Is Kim Kardashian racist against Indians, or is she just a picky eater?

What’s with all of the anti-Indian racism lately? When did Indians become one of the “go-to” victims of racial insensitivity and outright racism? Full disclosure: I’m half-Indian. Some people think I look Indian – but I’m also consistently asked if I’m Mexican, Greek, Italian and oddly enough, German (?). I’ve been the victim of other people’s racism and at times, I’ll admit, I can be hypersensitive about racial issues. I don’t consider myself an expert on race or racism, so just take this post as what it is – one brown girl’s opinion.

On a recent episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Kim said on camera that she thinks Indian food is “so disgusting”. Chaos ensued.

Heads up Kanye West: you better stick with Chinese takeout if you’re ordering in with Kim Kardashian. On Sunday night’s episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, the reality star, 31, told her family she thinks Indian food is “disgusting.”

Her offhanded remark drew criticism throughout the Twittersphere. “I think it’s good Kim Kardashian doesn’t like Indian food, because that means she won’t ever visit India and that in itself is a blessing,” one user wrote.

Said another, “Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner called Indian food ‘so disgusting.’ Seriously? You don’t have to like it, [but] don’t be rude.”

On Tuesday, Kardashian took to her blog to address the backlash in a post titled “Just Want to Clear Something Up.”

“In NO way was [my comment] intended as an insult to the Indian people or their culture. This is just my own personal taste,” she wrote. “There are a lot of foods I don’t like . . . I hate cilantro and peppers, and there are definitely some Armenian foods that I personally find disgusting, but that doesn’t reflect my opinions on other Armenian people or my culture.”

Explained the E! star, “My comment wasn’t intended to offend anybody. We all have our own opinions and tastes and I was simply expressing mine.”

[From Us Weekly]

Sigh… okay…is this really a thing? Kim Kardashian did NOT say “Indian food is disgusting because it’s made my Indians, who are disgusting.” She really was just stating a personal food preference. And you know what? I grew up around Indian food and some of it really is stomach-churning. My dad used to spend hours making Ghee and the horrible smell of it still haunts me. Of course, my mouth waters when I smell Indian-style garlic chicken. So… my verdict: I really don’t think Kim was being racist. She could have stated her preference in a nicer way, sure. But a gut-reaction is a gut-reaction.

So says the woman who let a guy pee on her…

  2. kazoo says:

    I loveeeeeeeee Indian food.

And Kim Kardashian’s existence is disgusting.

    • Red Granny says:

      +1 on loving indian food

    • MJ says:

I disliked her before, but this bit about Indian food shows she has absolutely no taste and cannot be trusted!

      Indian food is delicious.

      • amelia says:

+2 on indian food! Seriously, if you leave me alone with a plate of simosas and a vindaloo….
Although ditto on the ghee kaiser 0_o I smelt it in delhi and almost lost my stomach

    • Shaz says:

+ 3 I would be vegetarian if I could eat it every day.
but big fake butts are disgusting

      +4

    • galaxygirl says:

      I agree!

Oh my TUMMY! growl…I love Indian food, FAVORITE!
I do not find Kim tasteful in any way… Jessica Rabbit wannabe…

  3. Waldemar says:

Since when are Indians a seperate race?

    • spugzbunny says:

      say what??

    • lena80 says:

Thank you! I need people to learn the differences between racism and prejudices. If she had said Indian food is disgusting because it’s made by Indians…that is a PREJUDICED remark not a racist one. There are technically THREE races and she along with South Asian Indians fall under Caucosoid. You can’t be racist against your own race, but you can be prejudiced against an ethnic group because of cultural differences existing.

      • Waldemar says:

And thank you! You are way better with words than I am.

      • Katy says:

        Well said lena80!

      • Maguita says:

And aren’t we all Homo Sapiens Sapiens?

Hard to be racist when we all hail from the same Hominid. But prejudiced, oh how often we can be!

Nothing prejudiced about Kim’s comment. But I still find it irritating that such a non-story about a no body had made its way into my day.

      • danielle says:

I’m not sure I agree with this, but I’m not sure how to put it. Some scientists say their are only 3 different races, others say, that their are not enough differences to be ANY races. (this website has an interesting explanation http://blog.world-mysteries.com/science/how-many-major-races-are-there-in-the-world/
So – their is no racism, only discrimination? My boyfriend is Arabic and does not self-identify as Caucasion – if someone says they are not Caucasion because of what ever reason, I’m certainly not going to argue with them!!!

      • lena80 says:

Danielle…I totally agree with you, I was just going by technical/societal terms. Genetically speaking there are practically no differences. Society as a whole enjoys putting people into classifications because of the “unknown” IMO. And when you think about it, many of us aren’t 100% locked into one racial group anyway. Terms like Caucasian which initially had serveral sub groups with various skin tones/shades has over time taken on the meaning of “white” features like pale skin and cultural factors. That’s probably why your boyfriend wouldn’t identify as white. It’s pretty much all subjective at the end of day. If we as a whole “stuck” to our assigned racial group…Home sapiens would eventually die off because diseases prone to that particular racial group would be passed down line.

    • ZenB!tch says:

I thought the three races which I learned in high school in the 80s were extended to five. I don’t know what happened after that, because sociology was never my thing.

I don’t get “Caucasian” – I’m Euro-American and Hispanic but I’m not Russian. Aren’t the Caucasus Mountains in either Russia or the former USSR?

    • moonriver says:

I was taught by my anthropology professor that race is a biological fallacy. There is not enough of a genetic difference between ‘races’ to consider any of us a sub-division of the same species. We have cultures and ethnicities.

      • Aquarius says:

Yep, moonriver. It’s funny. I am just about done with the third “core” course in my PhD program, “Issues of Diversity and Equity in Education,” and this is one of the first topics discussed in a [great] book for the course, Everyday Antiracism.

On topic, I have not had great luck when it comes to trying Indian food–I wish I knew what it was that my body reacted to–but while I think that Kim could have been a bit more polite, she clearly wasn’t making a connection between her dislike of Indian cuisine and a dislike of Indians.

  4. RocketMerry says:

Eh. I dislike mexican food, does that make me racist? Come. On.
That’s way too much of a stretch.

    • Marjalane says:

Yeah, this is dumb.I’m not a big fan of dairy products. I better apologize to cows.

    • lena80 says:

No, it would be prejudiced if you said I don’t like Mexican food because it’s made by Mexicans. Mexicans if i’m not mistaken, fall under Latino which isn’t considered a race, but an ethnic group.

      • RocketMerry says:

Thanks for the clarification; when I’m being snarky at tabloid non-stories I lose track of my facts :)

Incidentally, I have an honest-to-God question: what populations does the word “Latinos” indicate? Because I never know if Italians (I’m Italian), Portuguese and Romanians are supposed to be in the list or not. I probably get confused because I think of it as all the populations that have Latin descent.

      • LAK says:

@rocketmerry – that’s my understanding of latino too ie of latin descent therefore all the european cultures of latin descent would be included not just americans of spanish descent.

The only time these misunderstandings tickle me is when I think of hitler and his definition of aryan which apparently meant purity of race which only persians and possibly kashmiris can claim!!

    • lena80 says:

      Rocketmerry,

If I’m correct, technically Italians are considered the “first/original” Latins and they shared there culture and language with other Latin Europeans, mainly Spanish, Portuguese,French and also Romanians. Then the Spainards at that time, brutally (IMO) shared it with the indigenous peoples in Latin America. So orginally Italians were the “true” Latins but by extension what is now Latin American is considered Latin/o/a because they speak the Latin derived from ancient times with a good dose of of the Native Americans culture, language, etc.. mixed in.

Basically there are three generations of Latins.
      1st – ancient romans
2nd – portuguese, spanish, french, italians, romans
      3rd – southern/central american countries and quebec.

      • RocketMerry says:

        Thanks @lak and @lena80 for explaining :)

      • Hollz says:

        Quebec? Definitely not.

      • ZenB!tch says:

If we are going to include Quebec, shouldn’t we also include Creole and Haitian?

      • LAK says:

@Hollz – A big part of France is of latin origin. Therefore people of Quebec with French ancestry are latino.

Here is list of Latin countries worldwide. Quebec is definitely in there.

        http://www.travel-images.com/latin.html

@Zen bitch – i don’t know what the racial mix of Haiti or creole is, but if they have blood from any of the latin countries in their ancestry, then yes they are Latino.

      • lena80 says:

Hollz…Definitely So…Do some research on the matter before saying something is not definite…And I mean this in a polite way :-)

    • Lady D says:

I was going to say the exact same thing rocketmerry!

    • Echo says:

It’s just the way she said it– so harsh– by calling it “disgusting”. It was actually Kendal Jenner who said it first…omg why do I know that!!!! Anyways, they could have just said “it’s not my taste” or “I’m not a fan” but to call all Indian food disgusting is just rude.

    • ZenB!tch says:

Mine is Thai… I cannot STAND Thai food. I tried it once and it made me nauseous. I hate peanuts and peanut oil, sue me.

  5. Snowflake says:

eh, i used to think indian food looked disgusting. but then i tried it and it tasted good! not a racist comment imo. indian food doesn’t look pretty on the plate lots of times so she gets a pass on that one.

  6. Katie says:

Okay I totally despise Kim Kartrashian but she isn’t being racist. People have got to relax a little bit. She didn’t call Indians disgusting. I personally do not like Mexican food but it has nothing to do with the people of Mexico. I also hate ground beef but I find cows adorable. The two things are not mutually exclusive.

  7. Candyland says:

People are sissies. Everything bugs them.

Betcha Kim’s got a genetic dislike of cilantro. Lots of people do. It makes cilantro taste DISGUSTING to them. Good to everyone else, gross to them.

    • gee says:

I have that! Half of my family hates cilantro, the other half thinks we’re insane. It tastes like soap and dying as far as I’m concerned.

Anyway, Indian food is really delicious when it’s not too spicy. I don’t think she’s racist, just not very eloquent.

      • Naomi says:

I love Indian food, and yes coriander does induce this love or hate it reaction(it’s like the Marmite of herbs).

I agree that it’s not racist, if you dislike a particular national dish/food, a palate likes what it likes

  8. she says:

She could have said she didn’t like indian food. Not that it was disgusting.

    • Trillian says:

Exactly. Like, how old is she? I won’t let my 8-year-old claim any food is “disgusting”, if you don’t like it, fine, don’t eat it. But don’t go screaming “groooossss”.

    • Gayle says:

It is not racist but it definitely IS rude to say an entire cuisine is “so disgusting.” It carries the weight of an absolute judgement. I also find it impossible to believe. There is not a single type of Indian appetizer, dish, beverage, or dessert that she would like? Please.

If you don’t like it, just say that and express your personal preference.

  9. moopsie says:

she is always saying stupid shit like that. I don’t think she is racist, she’s just doesn’t think before she speaks. She is just a little air-headed. And I can understand Indian’s taking offence to it. Anyways, I had authentic butter chicken made by an indian (not in a restaurant) and my god it was awesome.

  10. only1shmoo says:

Kim is a waste of space, IMO, but i wouldn’t accuse her of being racist (leave that label for Miss Paris “I-won’t-date-a-guy-who’s-even-a-tiny-bit-black” Hilton.

As for not liking Indian food, that’s her loss; I think it’s the freakin’ best, and yeah, I actually do like the ghee too, heh heh.

  11. Miss Lafleur says:

Why is it that none of the gossip sites are mentioning the appearance of the infamous Ferrari, the supposed wedding gift that she forgot to donate or share with her husband. I saw it on a rerun this week and she kept calling it “my Ferrari”. More proof on film that these people are greedy, materialistic skanks!

    • TG says:

Wow, good catch about the car. And who gave them a Ferrari for a wedding gift? And why is she driving one anyway? The big story out of that episode to me is the continual display of Kim and Rob’s co-dependcy on mommy dearest. Those two twits can’t make a single decision without her heavy-handed guidance. Gosh he is such a %%%%%. Did you all catch the tattoos splattered across his chest? Oh, yuck. I think a real man does not need to try to prove he is a man he just is. I miss the days of cowboys, or at least the fantasy of the Louis L’Amour stories I grew up on. Surely there are still men out there like that.

  12. Anne says:

Hey Sweetie, there is nothing odd to be German, I hope! :-)

  13. Julie says:

i cant stand english food, i dont like mexican food and i dont like russian food.

am i a diva when it comes to food? yes. am i racist? no.

  14. BB says:

Some people find anything Kim’s says and make a big deal out of it. I don’t like Indian food and I hate cilantro

  15. Eve says:

Ok, off topic (kinda) but this made my morning — three lovely old ladies watch KK’s sex tape:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=5mYbLFD_BwE#t=0s

    • BB says:

You are a month late on this. This is old news.

    • Ri says:

OMG!!! I just died!!!! LMAOOOOOO! “oh she is getting it from the back? yea …greeks do that” LMAOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

      • Eve says:

        My favourites:

        “Ray J who?”;

        “What’s taking him so long, he’s so young?”;

        “It takes two hands, two hands with space in the middle!”;

        And the f*cking best one:

“What’s her problem? She’s just laying there” — I mean, when a 70-something-year-old lady considers your humping skills poor, that should be a wake up call (get out of the porn movies business).

      • Ri says:

HAHHAHAAHHHHAHA! Also “her rear end? Look at that, she is stupid” hahahahahahahah! The other lady “oh this is real pr0nography” ahahhaahah no sh-t! But I think my favorite is “the end is purple” bahahahhahahahahhhahaha!!! I want these ladies to be my girlfriends LOL

      • Eve says:

Me too, I want to hang out with them too — they’re like real life Golden Girls!!!

  16. Vera says:

If she doesn’t like Indian food then she doesn’t like Indian food. Could have gone about it differently, or said why instead of an unintentional open-ended statement that morons take the wrong way, but oh well. I didn’t know that disliking a culture’s food meant you hated everything about them and didn’t think they deserved equal rights. My apologies to Brits.

  17. Agnes says:

i guess people have different standards? i love indian food, while i would find being peed on and living an attention-whore lifestyle disgusting.

  18. sarah says:

I think Indian food is disgusting. Too spicy for me. I also think steak is disgusting and chicken wings and seafood. There’s nothing racist about saying a type of food is disgusting. People are seriously reaching with this.

    • cupidtyrox says:

But this is KIM we’re talking about here. This woman should be slammed constantly for her very existence

    • ZenB!tch says:

Oh thank you I totally forgot. I think seafood is disgusting, repulsive and any other word you can use. It has INNARDS! I love Americanized Mexican food but being half Mexican… Menudo is DISGUSTING… it’s cow stomach lining. Ewww! Oh and some Mexicans also eat cow intestines. EWWW!

Brain sandwiches of Indiana = disgusting.

Haggis and Argentinian blood pudding – DISGUSTING!

I like the Indian food I’ve tasted so far. I’m half Mexican – it’s spicy whats not to love.

What do Armenians eat? There was an Armenian run deli down the street from my old job but they had burgers and falafel.

  19. Mew says:

Media must get headlines out of nothing. Basically, it’s safe to say nothing at all. Anything can be made to look something it’s not.

  20. Cathy says:

Kim is a bubblehead, and I can’t stand her. But I don’t believe this was racist. She could of worded it differently. But we are all guilty of speaking before we think sometimes.

  21. pp says:

She has the right not to like Indian food, but she could have said it in a more grown up way. This is the same girl who is trying desperately to be in a Bollywood film. Also, I bet you if someone said to her “I think Armenian food is disgusting”, she’d probably go on a twitter rant bashing them and calling them a racist. That’s how she is.

  22. sundaygal says:

Indian food is awesome. So is her dress.

  23. Skins says:

Don’t think it is racist, she is just a stupid, ignorant girl and that is her stupid, ignorant valley girl way of expressing herself

  24. Shaz says:

She let someone pee on her?
Is this in the s*x tape?
I’m unfortunate to view it yet.
    Ew

  25. JudyK says:

Agree it’s a big stretch to accuse her of being racist based on her likes/dislikes of food.

There are still a million reasons to despise this fool. Let’s start with that hideous dress she’s wearing.

But maybe she was headed to a Toga Party.

  26. anemoneblue says:

are you kidding me?? this cow is so rude and insensitive…no manners whatsoever…and for the record, Indian food is delicious, love everything about India, the people are very nice and welcoming and the culture and country are just beyond words. These people may have money, but they sure have no culture or manners..

    • AB says:

      @anemoneblue: thanks!
as I said before, everyone is entitled to their opinions, she was just rude about it and I’m sure she would’ve felt differently if someone commented that Armenian food is ‘disgusting’…

  27. JessSaysNo says:

I think its too funny that she says her “culture” is Armenian… Her culture is money, plain and simple. I’m American with Polish ancestry but seriously I’d never go around talking about my “culture” being Polish. She is 100% lavish, tacky, and money grubbing… how is that Armenian? She is not out plowing fields and cultivating rice or even living Armenian pop culture… she’s so dumb!

  28. lil ole me says:

As much as it pains me to comment on this trick- That is THE PERFECT shade of red lipstick.

  29. The Original Denise says:

No, Kim, you got that backwards, you are disgusting; Indian food is delicious!

  30. Ri says:

I personally do not like indian food, and my sister LOVES it lol! You have the right to state your opinion about something, but there is a way of saying things without sounding offensive. Kim is such a trash bag and idiotic she acts like her teen age sisters, not a 32 year old woman! She should know shes on tv and people will see this! Simply saying indian food does nothing for me, as opposed “it’s so disgusting” is the better mature and classy statement. But what do you expect from ignorant porno bimbo? Classless!

  31. Adrien says:

Kim looks rather lovely here. Her curry-colored dress suits her skintone. Oh wait?

  32. Kate says:

I’m not the biggest fan of Indian food, but I’ve got sooooo many Indian friends and have ordered takeout along with them (and I lived in England for a while, where almost all takeout is Indian) and I’ve found the stuff that I really do like. It’s just about trying different things until you know what’s going to work for you and having Indian friends who are like, “Don’t try that. Try this.”

  33. MissyA says:

Looking at KK’s face gives me Delhi Belly. Does that make me racist against plastic Ompa Lompas?

    • Anna-fo-fanna says:

Hmm, I dunno. I think her face is looking better these days. I mean, I know what you’re saying, and she definitely still disgusts me as a person, but the kat-face itself is not as bad as it used to be.

  34. fabgrrl says:

Not that there was any doubt in my mind, but I am fully convinced she is the biggest idiot in the world. Indian food is delicious!

  35. serena says:

Oh well but she should have apologized for the rudeness.

  36. stevie says:

I seriously can’t believe this is a story. I really can’t stand her, but come on! She thinks Indian food is disgusting. Who cares? And who cares how she said it? Offensive because she used the word disgusting? Wow. Everyone here saying that she could of said it better are ridiculous. You can’t tell me that no one else has used tha word to describe something they don’t like. I don’t believe that for a second. Get real! :-(

    • Jen34 says:

My kids are not allowed to call any food disgusting. This is just another example of Mama Kris’s bad parenting skills.

      • stevie says:

Please. That’s a stretch. I agree she is a horrible Mother but stop blaming the parents for EVERYTHING when she is an adult and used the word disgusting. Sheesh.

      • JaimelovesFN says:

You’re a smart Mom who is setting a good example by teaching your kids good manners. You’re awesome. My Mom was like you. I can dislike a food but I can’t outright call something disgusting and offend a host or a friend. There are better ways to deal with this sort of thing and I’m glad there are good moms out there, like you, teaching their kids good manners!

  37. Jen34 says:

People get offended by just about anything these days. That said, it is very ignorant to say that any culture’s food is disgusting. I would bet there is an Indian dish out there that would have her stuffing her face.

I am half Arabic, and if someone said Arabic food was disgusting, I would be a bit annoyed. Just judging by the comments here, most people disagree with Kim.

    • stevie says:

Hot dogs are digusting. There I said it. Now I totally offended myself, being American and all. ;-)

      • Kim says:

You better move out of America now LOL! I agree – sooooo silly to equate not liking a type of food with being racist towards that culture.

      • Alita says:

But Stevie there are spiced hotdogs, tofurkey hotdogs, snouts and trotters hotdogs, hotdogs that have been too long in the cooker – not to mention all those puppies that live in warmer parts of the continental USA that are just hot dogs .. How can you subjectively disparage an entire cullinary and / or pet-owning tradition? What .. Do you hate puppies, is that it?? Puppies are cute, you obscene species-ist! You know PETA won’t be happy with you now.

  38. Rory says:

    MOO

  39. Lisa says:

F off. Sometimes I think she says things just so she can have something to retaliate against in her blog that night. Thoroughly narcissistic.

  40. OXA says:

Glad I will not run into her at my favorite Indian restaurants.
All ethnic cuisines have something some people like or dislike and I love a good Curry dish.

  41. Kim says:

I hate this family but please … Indian food is digusting. She didnt say Indian PEOPLE are disgusting. Why would anyone be offended by someone not liking a particular type of food? Thats ridiculous.

    • stevie says:

Yes! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Lol On a side note though, I bet there are a million people that will now only eat at Indian restaurants now so there is no chance of running into her! Haha. ;-)

  42. Nelle Dreyer says:

I order Ghee off amazon.com. Quite possibly the BEST fat u can cook with. Indian food is my favorite and I’m a white South African!!!

  43. nikzilla37 says:

I’ll take an order of Vindaloo any day of the week. Kim is an idiot and lacks culture.

  44. Dawn says:

Oh who cares what she likes or dislikes. Do we have to hear about her every times she farts? Why is it that everything that comes out of her mouth sounds so dirty and disgusting? This whole family is just a bunch of two legged pigs always oinking for more.

  45. JaimelovesFN says:

Everyone is sort of right when they say that IF she had said “Indian food is disgusting because it’s made by Indians” THAT would have been racist.

However, isn’t the implication the same thing?

I think the IMPLICATION is still the same. She said Indian food is disgusting, ie: “their food” is disgusting.

It is OF Indians and India…by extenstion she IS insulting a country and a culture and it comes across as prejudice.

It maybe wasn’t her intention and she is definitely entitled to her opinions and tastes but she expresses those opinions and tastes poorly. It just emphasizes the fact that she isn’t very smart and has VERY bad manners.

She could have said that a particular dish is “gross” or even just that she doesn’t like it. Instead she said it was gross. ALL of it. As her family is probably getting ready to eat it too.

I’m Dominican and I have Indian friends (friends of various backgrounds too…Albanian, Greek, Portuguese, etc) and we love our parents and grandparents home cooking and our cultures BUT we can also get sick of it at times or complain about certain dishes that ‘smell’. You know like imagine having McDonalds all the time or Italian food (as much as you may love it), sometimes you get bored or grossed out by the same thing.

Some of the stuff we still eat and others we don’t. However we would NEVER make any of the more negative comments at the dinner table when people are about to eat.

Or generalize our culture or someone else’s becauses if I did it would be me insulting my grandma or a friends Greek or Indian background, etc. Words mean something and so do manners.

This confirms that her family is trash. She reflects on them too. I have had no doubt she was stupid but if you needed anymore confirmation this is it. Her blog post doesn’t help either. She is a clown. Ridiculous.

  46. sup says:

i think she’s trying to look like eva longoria here

  47. ok says:

I think the producers of the show intentionally put the part about her and Kendall talking about how “disgusting Indian food is” just to get people talking…I mean think about it, why would the producers make sure that random comment was on the show?

Kim is immature for her age…she should have worded her distaste for Indian food better. How would she like it if someone went up to her and said “omg Armenian food is so disgusting !”.

  48. Crystal says:

Wow. Some of you are reaching so damn hard. I don’t like Indian food either. What’s racist about that ???
I get that calling it ‘digusting’ is rude, but racism ???
    Stop.

I bet if kim didn’t like soul food, she would NEVER say “omg soul food is so disgusting”…she wouldn’t have the guts to say that though. She’s immature for someone that’s almost 32 years old…she has the right to her opinion but she needs to learn how to speak and sound respectful.

  50. maria says:

the remark was rude but not racist. I teach preschool and model behavior by saying ‘oh I really do not like the way —tastes but you go right ahead and have some’ it isn’t hard but she can barely speak proper english so I don’t expect much from her.

  51. Jilly says:

Disgusting is a juvenile word for an adult to use to describe any food, or any thing, outside of perhaps face-eating. Her vocabulary is limited.

“This whole family is just a bunch of two legged pigs always oinking for more.” *guffaw*

  52. Sal says:

She could have expressed herself better, but some people really don’t like curry. I for example, hate Chinese food. Simply because to me its tasteless, like eating nothing. There is no taste to it for me, and its not substantial – doesn’t fill me up. But that doesn’t mean I don’t like or appreciate Chinese culture. I just find their food unappetising. Thats all. On the other hand, I LOVE curries and love Indian and Thai food. The hotter the better. Its just a matter of taste thats all.

  53. Marianne says:

I hate Kim K as much as the next…but hating Indian food doesn’t make you racist.

  54. Mourning the Death of Music says:

I about bet had she not been so rude with her tone, this wouldn’t be such a big deal.

    “Indian food is so disgusting!”
    vs
“I don’t care for Indian food.”

I’ll admit, I get my nose a bit bent out of shape when someone tells me that they think something I enjoy (speaking food wise) is disgusting. There’s no need to be rude about it.

You don’t like mayo on your toasted BLT, that’s fine. Tell me you think it is disgusting and I’m going to tell you that I think you need pimp slapped back in place for being so damn rude.

  55. ria says:

How many dishes did she consume to render Indian food disgusting? 1, 2,3. Some dishes to some people are not pleasant but all of them? There are many different regional cuisine
dishes of India. Kim is stupid and rude. I don’t like some Thai dishes, doesn’t mean their food is disgusting, just simply means I don’t like a few Thai dishes. At least it’s healthy. Rather Indian food that a Wendy’s or McDonald’s.

    • UniqJaz says:

I Love Indian Food. I agree with everything you said. She could have stated it in a less rude way. She basically discredited all of India’s food. Ugh this girl.

  56. JaimelovesFN says:

    I Agree 100 percent!!

  57. jwoolman says:

Maybe she just doesn’t know what the word “disgusting” means.

I can’t even imagine how all Indian food could be labeled “disgusting” anyway. Okay, I find meat/fish/bird-based dishes rather disgusting but that cuts across all ethnic lines and has to do with something other than culinary criticism, and I imagine fur and leather wearing Kimmie doesn’t have that problem. Some Indian food might be too spicy for the uninitiated, yes. I can’t tolerate jalapeño peppers or hot red pepper flakes or caraway seeds (I pick caraway seeds out of rye bread, drove mom nuts), but that doesn’t make them disgusting. Whatever possessed Kim to call an entire culinary tradition disgusting instead of just saying she doesn’t like Indian food or more diplomatically that she just can’t deal with the spices?

  58. celine says:

she hates indian food, what’s wrong with that. actually, i don’t like indian food either so….?

  59. Crazy Charlize says:

Racist? The woman’s vagina is like a shoebox. It takes all colors.

  60. Allie says:

Reeealllly? We can’t dislike certain foods now?

    • sup says:

it’s her wording. the way she says it prompts the question of how she really feels… and after fake-helping some earthquake site she was seen shaking people’s hands for the camera, then turning around to use anti-bacteria liquid soap to sterilize her hands. like those people were dirty. even the ones that weren’t in the earthquake. kartrashians are gross.

  61. muppet_barbershop says:

It was foolish for her to use the word “disgusting,” but a) she hasn’t got the biggest lexicon on the planet and b) I believe her damage-control statement actually. I know people who think sushi is conceptually “disgusting” but certainly it’s not connected to how they interact with those of Japanese heritage.
