Linda Evangelista & Pinault testify about income, gifts & Salma Hayek’s pregnancy

Friday’s story about Linda Evangelista’s child support case was a doozy, and it’s just going to get more intense with more testimony coming on Monday and Tuesday. From what I’ve read, it seems like the whole “Billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault asked Linda Evangelista to get an abortion thing happened on the first day of court. On the second day of the court case, Pinault and Evangelista both gave testimony about who said what and when. Pinault even spoke about (his now-wife) Salma Hayek’s pregnancy with Valentina, and how they thought for months that (still-in-utero) Valentina may have Down’s Syndrome. Oh, and Pinault’s lawyers claim that they had approached Linda with offers of child support, and SHE was the one who gave them the silent treatment, which is a direct contradiction of Linda’s earlier claims (and the reason for the this whole child support case). Here’s more:

Her first job ever — picking cherries at age 12, on a farm in Ontario — got her $10 a day. Her first modeling job — for a hometown newspaper ad — paid just $8 an hour. Supermodel Linda Evangelista took the witness stand yesterday in her contentious court battle with billionaire French baby daddy Francois-Henri Pinault, describing her cash-strapped beginnings as a prelude to the big- money child-support pitch she’ll make Monday.

“Fifty cents a basket,” Evangelista said when asked what the pay was for that first job 35 years ago. This from a woman who once declared that supermodels don’t get out of bed for less than $10,000.

Evangelista continues to command $100,000 for the occasional runway appearance, the still-glamorous catwalker testified. She also spends more than $46,000 per month, she says, on Augustin, her 5-year-old son by Pinault, the CEO of the Paris-based luxury conglomerate that owns Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent.

Pinault would meet, impregnate and marry actress Salma Hayek within a year of fathering “Augie” — and has been less than a model dad, Evangelista’s lawyer has contended. The model and the mogul had been together only seven days when Evangelista announced her pregnancy. Pinault suggested she abort the baby, she says — though Pinault denies that. He promptly dumped her, not conceding paternity until it was confirmed by a DNA test a full year after Augie’s birth.

“My wife was pregnant,” Pinault explained of his decision to put baby Augie on a shelf that first year. “For five months, we were told the baby [had] Down syndrome,” he said of Valentina, his daughter by Hayek. “I [asked] Linda to postpone my recognition [of Augie] until after the birth of Valentina. It was very complicated situation. My wife almost lost the baby.”

Pinault — who is worth some $3 billion and makes up to $5 million a year — paid not a single euro until last year, when a Manhattan magistrate set a temporary support amount, according to testimony. His lawyers are accusing the supermodel of cherry-picking facts.

Pinault testified yesterday that his lawyers repeatedly broached the topic of support with Evangelista’s lawyers — and were met with silence. He spent $260,000 on “gifts” in 2010, Pinault told Support Magistrate Paul Ryneski matter of factly under questioning by Evangelista lawyer William Beslow. Pinault admitted that most of that money was for gifts for himself.

“I have a watch collection,” he said. “It’s for when I buy a watch for me.”

Did he recall buying any gifts at all for Augie in 2010, he was asked.

“I bought him a present for his birthday and for Christmas,” he answered.

Augie turned 4 in October of that year. What was the birthday present? Beslow asked.

“I don’t remember,” Pinault said.

And what was the Christmas gift?

“It was . . . FAO Schwarz,” he fumbled. “I bought it online. It was a piano thing.”

I said on Friday that I wasn’t really crazy about Linda or Francois-Henri. They both seemed kind of awful to me, but at this point, I’m definitely leaning more towards Linda. Sure, I still think the $46,000-a-month figure is kind of crazy, but as far as Linda’s side of the story… yeah, I think she’s the one telling the truth, or a more truthful version of what went down. Pinault made it seem like he acknowledged paternity of Augie very quickly when it’s clear he was shining Linda on, dragging it out for a long time until Linda forced the issue. I think Pinault fell in love with Salma and simply didn’t want to have to deal with all of the issues with Linda and Augie – and thus, he ended up treating Linda and Augie like crap. I also think Pinault’s lawyers are probably full of it as far as the “we offered her support years ago” thing – that version simply doesn’t make sense.

As for Pinault and his “gifts” to himself… yeah. That looks really bad, especially when he can’t remember what he gave his son!

the only one I feel bad for is that child.

    • Amy says:

      Amen!

    • Jennifer12 says:

Seriously. How horrid for this child- who is approaching the age where peers will say things to him- to have it spread across the internet that his father neither wants him nor wants to be in his life. Imagine how he will feel when he can access this stuff when he’s older. That’s the trouble with selfish behavior; the kids don’t stay little forever and it’s well documented and accessible on the web.

    • Molly says:

That poor boy. He’s being treated horribly by his father. His father put a mansion which requires $50K in upkeep monthly (that no one lives in) in a trust for his daughter with Salma Hayek, and he can’t spend the same amount for his son?

It’s bad enough when dad treats his main parent like a gold-digging prostitute, but then to also know that your dad doesn’t care about you as much as his new daughter? Wow. So sad.

    • lucy2 says:

Me too. All the money in the world won’t make up for having a crappy, absentee father.

  2. skipper says:

That guy is yuck. And how is he worth 3 billion and only makes 5 mil a year?

    Whoever wrote that article sucks.

    • Jazzmin says:

His family owns Gucci, YSL, etc…you name it they own it. Linda did the move that lots of smart women do, meet a rich guy get pregnant as soon as possible. That baby assures a woman’s future to live comfortable. Look at all the women who have kids by very rich men.

      • Ann says:

        Just like Salma.

      • bluhare says:

Make the move a lot of smart women do. Meet a rich man and get pregnant right away.

Did you even think for a second how that sounds? And the fact that an actual human being would be produced to parents who don’t give a damn except for the money they’ll get/fork over?

      • Liv says:

I can’t help but feel like Linda forced a pregnancy to get money out of it. Announcing a pregnancy seven days after they met? What a fluke.

Of course he’s super rich, but as long as she has much money on her own, I don’t think she has a right to ask for that much child support. She seems shallow and greedy.

It’s a shame as well that he seems to know so little about his son – wanted or not.

        Poor child.

      • Irapnev says:

“Linda did the move that lots of SMART women do” ugh excuse me but is getting knocked up by a rich douche considered SMART nowadays? Is that what what we now Teaching little girls at school and what they should dream of?

      • Molly says:

I don’t think so. Evangelista had lots of fertility problems. She always miscarried. I think she was surprised to get pregnant and surprised it went to term. I don’t think it’s fair or honest for people to paint her in the light they do. She kept the boy a secret and supported him financially until she lost her contract with L’Oreal. I’m also sure that the boy wondered who his father was and Evangelista probably felt terrible that his father was parading around his daughter with Salma Hayek while keeping the boy a secret.

I don’t think it’s right to treat her like a gold digger. Its Pinault’s fault for not wrapping it. He could have, and he didn’t. He wanted to get with a famous model.

      • LAK says:

@Bluhare – Jazzmin is only voicing out loud something that is very prevalent among some sections of society especially where money is involved.

i overhear snatches of conversation on a daily basis between women talking about how that is the smart thing to do, and how a baby locks the gravy train in for life. These women, and you can always tell, will not look at a plumber however decent and kind. They only date wealthy men with one goal in mind.

I am not saying it’s right, but it is how these women become ‘ladies who lunch’ or more politely ‘socialites/WAGS’

      • ZenB!tch says:

I remember when they invented Viagra and they killed my dream/goal. Marrying an OLD rich guy and waiting for him to keel over.

I don’t think I was ever serious about that but the invention of Viagra just made me sad.

….I just love how none, NONE, of you girls are pointing out the fact that this as*h**e didnt wear a condom. Excuse me, but when your that rich and that irrisponsible towards your own flesh and blood out a G*d damn condom on if you dont want kids with random models. Mysoginist much ladies???

    • Rory says:

You draw an income every year FROM your net worth.

      • skipper says:

I was under the impression he actually worked. Not just lived off his existing assets. If his family is so wealthy isnt he just draining their wealth by only contributing 5 mil a year? I am sure he spends.more than that.

  3. Marjalane says:

I say she should get the 46,000 a month. Call it a slap in the face for a self absorbed man that seems to think it’s O.K. to publicly play favorites with his children- it’s one thing to “fall in love” with another woman, and want to ditch the first, but you don’t ditch the kid too. Maybe some extra cash will make up for all the time and interest his father is showing him./ He’s got plenty of money and maybe this will teach him to use protection if he doesn’t want babies with his girlfriends.

I know it’s not a popular opinion, but I think child support should be proportional to one’s income, not how much it literally costs to care for a child.

      • lss says:

        Totally agree.

      • HappyMom says:

I totally agree. Especially when there’s such inequity between how his children will be raised.

      • DrM says:

Honestly the man is a d-khead. This isn’t about gold-digging or anything else. You father a child you take financial AND emotional responsibility for that child. End of. Pinault, as someone pointed out could have put a condom on it…he didn’t. He is a grown ass man and is responsible for his actions. Set a reasonable amount of child support based on his total income and let that be the end of it…I feel very sorry for his son.

    • Molly says:

      +46,000/mth

Totally right. I’m really depressed how some women are totally okay with spreading the misogynistic rhetoric about how Evangelista is a gold-digger. Her son is older and he deserves as much as his half-sister. I can’t imagine the pain that boy feels knowing his dad doesn’t care him as much as he does Valentina.

It’s really wrong of Salma not to put some pressure on Pinault to do the right thing. I hope she will. It’s really wrong that he’s being like this.

      • MW says:

Plus, if she is asking for 46K a month, you know she will probably be awarded, and accept, less. I just wonder if the Judge has the authority to Order Pinault to maintain an identical trust fund as Valentina’s, for Augie. With Linda, it’s probably not really the money so much, but hitting someone in the wallet is the only way to punish someone who hasn’t actually committed a criminal-type crime. That’s why people file lawsuits. This is her only recourse to defend her son. If she didn’t do this now, I would think her son would wonder how much she cared about HIM later on.

      • Good grief says:

I totally agree. I really, really have no respect for the misogyny in the guise of feminism that some posters have thrown at this discussion. It’s appalling.

I also have no respect whatever for Salma Hayek, at all. She’s on the cover of Marie Claire talking about her business development skills. Spoiler alert: she doesn’t have any, yet she got the capital for a skincare line, post-marriage. She does not have a rep as a particularly generous person or as a woman who – “Frida” aside – truly supports other women. I’d be pretty astonished if she wasn’t part of the problem in not trying to encourage her husband to step up. I totally don’t understand how Evangelista is greedy, but Pinault and frankly Hayek are not.

      • bluhare says:

Good grief: For someone concerned about misogyny on this thread, you certainly threw a bunch of shade at Salma Hayek.

      • Mare says:

Yes, it’s painful for a boy to know that his father doesn’t treat him the same as his sister but will that pain be smaller when he finds out his father started giving more money for him not because he wanted but because he’s been forced by court. I’m honestly asking.
And maybe I’m wrong but I think I’ve read in one of Salma’s interviews that Augustin spends time with them, is that true?

      • Marie Antoinette Jr. says:

Good grief, I agree with you. I have lost a lot of respect for Salma as well. How can she be with a guy who would publicly ditch one of his kids? I don’t care how messed up Linda is–that french douche should be stepping up for that boy–and Salma should be holding his nuts to the fire until he does.
If he can do it to Linda, Salma, he can do it to you.

      • RdyfrmycloseupmrDvlle says:

If you know salma like I know Salma youd know shes probably the one pressuring him not to give her a dime. To be diplomatic….shes not a nice person and her interviewing persona is a big act. to say she is a B is putting it mildly. These two deserve each other totally.
As for him…..he was out with his buddies drinking wine and he said ” the only thing I’ll give this B is the toilet paper I wipe my ass with.” Truth. He’s a huge scum.

    • RovingLass says:

Totally agree. He should have the same standard of living as his sister. Besides I always thought it took two to get pregnant, not just the woman. Linda got pregnant…puhlease! If he didn’t want to have a child with her then he should have worn a condom. period.

      • gg says:

And so should she have done some birth control. Things happen.

I’m not fully buying everything everybody is saying slamming everybody in this lawsuit. The truth always lies somewhere in between all the official allegations and appearances. We don’t know what went on in Linda’s mind, or Salma’s. One thing is clear though, Pinault has not acted 100% honorably and he needs to CHANGE the way he’s been doing things immediately and rectify all this, if any of it is true.

    • Nancito says:

I remember when Evangalista’s child support request first came out about a year ago, maybe less time. Anyway, at that time she asked for $46,000 per month and right after that Salma Hayek came out saying that her husband had opened up a bank account for their daughter and that he was putting in $50,000 per month into the account. Supposedly this was spending money for the child. So, in view of that, Evangalista’s request for child support really isn’t that excessive.

    • Violet says:

      +1

Linda obviously can’t make Pinault love the boy or spend time with him, but she can try to ensure that their son enjoys the same standard of living as his daughter. Of course, that won’t happen since Pinault spends far more than $46,000 on his child with Hayak. I remember reading that he once took his daughter on a vacation where he spent over $50,000 a DAY on the child, and yet he begrudges his son every single cent.

That poor child. His father is a total douchebag, and his stepmother is no better.

  4. lover says:

omg pay up alredy, all his kids should be treated equally no matter who the mama was… asshole

  5. Vicky says:

Just wondering why 2 beautiful girls would sleep with and reproduce with this man. I mean he isn’t a looker…oh wait…I forgot he is a Billionair!!!

  6. moopsie says:

I never really understood why beautiful supermodels love these billionaires. I’d take a hunky construction worker over this dude haha

    • Ann says:

Make that fireman in my case, but I agree otherwise.

    • Anna says:

Not only that, but why a “billionaire”? What is REALLY the difference between that (creepy money anyway) and, say, a multi-millionaire–handsome, strong, educated and savvy? Or even “well to do”? I mean, what do you “get”? Twenty Prada purses instead of ten? $3000 a jar snake oil BS versus Creme de la Mer? Fifteen tacky houses versus two or three? What is really the benefit? And all that to sleep with some utterly disgusting looking? Pinault…Murdoch…Zuckerberg…All billionaires and all…Blech!

      • TG says:

Too funny and so true! Lainey likes to reference that when talking about gross celebs about how much is it worth to let a gross man on top of you. And I don’t buy that argument about people saying celebs like Salma have their own money so they aren’t golddiggers, I think they are just bigger ones. They want to live an even finer lifestyle and keep it up for life so normal people like me would be happy with a spouse making $200 a year but someone like Salma needs a billionaire. Why else do models seem to be passed around by the billionaires? Because they are high class whores.

      • stinky says:

AND,that ‘Creme De La Mer’ is made by Nivea – and even SMELLS like Nivea!
        Ew …

      • gg says:

GREED, baby. Millions aren’t enough for these gals since they earn a lot anyway. Billionaires are the only step up from what they already got.

  7. mia girl says:

“The model and the mogul had been together only seven days when Evangelista announced her pregnancy”

What?! It’s early and I havnt had my coffee so I’m confused. They were only together for a week and she got pregnant?! Or is this a print mistake and they meant to say Hayek and the mogul were together 7 days? If the first, then wow that is one crazy week and Evangelista is super fertile and Pinault’s quite and expert marksman!

    Either way, poor kid.

    • fatkid says:

That’s what I took away from this too. If LE & FHP had been together only 7 DAYS when LE announced her pregnancy I can understand his reluctance to admit paternity until confirmed. No excuses for any additional delays

    • Original Lucy says:

That has to be wrong…maybe 7 weeks?

    • DailyNightly says:

I think they mean they had seen each other at various times for a TOTAL of seven days, not seven days in a row.

    • someone says:

They had been dating for 4 months when she found out she was pregnant, but they’d only actually spent 7 days together during that 4 month period.

      • Mich says:

That is my understanding as well.

The whole claim is a little disingenuous in my mind. How is Henri measuring ‘seven days’ – which sounds very specific and not natural to me? He isn’t saying ‘seven times’. Does he mean seven ‘days’ of 24 hour periods? If that is the case, 28 six-hour dates could make up the number. How much time beyond that talking, emailing, texting, etc?

      • ol cranky says:

if that’s what the writer was trying to say s/he should lose his job. that is one poorly written article

      • LAK says:

@Mich – Not a comment but an FYI. Many people at his level employ a diary secretary whose only job is to plan his day to the last minute 24/7.

From that, it is very easy for him to know precisely how much time he spent with her.

    • bluhare says:

I noticed that too. That’s some sperm Henri’s packin’.

  8. The Orginal Orginal says:

I don’t feel bad for the adults, who are arguing over money and bringing out their dirty laundry for the world to see. Who I feel bad for are the children, Valentina and Augie who will forever be able to read about all this in cyber space. A boy whose father didn’t want him and a little girl who might have been born with down syndrome. These things should remain private and settled quietly out of court.

  9. geekychic says:

Awful, awful, awful man. Shady, no class.
I lost all respect for Hayek (too bad, bc I adore her “Frida”).

  10. kit says:

The only one I really feel sorry for is Augie.
And while I think the amount of money he spends on the children should be equal, I don’t feel sorry for Linda at all.
BTW, normally if lawyers make contact there should be a paper trail. So, if it is true his lawyers tried to make arrangements for child support. it should be easy to prove or disprove.

  11. Laura says:

Disgraceful the way this man treats his two kids differently. Money or no money they both deserve the same treatment, to be acknowledged, and to have the same opportunities. When that poor boy reads how his father wanted nothing to do with him god knows what it will do to his emotional state. And shame on Salma for not ensuring her child’s blood relative isn’t being treated right. Money talks I guess!

    • maggs says:

I agree on the “shame on Salma” thing. This is her daughter’s BLOOD BROTHER.

WTF is wrong with her? I don’t care if they had a one night stand or a 10-year marriage.

She was not on birth control (or it failed). He wore no condom (or it broke or whatever) and the woman ended up pregnant. There is a HUMAN BEING as a result.

Pay up and be a father. Let your daughter know her brother. I’m sure there is plenty we don’t and will never know but…we do know this. Valentina has a brother. His name is Augie. They should be being raised knowing and loving each other.

This will kick Salma in the teeth when her daughter is older and demands to know why her brother wasn’t loved; wasn’t part of her life.

    • bluhare says:

Augie already knows. He probably goes to pre or regular school and has friends with fathers. I can’t believe he hasn’t asked someone. Whether it was Linda or the nanny, who knows, but I’d be amazed if a child his age hadn’t brought it up.

  12. Boo says:

He seems like a self-centered pig, and I’m sure Salma is *earning* her and her daughter’s share of that income by putting up with him.

He needs to pay Linda exactly what he spends for /on Valentina. That’s the way it works, dude. You don’t get to decide which child you love more or which baby mama you want to impress more.

Augie looks like a cute little kid.

  13. bubbles says:

this man is the personification of the saying money talks and bullshit walks.

  14. Jackie says:

being a crappy father makes a man so unattractive.

im always shocked when a woman marries a man who is a dead beat father to some/all of his kids.

    talk about a red flag.

  15. Jaded says:

I’ve always maintained that the richer a person is, the cheaper they usually become, and he’s showing his true cheapness by not supporting his child with Linda. It takes 2 people to make a baby and both have equal responsibility to nurture and maintain that child – what a tightwad POS that guy is. Hope Salma is happy in her marriage knowing now what a cold-hearted creep he can be.

  16. Little Darling says:

The problem I have with this story is kind of twofold and it has to do with both parents.

    1) Linda should have a)locked this down IMMEDIATELY after the birth of her son. It doesn’t take that long to get a motion in court. If he wasn’t agreeing at that point she should have ensured that at the VERY Least her son was set up with a fund for the future. As a mother this is what you do. No matter what. especially when it’s apparent baby daddy wasn’t going to be a part of the child’s life long term. Even if you have a billionaire boyfriend. Which leads me to point B) why isn’t she trying to sue Eric boyfriend, her live in father figure of this child for 4 years for alimony and support for his “lifestyle”. Pinoult has never been the one to support her or Augie, not yet at least, so to not take to task the only other person involved in this mess is unfair. How come the billionaire can ditch out after essentially raising this child?! Why didn’t she have him sign something in support when he was with her so shortly after having a baby? It’s shady to me that for over FOUR years she did nothing to set a trust up for her son, even after his paternity was concrete. IDIOT. Makes her look very shady now.

    B) For a successful, allegedly “smart” business man Pinoult certainly is another IDIOT. 1) clearly it is WELL DOCUMENTED that Linda is a crazy model, one of the crazier ones. Is he surprised she’s throwing the crazy now?? He obviously knew very early on she was not someone he would get serious with. And STILL no condom? 2) when he found out, without a doubt, that this child was his, WHY DIDN’T HE PRIVATELY SET UP A FUND??? Bam, problem solved. On the Downlow, even while Linda was refusing his help because the coattails she was riding were still moving along, he could have had a lawyer set it up for his son to have when he was 18, not even letting crazy Linda be privy to that. This way, when she comes knocking for crazy amounts and making him appear “deadbeat” he could have been like, “ummm, yes, in between purchasing my watch collection I happened to drop a heavy load into a trust fund when this baby was born. Here’s the paper work, see ya crazy bitch!”

So, he cannot be smart at all can he? He not only didn’t protect himself the FIRST TIME, by impregnating a well known temperamental egotistical model, but he failed miserably at protecting himself a SECOND TIME with this by failing to set something up from the jump to lock it up and make sure this wouldn’t haunt him.

That said, I’m really curious about the man she spent those four years with. He truly seems like the enabler of a billionaire lifestyle and a horrible person for not continuIng to help and support a child he helped raise. What kind of ass walks out on that?

  17. someone says:

Does anyone know why Salma “thought” her daughter had Down Syndrome for 5 months before she was born and then found out she didn’t? I’m curious to know what led her to believe the baby had Downs. You’d think an amino would be 100% accurate.

    • Mari says:

Certain hormone levels in blood can be telling of a VaRiety of syndromes very early on pregnancy.
You can keep monitoring, and those levels while high, can end up being not a definite thing until you have an amnio.
She had diabetes and probably other complications due to being an older mom, so they probably did not do an amnio because it can cause labor to start. More months of worrying.

    • kit says:

That test carries a (small) risk of miscarriage, so that might be a factor in deciding not to have it done, especially if you’re 40 or over. It does get harder to get pregnant.
My blood and serum tests came back low risk for Downs but if they had been high, I would have still thought twice about amniocentesis.

    • tracking says:

With my first child my bloodwork tested high risk for Downs (I was 36). I refused to have an amnio because of the miscarriage risk. I didn’t know for sure he didn’t have Downs until he was born, yeah, about 5 months later.

  18. msshuffleupagus says:

I know Selma Hayek is probably as shallow as the next celebrity married to a billionaire, but I still can’t believe she could stay with a man who disregards his own son that way! Isn’t she afraid of how he will treat their daughter if they ever break up?

    • Anon says:

Isn’t Salma the one that partners with the diapers, Pampers maybe? to get vaccines for impoverished children around the globe? Perhaps she should also stick up for her child’s half-brother, too. One never knows what will happen in the future or when/what/why children have to say then.

    • bluhare says:

There are a lot of women who marry men who’ve been married before with children. And some of those women are very happy to have their man ignore their prior family to focus on them. Some of those women encourage it.

    • Michelle says:

Because Salma was smart enough to make sure that there’s a trust set up for Valentina already, plus an expensive property in Valentina’s name. Whatever happens, Valentina is set and I think Auggie deserves the same amount that is set aside in trust for Valentina, if nothing else.

  19. I.want.shoes says:

I’m surprised that a lot of these comments are on Linda’s character. Who cares about Linda’s character and whether or not she is a crazy b!tch? Child support does not depend on the mother’s character.

    • Marley says:

AGREED! Child support should be based on a percentage of the non custodial parent’s income. THATS IT. And linda said the “10k a day” quote nearly 20 years ago. 10 years ago i said I wouldn’t marry anyone less than a doctor or lawyer…surprise surprise I’m not a terrible person for that because back then I was young and vain and superficial like most teen girls. Linda’s son deserves just as much as Salma’s daughter.

Pinault needs to pay up and pray his son has a strong enough character not to be affected by the fact his father doesn’t care for him as much as his sister Valentina.

  20. UniqJazz says:

He should support his son BUT she definitely does not have morals because she clearly wanted to get pregnant with a rich man. Her saying she doesnt get out of bed for less than 10,000 really shows her true colors. I find her gross. And shame on Salma for being with a man like that.

    • Mich says:

She made her stupid $10k comment in the 80s – a time when everyone was saying such stupid things. Beyond that, she was one of the hottest and most in demand people on the planet at the time. EVERYONE wanted her. As someone pointed out the other day, she has probably grown up a little in the intervening 30 years.

And ‘she definitely does not have morals because she clearly wanted to get pregnant with a rich man’? What do you base ‘clearly’ on? Are you psychic about the motivations of this 40+ year old woman? Could it not be that she found herself accidentally pregnant and wanted to keep the baby?

    • Molly says:

Lol. If you want to sleep with a homeless man to show your “morals,” go ahead, but I think bringing a child into financial insecurity is not reflective of having good morals.

I doubt guys that ask Linda out are poor men. She’s pretty much hired to be around wealthy people all the time and the ugly, wealthy guys are the narcissists who are high on themselves enough to ask her out.

      • UniqJazz says:

Oh please, she knew or found out he was a billionaire and tried to be with him. He wasn’t into it. I just don’t trust her. She is just mad her plan to be with a billionaire back fired. And good for her for being in demand back in those days. Nobody is saying go sleep with a homeless man. She could have found a decent man who is successful in his own and not rich through his parents.

    • I.want.shoes says:

If she had wanted to get pregnant by a rich man to get money out of it, wouldn’t she have sued for child support 4 years ago?

      • UniqJazz says:

Actually that is a very good question. So why now? She didn’t ask for child support before but now that she is no longer with her other billionaire boyfriend she is now going after Pinault for money ! She said she would take care of their child on her own when Pinault didn’t want anything to do with him. It’s shady that she wants to go after him now !

      • Aud says:

I think she lived in hope. After he married Salma however, things took off, when she revealed her son’s father.
Years before, she wouldn’t say anything to the media and now that he has shown that he’ll never return to her, she is taking him to court.

  21. morgane says:

    what about his older children?
I’m sure he has two older kids with another woman

  22. bluhare says:

I can’t stand Linda Evangelista; never could. She’s always looked like a snotty, snobby bitch to me, even in her modeling days. I feel bad for her child; it will be a miracle if that poor kid ends up with a healthy personality with a narcisstic egotist for amother, and probably somewhere the same for an invisible father.

  23. freckleshoes says:

46k is more than most people across the world make in a year.
Its child support and if the mother is well and happy then usually the child is too so support the child and the mother who has custody especially if you are not interested yourself.
you know if it was me I would have sorted a trust fund or similar as soon as possible to keep all this discrete and under wraps. Bet that 46k per month looks like a small price to pay for a billionaire to keep his privacy.
I’d like to think Salma is kicking his butt to sign over some serious $$$$ to Augie because this does not bode well for her daughter if things don’t end up happily ever after…..

  24. Laura says:

    @Little darling

ITA with everything you said, it’s everything I wanted to say but so much more eloquently put.

The only thing I would add is that I think he actually is a smart guy, you don’t generally get to be a CEO of such a big company without intelligence. That just makes the way he’s disregarded his son and not set up any form of trust fund all the more vindictive when you consider he knew exactly what he was doing this whole time. At any time he could’ve set up a trust fund, but he hasn’t, showing his true colours. But hey, he can sleep easy knowing he has an excellent watch collection…. Douche doesn’t even come CLOSE to describing this guy.

    • autumndaze says:

Color me unconvinced of his intelligence.

      Nepotism, anyone?

The fact that this custody arrangement has seen the light of day and shows him to be lacking compassion and a self-obsessed narcissist reveals that he isn’t too bright. What Evangelista is requesting is not only less than what he spends on his other child, it is a proverbial drop in the bucket to this billionaire. If he were smart he would have buried this story with cash from the get-go.

This will shadow his “brands” from now on. Watch and see.

  25. Relli says:

I belive it was reported that the conditions of Salma & pinault getting back together was that she wanted a child too. She had been vocal about her desire for children but all of her relationships with younger actors had failed in were never interested in being a father. She got something she wanted too and if I am not mistaken they broke up after Valentina was born. Then bam they got married, I wonder if part of Salma’s motivation for doing so was his treatment of his son Augie.

    • ol cranky says:

I do vaguely recall their engagement ending/them splitting up and then suddenly they were married. hrmmmm…

  26. LeeLoo says:

I think he should absolutely pay. I just think that he shouldn’t have to pay Linda. I think he should have to put 5.5 mil (46k a month until he is 18) in trust for Augie and then Linda can take it out for medical, education and any other expenses Augie accumulates. I think Pinault is a douche but at the same time I think Linda will require a third party to account for all expenses. This needs to be about supporting Augie NOT supporting Linda and I don’t trust Linda’s motives in that area.

    • Jennifer12 says:

Yes, I agree. She doesn’t seem like a saver, and her model years are probably not much longer as she’s in her mid 40s. There’s no reason she requires so much per month.

  27. d.c says:

    Get that money Linda!

Remember when Salma married him and people were saying it was for his money. Some people defended her saying she had her own money and she didn’t want his. They said maybe he had a great personality and was a good man and that’s why Salma married him. HA!

  28. Jennifer12 says:

Whether he wanted the child or not, he should support him and treat him equally. This situation isn’t the kid’s fault and it’s Sex 101 that if you don’t want a child, make sure you wear a condom or be 100% certain that the woman is on birth control. That said, I see a lot of women who want children (particularly by rich guys) and have unprotected sex in hopes of getting pregnant. Then they’re shocked by the fact that the guy wants nothing to do with it because he thought they were just copulating. Don’t deliberately get pregnant by someone who isn’t invested in your relationship unless you’re willing to be a single parent.

  29. Eleonor says:

Pinault is an asshole, and a crappy father, he is not the first one, and would not be the last one. You can’t force someone to love and be kind.
Linda is a well-known crazy bitch.
I can’t simpathize with her because of the timing. Why is she suing four years later? Why she didn’t sue after giving birth? This is suspicious.

    • Mari says:

@relly, , Pinault is only 4 years older than Salma.
Apparently Linda started dating Peter Morton, owner of the Hard Rock Cafes, etc. Before giving birth to her son. Now they have broken up, allegedly because of disagreements of where to set up residence, I think they were engaged, so she probably thought she and her son were set up for the lifestyle they “deserved”, or maybe he told her it was unnecesary. Either way, she has provided for her son, via her work or her billionaire restauranteur. If Pinault has to pay, then pay, but she is greedy.

    • UniqJazz says:

I agreee with everything you said !

  30. Mari says:

As I was checking the timeline, I remember thAn when It was revealed that Salma was pregnant, at the beginning noone knew who the father was. Valentina was born in September 2007 and Salma and Pinault allegedly met at a Venice exposition at his father palazzo in April 2006. Augustin, meanwhile was born in October of the same 200 they had already broken up at the beginning of their relationship, but she was pregnant when he started dating Salma. She has probaly knew from the start the issues.
Salma and Pinault broke up in August 2008, when she already had Valentina, and he was seen making out With Vvirginie Couperie in 2008. Then he and Salma went back together and married on Valentine’s day 2009. There is a connection with Valentina’s name!

  31. crtb says:

This guy is a douch! He was in town and didn’t attend his son’s third birthday party. Sent a gift that he can’t remember what he sent! His two kids should be playing with each other. Linda took the high road in the beginning however she lost her sorce of income. He should have jumped in and immediatly offered to support her and his child. It is not like he can’t afford it. It now makes him look like an ahole. Is he supporting his other two kids?

  32. marybeth18 says:

I don’t think either of them are shining examples of good people. However, Pinault is the father of that boy. He is very, very rich. His daughter Valentina already has a $12 million trust that her father set up for her, not to mention the daily luxuries that she is given. Valentina will grow up with a full coterie of nannies, security, private jets, vacations on yachts, and everything that being the daughter of a billionaire provides. When she reaches adulthood, she will come into a trust worth millions provided by her father.

Is Augie entitled to any less, simply because his father chose to marry Valentina’s mother and not his?

Evangelista is asking for more in monthly support than I make in a year. So yes, it seems excessive and absurd from the perspective of people like me, people who look at the money she has already and continues to earn. But when you compare what she is asking for against what Pinault’s other young child receives, it’s actually a pittance. Both Augie and Valentina are the children of Pinault. They should both be treated the same. Sadly, while Valentina gets a loving and involved father in her nuclear family, Augie doesn’t. He should at least get the same financial benefits, since he isn’t getting the emotional.

    • Emily says:

I thought I read somewhere else that Evangelista didn’t pull $46,000 out of the sky, but it was determined that’s how much was being put into a trust for Valentina a month, and she thinks her son should get the same amount. To me, that’s perfectly reasonable.

So, yes, $46,000/month sounds like “gold-digging”, but really she is just trying to get her son equal treatment.

  33. Yessiree says:

Unrelated, but does anyone else think he looks like an older, slightly fatter version of Jesse James?

  34. JRenee says:

Salma’s child was born in 2007. They married in 2009. He acknowledged the child privately in 2007. I personally can’t see myself marrying a guy who does not take care of his kids- all of them period.
He is full of it and needs to set up something for this child as he did with Salma’s child. Regardless of what kind of person Linda is/was, the kid is here, it’s his and should be taken care of-period. And any woman that dates a billionaire is a gold digger after money only? Who are these men supposed to date then? Sheesh…

  35. mimi says:

She is probably a gold-digger but that is irrelevant.

46k is really not that much and pretty modest when compared to his wealth.

Linda should be demanding EXACTLY what he spends on his daughter.

IF this A w-hole billionaire has a trust fund of 50k per month, PLUS he spends loads of money on his daughter he should be paying the same for his son.

What kind of a man is not involved in his son’s life?
What kind of man doesn’t make sure his son gets the best he can afford?

I actually think it was a normal response to ask her to get an abortion.
They barely knew each other, he didn’t want to father her child and he never gave his consent.
However, once the child was born, he is his father and should act accordingly, regadless of his relationship with the mother (or lack thereof).

  36. Jayna says:

I don’t like either one of them.

  37. TG says:

I think she is a gold digging selfish evil queen and probably neglects her son terribly but he wins the ultimate douche of a lifetime award. Putting the decision to “recognize your son” on the shelf for a year because you have yet another child on the way is disgusting beyond belief. And how could that whore know she was knocked up after 7 days? Is that even possible? I now definitely can’t stand Salma either.

  38. Snowflake says:

This is why you don’t go gold-digging. you only have yourself to blame when things go wrong. don’t be naive and think she didn’t get knocked up on purpose. and salma’s an idiot for being with this jackass. that’s why you don’t date someone for their money. you earn every penny. be a real woman and pay your own way.

and don’t give me that oh, but salma and linda have their own money. yeah, they do . but is coincidence how quickly they got knocked up? i think not. greedy women wanting more money. if this guy had no money, these women wouldn’t have given the time of day, much less their you-know-whats.

  39. Palladian says:

I think that Ms. Selma ‘Hack’ is the driving force behind this story. I know she is the one who cracks the whip.

My message though is … how the hell did this guy manage to go bareback with two women in this day and age, especially a man who looks like a troll! Money can blind judgement.

And, why is it that everyone is so fast to jump on the ‘it’s the woman’s fault’ looking for a rich guy to support them for the rest of their lives … this woman is rich in her own right. In my opinion, they all get what they want … except for this poor damaged child. Shame on the adults!

  40. Barbara says:

I had a child with a very very wealthy man when I was 21. I worked for a public utility and did not make very much money. I never asked for a dime from this man, and that’s what I got…NOTHING. I felt it was more important for him to be in my child life. Which he is. But he gives a future to his “legal” children by giving them business’s….and nothing to my child. Well he does give him a birthday card

    • Sloane Wyatt says:

Honey, sue your child’s father for support and college money! Taking the high road does no favors for your child’s future. You both deserve respect and help.

Good Luck! You seem like a good mom!

  41. Juno says:

Salma is way prettier than the ugly nostrils Evangelista.

    • Yamayama says:

agreed! and Salma’s much smarter and worked hard to make herself successful unlike the ugly, vapid supermodel bimbo who did nothing but stood around for photos.

  42. ZenB!tch says:

I love how he keeps saying “his wife” like she is the virgin who became the madonna.

Salma isn’t particularly slutty but she did get “knocked up” She was no better than Linda. She just happened to be more his type so he stuck with her – or maybe he thought 2 in a row would look really bad?

    She was NOT “his wife”:

On March 9, 2007, Hayek confirmed her engagement to a French billionaire and PPR CEO François-Henri Pinault as well as her pregnancy. On September 21, 2007, she gave birth to daughter Valentina Paloma Pinault at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. On July 18, 2008, Hayek and Pinault announced the end of their engagement.[32] They later reconciled and were married on Valentine’s Day, 2009 in Paris.[33] On April 25, 2009, they were married a second time in Venice.[34]

    • TG says:

@ZenB!tch – Very good catch about the “his wife” thing. He is acting like because the child is of “his wife” then that child’s needs should take precedence over the first child from the whore he slept with. Both children are equally worthy of your attention and care a**hole. I am seeing visions of angry women with pitchforks after this guy. He deserves no less. I will never watch a Salma film again. She is equally evil in my mind.

    • teehee says:

Whoah wait a minute we gotta stop with the calling of women sluts and whores for having a sex life, ok??

      • TG says:

Women who gets passed around by the men in the billionaires club are whores plain and simple.

      • hatsumomo says:

Well, I would agree with you there but this woman’s track record of banging nothing but supremely wealthy men is a bit suspicious. You wont catch Evengelista in a fling with the lead singer of a rock band! And you can have a sex life- if you’re mature and ready for it. Witch includes taking care of yourself first and foremost. Something also this woman wont do.

  43. Freya says:

The judge will definitely order FHP to pay child support, and he will decide the amount, but he can’t force a father to love his child or to spend exactly equal amounts of money on the child he loves and the child he didn’t want.

LE just has to raise her son to become a big success when he grows up.

  44. Aud says:

Evangelista is a grade a bimbo and gold digger. She suddenly decided, years later, to take it to court?
She tried to manipulate him with a pregnancy, she won’t be the first or last to do that. She probably hoped that he’d return to her, but he decided on Salma, and Linda got peeved.

    • Kim says:

Regardless – he slept with her and should have been prepared for the consequences.

He is a grown man who should have known better. His denial of Augie being his son proves he is a selfish, absolutely disgusting human being!

If you are prepared to do the deed, especially if you dont use protection, then you should man up and deal with the consequences if that consequence is a pregnancy.

    • Kim says:

What a fool this man is to deny this is his child and to not be active in his life. Despicable behavior!

  45. Yamayama says:

Linda isn’t aging very well. She looks and dresses like a 70 years old woman. who the hell dresses like that in her 40s?

  46. Meanchick says:

She was pregnant within seven days of them getting together? Wow. She did it on purpose. Not to negate the poor kid involved, but how many women can be impregnated withing seven days of taking up with a man? I don’t blame him for asking for a paternity test. Seven days sounds calculated to me. Did she bang him over and over again for six-and-a-half days just to make sure? If she wanted a kid then why hadn’t she adopted? She wanted a trust fund heir to some money throne type of kid and those women make me sick. If you’re cold enough to make a baby with a man to secure money from him, then what else would you do? Seven days? Wow. It takes me seven days to decide whether or not to kiss the guy. This was a planned entrapment, I mean pregnancy. If he has cold feelings toward her, this is why. It doesn’t excuse him phoning in the gifts and such though. It’s all about money and a wealthy businessman man like Le Pew knows when someone is playing games for the big payday. Too bad Augie is being used as a pawn. Hope they set aside money for therapy for him. I wil say this though. I hope LePew and Augie have a better relationship when Augie gets older or Augie will run into the same baby trap that Daddy Warbucks did.

    • Ann says:

Well, apparently, she didn’t ask for any child support until now. Men or women who have unprotected sex are fools, there’s no need to heap the bulk of the blame on the women, that’s really sexist.

  47. Rosmarina says:

The reason he doesn’t remember what gifts he gave Augustin for his birthday and Christmas is because his personal assistant did it for him. He just remembers the receipt from FAO Schwartz crossing his desk when he got his month expense report from the PA. My guess, anyway. But he buys for his watch collection himself.

    • Sloane Wyatt says:

Or, maybe the real reason this POS “doesn’t remember” on the stand what he bought for Augie’s Birthday and Christmas is because he bought ZIP! I think old asshat is lying through his teeth!

  48. Kosmos says:

He will have to pay some kind of child support, definitely, but how much? Although it is his child, he and Linda could not have had much of a relationship over the 4 month period, with only 7 meetings. This would be best described as a quickie affair that didn’t work out. She may have wanted the pregnancy or perhaps it was accidental, we will never know. She commands a big income in her own right, but he will be asked to pay child support according to the law. A wealthy man who stands to lose so much should be more careful.

  49. Embee says:

Linda was smart: she waited to see what he was doing for his acknowledged child before asking for support for Augie. Savvy.

This dude is a creep, as evidenced by how he treated both Evangelista and Hayek. That Salma continues to live with him is evidence of her poor character.

  50. teehee says:

Ah, the man. Men are always the same, arent they? All they focus on is their own life and what brings them their joy of the moment— oh wait, what- he has a son out there somewhere too?? Oh by golly he forgot about it for a moment there!

  51. fabgrrl says:

Well, it does sound like Linda Evangelista is a gold-digger. However, I am going to reserve judgement. She was 40+, childless, and had already lost two, presumably wanted, pregnancies. She may have been truly, genuinely surprised to have a viable pregnancy. Perhaps she didn’t think she could get pregnant. And that this was her only chance to ever have a baby.

Simple enough, LE wanted a billionaire boyfriend and FHP wanted a trophy. She got unexpectedly pregnant, and for her own reasons, did not follow the “proper protocol” and have an abortion. As children were not part of the deal, FHP dumped her, and was resentful of her actions. LE quickly hooked up with another billionaire and was fine with FHP being out of her life. Salma Hayek, who is much more high profile than LE, comes along and also gets pregnant by FHP. He is a bit more exposed now, so he, eventually, marries SH and “acknowledges” their child. LE, meanwhile, breaks up with her billionaire boyfriend, whom she failed to secure a billionaire lifestyle from. LE panics, realizing that she will probably not score another billionaire and uses her ace in the hole, FHP son, to maintain her lifestyle. FHP could probably pay what she wants without too much trouble, but he is angry about what LE did to him (having the child), and SH doesn’t like anyone muscling in on her territory (FHP’s money), so this is going to court.

As for why these women, who have more money than most of us will ever see, sleep with these icky men — a billionaire lifestyle is on a whole different plane. Even if they, the women, can live comfortably, they do not have the kind of money to ensure their children, and grandchildren, a fabulously luxurious life.

    • TG says:

@fabgrrl – You have a very good analysis of the situation, but even though he is understandably angry about LE getting pregnant he should have set up a Trust for the child from day one. I don’t blame him for not wanting to pay that gold digger one cent but a child is blameless and the fact that this douche is not a part of his sons life speaks volumes.

      • fabgrrl says:

Oh certainly. I’m just saying I’m not surprised that FHP is fighting this even though it probably wouldn’t make too big of a dent in his pocket book. He’s mad. He no doubt feels entitled to bareback sex with beautiful, young women and then never being bothered by them again when he gets tired of them.

I think they are all pretty disgusting, selfish people. I feel badly for the kids, Augie AND Valentina.

    • LAK says:

this is the best, most reasoned argument on this issue on both threads.

      the losers are the kids.

  52. Lindsey says:

I think the more important issue is how did this mole-rat looking dude get not one but two scorching hot women? I mean, there’s got to be something more alluring than the money…I’m hoping.

    • LAK says:

Money trumps ugly, even character, every time.

I once spent time in St Tropez and you would not believe how these out-of-this-world beauties flocked around these toady, fat, ugly old men. Like bees to a honeypot.

And these women would cut you if they thought you were competition.

  53. Leek says:

I can understand meeting someone and getting pregnant in a seven day period, but I don’t understand how you can meet someone, get pregnant, and know you’re pregnant within 7 days. That seems a little sketchy to me. Sketchy meaning, a plan perfectly executed.

That little boy deserves so much better from both of his parents.

    • LAK says:

i don’t think they met over 7 consecutive days. More like once a every 2 weeks but it is still a prefectly executed plan.

    • Kim says:

He could have worn protection but he didnt so he should take care of his child! He is a rotten, egomaniac who thought it wouldnt happen to him OR he didnt care because he knew he wouldnt step up to be a father anyhow! There are teenagers who take care of their children better than this piece of ….!

He is TRASH as is Salma for her part in the denial.

  54. Oenix says:

I love that white skirt she’s wearing

  55. Kim says:

I hope she gets every penny of his and him and Salma are left broke! What a piece of crap this guy is and Salma also since she was part of him denying Augie was his child. Who cares if they thought their baby had Downs – thats no excuse to pretend your arent another childs father! HE IS A PIECE OF CRAP!!!!

  56. Stacia says:

This dude is fug! The kid is cute…got most of his mom’s looks.

Must be the money that attracts these beautiful ladies to this guy.

  57. the original bellaluna says:

I think all parties involved (minus the children) are shameful.

Men, if you DON’T want kids, don’t bare-back it with women.

Women, if you DON’T want to deal with expensive litigation to establish paternity and child support, don’t bare-back it with men.

    Rocket science? NO.
    Common sense? YES.

  58. sarah says:

So to sum up…a woman has an unwanted pregnancy she can abort (kill) it. And that is okay.
but the guy involved has no choice if his baby is to be aborted even if he wants it. if he tells the woman he doesn’t want to be involved with the baby if she decides to keep it, even though he doesn’t want it, he is a bastard and should be hung up by his testicles called everything in the book along with his new wife?

  59. Rosemary says:

Talk about cherry-picking! Evangalista cherry-picked her sperm donor. The kid was always unwanted, and she didn’t give a damn about that…she just wanted a sugar-daddy’s child.

  60. mymy says:

So rich men sleep with woman because of their looks all the time. and guess what good looking woman sleep with rich men because their money. And sometimes egg and sperm meet up and a baby is born. Happened to Selma also. She slept with this beast and got pregnant also. I have a feeling if he had not met Selma he would have done right by his son. Men like sons. Selma gave him a daughter. Selma wanted her daughter to be more important. A sort of reverse prejudice. Prove to me girls are as important if not more than boys sort of attitude that is behind this.

  61. anneesezz says:

He was having unprotected sex with someone he only dated a few times>? Shame on him. Pay up. The child deserves to live the lifestyle of his father. Period. He doesn’t get to accuse the mom of being a golddigger and get a free pass. Sorry!

  62. Elaine says:

Salma Hayek should get divorced from this creep as soon as possible. He is a bum and he lacks good morals. Pinault disgusts me.

  63. Tina says:

Even if Pinault gives his son $46,000 a month for the next 20 YEARS, it’d only equal the amount he paid for the house he has bought & put in trust for his 4 y.o. daughter by Hayek – namely, $13 million. This does nott include any money he’ll continue to be spending on her those next 20 years, nor all he has lavished on her since her birth. Contrast this to the fact that he has not contributed ANY money to his son’s upbringing. His son deserves to receive as much money as his father gives his half-sister. Besides, a $46,000 monthly payment to a man who’s net worth is $13 BILLION, is the equivalent of TWO DOLLARS AND THIRTY CENTS A MONTH for a man with a net worth of $650,000. Puts things in perspective, doesn’t it?
