Naomi Campbell beats people with phones because of “abandonment issues”

I’ve lost count of how many times Naomi Campbell has flown into a diva-rage and physically assaulted some random person. I want to say the number is somewhere between “six” and “eleventy billion”. The difficulty is getting a hard number is that A) she really does assault a hell of a lot of people and B) Her married boyfriend started paying people off so they wouldn’t sue Naomi or charge her with assault and C) WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT?!?! Previously, Naomi claimed that she would stop beating people once she turned 40. Forty came and went and she’s still a violent terror who will shove a blood diamond down your throat at a moment‘s notice. And now the Mail has some quotes from Naomi’s latest television interview (on CNBC on Wednesday), and Naomi is still pulling excuses out of her ass for her history of violence.

She is one of the world’s highest paid and highest profile supermodels but is equally as famous for her furious temper. Naomi Campbell revealed in an intimate interview how she is still struggling with her anger issues and claimed that although she is not completely free of her infamous temper, she is a ‘work in progress.’

The in-depth interview will be broadcast on Wednesday on satellite and cable TV and shows a calmer more reflective side to the fiery model. 41-year-old Campbell is asked during the programme if she has finally ended her sporadic attacks and tantrums.

She replied: ‘Work in progress. I’ve apologised, accepted responsibility, I did my community service.’

On the show, CNBC Meets, Campbell speaks of her personal battle against cocaine and said: ‘The challenge was to go back and face things I hadn’t dealt with, [it’s] scary for anyone to go and look at themselves in the mirror and deal with them, leave that baggage there and move forward.’

She continued: ‘I didn’t feel good. I didn’t want to work. I lost many friends. I was emotionally and physically drained. I don’t look back on it in a negative way. That was my calling, my path… everyone’s path is different.’

In 2000 Naomi was found guilty of hitting her assistant with a phone and in 2007 she completed community service in New York for assaulting her housekeeper with a customized jewel encrusted mobile phone. The supermodel faced further court drama in 2008 when she attacked a police officer at Heathrow airport during a row after she lost a bag.

As a result she was banned by British Airways and was again ordered to do community service. Despite her troubled past the Streatham born model claims she has no regrets and added: ‘There’s no reason for doing that. It’s more like seeing or understanding a pattern you have to break.’

One possible reason that she gives for her bad behaviour is ‘abandonment’ issues due to her father who abandoned her mother Valerie when she was pregnant with Naomi.

Music producer Quincy Jones, who Naomi calls Poppy, has been a father figure to her for many years and he said: ‘For a long time I was trying to get to the bottom of what was bothering her. Just recently I said, ‘What is really wrong?’ She said, ‘Poppy, abandonment’ … a girl has to have that relationship with her father.’

Campbell says of her relationship with Nelson Mandela: ‘He’s been an amazing inspiration. Even when I’ve done wrong — and I know I’ve done wrong — I could go to him and never feel condemned by him.’

CNBC Meets Naomi Campbell is on CNBC on Wednesday at 10pm.

[From The Mail]

Oh, for the love of God. Nobody (and I mean it, Jennifer Aniston, NOBODY) does a self-aggrandizing pity party like Naomi Campbell. You know why she did coke? Because she liked it and she could afford it. You know why she beat people with bejeweled phones? Because she wanted to and she could get away with it. You know why she has “abandonment issues”? Because she’s a sucking vortex of narcissism and violence and bad weaves.

but those legs go on for days

  2. RocketMerry says:

Everybody has power on their actions, even if they have deep, horrible issues to deal with. If they don’t have control, then they are clinically ill and need to be cured, not gifted (blood)diamonds.

That said, I miss her modeling days. She and her fellow ’90s top-models were beyond amazing.

  3. dorothy says:

Your 41, you’ve been beating on people for years. Abandonment issues? Please…it’s no more than a spoiled, egotistical brat trying to get her way.

  4. DarkEmpress says:

I think this write up is pretty callous. A lot of people have emotional issues which lead them to aggression. Most of the kids who were bullies in school had issues at home. I saw her interview on Oprah and I felt a lot of empathy for her. I even felt Oprah was being too mean. Naomi was bawling. I mean ugly snotty crying. She has had a messed up childhood without either parent around. I think she really is trying to make amends, because I cannot imagine another reason why she would be going around explaining her past actions. Her boyfriend is a billionaire. She isnt like Lindsay, trying to get back in the public`s good graces so she can earn some money.

  5. TXCinderella says:

When the looks go, all she will have left is a terrible personality and a cell phone. Sad.

  6. Caity says:

At what point do we stop excusing a grown adults actions becase they had a terrible childhood. She is filthy rich with acess to the best psychologists in the world.
Instead she has an overblown sense of entitlement and plays the victim.

EVERYONE has a cross to bear in life – we don’t go around throwing phones at people

  7. Dot says:

Her reasoning is, I feel abandoned so I hit my driver or personal assistant?

    Am I missing something?

  8. natalie says:

hey darkempress, she has millions of dollars and can afford the best anger management and therapy in the world. i don’t want to hear her bitch about her childhood that ended over 20 years ago.

  9. Bill Hicks is God says:

Given her divulging abandonment issues along with violent behaviour and drug use we already know about, she sounds like a Borderline Personality. It’s all too common in people with dysfunctional childhoods and come from broken homes. Courtney Love is another one. Joan Crawford too I’d say – though there was something sinister going on with her…

Anyhow, Borderlines are trouble and you can’t change a personality, they can realize and modify their behaviours but it takes a lot of counselling and cognitive behavioural training and even then, “success” (for want of a better word) in changing is low. Personality disorder is not a mental illness. It’s who. they. are.

  10. Leticia says:

Naomi is still beautiful and has the best legs on the planet. but I’m reminded of Willie D’s old song Bald Head Hoes for some odd reason.

  11. smith says:

It isn’t only the beat-downs Naomi, it’s the over-entitled, bitchy, narcissistic way you treat everyone from your assistants who do your every bidding to your publicists (hello) who protect you, to your managers who book your income.

Basically you’re a very, very pretty woman and …well, it kind of ends there doesn’t it? And you are aware.

Perhaps that’s where your deep, dark anger issues stem.

  12. LAK says:

@DArk Empress; Noami CAmpbell only listens to people that SHE thinks matter. Of course she’s going to bawl when Oprah called her out. It’s probably the first time she paid attention when someone called her out. Personlly, i can’t forgive her for the blood diamond thing. Yes, i know she wasn’t responsible for the tragedy sponsored by those blood diamonds, but to be ‘incovenienced’ at a trial where her tesitmony could have put away one of the architects of that tragedy???!!! maybe we need to send Oprah so that she can see how very wrong she was because she certainly doesn’t feel bad about that.

  13. ladybert62 says:

I have never understood the attraction of this woman – I do not think she is pretty and her actions portray a selfish, narcisstic, petty person -I would not want to be within a mile of her.

  14. GirlyGIrl says:

So she likes to abandon her phones into people’s faces.

so sad, i feel terrible for all those hurtful things i said about her.

I’m gonna get her the biggest blood diamond and fashion it on a ring I make from poor people’s gold fillings I will have ripped out. I will then get Robert Mugabe to hand deliver it borne on a golden thrown carried by children from a NIKE factory.

  15. GirlyGIrl says:

Seriously? we’re supposed to buy this?

she’s got the elitist attitude down pat.

  16. foozy says:

    she’s a nutcase!

  17. DarkEmpress says:

Dear god, Im getting called out by so many people. I never said she was right, I said I think she really is sorry.

  18. the original bellaluna says:

Really? I thought it was due to her entitled asshole issues. Who knew?

  19. Nev says:

    work on your issues girl.

  20. The Bobster says:

Nah, she’s just mean and evil.

  21. crtb says:

Betcha she dont beat her rich Russian boyfriend’s maids and drivers! You want to know why? Because he wont tolerate that crap! She can control her anger when she wants to.

  22. Rabbit says:

I’m thinking more of a diagnosis of Antisocial Personality Disorder (reckless disregard for the safety/well-being of others) and/or Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

  23. Trashaddict says:

I heard from somebody who knows well, break down the whole psychiatric thing a different way: “there are crazy people (psychotics), nervous people (neurotics) and assholes (people with personality disorders). Hmm, which category for Naomi?

  24. Cheyenne says:

Three possible diagnoses have been mentioned:

    1) borderline personality disorder
    2) antisocial personality disorder
    3) narcissistic personality disorder

How about 4) a stuck-up bitch with an attitude who could benefit from a good old-fashioned beat-down?

Her “abandonment issues” don’t entitle or excuse her to act like Cruella de Vil on steroids. Her outside may still be beautiful but her inside is ugly as hell.

  25. Sara says:

Is she openly dating a married man?

  26. Skinnybetch says:

I have abandonment issue, but I definitely don’t throw shit @ people because of them. Naomi will never change because she’s a legendary supermodel who only dates billionaires. She mega rich and can afford to stay the mean, violent, cunty bitch we all love to hate.
