth’s husband everywhere with a camera, a secret mobile phone answered with “Hey, baby” and unexplained absences (Edwards once took his two youngest children to the mall so that they could run into Rielle).
In Hunter’s telling, Elizabeth should have been fine with all this. Instead she is a “witch on wheels” who is crazy, venomous and unreasonable. Feeling bad that his wife’s cancer had returned in 2007, Edwards broke up with Hunter and held a press conference saying he would be with Elizabeth every step of the way. Less than 24 hours later, he called Hunter.
What makes this tell-all more noxious is that Edwards is complicit in the further humiliation of his children and his parents. He didn’t write the book, though some parts detailing Elizabeth’s reaction to Hunter had to come from him. But he has helped to promote it. After Edwards’ trial (at which he was acquitted on one count that he used campaign funds to keep his mistress), he announced from the courthouse steps his devotion to “my precious Quinn, whom I love more than any of you can imagine.”
There was no such fulsome affection for his father, stricken beside him, or his daughter Cate, who lent him dignity every day walking into the courthouse. A couple of weeks later, just before publicity for the book begins, Edwards takes Hunter and his daughter to a beach house in North Carolina to flirt, kiss and play in the sand. Turns out, lying low was for trial. Frolicking on the beach on Father’s Day weekend while his motherless children celebrated alone — that’s for the book.
Rielle thinks she’s the victim, Elizabeth the villain and Johnny, who did it all for love, the hero. She expects this book will help Edwards’ children understand and embrace her rather than be sickened by her descriptions of all-night sex with their father and her effort to humiliate the mother they loved. Her book may be shelved under nonfiction, but her story is pure fantasy.”

      Brilliant. Bravo to the reviewer.

I wonder if the weight of the mountain of backlash will drag her down out of the clouds and onto cold ground. Perhaps then she’ll seek therapy, or at least go away.

  58. bellamaui says:

I don’t know if anything she says is true–she contradicts herself every time she blinks. But to write a book and then complain that people would judge her is laughable. What did she expect? She WROTE.A.BOOK. Personality Disorder, perhaps?

  59. Jill says:

OMG is this the same trollop that called the then sick and dying Elizabeth Edwards, from reading the blogs, a “witch on wheels” in her book?????

    Get over yourself harlot!!
You are a disgusting pig who took advantage of a dying woman’s inability to have a proper relationship with her husband. To think your daughter is going to grow up reading about the disgusting things her mother and father did.

  60. Lucy says:

ok, ashamed to admit it but i watched the 20/20 interview and must say this: to those of you who saw it, am I right that she made it sound like she and Edwards were still together? She really is something else, isn’t she? I firmly believe the two of them represent everything that’s wrong with our culture. And how poetic that her last name is “Hunter.”

    • Jayna says:

They were together. He dumped her after the interview aired and I presume after he (and his daughter Cate) read the book. She was so smug and gloating in that 20/20 interview. By the next Monday, they were over.

  61. midnightmoon says:

Does that child look like Elizabeth or what? How is that possible. Back from the grave?? WOW. KARMA IS A RIELLE BITCH!?

  62. Ravensdaughter says:

Boo-hoo-hoo! Save your whining for someone who cares, Rielle. You put yourself out there, you famewhore!

  63. cruiz2 says:

Hopefully the Tom & Katie divorce will knock this no mind “hussie” story
    out of the tabloids soon.

  64. Jill says:

I had to make a final remark.

This is an evil, vindictive woman to bash a woman who had given everything to her family, been married for years and had children with this man. Why would she berate, bash and belie a dead woman in such a way is disgusting and vile.

  65. Lizzie says:

Relax, everyone. Elizabeth will get her revenge and then Karma will punish John & Rielle. She did it to get her 15 minutes of fame and John did it because he is a weak ass punk. We all knew the second he was found not guilty that Rielle was history. He only stayed that long to make sure she wouldn’t testify. Funny how a tiny podunk publisher is the only one who would publish it. I doubt very seriously Rielle has the wherewithall to write a book. She is actually proving what a home wrecking sleaze she is. I feel sorry for Quinn, who will have Rielle as her role model!

  66. Str8Shooter says:

Somehow this wench is SURPRISED that people think she’s a money-grubbing slut who broke up a marriage?

Here’s a few tips: 1) Don’t f*ck around with a married man. 2) Don’t write a freakin’ BOOK about it and expect sympathy.

  67. Bec says:

You know that the next step will be John Edwards getting involved with another woman (who is more ‘appropriate’ or whatever) and Reille’s delusional bubble will be popped. She has a serious wake-up call headed her way and will spend the rest of her life getting over it. She is so delusional that she seems to have borderline personality disorder.

  68. stinky says:

its a scary thing. those w/ this disorder will never be able to see it in themselves. never. she really IS a classic case (nut-case, that is)

    • crazycatlady says:

I know. I ponder whether the backlash will send her off the deep end and into therapy, but the truth is I know it most likely won’t.

  69. Ugh. You made the bed sweetie. Time for a wee lie-down….

  70. crumbcake says:

Give me a break, lady. You helped destroy the marriage of a woman who was DYING from cancer and you want me to feel sorry for you? Believe me, the last thing that Elizabeth Edwards needed during her remaining time on earth was to feel like the person most important to her had betrayed her, especially in her time of need. I’m sure EE felt like the entire world had forsaken her. Poor woman. Both you and John Edwards are complete a-hole home wreckers. Shut your mouth, enjoy your reputation as a sleaze bag–you worked hard to earn it– and go away.

  71. ZenB!tch says:

Aww!!!! You missed my favorite part….

PIERS: Why didn’t you use birth control
    REILLE: We’re adults
    PIERS: You were adults?
    REILLE: We were in love
PIERS: What does THAT have to do with it?

    • Jane says:

She wanted to get pregnant in order to keep him on a leash. The oldest trick in the book used by desperate women.

      • surfing2day says:

I know many don’t believe the Enquirer to be reliable, which myself at one time never believed to be either, but they keep proving me wrong.

Anyway I remember they had a story from a close friend of Rielle’s telling them that some physic, or perhaps her spiritual advisor told her that she was going to meet a very rich, prestigious man, and be set for life. The friend went on to say after Rielle was told this she started hanging out at the Regency looking for him. Well she found him lol. And most definitely she planned that pregnancy.

  72. Kosmos says:

Wait…I find myself more and more, wondering what was it in her that attracted Edwards in the first place? He was already cheating on his wife with other women. After spending some time with Reille, how could he not see her craziness? So, I have to think Edwards has got to have the worst taste in women, and why pick a crazy one?

  73. cbinatl says:

Please, she said she can’t believe and is surprised how mean people are? Reille, what do you think you were when you slept with a married man with young children, a dying wife, and then have the audacity to bad mouth the wife in your book; being sweet? I don’t think so! You said you did it to set the record straight that she was not saint; maybe she wasn’t but it wasn’t your place to tell the world that. The children of Elizabeth want appreciate you for it and that’s for sure! When you treat people ugly and don’t care who you hurt in the process it comes back to you. This is called “reaping what you sow” and you are reaping some of it now. It is not too late to change your life Rielle-start focusing on being a good mother and providing what Quinn needs now and stop thinking about what you wanted from John and the rest of the Edwards! They owe you nothing! John only owes you child support and that is it! You might find yourself happier in the long run!
